had abt 2 weird dreams last night..
i had breaks b/w this dream.. and was alternating b/w sleeping and waking, so can rmb..
got another weird dream a few days ago.. was having o level oral.. in the hall. and i got camera vision.. so was looking.. then noticed tt the 2nd last teacher.. was sharon au! nice hairstyle all tt.. and i was thinking, what's she doing here? then the camera zoomed in on the person nxt to her.. guess who? fann wong! wah. haha. not like i particularly like any of them.. and they got the same hairstyle tt i saw in the magazine.. haha. too stressed liao.
aiya. worse part of being sick now is tt my family bought durians! got real D24 durians, and also durian puff.. which they bought from this really gd stall.. and all they're products very nice one.. haiz. and can't eat. hmph.
oh ya, i'm missing ss and maths test. dunno gd or bad.. forgot abt ss test until like 6.30 ysterday. and got 6 chaps! dunno whether gd to miss not. haha. and watched a bit of sister act 2 juz now while eating breakfast! the 'o happy day' part.. so nice!!! 07:30 a.m.

Postholders and also.. HAPPY NATIONAL DAY SINGAPORE! POP.. was nice. and bandish. it started off with us playing the anthem and sch song all tt during celebrations.. after tt we had a talk w the sec3s.. abt acceptance and all tt.. and judging from some of them while we announced the post-holders, can see tt they're making effort then.. i think they'll be able to do it. oh ya, does anyone want me to post the list of office-bearers for 2004 online? or shud i even post the list? it's a longer list than last yr.. so anw.. the sec4s spent a really long time getting ourselves ready, cos muz prepare all the things to be passed on. then i didn't bring all the admin stuff.. which is not much also la, but nvm, can pass on to her another day. ya.. so.. i think our leaders will do a gd job.. we've no idea how the band's gonna turn out at the end of the yr, but we'll find out! haha. and also, nxt yr's com also got restructuring.. now there's a secretariat, and tt part includes secretary, treasurer and admin asst.. then also we're adding the SCs in the com, forgot to say tt last time. and one more.. but i forgot, i'll check it later.. after they received their posts and said the postholders' pledge, then as they stood in sedia position, then all the sec4s took out their sabo things and did all the stuff on the sec3s and 2s.. like draw on their faces.. me and joyce put floats on the SCs' heads, then only Doreen and Elaine (chin)'s heads could fit! haha. i'll let u guess what tt means.. then the others couldn't fit, so juz hang it on their arms.. then we're quite bad also, told elaine tt she was in sedia position, so she couldn't move the float.. then mingfang also put a lot of glitter on their hair, and they carried lipstick also.. i think the lipstick used to draw on the WOs' faces.. the poor WOs, got at least 4 plasters on their faces, red lines were drawn on their faces with the lipstick, and goggles over their heads.. haha. so funny. the percussionists also.. they drew with black paint or smthg.. on their faces, like moustache and everything.. also very funny. haha. after that, everyone went to the music rm to play the songs.. sec4s started first, and we were HORRIBLE! yes.. really.. like, half or more of us were sight-reading the piece, and couldn't play it well enough.. no impact. then the sec3s played this piece they compiled by themselves, called 'the last overture'. got lots of songs from braveheart, eagle bend, queenspark, concerto etc.. a lot of sad sad songs. then they played la.. i think they played the braveheart part better than we did. haha. at least ms sia didn't hear us.. but it's really too bad tt she and mr ong couldn't make it.. cos they went to japan in the morning, for some band thing la.. then we all assumed tt they knew POP was on friday, and turned out when i smsed her on thurs night, she didn't know! so i think they tried to change their plans but couldn't.. nvm, we give them their presents another day... then after playing, the librarians gave out the score of the last overture to the sec4s, carefully compiled, hand-copied.. got cover page, and binded by ribbons.. so nice! like.. they put so much effort.. i think they prac together for at least twice.. or at least spent tt much time on it.. then we sec4s ah.. haiz. haha. maybe cos got the newater thing, then like everyone couldn't make it, on all the days. then later, the 3 heads came in bringing a huge cake with the letters P-O-P and 3 big quavers.. so nice! and so big! haha. bought specially for us.. i think i've been a lot a lot more outspoken since last yr.. suddenly seemed to talk louder.. haha. and more freely. ya well, anw, then sec4s wanted to join the sec3s in playing, so we took chairs and played the last overture all together.. sounded nicer. well, only could hear the pple ard me.. so i think it shud have sounded nicer. oh ya... doreen didn't even know she got solo! haha. in eagle bend.. then wh was smiling and saying 'got solo ah..'haha. then she was a bit shocked.. haha. doreen seemed really shocked to become sl.. but we're happy for her =) ltr, we went back to the band room.. started giving out all our presents.. also gave present to mr wong, only to him, cos all the other teachers weren't there. so anw, then got chased out of the band room, even chased out of the track to the canteen.. only allowed to have gift-xchange in the canteen.. oh well. then it was super super super luan lor.. couldn't find our things.. too many things liao.. and cos the 3 of us shared for all of post-holders, then got extra bags to carry.. then in the end i had to bring 3 heavy plastic bags up the stairs.. then i think we spent abt 1hr in the canteen.. exchanging gifts and taking photos.. haha. qt fun. and running abt trying to rmb who we're giving what.. and i gave some pple extra oso.. cos i forgot who it was originally for.. then end up some other pple didn't get anything.. haiz. but shall try to make it up to them somehow! almost couldn't give out my letters also.. but lucky i gave out lor! haha. stayed up the previous entire night preparing everything.. it's qt gd tt i'm actually qt energetic during the thing..haha. then anw. received a lot lor! really a lot. even got a huge dog.. really huge, soft toy dog frm 6sec2s... then the section also give a lot of things, got hippo bedroom slippers, a thumb ring, and elmo helium balloon (i think it's elmo, maybe ernie.. but.. ya, shud be elmo).. and a photostated version of the section diary.. which is really interesting.. haha. shall find some time to read thru the whole thing. then in the end pack and pack and pack and managed to squeeze everything into 2 bags.. but when i reached home got some blisters on both hands.. haha. too heavy liao. but anw, it's much better now.. went for the outing in seoul garden.. alicia helped me carry my dog cos she got this really big plastic bag.. then we were supposed to go great world city for lunch, and the sec3s also wanted to go bowling.. (the recruits didn't join us.. which was too bad.) but sec4s protested.. and finally then suggested going yuk ching's house after lunch, and her house was like.. walking dist from the sch?! so decided to go j8 seoul garden.. sat and talked and gossiped and played truth or dare.. abt 2 hrs? we stayed there till like ard 5 plus, then rita keep telling us to eat more cos qt ex.. but we all really full liao. and during the lunch, we talked a lot.. qt a lot.. and can see the section bond together.. get closer. they all got very funny stories.. and we exchange stories, sometimes go round table.. talk and talk la. the section's got really friendly pple. can rmb, that's when they gave the diary and the thumb ring.. haha. said they chose it specially for me leh! haha. so nice of them. then after tt some gave us letters also.. u know, actually i think there's this really big 'misunderstanding' sort of thing within the section and myself? seems like they think i'm angry with them and tt they've given me lots of grief or smthg.. but really, i think to me, they've changed and improved a lot.. haha. i'm really not angry with them lor, even though they think so, nv disliked or hated them either, juz maybe a bit annoyed at times b4 syf.. which i think is pretty normal for an sl. haha. and i used to have the impression tt they didn't like me or smthg.. ya, but now dun think so liao, after we had a mini-section talk. but anw, so took this time to bond together la, as i said. then went to take neoprint.. haha. so many of us, so some of them dun have space to write words.. but we managed to squeeze.. then later went to yuk ching's house.. her mum's a babysitter, so there was this cute girl toddler there.. then she's really cute lor.. wanted to drink from my cup.. there was QOO.. haha. then she walked ard, clapped her hands, blew a kiss, laugh funnily oso.. watched he lan chun at the same time. and later went to take photos. wah! her bro. .i think sec3. so.. waste time lor! haha. i think the whole thing's qt funny.. then we stood on the stairs in the corridor posing and he was supposed to take.. then he kept pretending that he didn't know how to take, or got smthg wrong w the camera n he couldn't take.. then tt took up ard like 10-15 min.. then this old lady came and wanted to use the stairs to go up to her house. then he quickly and politely asked the old lady to wait a while, then he really really quickly took our picture nicely so tt we could make space for her to go up! haha. shows tt he was REALLY faking not knowing how to take photo.. so we quickly take la..then played uno in the living rm, then there's two stacks of uno cards combined, so got a lot of cards. then the game seemed to go on and on, we couldn't seem to finish! haha. so qt exasperating.. in a funny way.. then finally rita decided tt after the nxt person who 'game', the game would finally end. haha. so it did, after the 3rd person and playing for like 20-30min.. haha. went home.. was really tired.. haha. oh ya, did i mention.. i almost fell asleep in seoul garden abt 4 times lor! haha. cos rmb i din sleep the whole night b4 tt.. so qt sleepy lor.. then juz dozed off a bit for a few seconds, then very fast woke up again. haha. so when i reached home, i took out and compiled all the presents and read all the letters.. then put everything on the table.. then juz lay on my bed for a while. at least, lying on the bed was the intention, but i fell asleep abt 5secs after tt.. then only woke up at 8today.. haha well.. one thing abt this yr's pop, didn't really have that 'passing out' atmosphere.. up till now still dun feel like i'm out of band.. oso didn't cry during pop, only teared a little.. oh well. oh ya! muz find a date to meet the heads.. have lunch with them and discussion and all tt.. 8am today.. got ready, packed everything into a box, then abt 9am left house to a club near mich's house to study mep and physics with wh and mich.. covered mep la. but still have eroica to go.. eroica got so much!!!!! wah... haiz. muz memorise everything.. y muz we learn abt his love affair or his history anw.. haha. oh well. ya, cos got mep mock exam on monday. and got 7 tests nxt week!!! chi, chem, physics, mep, 2maths, and history.. history's the worst i think.. got 3 big chapters lor.. need at least 2hrs for one chap, 3 chap 6 hrs?! dun think i'll be able to finish it. got back in time to watch ndp.. wah, i think this yr's is very nice.. very modern.. ahha. saw philip tan!! he was the man on the centerstage jumping crazily, creating percussive sounds by beating on the different objects.. like skateboards all tt.. it's for the creativity. haha. no wonder he always looks so crazy and innovative.. but his songs really nice.. then he can juz come up w smthg on the spot. haha. very nice chords oso. oh ya, i like this yr's music for ndp! haha. they put on the music very loud.. could hear everything.. previous yrs i didn't have much impression of the music area.. then the song selection was nice.. except the band repeated a few songs for march past la.. but could hear their trombones so well! haha. well anw, this yr's ndp song 'one united pple' is nice too.. i like the harmony and chords.. nice jazzy unexpected chords here and there.. it's catchy too. and i think sun yan zi's voice is nice leh.. haha. she looks qt sweet up there.. but not like i'm gonna turn into a fan or anything.. haha. it was nicer than last yr's anw, last yr's was a lot more straight chords.. haha. then they also got those 3d display things .. so made the whole effect much nicer. i think seeing from home is nice.. u can see more things filmed than when u're there, though of course there's a greater atmosphere there than home la. but i muz say, this yr's parade was qt impressive. okay, i think i've typed for over an hour liao! haha. now it's 12:36.. started at 11:31pm.. haha. wow. long long entry. okay, gotta go sleep now, or else i'll fall asleep tmr in church! 11:31 p.m.

A GREAT SUCCESS for BAND!! wow.. today the band played.. the rehearsals for today and yesterday were not up to par.. not very gd.. then today, during the REAL thing, we suddenly played extremely well, for both songs.. better than on syf day itself! really man. the first beat of springtime.. they all already come in on time, everything more precise than usual.. the brass suddenly sounded louder oso.. a bit la, from what i heard, i couldn't really tell. and the tempo seemed almost perfect or smthg.. like, we suit that tempo really well. but even ms sia said we should have played like this for syf!! hahaha. ya, that's true.. then we could have gotten gold.. this was really gd.. but i'm not that worried abt the silver or gold thingy..i think as long as we're a gold standard, then the judges on that day a bit cranky or anything.. nvm la. but, must have gd standard.. i think by next syf we can get gold, cos ms sia will have more time with them.. i think ms sia's really nice.. quite lame oso. today kept giving a lame face and making some jokes.. interacting with the pple.. haha. but i'm still really excited that we played so well.. could see ms sia's happily surprised face when the clarinets played the first few notes of springtime well.. as in, they were together and everything, and the horns came in on time too.. maybe it sounded louder to me, cos their bells were facing my direction.. but i think it sounded gd! and concerto oso very gd.. jessica played the timpani.. that particular part where she screws up half the time, and does it really well the other half.. ya, today it was all there, and can hear the crescendo and everything.. hahaha. and also personally, i think i did much much much much better here than on syf.. syf day i kinda screwed up, so b4 we played, i was like telling myself, i screwed up on syf, and on both rehearsals, now i MUST play well.. esp to show the sch what we can play and make them wonder .. why didn't we get a gold!!? haha. ya. and i did play better! and i was like.. kinda praying softly oso, under my breath that kind of thing, cos so many band members ard.. and it was during the real interval, juz b4 it started.. ya.. and u know what? we did it! and jesus gave us the push.. can rememebr the verse 'i can do all things through Christ'.. was repeating it.. ya. . but anw, u get my point right? it's times like this.. u're really proud to be a band member. and i think our fanfare was quite gd too!!! we were really at our peak today! yay. haha. band rawks. 12:13 a.m.
anws, the BEST part of the whole trip was just as we reached, we had nothing to do, so the sec4s went outside to play some songs, mostly from memory.. and it was soo gd! we played concerto, springtime (of course..!), instant concert, eagle bend.. i think that's it. haha. but was really enjoyable.. these instances really make u wanna make more and more music, and go thru your whole file and play it together.. though we might be a bit messy at first, but if we practise sight-reading long enough, should be gd after a while! after all, last time when we sight-read, it was almost as if we had played the piece b4, cos the sight-reading skills of the seniors were really gd.
must really work towards a great standard in the band. in playing, in discipline, in drills.. everything. i've got different moods with band.. sometimes it's a place where i can relax and enjoy, sometimes it's really hectic, but i can find more purpose in life by helping out the teachers do this and that.. sometimes it's just a great time u have interacting with ur sqdmates (we've really bonded together more.. haha. that's gd! must work towards everyone working as a sqd..) sometimes i'm exasperated, cos of unco-operation and all that, and other things.. but mostly, it's a time where we get together, as a band, or as a squad, more like a group of friends together.. and we make music! haha. it's like. ya, this is what i joined band for.. we love music, we love playing music, together.. we're excited abt it.. this is band. 09:26 p.m.

dance got a gold!!!! wow!!! they got 87 points lor!!! the judges score was 90, 90, 90, 80, 81.. ha.. i dun like those judges tt gave 80 and 81.. haha. but congrats to dance!!!
haha.. actually very funny. yesterday adeline and felicia came into class during physics.. they didn't say anything then sat down.. so we all stared at them.. then Hide ran up to adeline and started asking 'how was it how was it?' then since i was behind, i couldn't see adeline's expression, but suddenly hide put her arm ard adeline la. so adeline suddenly started crying a little.. a little bit only la. then the whole class was quiet.. then adeline said 'we got gold...' haha. then the whole class clapped and cheered la. funny part is, mr gan also looking right? so once adeline cried and said 'we got gold' then he gave a big sigh, and shook his head and walked away a bit..
then mr gan said 'hai.. you girls ah.. got gold also cry, no gold also cry.. ' then he called me.. 'elaine, when u get the results did you cry? wuhui did you cry?' he very funny rite. haha. anws, didn't blog yesterday.. i wanted to say smthg but forgot.. oh ya. yesterday my cousin came.. she's sec1 age.. same as my bro. and they were using the comp and stumbled upon a website that offers free translation.. haha. it was pretty funny.. though a bit gross. they were typing those kind of gross stuff that appeals to pple their age.. anw, then they typed 'pang jour'. it's supposed to be the either hokkien or teochew word for 'urinate'.. u see what i mean by gross stuff? haha. anw, they clicked on 'english to french'. then it came out as 'jour de douleur'. so they put that in, and clicked on 'french to english'. and guess what came out? day of pain. haha. okay la. it was pretty funny yesterday.. anws, even cedar didn't get gold. and sin min got gold. compassvale got gold. there muz be some reason why we didn't. so that's what the evaluation by the sec4s is for. we're having it on monday to anw.. but for me anw, personally.. i think that there're lots of areas.. like, even myself, i don't think i put in enough effort. on that day.. my whole last page of springtime was rubbish lor.. i couldn't play well.. the tone everything, all spoilt. i think the worst thing that we feel now is regret. cos i think tt our band is perfectly capable of getting a gold. juz tt most pple only started working really hard a week or two b4 syf. and 1 or 2 weeks can't work miracles always, if u see it logically. we've been learning for 7 months. surely we could have realised it at least 1 and a half months b4?? anw, i think that i said this b4, but i'll say it again anw. we shouldn't wallow in self-pity. or give up hope. don't EVER say that 'we'll nv be able to get a gold.. what's the point of trying at all, or working hard' or smthg along the lines of that. don't ever do that. cos that means u're not even trying to get a gold. our band isn't lousy. i think it's juz that we have to make pple more dedicated to band. and make them WANT the band to do well, and for them to understand that it takes serious practise to do it. not long hours maybe, but at least practise efficiently.. maybe it's kinda no use for me saying this now,but this is what we can learn for the nxt syf.. it doesn't take an INDIVIDUAL to make the team. if one person practises day and night and is EXTREMELY fluent.. or plays near perfect, it doesn't mean our band gets a gold. what a band needs is for EVERYONE to be motivated to try. if u can't, try again. and u keep on trying. it's like a relay.. everyone needs to be gd, and in sync with each other.. it might be even slightly more difficult as it involves abt 64 pple. but it's not impossble why am i saying this after syf? haha. wrong timing. dance got a gold!!!! wow!!! they got 87 points lor!!! the judges score was 90, 90, 90, 80, 81.. ha.. i dun like those judges tt gave 80 and 81.. haha. but congrats to dance!!!

today wasn't our best day.. i think what we played during the rehearsal was better at some parts.. for some reason, the brass sounded soft today. and i made really a LOT of mistakes.. and so many notes couldn't come out.. like my throat was constricted or smthg.. not that i was very nervous or anything.. i'd prob be considered relaxed if u compare it to other pple.. anw, we were supposed to have seats, but some others took it, so we had to stay outside and only sls could stand near the stage to listen to the results. then wh and sy started crying there.. even b4 any results were out.. but i kinda didn't even feel like crying. at all. it was only when they announced 'band no. 48.. 49... 50.' then at the 49 part.. started really panicking.. then.. 'silver' la. so all the sls juz started crying... some juz straightaway sank onto the floor.. then got some guys from other schs wanted to go out.. had to pass our grp of crying girls.. bet they were kinda scared and gan ga.. tt's the funny part. but anw, ya.. i think i recovered really fast. dunno why. was trying to pull everyone together and stop them from crying.. we did become better as we talked more in the bus. i think sometimes talking can make u feel better... oso, on the bus, shermaine got an sms from charmaine (woon i think):
ya, after band ended, was abt 7pm.. then our sqd had originally planned to go for squad dinner, regardless of the outcome.. and so we did. in macs outside sch. haha. ya, it was really enjoyable.. we really pulled ourselves together, recovered really fast.. enjoyed ourselves and juz interacted as a squad during the meal.. 14 of us only, but gd enough.. debbie and yiting oso there.. but they mainly stayed with jl they all la, cos they're closer. i think the best thing is that after the comp, we didn't wallow ard in self-pity or curse the judges or anything.. we were disappointed, but we accepted it. so maybe annabel's prayers that we would accept watever outcome well were answered.. haha. it's gd tt we got together as part of a sqd and had dinner together.. i think our sqd's gone closer during syf prep.. it's really obvious tt so many of us have gone closer during this yr as compared to the last few yrs.. being in the leading sqd is really great. sec4s! r great. haha. oh, and last thing:

just now i was lying around thinking abt the rehearsal in vch on sat. i thought it one of our better band pracs. however, apparently many teachers became worried after listening to that. messy, should play louder, more contrast.. that sort of thing. the teachers have been saying that we've been practicing so hard.. now it's just time to be strong mentally and believe that we can do it.
however.. as i think abt it now, i realise that with all the practices i've done, i can't be deemed as hardworking. in the past months i haven't stressed myself out playing and practicing and practicing and practicing. does that mean i've not been hardworking? well. there could have been a lot more that i could have done. there could have been more sectionals. i could have helped to pull up my section and make us much better, as our score is not difficult at all. as compared to the clarinets and flutes.. our problem is the volume, and the tone. the tone. it's not gd yet. but i think it's not that obvious when we play together. moreover, during the rehearsal, poh leng didn't come.. and ms sia seemed to keep looking at me, and i dunno whether it's becos i'm playing too softly or loudly. tt's the way it is.. when one person doesn't come, the whole thing's upset. cos there are parts where we do some stagger breathing and all.. all that is quite disrupted.
here i am sounding rather not confident. but i think that confidence is the key point when we're playing. sometimes the teachers can tell when we aren't confident.. and that affects the playing. like the flutes. must motivate them! i think they can do it.. juz that they aren't confident enough. my own section.. i dunno whether i should ask them to stay back on monday for one hour to play together.. do the impt parts..i think they always rush.. and many parts where we're not supposed to breathe, also breathe.. should or not? i'll ask ard..
i find myself slightly affected by the words 'have faith'. it's gd to have faith. it makes u more confident that u can do it. of course, when u have faith, it muz be accompanied by the assurance that u have done ur absolute best. and really, absolute best effort. only if u've put in ur best, then do u deserve to say at the end that.. i've done my best. whatever the outcome is, i've done my absolute best and tt's what matters.
how many pple can say that? at least 40 pple, i hope.
tmr got ss test. i'm in no mood for ss. maybe i'm just in a slightly more weary mood after trying to memorise two chapters today. ah. i'm juz pessimistic today. haha. 10:26 p.m.
determination is what drives you. yesterday's band prac was rather different. during band practise, both mr ong, ms sia and other woman came, dunno who she is. anw, then ms sia test individuals outside while mr ong did us inside.. the basics. then we were quite worried, then when i look like joyce.. like she's gonna cry liddat.. haha. but i dunno la, maybe she always looks liddat. halfway in b/w, ms sia called me out.. cos this sec1 girl had met her friend at the forum gate, and asked her friend to climb over! the friend is frm crescent girls and wearing her sch u summore, still dare to climb over the gates of another sch.. sec1 only lor! wa.. then ms sia juz wanted me to note down tt kind of thing, and tell the girl to go GO to sign in and get a visitors pass. and when ms sia asked the sec1 girl why she stayed back in sch, then she said she got cca meeting.. and so we looked at each other and asked, 'then why r u here and not with ur cca?' haha. sec1s these days.. anw, back to band. after band ended, and only a few sec4s were near the music room, then ms jacob asked if mr ong said anything.. he didn't la, but we didn't think he thought we could get a gold. then during prayer meeting at the beginning of band prac we also like very pessimistic. come to think of it now, tt's one mistake we made.. we gave up right from the beginning! anws, as we were walking back to the band room, we met ms (susan) lim, then she said, 'go bring back the gold ok?' smiling and everything.. then we looked at each other and smile.. pause a bit.. and she knew tt we weren't very confident of getting a gold. so right there and then, she started telling us and encouraging us... like, we have to aim for gold, whether or not we get it, but we still AIM for it first. and lots of other stuff. like a motivational pep talk.. for me joyce and jl, we were all there. then i was quite motivated, cos she's really persuasive. and then very touched.. that actually there are so many teachers tt support us in syf.. really a lot, juz tt we don't see it often. then she asked if we wanted her to speak to the band, then of course we agreed! she was sure to talk them round and make them all motivated and everything too.. then as she left and got ready, then dunno why, valerie juz smiled and talked to us, then she put her hand on my shoulder.. then i started to laugh, then cry.. dunno y oso. haha. maybe juz touched tt the teachers are counting on us to get gold so much. ya. aiya.. anw, ltr ms lim came to talk.. then all 3 of us cried.. and by the time she finished, which was really late, then we were quite convinced tt what she said was true.. we have to put aside our fear of not getting what we want, concentrate on what we DO want, and aim there. it's all in the mind.. the kind of thing. and we're all certain tt we're gonna get a gold. if we maintain this mentality, we can do it!!! and so the sec4s were the last to go home ltr.. but in very very gd spirits, and we were talking and laughing loudly.. deciding tt we'd go to seoul garden after syf to celebrate.. haha. ya. oh ya, b4 we left, we did the band cheer. then very nice.. very loud.. very united. haha. but dunno y i stop crying liao, but my face still very red, as if i was still crying, even though i wasn't... then can tell some of the sec4s were worried.. but i wasn't!! haha. i stop liao. oso qianyi hurt tt knee again.. haiz. then she was in a lot of pain.. luckily it seems alright now.

DOUBLE CHAMPIONS!!! yay!! haha. track championships today.. DOUBLE champs! gd man. can see esp in the B division.. a lot of races they got very big lead.. we've got a great track team! haha. i think they are like the best, or one of the best (in terms of attitude, commitment, spirit... a lot of things) cca in our sch lor. we shouted a lot.. or at least i shouted a lot.. was with shermaine most of the time, leading the student body in cheering.. then they kinda cheer very soft, for our side la. then i keep shouting and shouting.. now my voice change liao, a bit hoarse.. hope it wun affect my playing too much. but then the races were good. and the IJ spirit was there!! when other IJ schools won awards, then they got very little cheers, or very soft ones, we couldn't hear.. so we cheer for them, and clap for them.. and shouted 'well done IJ!' yeah! haha. i like our school. but in terms cheering, cedar still better, they like came early in the morning to chope gd seats, then they cheer so loud.. we cheered when we got champion ah! but they still overall cheer louder la. muz get our pple to be more enthu next time. oh ya, then at the end, we carried the banners down, and move it ard the track and field, and align it.. then when they shouted like.. 'C division champion.. st nicholas girls school..' then we all jump up and down holding the banners, so tt it seems as if the banners are wiggling abt. then a lot of seniors were there too. some that we haven't seen for a long time.. some oso came to help us hold the banner. and narleen came back oso.. she's very pretty now! haha. i think our orange badge change the most.. in terms of fashion liddat, but the white badge all looking the same. attitude oso same as ever. both gd. lucky for us it didn't rain.. it rained in the morning, and there was a 2sec drizzle during the match, but then the weather was really gd, not too hot, quite cool and with a bit of wind. 09:02 p.m.
the first half of today was a killer. we had 3 tests, phy, chi and emaths, which should actually be okay. the thing is, supposed to be physics 1st period, chinese 3rd period, maths after recess. then ms choo came in in the morning and said that she's taking over 2nd period and giving us our maths test then. and tt totally upset a lot of pple's study plans.. i wanted to finish up some chi during eng(2nd period), and emaths during recess. and i didn't study for emaths. at all. totally. ya. haha. the worst thing is not the non-studying, but tt we had not much time in b/w papers, so it was like, do finish, then go straight to the next. and bcos of tt, i totally blank out for chinese. well, not totally, but i blanked out enough to fail i think. sighz.
oh well, enough of tests. every week there's a new one, so it isn't gd to dwell on one too long. muz be happy and not worry too much! haha. tt's why, we have to work hard!!! doubly, triply hard! but i really dunno how to motivate some of the band members.. i think some of them don't even care whether we get a gold, bronze or cop.. they're not putting in any effort at all. it's saddening. and it affects other people also. not forgetting tt it's irritating when u keep trying to tell them to practise, and the moment you turn your head, they're talking again. of course, ur popularity with them drops as they prob find u irritating as u keep telling them to practise. well, what to do. so many SLs have cried and tried really hard to get their sections to buck up. I can't seem to find a gd method. even my own playing isn't gd. yuck. my tone sounds bad, and very strained today. there's an syf list for band for 2003, u can find it here!
technic and articulation: 30% presentation: 10% interpretation: 10% oh ya, i think the story can be changed, the springtime story. the sad part doesn't seem sad enuff.. the bar155-166 part.. i've thought abt an environmental story.. where at bar102, there's suddenly a lightning bolt, and the forest catches fire. and it's a huge, immense fire.. goes on and on.. until the chipmunk faints.. he wakes up groggy. there's a haze around, very smoky, and for a while he doesn't remember. and i dunno what happens then at 155, he stumbles upon the place of fire, and can suddenly see lots of dead bodies, and a lot of friends.. tt's why it's the shock. hence the sad and building up melody.
alternatively, frm the original story, they are swept ashore onto an island. and there's something fishy abt that island. it starts of with the magical effect. hence the magical, beautiful theme by the horns. but this is a kind of illusion.. they're all kind of transfixed by the island and it's scenery.. but the thing about the island is that, eons ago, there was this fire there. and the forest kept that horrifying memory of the fire.. even after thousands of years. so, as the chipmunks moved closer to the forest and away from the beach, they could suddenly see lots of things, as if they were there themselves. the closer they got, the more vivid those images were.. (this is the 155 part) until they were all horrified and shocked and utterly sad for all the animals who lost their lives in the forest. they could practically see all the fear and panic written on their faces, and feel the torment and agony of those which were burnt.. and then, the aftermath. where a few survivors scouted for their loved ones, tried to find their homes... and u know the rest.
suddenly, the images and the mist clears up, and they're standing before a lot of graves. it's bright and sunny, with some birds chirping around. a happy day. and they pray for the souls of the animals who died.. that they would rest in peace. and that's how the scene ended. nice, in major key, with new hope. and the next scene is the same. yay. i like the story. it's a distraction from practice though. doesn't help much unless we have combine. i hope we'll prac a lot on saturday. hope we'll do well. pray tt everyone, and i mean EVERYONE, will finally realise how there's really so little time to practise, and pray that everyone will work hard to help us achieve our gold. as this speaker last week said, it's not achieving a gold to compare with other schools.. like 'haha, we beat tt school! we're better than them', or that sort of thing. it's more like, we've set ourselves this standard, and this goal of achieving a goal. if we do get a gold, we've achieved our goal. we've met up to our own standards. it's for ourselves, to beat our last record, and to set a new one. we don't need to compare with others, because the real competitor here is ourselves. fruits basket still rocks! there's this series of songs, mainly called memory. there's memory for you, memory at home, memory in daily life, memory at vacation, ..and ... shuukyoku!! the epilogue, with the same theme. oh man. the theme is juz so sad, and it gets to you, if u're thinking tt kind of sad sad thoughts. i think i'll do the grad song on those chords... the chords r beautiful. yea!

well, the sec4s came up with a story to accompany springtime, hopefully to help them know the story more and get more expression, esp when we play the slow part. trouble was we got into a bit of trouble on sat cos we spend too much time discussing, then eat into sectional time, ms sia not very happy. ya... so a bit guilty la. but we'll make it up by being extra hardworking the next few pracs. we have to anw. anw, here's the story:
scene one:
soon, they see a small area where they think could be a gd place to live in, so they happily put their luggage down and r preparing to move inside. however.. *dum da dum..* they open the door and come face to face with a huge wild boar (it's huge to them, they're tiny) and it gives a derisive grunt and snort.. then there're suddenly a few more wild boars appearing behind it.. so the poor little chipmunks get scared and quickly scamper away.. the song's still very light.. (i like the chipmunks!)
the chipmunks find that they can't find a place to stay in that area, so they decide to cross a river and go to another part of the forest. (it's bar70 liao..) so, they get on this nice rowboat and the guy chipmunk rows and the girl chipmunk sits, looking fresh and pretty, admiring the scenery.. it's a calm river.. with a slight breeze to push them along.. then comes a few doves which glide alongside them (tt's the flutes)so it's happy.. then suddenly. there's a gust of strong wind. they become surprised at the change. then! there's a fierce and loud bolt of lightning! they become panicked.. the girl clutches the sides of the boat frantically... the boy wobbles a bit & fights for balance (as he was standing rowing the boat juz now). the waves grow stronger and bigger, torrents of rain starts to fall.. they try to reach for each other, but the waves are too strong and they can't stand.. and in one swift moment, the small rowboat overturns and they are tossed into the raging waters.. (now imagine bar114..) in the waters, they struggle for breath grasping blindly towards the shore, but can't fight the currents and waves pushing them down.. and finally. they sink down. all goes black..
scene two: (now imagine bar148, where the flutes play the decorative thingy..) suddenly, a shooting star appears in the night-sky.. as it falls, the little chipmunk girl clasps her hands together and wishes on the shooting star, that she'll find her friend again, soon. (she doesn't know that the other chipmunk was also wishing the same wish on the same shooting star..)

Somewhere out there suddenly, they each see a slight silhouette a distance away.. wonderingly, they each take a step closer and closer.. and finally realising it as their partner, they are overwhelmed by a rush of joy and relief.. and starting running.. and finally! the climax of the story, they reach each other and are locked in a warm embrace (bar 166). (compliments of carlyn, she came up with this part..) the music decrescendos from here.. this is a tearful reunion part. relieved at having found one another, they slowly sit down together and admire the starry sky.. the girl's a bit overwhelmed by the day's events and is getting sleepy.. she rests her weary head on his shoulders, and he puts an arm around her.. they rest in that position for a while.. and when he thinks she's asleep, he whispers an 'i love you' softly..(tt's the trumpet), but the girl's actually awake. with a soft contented smile on her face, she doesn't move, but says 'i love u too', still with her eyes closed and everything..(that's the flute). the boy is surprised for a while, then smiles to himself.. and soon, they fall asleep.
scene three: ok, so now it's bar 231.. they have to find a home. very easily, they find a nice unoccupied spot, and lay their things down and start hammering and chopping wood and building a nice comfortable house.. (the hammering's made by the xylo..) sometimes other animals like birds or rabbits help them oso. they finish building really fast, and straight after, they go and tell all the other animals to go to their house that night for a house-warming party! so that's bar247, where all the animals start to come.. and the music gets denser and denser, meaning there're more and more animals coming.. everyone's happy, eveyone's partying in the nice big house, some are drinking punch outside where there're a few tables.. and a burst of fireworks mark the grand finale.. (bar 272 onwards).. and everyone watches and admires the fireworks, the little kids jump and point excitedly, open-mouthed.. and our 2 main characters? ah boy's got his arm slung ard ah girl's shoulder, and they beam at each other and admire the fireworks together..
nice story? it all got a little more detailed here. haha. i like it. 08:50 p.m.
12:16 a.m.
okay, it's not really an adventure, but here's how it goes: i'm happily doing my work on the computer, then suddenly my mom screams from the kitchen and calls me to go there.. ya, so when i go there, she has this pained and laughing frown on her face, she's also laughing la, and she's holding a broomstick and clutching the top of her shirt closer to her.. and wearing slippers in the kitchen, almost jumping a little.. and she tells me there's a lizard near the kitchen doorstep, and she killed it by pouring lots and lots of hot water, so now it's dead. ya, she was actually looking high and low for it, and it turned out to be juz near her feet, so she screamed la. then came the ordeal of getting rid of the lizard. that's what the broomstick was for anw. so she clutched her shirt tighter, was obviously on her toes, with the same expression, squealing a bit, then took one great swipe at the lizard with her broom, then hopped back and screamed. and when i say scream i mean scream. and summore it's so late, dunno what the neighbours will think.. haha. she wanted me to sweep, but i was too scared of the lizard, kept imagining it wasn't really dead, but gonna pounce any moment, so i didn't wanna do it. so she did it again, sweep it towards the back door out of the house, another great swipe! and now it was out of the house! (i had juz cleared the shoes away to make space for the lizard.) ya, but we couldn't juz leave it right outside the house rite? or else tmr morning it'll be worse with my mom, my brother, AND my sister screaming. i'm not a screamer. haha. ya, so muz sweep now. so she swept it one more time.. muz rmb, after each great sweep, which she did with her eyes closed, she would really jump back a lot and scream! a short but shrill scream.. i couldn't stop laughing a bit. yup.. that's all for today's edition of 'a kitchen adventure with a lizard', stay tuned for more! it might be cockroaches next, or juz mrs. lizard. 11:50 p.m.
then there, i saw the rest of them! cheryl, qingling, joanne, even charmaine! and they all got this pianist to play for them, those that specially play for ur exams one la.. that kind, and they had to pay him like 30 bucks for every hour of practicing.. and it's really so much money! but the thing's that i kinda wannted to play for them there and then, cos they're all singing the same songs anw, and i wanted to hear how cheryl sang during the exam, cos i wud really like her to get gd marks, cos she sings really well, to me, the last time i heard her la. now she say she deproved. but i can't say anything, i nv heard her really sing nowadays, but it can't be that bad.. and qingling! she's the forever distinction one. haiya. haha. it's my fault actually.. haha. cos i at first told them that i couldn't play, cos my mum says it takes up too much time.. then last minute michelle couldn't find a pianist, so i agreed to play for her. ya, so a bit unfair la. but.. haiya. haha. anws, it's over.
syf is in slightly over a week! 12 days precisely. oh man. our standard is horrible.. how to get a gold?? and everyone like so slack liddat, except certain sec4s.

 so she had to stay in a tent in the woods.. so poor thing rite? haha. quite funny oso. then one day in the 1st week she was staying there, she came across a house, where yuki and shigure lives.. they're both from the sohma family. and everyone from the sohma family, when hugged by someone by the opp sex, will change into an animal.. there r 12 of them altogether, but that house only has yuki, shigure, and kyou.. and she moves in..and this is the pic where she first finds out their secret..  and the story goes on... but it's very nice!! haha. and the soundtrack makes it nicer!!! and i like kyou! he's the blondish-orange haired one at the right..shigure oso, he's the tallest one in the 1st pic.

today's band prac was not bad.. mr ong came to teach again, his philosophical-like ideas abt music. it actually sounds less boring than it did last time, maybe becos i know my tone's gone really horrible.. yuck, my tone.. ahh.. anw, ya, so muz improve myself rite? must try to be consistent in my playing, which i not really am.. so, listen quite intently. then after a bit of practicing, it came back! haha. for a while. hopefully next band prac it'll still be there...
now syf is so near, muz really really practise hard, though i think a lot of pple not taking it seriously. but really, i muz promise myself to work hard on this one.. and muz try to teach wendy more oso, cos she's the only sec2 in my section, aside from bixiu la, but she's still a recruit, so muz train wendy first. wendy's tone is actually not bad u know. juz that she plays really softly, so no one can hear, i think it's the lack of breath.. i oso, can't hold very long notes.. , anw, i think wendy's not a bad person lor, except she doesn't talk much to us, so tt's why we gotta make the first move! i hope very soon she'll learn fast.. i think she got the potential, can prob play quite well if she tries harder.. yupz.
now sec4s are allowed to try each other's instrus. the sad thing is, on thurs i could play the scale on the trumpet, today cannot!!! haiya.. nxt band prac i MUZ try again. xintian's really gd lor, i think she can play ALL the brass instrus, and play it well some more. cos last time she got try all b4, but anw.. so gd lor!!! haha. i muz try harder..
i'm liking my music lessons more and more.. today mrs hong suddenly got more inspiration for romantic period pieces, so she asked me to play this particular piece first la.. it's one of those which i'm playing for e mep exam.. then usually she juz goes thru and doesn't say anything, only bits here and there.. but today there was so much detail, so much more expression, makes the piece sound much nicer. she's a really really really REALLY gd musician.. she didn't even need to look at the score, she was staring at the pictures on the wall and listening, then there was this part i didn't tie the note to the next phrase, then she keep making me play again, and couldn't figure out why she thought it didn't sound right.. ya, and finally corrected me. but she did that juz listening to the chords, not even looking lor! wow.

that was just now. now i've kinda simmered.. but still, a bit incredulous at other pple.
came home quite late, cos mr ong prolonged the tuition session.. then come home only at 8.20 liddat.. late for online discussion.. but realised that none of them were online.. then until now qianyi haven't come yet.. maybe she didn't check her hp. my parents r out for dinner today.. so i'm stuck at home w my bro.. ltr muz study for bio prac test. haiz. quite hungry.. shall have dinner ltr.. and go bathe.. funnily i'm not as tired as i usually am, maybe bcos last night i slept early.. cos last nite my sister was making such a great big fuss, extremely irritating, i really wanted to scold her, but couldn't cos the insurance agent was here.. really, i've never seen a ruder person than her, not p2 girl, but PERSON. ya, so i was really exasperated and quite angry, and couldn't concentrate on my work. so i juz went to my bed and lay down and waited for them to go to bed, then i would return back to the study rm to continue my work. well, inevitable became sleepy after lying on the bed, and din wake up until 11.30, which by that time i was tired and sleepier.. so i juz slept there and then. din finish my hist hw. totally unproductive night.
i think i'm not in a very gd mood now.. haiz. changed the template. again. when i'm online and have nothing to do..not nothing to do but waiting for something. this is what i seem prone to do.. waste of time actually.. now muz concentrate on studying, every week got really minimum 3 tests, next week there's 4 tests, and might be another one oso. actually... do i sound stressed? i'm not stressed.. haha. but i do sound so. ok.. i'm much better now.. not so irritated animore.. after i've had my bath! more refreshed. yupz.
assembly was gd. sec3 nominated excos were in charge, they're programme was gd, and the participants made it even better. cos it was to find the most enthu person, enthu, socialble, sporting.. a really gd youth.. for youth day. cheryl sim won.. she really was very sporting and enthu abt it.
i'm accompanying debra for her voice exam too.. she's quite gd le. i like her tone. but sometimes a bit soft.. but still very nice. got some vibrato some more.. she reminds me a lot like sheena. her speech. her love for singing. her jumpiness.. her wave-her-hands-a-lot-ness. yupz.
