PAGASA

Greetings to all advocates of Pilipino culture and women’s advancement,

GABRIELA NETWORK/ PAGASA (Pilipinas Affirming Grassroots-organizing Access Services Advocacy) is launching one of their first programs, PAGASA’s women youth leadership program (WYLP). Gabriela Network and PAGASA partnered to offer a program that will advance the issues of Pilipina women. We hope you join us in the struggle.

Program description:
The PAGASA WYLP seeks to involve high school, college, and professional women in opportunities to learn about and exercise leadership. The program includes 50+ hours of issue/skill training specifically relevant to Pilipina women in areas of self-advocacy, leadership development, project development, reproductive health, oppression, violence, conflict resolution, anger management, etc. As a final project, the women will be responsible for coordinating a High School (Pilipina) women’s conference.

In addition to providing safe spaces to learn and exercise leadership, WYLP involves a mentorship component in which college and professional women interact with high school women to support their personal development.

To apply for the program, complete application found on the website: http://www.geocities.com/pagasa_apply and email it to p-a-g-a-s-a@hotmail.com by May 6, 2005
