Hey everyone. Just letting you know that if it appeares that I have seemed to dropped off the face of the earth this week, it's because I have officially declared it Hell Week, and I won't be able to do anything fun at all. :-P
I have 2 exams, 3 papers, and a research abstract due this week, plus I have to go to a mandatory extra-class lecture tonight, and a meeting for Phi Alpha Theta tomorrow night, plus I have 2 applications due, work, and it's concievable that I may be in a car for TEN hours on Thursday to go pick up Anne-girl and bring her back in time to take my test. *dies* Hopefully she can get a rental car and I can split the cost with her or something.
But then... spring break. And the much coveted sleep that I am too stressed to get at the moment.

Hello everyone! I have had a totally crazy week, and next week will be nutso too. I abhor midterms. -_- But then... SPRING BREAK! And I get to see Anne-girl b/c she's coming to visit me next weekend, and then hopefully the weekend after that I'll get to go to good old H'vegas and wreck havoc with S (and btw, if you want snow, PLEASE take mine -_-) and Kim! Heeeeee... Ah, just like old times! Minus Jo, unfortunately. She hasn't had her baby yet, but it's due very soon- like in 2 weeks. Good luck dear! Let us know when Ashton graces the world with his presence. ^_^ *hugs*
On a sort of happy note, I got into my study abroad program!! I just found out today! The not so happy part is finding the money... >.< *sighs* I'll let everyone know what I decide, but with any luck I'll be in Dublin this summer!

25. Make up a story with yourself, a bridge, and a bunny: Once upon a time, in a far away land, there lived a not-so-fair maiden by the name of Jen. She was very fond of the little random stone bridge that was in the middle of the forest... despite the fact that there were no settlements anywhere nearby so it made no sense for there to be a bridge. There wasn't even any water. Hence the reason it's random... but I digress. Anyway, the not-so-fair maiden went to the little bridge every morning and threw a rock over the side, making a wish. She knew that it wouldn't come true though because the pile of wishing stones grew everyday, bigger and bigger, but nothing ever happened. But one day, there was a harmless little bunny sitting on top of her rock pile. Oh, how cute! she thought, and made her way toward it to pet it. But that was a big mistake, as it suddenly jumped at her chest and ate her heart out raw. And so it came to pass that the maiden's wish came true- she was put out of her misery.
26. What do you think about contemporary art?: How contemporary? Like avant-garde Dali/Picasso/Tzara, or like that unidentifiable black plastic sculpture you can buy for the corner of your sanitary white living room?

Everyday I'm struck by what contradictory creatures humankind are. For example, this is a country ruled (and yes, I meant "ruled" not governed) by a party of people who can't even figure out their own god damned politics. My problems with Republicans is that they don't make sense! anti-legal abortion, yet pro-capital punishment. They're against the federal government being involved in state issues, yet it's ok for them to tell us what we can do with our bodies. They go on and on about the Bill of Rights, yet they don't recognize polytheistic religions as legitimate. And the kicker- we own satellites advanced enough to see a fucking quarter on the ground in the middle of New York city, yet we supposedly can't find a terrorist in the middle of an unpopulated desert. I'm not even going into the damned environmental policies...
*coughs* But off my Dubbya bashing b/c that really wasn't the point of my post.
I try really hard to believe the best of people. I really do. Sometimes I think I've become cynical, but then I correct myself- Realist, that's what I am. Some think there's no difference, but there is. I still see the potential in the world... but I also recognize that we're not doing much with it. It hurts to see. And to be honest, I feel the same way about myself as an individual. I see the potential, but I feel like I'm not doing anything with it. And I feel a little disheartened b/c I kind of want to go to Columbia for grad school, but they only accept 20 to 25 students out of 400 apps every year. And I think there's no chance in hell I can beat those odds. I may not be a ditz, but I sure as hell don't have the kind of GPA that can guarantee a shoo-in. *sighs*
Then there's my good friend Lyra who had her apartment broken into. What kind of jackass would do that?! I hate thinking of mankind as being capable of inflicting that kind of damage to someone. But they are. Just look at Caesar. Hitler. Arafat. Even Monkey Man Bush. *hugs* I know how angry and violated you feel right now. But remember that we're here for you, and when you want to use that lightening bolt to fry their asses, just remember that they'll get their karmic justice in the end... even if it sucks big time that you won't get to see it. Hang in there!
Ah, but I could go on and on about this kind of thing, so I'll stop.
On a different note, I got to talk to my friend JoAnna on the phone tonight for the first time in ages. We had a nice long talk, and I'm so glad to hear how happy she is. Marriage and even pregnancy suit her, despite all of the problems she and her husband are going through at the moment. I'm convinced that she's truly making it out alright, which is what I have been most concerned about. That conversation made me miss my high school friends terribly. I mean, I do all the time, but sometimes more than others.

Ok, so I'm not quite Supa-Genki!Jen, but I'm not exactly Depressed!Jen either. I don't know why, but I have been in some sort of funk for the last week. I've just been feeling down and I can't figure out why. Maybe it's b/c I'm feeling stagnant. Maybe it's b/c I can't find much meaning in my life right now (thank you Frankl). Maybe Laurel's right, and it's all these damned depressing HP fics I've been reading. Maybe it's just hearing about everyone else's problems when I can't help out. Who knows? I can't figure it out.
