Listening to: the hum of the computer
......complete, and utter crap!! You know, the new century may have it's issues, but thank god I don't have to put up with this kind of crap-ass advice in this day and age.

Seabiscuit
Listening to: Nothing T_T real player's being an ass
Went with Meg to see Seabiscuit tonight, the new Tobey McGuire film. One thing not everyone may know about my sister and I, being that we're such freaks about Japan and Japanese culture, is that there was once a part of our lives Before Japan *lol* and Before Archaeology, that was Love of Horses. Of course, little girls who love horses very rarely ever grow out of that stage of their life, they just tuck it away to a farther, more realistic part of their brain that tells them they live in town, and it's impracticle to think they're going to have a horse of their own for a very long time, if ever, and some Growing Up Time is in order.
But I digress, we have a healthy collection of model horses and My Little Ponies, as any girl should (we were never the Barbie types. Nope it was our horses that had trial and tribulations, divorce, remarriage, fell in love...you name it >) ). I love to go horse back riding, even if $20 for an hour where you never go beyond a trot is atrocious, but you take what you can get when you have no horse of your own (wah, I'm really sorry we never took you riding, Masanari! We should have!). In other words, I love horses. Anything to do with them. I love the smell, I love the way they look, the kind of spirit they have. Everything ^o^
So, I was highly looking forward to this movie. It's a great story, although I haven't read the book yet, but am definetly planning on buying it. It's a real American story in a time when America badly needed something to uplift them. I know from what I've heard that they gloss over the real story, but I think considering that this movie is already a two hour flick, you can only get so much in. And what they did put in was great,IMHO. I love under dog stories, and the fact it involves a horse pique's my interest even more. I swear, near the end in the last race, just watching that horse fly down that track, that alone nearly made me tear up. I'm such a sucker *lol* But it makes me want to get on a horse and just fly. Not that I've ever done it. But I can visualize...I can feel it in my head and imagine what it would be like ^O^/
Speaking of movies....I saw Spellbound last night with Mom. If you don't recall, it was nominated at this year's Oscar's for Best Documentary, and follows 8 kids toward their goal of winning the 1999 National Spelling Bee, one of whom ends up the winner (how in god's name they got that lucky, I'll never figure out). I thought it was great. Very funny and very interesting. I never realized just how intense these kids who compete in it can be. Of course, it also succeeded in making me feel like a complete idiot as well *lol* With the exception of a few words like "darjeeling" or Japanese words that I could spell even while asleep (considering if you know Japanese, you know you "spell" as you speak...so a spelling be as we know it would be impractical in Japan), everything else just had me going "......huh?". Hadn't a clue how to spell the words. Anyway, I highly recommend it, should it turn up somewhere in your local video store ^^;;
Okay, well, this entry seems to have turned into one long movie review >D and I'm not sure what else to write :P

Mud On The Tires
Listening to: Celebrity/Brad Paisley
Yeah, a completely unoriginal subject title this time *Lol* It's the name of Brad Paisley new album, which came out of a couple of days ago. I haven't bought a CD in English, let alone a country album, in a very long time. I hope I'm happy with this one, and listening to a few seconds of other tracks, I think I will be. Of course, it has Celebrity on it, so I'm happy about that, because it's a great song (and hilarious to boot :P The video is especially amusing). I love Brad Paisley's humor in the songs he writes. This is why I highly recommend the song I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishing Song). I know it sounds dreadfully, painfully...well...country, but it's very funny (and the music video is, once again, even more amusing).
I finally finished making the necklace to replace the one I lost at Nagashima SpaLand ^^;; For those of you that know me, you may or may not remember that I use to wear a 5 yen piece on a red "chord". My first host mom made it for me the day I left my first time in Japan, way back on August 3rd, 1998. I'd worn that necklace ever since. At some point during the day at Nagashima, it came off. I have no idea when or where or on what ride. I just know that between the time we went through the gates to the time we left, it went missing. :P
So I decided I was just going to get a new 5 yen piece (Actually, the one I used Meg gave me, so it has a special value to it this time as well ^_^), and use the beads that Meg and Mom got me a while back. Of course I planned on the theme being mostly reds, because that's my color :P It's the third beaded necklace that I wear now, though *Lol* One is blue and red and has the little "charm" that's green and looks like Shiita's stone from Rapyuta, and the other is a variety of blues that has my sterling silver star shaped charm on it. IN all though, I wear 5 necklaces, of successive length :P The other two are my Shiita necklace that Masanari sent me some time back, and the other is my cabachon red colored scarab on a black chord ^^;;
Anyway, I think it turned out rather well ^_^ It's not my old necklace, but I like it ^_^
And double w00t! Spellbound is playing at the Normal Theater, and Whale Rider is at the Castle! Must see these movies, as I've heard nothing but gushing and praise about them ^_^

Tomodachi ga inakunaru
Well, I suppose it's not exactly correct to say we'll be without friends :P I simply mean that with Jason leaving Friday for his turn as a JET teacher in Hiroshima-ken, and in August Tacchan leaves for college (and she won't even be BACK from Indiana until August 3rd) things are going to be lonely around here. That's not to say I don't appreciate my dear friends I chat with, merely that with Talia and Jason gone there's no one to hang out with physically :P (and of COURSE I'm going to miss the hell out of them *lol*). It's kind of like when Meg and I were in Japan...we really only hung out with Katherine and Jason, and wouldn't have had anyone to hang out with if it had been we that stayed and they that returned home *lol* So while I'm happy for both of them, and proud of them in their turns, it's a bit sad. ^^;; Bittersweet, I suppose is the best way to put it.
But I digress :P On to another topic. I've been reading (at long last, Meg read them years ago) the first book in the Mercedes Lackey Mage Storms series, aptly titled Storm Warning. I have to say, ever since I read Elizabeth's rant discussion about Exhile's Honor it's affected how I read Lackey >D Now I notice everything she pointed out, and despite enjoying the book, it's apalling how flawed it is. Flawed in the respect that nearly everyone is perfect, or too justified in what they're doing. She just over...writes. Period. There's far too much explanation of why the characters do what they do. She is preachy, and the good characters are far too good.
I've always commented that in Don Callendar's books (Pyromancer, Aquamancer, Geomancer, Aeoromancer, and so forth) that everyone liked Douglas and Myrn. That they were almost too perfect. But at the same time, for the tenor of the books, it fit. It worked. But reading Storm Warning it didn't seem that way at all. It seemed like the characters liked other characters because they were written that way, and not because the author had created a world in which characters liking other characters was obvious because of how the author wrote, not just simply because she did write it. Hmmm reading that sentence over, I'm not sure if it at all made sense.
*shrug* I dunno, I suppose if I go back and read other books of hers I've really liked (The Fire Rose, The Eagle and the Nightengale, Knight of Ghosts and Shadows) I'd probably notice similar aggravating things :P Then again, re-reading KOGAS sometime back, I noticed certain things that irked me...but I can't help that Beth was written into the story anyway >D
I guess I should stop now :P Getting tired >D!

Don't I Love Work T_______T
Listening to: 3bansen/Yuzu
So I get a head's up yesterday that they might have to call me in to work this morning because the floral lady at my store might be put on suspension (which she was). Okay, that's fine. My boss tells me to be up around 8, because no one was sure it would happen until that morning. Well, I got up at 8 and waited around for a good 45 minutes before I decided to go back to bed, figuring that if no one had called by then, then no one was going to.
Well, 15 minutes later I get woken up by the manager (in all fairness, a nice guy) asking me if I can come in at work >________________< 9?! My boss tells me to be up around 8 and no one can manage to call me for an HOUR?! I mean, how rude is that??!! Especially considering I wasn't scheduled to work at all today. Ugh, it just irks the hell out of me. I don't mind working, but it's completely uncool of them $___$
I bought a new watch yesterday. I'm sad, cause my old one cracked along one of the holes, and it's plastic so that it's unreplaceble. Meg bought it for me for my 20th b-day, and I LOVED that watch. It's red and big and perfect ;.; But alas, it's no more. Actually, I did clip it around my bag, because the second and first holes are still fine, but it couldn't be worn on my wrist anymore.
Anyway, the watch I bought wasn't expensive...just $30 (although more than I wanted to pay :P), and it's not red, much to my dismay. I went to ***4*** different places and walked all over the mall, but no red watches >_< Very irksome. But this one is an opaque light blue color that's very "Jamie-esque". It's all digital...so no moving hands..another point I don't like, but the one's I liked that did have hands were all more expensive and I was unwilling to spend the money ^^;; I'm happy enough with it...but this coupled with the fact I bought new shoes the other day that are also blue makes me wonder if I'm not turning into Megan! :P

Great America!
So we set off yesterday to go to Kira's, the prime objective being going to Great America. We finally made it there around 6 p.m., and we got very lucky, because the weather was great but the park wasn't packed at all. Of course, there were still approximately 3 million teenagers and kids there, but our longest wait in line was probably 20 or so minutes, to give you an idea how it was.
In the end, we rode 'coasters 10 times in 4 hours, which is great, considering you hope to ride that many during an entire day there because it's normally packed during the summer. We rode Raging Bull 3 times (the last time Kira and I rode in front, which is the only way to ride it, let me tell you), American Eagle once, Batman Once, Viper 5 times, and we took a turn on the swings once as well *lol*
Actually, I should tell you about the Viper :P We were heading toward the front gate, to leave early and save ourselves the trouble of leaving when everyone else was. Well, Kira decided to go on it (while Meg and I made a restroom stop :P) because there was no line, and we decided to go as well. Well, we basically walked right onto the ride, and when we got back through the ride operator said that if there was no one standing in your row that you could go again. Well this happened when we got back....and the next time...and the next time...and the next time...so that by the end, Meg and I had ridden it 4 times in a row! Kira got to go 3 times, but someone was standing in her row the last time Meg and I rode. Still, it was great timing for all three of us ^O^
After we left Great America (and after waiting forever to get out of the parking lot) we headed down Mitsuwa-way to go karaoke. This time we decided only to go for an hour, as we arrived there after 11:00 p.m. It was really fun, as it always is, although I feel sorry for Kira that every time we go she has to be subjected to a rendition of EE Jump's Ikinari Rythym by Meg and I *lol* After heading back to Kira's, the 3 of us put in last night's ep of Monk before we hit the sack. It was a great ep...especially for those people out there who are huge Monk/Sherona shippers *lol* Of course I myself am, but I try not to over-analyze things and just let the show play itself the way it wants to :P
Headed down to Mitsuwa before coming home. Didn't buy anything special...just a volume of a new manga by the same author as Soul Rescue called Kokoro ni hana wo, plus the newest LaLa and Kiss zasshi they had (Kiss because Kimi wa Pet runs in it). Actually, the chapter of KimiPe that was in the current issue was kind of lame, but a little fun >D It made me smile *lol* Meg got more of Pafechikku and the new Arashi album.
So this is a terrible time to get upset with friends *lol* Meg and I are not entirely happy with a certain male friend of ours. Here's the thing, he's good friend's with us but also with our brother....but we are much less than friends with our brother. There's a great deal of animosity on our part toward him, due to the fact he does jack shit around the house, has had 6 different jobs in the last year and and half, and yet eats, sleeps and leaves his crap all over the house and still gets to use the car while we have actual obligations around here. But I digress....
Most of our friends have known for a long time that Meg and I plan to apply to JET once we graduate. It's been our plan since high school, actually. Well, our brother has mentioned a time or two that maybe he should apply to JET. This is no good for a few reasons. Snobby and childish as it sounds, Japan has always been "our" thing. Our interest, our passion. Our brother is "interested" only because he's grasping at straws and thinks it'll be "easy" work or something (although, according to some people's opinions, it's not a "real" job either T____T I disagree)Although honestly, I'm sure he says it mostly to irritate us.
Anyway, we related our feelings on the matter to aforementioned male friend, who at some point decided our brother needed this information. And this evening, our brother relayed this to us, or rather to his friend in front of us, that Jason said we didnt' want him applying to JET because Japan was "our thing". Now, I realize I'm boardering on sounding immature...but do we really have to tell said friend that anything we say about our brother to him is not to be relayed? Considering that said friend knows how we feel about our brother...the fact should go unspoken that you just don't go telling other people confidential information. Nevermind the fact, said male friend didn't even think it was inappropriate to tell our brother this information....that's what rankling. Unless I'm crazy, but isn't there some unwritten Law of Friendship that says you don't go telling other people information like that? Am I going to have to swear him to secrecy every time from now on? He knows how we feel about our brother, and it's a breech of friendship to tell him the things we say #___________# Would he like me to go tell his parents some of the things he's said about them? Urgh >______<
Elizabeth! Haha was amused by your Mercedes Lackey rant! I used to adore Lackey...considered her one of my favorite authors...but as time has gone on and new books have come out, I've found myself enjoying her writing style less and less...and less. And woo, Brightly Burning. I try not to even think about that book, or it makes me cringe and my head hurts. I still enjoy reading older books of hers, but no matter how good something new by her sounds, I view it with a certain amount of trepidation now.

Kimi wa mou, petto janai
Listening to: Cosmic Rescue/V6
Woo! Meg was able to get the last tape of Kimi wa Pet, finally ^.^ I've been waiting since before my trip to see the end ^^ The funny thing is, the manga isn't finished yet, so while I enjoy the end of the drama, I'm still worried about the manga :P
Anyway, I'm definetly chaulking this up on my "favorite drama" list. I mean, it's not good. Not in that Aishiteiru to itte kure, Long Vacation, Asunaro Hakusho, etc. way, but in that "Damn, I enjoyed the hell out of that" kind of way. Similar to Muko Dono, or Itsumo futari de. I love how much contact there is in it, too. I mean, I love Japanese dramas, but they're not known to be really "touchy-feely"....which is probably a bad description *Lol* I just mean there's a lot of erm....WAFF-y moments...but then I suppose that comes from the nature of the story, which is based on a manga of the same name.
On another good note, Meg was also able to get the first two tapes of Bijou ka yajuu, which was the drama Matsushima Nanako and Fukuyama Masaharu were in but that Akemiya for some reason didn't have the beginning of until now. So we'll see how this one is...I think we'll have to get the VCD though, because they never got in the last tape of it either #______# How irksome.
Oh yes, got to "talk" to Masanari last night, through the Yahoo IM voice chat feature :P I gotta get a headset, since it's inconvinient to have the speakers blaring stuff when other people are down here trying to watch the tv :P But it was fun ^.^/
Melissa: Yeah, this is the first and only pair of hakama that I've had, so I haven't a clue as to how to tie them....even looking online it's confusing as hell X_____X
