Chasing time on Monday, December 19, 2005...

Spent 2 full days struggling with the MT Berkeley DBs, which went and got themselves corrupted while performing a despamming operation. Developed a bit of pythonic appreciation for the Berkeley structure, as well as a newfound seething hate for spammers, after seeing rows of spam after spam as various blacklisting methods were utilised.

Even though the scores don't matter.. the end result does. *panic mode*

Ah well, best be off to try something new :) 2 weeks passed, now 2 weeks before return to camp; now to get some stuff done before the new year!

It seems true, then, that creativity is just a form of madness. Without upheavals and crazy swings in mood, which is now a mere static bleep on the oscilloscope, I no longer feel the urge to write, nor the urge to do productive things, ie, create. Boredom and routine make me suffer from ennui, productivity consequently takes a nosedive. Perhaps the only reason why I'm writing this is because I'm currently mood-wise perturbed by, well, the lack of creativity, and the loss of a impelling drive to soldier on (heh).

Always blinded to our true motives, are we not? Every action a farce and a lie, every thought a facade on the front of insidious mental desires wants? Analysing my own actions and thoughts make me sick at times; perhaps one's eyes are never meant to be opened twice.

Heh, which reminds me of my SAT essays, I wonder what depth is the critical thinking they pursue? Eyes opened once, or twice? Twice is hard to write, once seem to suffice on the face of the 6 pointer essays I've perused on the collegeboard site.

The test takers sometime give ludicrous facts, and they don't seem to bother to check. I'd raise the example where a student wrote "entropy...all states tend towards disorder; but with sufficient energy it can give out energy, and become exothermic." And the examiner still lauds this statement as a scientific analogy! Perhaps if I create a fictitious book, say, Whispering Depths, and comment that the complex social conventions of the era circumvent their constitutional rights, try make it sound more impressive, then weave this into my essay, perhaps they'd commend on my "critical thinking". English teachers they are, more probably I'd be labelled as a "critical liar" after a quick search on Google Books.

This gives me hope that I'd never have to buy a car :) Just a matter of finding a workplace next to a MRT. Preferably on the same line though, it appears I must make a gazillion switches at all these interchanges just to get to some stations.

And now for the corollary, Less work done when Time there is more.

Spent the entire day struggling to do something productive; an idle pluck of a nylon string here, an insouciant flip through scattered magazines there. Never got to the planning block as er, planned, but shall start tomorrow then :)

Horrible blank day, been zombie like, it's being like on top of a sinking ship, indolence seeping in from all cracks. Yet also, feeling lost. Never mind, tomorrow will be a better day!

Artificial artificial intelligence. Amazon's Mechanical Turk :)
