our sec4 squad juz set up this thing, where we come early for band prac or on our free days and practise within ourselves.. squad prac. it's more to get accuracy of timing, rhythm, and to be more critical of each other. we tried today, and it was quite okay at first.. until the sec3s and 2s came in, made a lot of noise.. so we couldn't hear the radio and became so messy.
mr. ong came today and went through both songs with more detail. quite good. but muz realise that it's only 2 weeks to syf and he's doing it now still?? a bit late.. then he had to leave at 5, so we spent the rest of the time practising for morning assembly.. spartans, national anthem and sch song. ahh.. so many pple complained that it's so bad! like serene.. 'what happened to the band today?' or 'the bass drum was so loud, and didn't even sound like a bass drum.' ack. so we practised today. much much much better, mrs wong says. hope we keep it up.

my brother's room went through a mini 'renovation' today.. moving ard of a lot of furniture there.. now there's 2 beds in there, and none in my room. haha. i'm gonna sleep on the floor today.. mattress. will be quite interesting la.

haha.. just substituted the 'me' for 'sunkissed! the freshmaker'.. cos emmiline remarked that it looked really fresh, and tempting. dunno la. maybe quite.. but it looks quite dark coloured to me.. brighter better. anw.. it still goes.. sunkissed.
it sounds really enthu. a bit unlike me. well, when i'm in an unenthu mood, i shall change it again.. haha.

went to tkgs for exchange program, together with north vista and jin yuen. totally threw face. and tkgs was good. esp their choice piece; power man. almost all their sections played seamlessly.. big contrast to us. i think we're the lannest there.. even worse than jin yuen, well, maybe not north vista. but north vista is good, considering the oldest is only sec3. haiz. maybe it was bcos we didn't warm up at all and juz started playing.. ms sia said she was embarressed to conduct us, and i'm not surprised. we seem to play our worst for all the impt times, like in nyp, and in today's exchange... and all the normal times we play quite ok. maybe it's tension... that's bad.
my left foot's hurting quite a bit today.. actually, it came from a cut i got early in the week, cos the back of this shoe i was wearing kept cutting into the back of my feet, and the skin tore, and got a bit of blood and all that. but it was bearable.. only it opened again today. horribly. i was walking alongside emmiline, who was holding her euphonium, and it sort of swings as u hold it and walk, so it swung and the bell hit right into that same wound. urg. blood. torn skin. plasma. imagine: flesh meets metal. well, hopefully it'll heal fast. and no offence to emmiline.. it was cut before that, so no need to feel guilty or anything k? haha.

was in a really weird mood today, did a lot of dumb stuff.. haha. during tuition too! ya, the first thing was when wuhui smsed me to ask me to help her see if epb sold any hp catridges, and i kinda didn't read it probably, so i juz remembered the 'hp' and the 'c' in catridges.. and juz misintepreted the whole thing as 'handphone carriers'. haha. was laughed at by wh, serene, mich and hanwan the whole of tuition.. some more when mich asked me for a clip, i couldn't really hear what she said and juz handed her the calculator. and the only similarity b/w calculator and clip is that they both begin with a 'c'. dumb me. haha.
tuition was more fun today anw, with us laughing the whole time.. i think serene also found it quite funny; it's probably makes tuition seem more interesting to her since it's only her 2nd time there..
sports day is coming! and we gotta join in the contingents... i would really much prefer it if we could be with the band. haiz. and it's our last yr some more. oh well.

today's band prac was a lot more tiring than tuesday's.. maybe cos we're still suffering the after effects of tues's full day band prac. so.. must practise to get stamina! try anw. then ms sia asked me to take them for combine for the last half hour.. and we had it in the forum, which was a bad idea. cos there's echo all ard, so the whole thing sounds really messy. plus.. my conducting skills are.. not so good. haiz. esp since mr. wong was sitting there watching!! haha..

oh yes!! was just reading back the entry on the SAJC concert, and also alicia's blog.. and got reminded of this part when the band played one part of 'a day at the circus', and they brought out these 2 puppets, the kevin brothers.. and one of them had to be thrown ard.. imagine the cow jumping over the moon. yah. anw, someone in the audience shouted out: 'animal abuse! what if the spac complains..?' or something like that, in slightly more singlish terms.. and the emcee replied, "sorry if i offended your family.'
so funny! well, maybe not to that person, but, it still is quite a witty retort right? haha..

had a long band prac today.. 8.30am to 4.30pm, but i think we're learning to be able to handle that kind of hours... it was a little more tiring in the afternoon, but i think it's becos we were outdoors in the forum, and the weather was really hot and humid. otherwise, we wud probably have been able to play quite alright.. the forum gives us this 'false sense of confidence', cos when we play there, we sound nice. but in actual fact.. u know.
went to ms loh and ruth's condo clubhouse after band prac.. for this leadership 'retreat', as sheena calls it. or somebody la. was quite relaxing.. mostly on reminding us of our roles, our values, personal reflection.. plus some games and stories to share.. haha. played 'a ding & a dong'.. was actually more successful than any other time that i'd played it before!
this meeting was quite good in the sense that, it met some of the objectives laid out, and reminded us of ourselves as excos. cos it's been a long time since we've done anything together as that, since invest. ok, so it's not very long.. abt a little more than a month, but still...
yup. so even though the meeting ended late, reached home like ard 11 plus, and had quite a tiring day, i really wudn't mind such a 'meeting', or 'retreat' again. it's fun. and it bonds us together. keeps our spirits up. i'm now more cheerful than i usually am at this hour. haha.

juz added the link to the website for the tokyo kosei wind orchestra.. didn't realise their actually not a very big band.. but can still produce that type of sound.. woa.
oh ya, juz went to this great website, http://www.bongbass.com/.. not that i especially liked the content, but the person, a bass guitarist who worked with a lot of artists like sandy lam, jacky cheung, mavis hee, emil chau etc, put music into almost all the webpages, and the music is cool. the kind of bass guitar, electric guitar type.. though it's probably only in midi format.
i think i'm suddenly on an 'instrumental music' high.

food and funfair on today.. was at the haunted house ard 7-1pm, as the phantom. wearing a mask. a lot of primary kids were really scared, and some of them started crying even before entering the maze, probably cos they were scared by Hide. haha. she's quite good at acting the part, together with the red cheongsam and white face. and a lot of those who were scared kept pushing against our makeshift walls, made out of garbage bags or cloth.. and obviously, they came down. at one point of time, 7 partitions were down.. and we had to switch on the lights to fix them. ugh.. why can't they keep their hands to themselves? haha.
the guys were the worst. not scared. or at least, they acted so. one pair, from catholic high i think, were quite insulting.. after flashing the torchlight in my face for a while and walking off to the nxt point, one guy said smthg like 'enough lah, don't scare them.' don't scare us?! crazy.. if the light was on, he would prob see me rolling my eyes. the idiots. they even pushed some of the others ard, literally.
anw, our food sold semi-well.. pple liked the cheese fries, but not the popcorn. wonder why, i think it was quite nice what.. maybe cos they didn't try it to find out how gd it was for themselves. haha. well, we started with 1 dollar for a pack of popcorn and cup of orange juice.. towards the last 15 minutes of the funfair, we still had so much left! that in the end, we sold 3 drinks or 3 popcorn packs for 1 dollar. and a lot of pple bought... brought them back in plastic bags.. haha. last attempt to get rid of tickets in an extreme bargain.
after the fair, i went to the SAJC band concert with some other sec4 band pple.. it was really good compared to OUR band. yup. was especially impressed by a trumpeteer and the saxophone section.. but i think the band didn't do as well as they could have, as a whole.
anws, that's not the best part.. for the last song 'a day at the circus', which would be pretty normal if they hadn't brought out the 'st. andrew's circus band'! haha. that really got the audience's attention, cos it was done in the center or front of the auditorium, and their antics were hilarious. in a lame way. which is still hilarious. and they played 7th night of july!! i had forgotten how nice it was..
the sajc student conductors were fabulous. really great. crystal and emmiline r asking me to conduct the same way.. haha. i think they'll probably laugh once i lift the baton up, after telling them that i wud be trying then of course. i'll probably laugh too. ya, and there was this cute clarinetist too.. was the singer in the stage band, consisting of 3 electric guitars, a jazz set, and the singer. not bad, considering he had a sore throat.. and his 'fan club' i think, kept screaming his name and cheering for him from time to time.. haha. quite funny.
in all, i think what made us enjoy the concert was not only the gd music, but also that the pple were very.. together with the audience, mainly cos of the emcees. they were able to come up with witty retorts to some loud remarks from their friends in the audience.. and gave the rest of us a gd laugh. it's a fun band.

today began with a debate.. b/w 4grace and 4 unity.. it was really good, much better than our debates within the class. haha. both sides really gave us a lot to think abt throughout the whole thing.. one minute i think the prop's gonna win, then when i hear the opp, i think they're points make a lot of sense too. Personally, i think desiree shud have gotten best speaker.. she could bring abt her points such that i actually understand what she said and agree with it also. But eva's not bad either. yup. very clear voice.
lucky we didn't need to do eng compre today.. spent the rest of the time doing up the haunted house. it looks almost complete now! i'm supposed to be the phantom.. but rebecca says i look weird w the mask on. haha. well, nvm la... juz hope tmr i won't be freaked out while doing my duty, cos it's gonna be pitch black. and with all that freaky furniture behind me.. ugh. luckily adeline's not doing, or she'll be more freaked out than me..
oh ya. a few days ago, our class had a cocktail party, and our group got a chance to listen to adeline's supposedly 'wedding' story. haha. was really funny lor.. according to her, she met her 16-yr-old male counterpart outside the toilet.. she had forgotten to pay 10cents to enter, and then he had to chase her all the way somewhere... in the process got smitten with her (dunno why) and proposed. yah. ridiculous right? but that's adeline. and they're like gonna get married in the forum nxt month or something.
yup. tmr's gonna be one heck of a day.

tmr's there'll hardly be any lesson in school at all, cos we're only having the Sec 4 debate during assembly, then it's prep time for food and fun fair! I'm starting to feel more and more excited bout it.. cos todya got all those delivery trucks and all bringing the various stuff to school. the st nicks 'lifesprings' water bottle isn't too bad either!though i guess it's quite 'copycat' cos it's nothing more than a st nicks version of newater. well, it's still not bad.. it's nice to see something so 'st nick' personalised. yup.
it'll be one heck of a day tomorrow man.. finally we'll have a whole day to finish up the haunted house in the archive room, and also the food stall in the netball court..
i think our haunted house is gonna be great! a lot of pple from Hope says it's quite scary.. cos the archive room itself is said to be haunted. haha. well, it is a bit freaky if u go there urself lah, but.. there's someone up there watching over us yeah? haha. yupz. anw, hope we can finish in time.. cos i don't think it's all that ready yet. though the 4 hope pple have been doing a tremendous job so far! *cheer* yep. quite impressed. as well as the other 4 wisdom pple of course.. haha.
kimberly (my p2 sister) is getting excited about the viking ship. I think she'll like it.

went to nanyang poly to rehearse for syf today.. tkgs was there! compared to them, i think we are really not up to standard. and all the teachers said we sounded horrible the first time we played, but by the lsat time we did make a huge improvement. maybe cos we were a bit tense the first time round
mr ong kept correcting us from the audience seats the whole time we played lor.. and i think he irritated ms sia also.. which i'm not surprised at. she's the one conducting lor. haha. in the end, ms sia just put down the stick and told him to come up and conduct us himself..
dumb problem of brasses being too soft again. this time, the woodwinds say they can't hear us at all! i think i shall try the playing-across-the-field method..

today's band prac was bad. just remembered it after reading wuhui's blog.. peishan says we sounded totally unbalanced.. couldn't really hear the brasses, only the woodwinds. then everything didn't sound clear. in all, it was a mess.
we're going to nanyang poly on monday to rehearse.. 500 bucks paid for that, we better put it to good use. But what's the use if we aren't able to play it properly? worse still, a lot of band pple still aren't trying hard enough.. that's my opinion at least. My section needs me to tune them.. can't they learn to tune themselves?!
i think my section's a little weird. or it might be me being the problem. i don't think i've been a very gd sl so far.. maybe i'm a little impatient with them. haiz. somebody teach me how to deal with this!!
moreover, i think i'm playing wrongly.. i think i'm still using a little from mouth and little from stomach, although i try. and i'm sure shiyun tries too. peishan also says my section is soft. SOFT. trombones supposed to be loudest lor.. she also said me playing equals all, or most of them playing. dunno if it's true.. but i know xinyi's loud too. i could actually hear the 3rds today, when xinyi was here.

just came home from school... there was this meeting for the school cca leaders today.. which was really fun! very enjoyable..ms oh and ms loh even bought potato chips, grapes, logans, and cold canned drinks for us! it started off with a video about FISH! It's abt this people working in Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle, and how they have fun in their job..
yupz. they have fish-flinging! they throw the fish around the place.. have lots of fun during work time, while still working really hard. They've got 4 easy steps to learn from:

ahh. got the balloting results for SYF today.. our date's 8 April, Tuesday.. which is like, 4 more weeks?! that's scarily near.. i dun think we're prepared at all, unless we wanna get a a bronze? or even COP.. but i dun wanna think abt that.
sec4 D's class assembly item was really good! it was on the theme of sisterly love.. very creative.. they did this mtv award thingy, with the nominees F4, Blue, Enrique Iglesias, and 'diligiants' or something. haha... was quite funny during the F4 part, cos half of the sec4s, mainly diligence, were cheering like xiao, and the other half were laughing to ourselves, or giving that look. hahas. can F4 sing? 'no...' well, that's what i think at least. hahas.
anyways, the diligiants were singing this song.. i think it's called sisterly love.. was so funny! sung to the tune of 'one love' by blue.. instead of one love, they said 'sisterly love'.. and was quite weird, and funny. cos they were a bit out of tune too. on the whole.. it was good!
our class will be doing a musical for class assembly.. but i'm having doubts about how it's gonna turn out already.. a musical's rather large scale. gotta find suitable music, fit in lyrics, compose a brand new tune for originality (to be more wisdom-personalised), and must also make sure that the people acting can sing in tune, and can also act well. wellz. hopefully after the script's out, we can do everything smoothly..

just wanted to give out a last minute thankew.. and the grand prize goes to none other then... michelle! haha. ok.. over drama. anw, thx for helping me FINALLY get a name. yupz. goodness knows how much time i spent, or wasted, trying to cook up one.. even went to www.freetranslation.com to convert words to spanish, dutch, french etc...! haha. tt time was quite wu liao, and i didn't know what else to put after 'crab, chilli, apple, cream', so i wrote 'wu hui is a something pig'. yep. i forgot what kind of pig i wrote.. so anw, doesn't matter. hahas. okok.. shan't tease her animore..
ok. i support choir! (specially dedicated to choir pple).. i shall help tui jian to everyone tmr.. choir lunchtime concert at 2pm rite? hope it's really good.. i think they're gonna sing their syf piece. heard that one of their conductor's said that st. nicks choir got potential to get into top 5! so hopefully tmr's a really really good performance..
food and fun fair's coming in a week.. and i still feel don't feel a great great great urgency yet. not good. the class is in a mad hurry to find a sponsor, or we'll have to fork out a hefty sum each.. i really hope our haunted house's gonna be a success.. but i still feel that i haven't done anything to help the class in the food and fun fair.. sigh. nvm, tmr i shall make up for it, and drag the rest to help in the games too! compulsory attendance anyway, for those who are free.. shud come down and help, otherwise it seems that our class is slacking a lot.. which is quite true.
got a sudden urge to write about PM room. PM room!! haha. hot pink. ikea. white shelves. souvenirs. potato chips... kimberlitic... welfare and discipline comm rocks! esp the welfare heads. fel, wendy, peis.. can't do without them.. haha. dunno why suddenly thinking abt PM invest.. which was abt a month ago. nvm.. mexcom, and not forgetting PEXcom.. we rock!

haiz.. tmr got a maths differentiation test.. who knows how long differentiation is going to take ms choo to teach? well. i'm kinda slacking now, and listening to a few selections of songs from spirited away.. i think piano music is nice! yupz.
today was really tiring.. and i'm not too sure why myself. i almost fell asleep sitting up straight during band when ms sia was tuning the clarinets! darn heavy eyelids.. I'm really gonna try hard to be more strict with the band, though my attempts so far are quite unsuccessful. hahas. ok... must try harder! and i also realised i forgot to order a ticket for mingfang for the SAF concert! and she was the most enthu about it too! haha. nvm.. i think she's planning to gatecrash.. some more her friend is in the SAF band.
