Jen's Pita - Look everyone! It's me! Or rather, Jen Morgaine Ashford, my doppelganger. (If only I really looked like my doppelganger...XD) The theme of my blog is rr!Jen, and portrait was done by the oh so talented Lyra Stormrider. *hugs* THANK YOU! *.* (Note: If you want to see all of the rr portraits, go to my link for the MR.org HP Round Robin) And someday I won't be lazy and I'll do a real layout overhaul. XD

I'M DONE!!...Friday, May 3, 2002, 10:37 am

*dances* I am done! I am done!! Wheeeee!

Well, ok, I still have to pack, but I don't have any more classes until June! Yay!

I hope everyone else is surviving crunch time. I know how stressful and icky it is. I already have senioritis, and I'm barely a senior. -_-;;

I will get around to changing this layout, I swear it. I don't know when, but I will. I hope that people can chat now, now that we're all almost done with the semester!

S, I hope we can talk soon. I haven't heard from you in ages.

Anyway, love you all! Talk to you later!

Update...Wednesday, April 17, 2002, 9:47 am

Hey everyone! Though I'd leave a quick update in case anyone is wondering where the hell I am. First of all, I am better now. I still have a lingering cough, but the worst of it is over now. Yay!

I've got a CRAZY next few days ahead of me (and behind me ^^;;). Sunday I had to organize the food committee for the Phi Alpha Theta induction ceremony (for those wondering, no, it's not a soroity but the History honors society) b/c I am treasurer. And I got re-elected as treasurer for next year as well. This afternoon I am going to the History Departmental Honors banquet, so I had to dress up. And it's hot. Blech. But I hope it will be fun. This weekend, I have to frantically write the research paper I've been procrastinating on all semester. -_- And I have my Japanese oral exam on Friday, and then it's "dead" week, though I still have homework in all of my classes. *grumble* Then... finals. In a week and 1/2. This semester has flown by! Well, that statement is made in retrospect only. Have you ever noticed that when you reach the end, it feels like it's flown by, but while living it it seems to draaaaaaaaag on forever?

Good news- I got the grant for study abroad!! Yay! That means I can definitely go to Dublin, and my dad is booking my plane tickets today! ^_^ I am SO excited! My friend Ashley is going too and we're already planning a weekend excursion to Wales!

Anyway, I love you guys and I am thinking about all of you. I miss talking to everyone, and hopefully when finals are over, I can spend some time chatting.

Big hugs and kisses to everyone!

Ill...Monday, April 8, 2002, 9:21 am

Ill. Very. The lymph nodes in my neck are so swollen that I look like bloody Frankenstein. On too many drugs too count. Am seriously, seriously hacked off b/c it couldn't come a fucking WORSE time. I mean there are only 3 weeks left of the semester, and I'm not even going to bother the hideously long list of shit I have to do for classes, b/c don't you know- every prof thinks their class is the bloody most important one. -_-

Anyway, just giving an update. I probably still won't be online much at all. I'm sorry guys- believe me, I miss all of you terribly and I would give anything to just have a nice all-night long chat about spleens or something. *hugs*

Despite illness, had a lovely weekend. Amanda, it was AWESOME to see you! We miss you!

Love to all!

Miscellaneous Stuff...Wednesday, April 3, 2002, 1:43 am

Hey everyone! This is my random news entry.

First of all, yes IU made it all the way to the Final Four. We even made it to the final game. Then we were slaughtered by Maryland. -_- It was a terrible game, too. Our sole consolation is that they were sucking too. *sigh* Ah well, there's always next year.

Thank you everyone who sent me those sweet b-day e-mails. *hugs* I love you all and thank you for thinking about me!

In case you're wondering, I did NOT get wasted on my birthday... of course it was on Easter Sunday, but still. I did have 3 beers during the game last night... well, ok, 2 nights ago now, but it only gave me a small buzz. ^_~

Jo's baby is healthy and supposedly very cute. ^_^ I can't wait to see him!

The other reason I'm blogging is because I will likely be pulling a disappearing act for awhile. Sorry guys, but this month is going to be hell, so I will likely be on very very little. So if I haven't updated in awhile, I'm not dead- well, unless you count exhaustion. I will keep an eye on the rr, though.

*hugs* Ja everyone! I love you!

*is in mild shock*...Saturday, March 23, 2002, 10:47 pm

I just finished reading the last installment of Lori's Harry Potter and the Show That Never Ends. Oh. My. God. She just blew my mind. Two COMPLETELY unexpected plot twists. I won't put any details in this post, in case some of you haven't read it yet, but if you haven't- go read it NOW. She is an amazing writer, and this has just reaffirmed the fact that the PoU series are my favorite fanfics EVER, from any genre and any author. Damn, they rock!

On another note, IU won their basketball game again tonight, so they're on their way to the Final Four for the first time in several years. I'm not really big on school spirit, but GO HOOSIERS!! Although, the people in my apartment complex were acting all spastic after the game tonight, running around the parking lot honking horns, banging on people's doors, and screaming. ^^;;

I did have a very good meeting with the professor I saw on Friday. She's agreed to oversee my paper, and I've narrowed it down to 2 topics. She was very nice, and very helpful, and I can see I'm going to like working with her next year!

I also saw The Royal Tennebaums last night. Great movie! Go see it!

Anne-girl, I'm glad we got to chat tonight! I'm glad that the weird feeling I had was nothing serious. But still... it's funny how that works!

Jo, I hope all is well with you and Pete and little Elijah! I've tried to call you twice

Ger, thanks for helping me fix my blog pic!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend! I love you all! *hugs*

Welcome to the world, Elijah!...Friday, March 22, 2002, 9:16 am

Well, JoAnna had her baby yesterday! Congrats, hon! I'm happy for you, and proud of you! Pete (her husband) called me last night to let me know. His name is Elijah! Adorable name, Jo! Call me when you can! I know you're going to be super busy now. I love you!

On another happy note, IU won the game against Duke last night! We're now in the top 8. I normally don't give a shit about the basketball team, but we haven't made it this far in years. So- EAT THAT BOBBY KNIGHT!

I have an appointment this morning to discuss my history honors thesis. I am a bit nervous, simply because I'm not sure of a topic. I just know it has to be some thing in post-medieval Irish history. I'm sure I'll come up with something. ^^;;

Yesterday my friend Sarah (Mussett) came over and we celebrated Ostara together with a bottle of meade, and we gave a bread offering to the birds. It was lots of fun. Thanks Sarah for coming over! Note: Ostara is the origin of the word Easter, and it's the pagan holiday celebrating the Vernal Equinox.

Sorry I haven't been online much this week- it's been kind of busy, and I don't anticipate that changing anytime soon. >.< I'll try to get on for a bit this weekend though! And I have no idea what happened to my picture- I'll ask Ly or Ger or someone later and see if I can get it fixed. I love you all, and have a good weekend! *hugs*

Zampanò and Johnny...Friday, March 15, 2002, 5:14 pm

Hello everyone! My spring break has been totally unproductive. XD I meant to start my research paper, read some class books, make kanji flash cards, etc etc etc. Nope.

Damn.

Anyway, what I have been doing over the last few days was reading a book by Mark Danielewski called House of Leaves, recommended to me by my friend Sarah Mussett.

There are only 2 words that come to mind when trying to decribe it. MIND FUCK.

But you shoud read it anyhow, if you can. I dare you. It's amazing... just difficult, twisted, dark, fucked up, confusing, and kind of scary. But when you finish, it feels like an accomplishment, like you fought your way through a pitch-black labyrinth and came out in one piece in the end. And it kind of reminds me of The Blair Witch Project, The Chronicles of Narnia, Catcher in the Rye, and anything by Murakami all mixed up into one psychotic book. So... enjoy.

Side note: Mark Danielewski is the brother of the lead singer of the band Poe, and their album "Haunted" is mostly inspired by House of Leaves. In fact, if any of you have that CD, there's a few songs on there where he's actually reading parts of the book aloud over Poe BGM's. (Again, thank you Sarah M. for that bit of useless trivia! XD)

Oh and for anyone who's interested- Moulin Rouge volume 2 soundtrack came out! Finally. I got it today at Best Buy. In fact, I spent too much today. I bought 4 new CDs and 5 new books. All for me... Oops! XD And that doesn't include the tarot deck I bought last weekend. *sheepish laughter*

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well. I'll talk to you all later! *hugs* I love you!

*dies*... Tuesday, March 12, 2002

Or rather... *isn't dead*. XD I survived! I can't believe it, but I did. Granted, I am really not sure how I did on my exams, but to be honest, I don't give a damn at the moment.

I hope everyone else is surviving crunch time! I HATE midterms!!!

Well, I'm on spring break. Finally. I slept until 2 pm today! XD Oh, I needed it SO badly though.

Anne-girl didn't get to come visit. ;_; But it wasn't her fault at all. Her car broke down last Friday, damn our luck. Everytime we want to get together, some random thing happens to prevent it. And Amanda didn't get to come to B'ton either! *sighs* Well, hopefully everyone will be able to make it for the weekend after my b-day!

Laur, you're in my thoughts, and I love you! If you need me, you know I'm here for you!! *BIG hug*

Sarah (that would be Mussett, for all those Sarah's I know! I don't want to confuse you all! XD XD), thank you for my reading. ^_^ It did help, and I appreciate what you said. I'll tell you more about it after we get back from break, but I have some semi-good news. (Semi-good being the optimist in me XD)

Anyway, I'll be around on AIM for those who wanna chat or something. *hugs minna* I love you all! And thanks for your support!

"Little solace comes
to those who grieve

seems a house of leaves

Sittin' Up In My Room
Brandy

Seems like ever since, the first day we met
There is no one else, I think of more than you
Can't seem to forget, can't get you out my head
Guess the verdict's in, I'm crazy over you

How can one be down, tell me where to start
'Cause everytime you smile
I feel tremors in my heart
I have but one concern, how can I get with you
Til my day comes, here's what, I'm gonna do

Be sittin' up in my room
Back here thinkin' bout you
I must confess, I'm a mess for you
Be sittin' up in my room
Back here thinkin' bout you
I'm just a mess, with a thing for you

Pray that you'll invest, in my happiness
All it takes is just, one simple call from you
Turn my heart around, if I'm making ground
Pretty baby please, tell me if I'm getting through

Tell me what is up, you see I need to know
Tell me if I'm far or, if I'm getting close
I have but one concern, and that one concern is you
Til I'm with you, here's what I'm gonna do

Be sittin' up in my room
Back here thinkin' bout you
I must confess, I'm a mess for you
Be sittin' up in my room
Back here thinkin' bout you
I'm just a mess, with a thing for you

How can one be down, tell me where to start
'Cause everytime you smile
I feel tremors in my heart
I have but one concern, how can I get with you
Til my day comes, here's what, I'm gonna do

Be sittin' up in my room
Back here thinkin' bout you
I must confess, I'm a mess for you
Be sittin' up in my room
Back here thinkin' bout you
I'm just a mess, with a thing for you

Wand : willow, contains single hair from the tail of a unicorn; gentle and whispy; perfect for performing enchantments

Pet : snowy owl; gift from a secret admirer at Hogwarts; she is affectionate and reliable, but has a bad habit of eating the snacks my mother sends me in the post. I decided to name her Blodeuwedd, after the Welsh Celtic goddess of flowers, lunar mysteries, and wisdom; her symbols are the owl and the moon.
