EDIT: Houston, We Have A Problem

Woot, scratch the info in the previous entry ^o^ Apparently the travel agent was able to find a flight from Chicago to Detroit to Nagoya both ways. No bus, no Tokyo Eki, no worrying about the Shinkansen, and it's less than $100 more expensive than the other flight! WOOT!!! Today is a good day!!!!!! =) TANOSHIMI NI SHITERU ^o^/

Houston, We Have A Problem

Listening to:As For One Day/Morning Musume

So Meg and I booked our tickets today! ^o^ Well, practically :P The details get ironned out on Monday, but they're basically as good as bought ^__________________________^....which should seem good. Great even. Oh, and it IS >D However, it's the route we have to take that's irksome :P We have to fly from O'Hare...to HOUSTON, then to Tokyo. On our way there, we're arriving in Tokyo but not taking a flight. We'll hop a bus to Tokyo Eki and take the Shinkansen from there to Nagoya Eki ^^ However, on our way back, we'll be able to fly out of the airport in Narita, then switch to an international flight at Narita.

A little confuzzling, huh? But what can you do when you're flying June 26th and July 7th, and you're just buying tickets now? :P That's why we couldn't get a connecting flight from Tokyo to Nagoya. All seats were taken ^^ Actually, it should be fun, if somewhat hassleing in getting from the airport to the train station, to Nagoya, but it'll be fun to ride the shinkansen. I was more concerned, time wise, coming home anyway, and we have a flight out of the airport in Nagoya, so no worries ^o^ Except for HOUSTON U___________U which we have to fly into both ways U________U Nothing against Houston, just that...it's in the exact OPPOSITE direction we need to go >D Oh well, for less than $750 round trip, I'm not complaining.............too much o.o

Colds Suck

Listening to:Dasenai Tegami/V6

U_____U I never get sick, and then BOOM Easter comes and hits me with the Sore Throat From Hell. And a cough, and a stuffy nose U_U %#$@%#$% I hate you, cold!! Ah well, at least it's not something like that flu >D (crap, I could jinx myself that way, couldn't I? Oh well, too late!)

So I had three hours of fun last night watching ghost stuff on Sci-Fi >D Thank god it was Megan's turn to take the dog out or I'd never have managed it, I get scared so easily >) But it was pretty interesting, and about a "case" I'd never heard of before.

So as you can see I have very little to write about, other than the fact I have to go to work tonight to make sure the time I asked off for in June is allright. If it is, Meg and I should be buying tickets tomorrow ^o^ When I think of actually going and arriving there, I get all excited >) I just want to be there without any academic worries >D Like my first time in Japan *lol* Of course, the thought of going is then tempered by the fact I have to get on an airplane O______O meeeeeeeeep

Okay, short I know but I need something to eat before independent study!

My Poor Poor Pazuu

Listening to: nothing >D

So out of morbid curiousity, when Tacchan, Meg, and I rented Chamber of Secrets last night, I decided to also rent the DVD of Tenkuu no shiro Rapyuta because I wanted to see how the dub sounded. Now, mind you, I was feeling all warm and fuzzy from having seen the dub of Sen to Chihiro, where they did such a FANTASTIC job with voices and translation.....

......Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for this. I didn't watch all of it, just enough to hear voices and to watch the end (yes yes, I LOVE watching Pazuu and Shiita hug near the end >) it's so WAFF-y). Dear lord, my poor Pazuu, to be stuck with James VanDerbeek as your English seiyuu. Now, if he'd be appropriate that's one thing (James Marsden is a GREAT English Haku) but...*shudder* he sounded like a G E E K =________= I wouldn't be so upset if Pazuu wasn't one of my favorite characters from any Japanese anime I've seen or any manga I've read.

Anna Paquinn (sp?) was all right...she was a good voice actress, but she wasn't Shiita. She over-did Shiita, I think ^^;; That, and I don't know what they were thinking with their translation in English near the end, where Sheeta makes a comment about not being able to live without love, when, pardon me, but in the Japanese she says you can't live without being connected to the Earth (and this wasn't a case translation vs. mouth movements...they could have sustituted her saying "love" for "earth"), which they DO have written in the sub O.o Grar, that and the fact it's re-scored still pisses the hell out of me. It didn't need to be re-scored, no matter that Hisaishi Jou did it.

I know I sound like one of the nit-picky fans I find so irksome as of late, but this movie's my baby *lol* My favorite, right up there next to Singin' in the Rain as my favorite movie of all time ^^;;

anyway, now that that's off my chest >D I'm off to bed.

Hauru no ugoku shiro/Howl's Moving Castle

Listening to:Sounds of Spirit/Skoop on Somebody

I swear to god, just this picture for the movie practically makes me salivate! Of course, it's not exactly what I'd picture Howl's castle looking like, but hey, I can deal with it. You must understand, Howl's Moving Castle is one of my favorite books (Diana Wynne Jones is a fantastic author), and the fact it's coming to the screen through Studio Ghibli makes me ecstatic ^.^

Although, it does sort of irk me that Diana Wynne Jone's isn't really involved. Still, it's the sort of story that's perfect for Ghibli, and I can't imagine them doing anything that will ruin the integrity of the story. I wonder to death what the heck Howl himself will look like, and Sophie ^o^;; The ending is even classically Miyazaki *lol* kyaaa ^.^ sugoku tanoshimi ni shiteru~~~~~~

91st Anneversary

"On the morning of April 14th, 1912, the passenger liner RMS Titanic struck an iceberg in the north Atlantic. Within minutes, water began pouring into her lower decks. Less than 3 hours later, her propellers started to rise out of the water. For the more than 1,500 people left on board, there was little hope for escape. Soon the biggest ship the world had ever seen, would plunge to the bottom of the ocean"

I've always remembered that quote from a book about the Titanic I read as a third grader. It's funny how well people remember this, and yet I watched a program about a week and a half ago or so that talked about a ship that sank during WWII, and by the estimation researchers had done, some 9,000 people lost their lives when it went down. The difference is, it was a German ship, and I'm sure that was the reason people chose to forget it, whether or not the passengers were civilians. Still, as with so many other people, the story of the Titanic has always fascinated me, moreso since I was able to go to the Titanic exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago a couple of years ago. The terror those people must have felt, when they really realized what was happening...*shudder*

Anyway, it is the 91st anneversary of the sinking of the Titanic! Just thought to mention it ^^;;
