WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 2002

--Now you can `get milk' and own a piece of milk mustache history. A new coffee table book celebrating the success of the Milk Mustache campaign entitled ``Milk Mustache Mania'' is making its debut nationwide on May 1.

Published by Scholastic and written by Bozell New York's Bernie Hoyga and Sal Taibi, ``Milk Mustache Mania'' features a collection of the newest and most coveted milk mustache ads starring music, sports, TV and movie stars who are popular with today's kids and teens. Britney Spears, Carson Daly, Mark McGuire, NBA and NFL players, and lots more are featured, along with behind-the-scenes stories about each photo shoot and a look at the making of this popular ad campaign. The new book retails for $9.95 and is available at bookstores and schools nationwide.

``Milk Mustache Mania'' is the second book that celebrates the Milk Mustache campaign. The first book, entitled ``The Milk Mustache Book: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at America's Favorite Advertising Campaign,'' made it's debut in September 1998, sold more than 200,000 copies and was on the New York Times best-seller list for several weeks. With initial orders for the new ``Milk Mustache Mania'' reaching more than 75,000 copies, Americans are already eager to `get milk' again.

``We are enthusiastic about initial response to `Milk Mustache Mania,''' said Sal Taibi, co-author of ``Milk Mustache Mania'' and senior partner and director of account services for the Milk Mustache campaign. ``When the Milk Mustache campaign launched eight years ago to reeducate the public about the health benefits of drinking milk, we knew we had something special, but never anticipated the campaign would thrive for so many years and become a celebrated piece of pop culture.''

All proceeds from ``Milk Mustache Mania'' will go to the Milk Processor Education Program to help continue spreading the word about the health benefits of drinking milk. The popular campaign is also featured on the www.whymilk.com Web site, where more than 1 million teens log on each year to check out the newest ads and submit suggestions for the next milk mustache celebrities.

The National ``got milk?''® Milk Mustache Campaign is jointly funded by America's milk processors and dairy farmers: the National Fluid Milk Processor Promotion Board in Washington, D.C., and Dairy Management Inc., Rosemont, Illinois. The goal of the multi-faceted campaign is to educate consumers on the benefits of milk and to raise milk consumption. A series of educational brochures is available by visiting the milk Web site at www.whymilk.com. Bozell New York is the creative agency for The National ``got milk?''®Milk Mustache Campaign.

The tagline ``got milk?''® was created for the California Milk Processor Board by Goodby Silverstein & Partners and is licensed by the national milk processor and dairy producer groups.

Britain's Prince William passes motorbike test
Source: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20020423/wl_india_nm/india_70044_1

Tue Apr 23, 7:49 AM ET

LONDON (Reuters) - It looks like a right royal nightmare for his father but the ultimate romantic fantasy for a host of teenage girls -- Britain's heart-throb Prince William has passed his motorbike test.

Buckingham Palace confirmed on Tuesday that William, who has even caught the eye of American pop princess Britney Spears, had passed his full test a few months ago.

But officials had bad news for maidens hoping to ride pillion into the sunset with the dashing 19-year-old student prince -- he cannot ride really big bikes until he is 21.

"He passed his test a few months ago, and can now go about without his 'L' (Learner) plates on," a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said. "But he will only be allowed to ride bikes of limited power."

She declined to comment on reports that William's father, heir to the throne Prince Charles, was worried his son, who will be 20 in June, might be yearning for a monster motor.

"Once you've qualified, you've been trained in bike safety and should drive with all due care and attention," the spokeswoman said.

The prince, currently studying history of art at St Andrews University in Scotland, joins a small group of British royals with a taste for motorbikes.

The Duke of Gloucester and his son both have modern bikes, as does Queen Elizabeth's nephew Viscount Linley.

Brandy Says She Would 'Die Without' Husband And Brother
Source: http://launch.yahoo.com/read/news.asp?contentID=208631

(4/23/02, 12 p.m. ET)

-- Brandy's Full Moon includes a remake of P.M. Dawn's "I'd Die Without You," which reached Number One on Billboard's Hot 100 Airplay chart in 1992. Brandy considers her version, "Die Without You," to be one of the most meaningful songs on her album.

Brandy recently explained the song to LAUNCH. "It's very personal, the last song on the album 'Die Without You,' because it is produced by Robert, my husband, and it is a collaboration between (brother) Ray J and Brandy. It was an emotional moment for all three of us because I feel that way about my husband, and I feel that way about my brother. Ray J feels that way about me. I don't know if he feels that way about my husband. But my husband feels that way about me. So it was like a beautiful moment, and for all of us to be in the studio together--because Ray J has never liked any of the guys I've dealt with--and for all of us to be in the studio together, it was just a wonderful moment," she said.

Brandy's current single is the Mike City-produced "Full Moon."

P.M. Dawn's "I'd Die Without You" first appeared on the Boomerang soundtrack in 1992, and then on the group's 1993 album The Bliss Album. . .?

Brian McKnight Isn't Ready To Stir Up Controversy For Sales
Source: http://launch.yahoo.com/read/news.asp?contentID=208629

(4/23/02, 10 a.m. ET)

-- Singer-songwriter Brian McKnight hooked up with hip-hop mogul Jermaine Dupri for the recent remix of his latest single, "Tell Me What's It Gonna Be?", from his latest album, Superhero. The song is currently Number 91 on Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and the video is currently in rotation.

McKnight told LAUNCH that controversy does sell records, but that his life was rather simple and that he wasn't ready to stir up trouble just to increase sales. "If I had some controversy then it would be a different complete spin because I'm not really that interesting, because I'm good," he said. "I'm sorry, but whatever I do isn't really bad enough to really have people have a problem with it. I just make music, man, and I have a life that's just sort of ordinary, which may not be that interesting to some people. I'm not going to go out and do something bad just to get press. . .yet."

Dream Street parents sue
Source: http://www.canoe.ca/JamMusic/apr23_dreamstreet-ap.html

Tuesday, April 23, 2002

NEW YORK (AP) -- The parents of the members of Dream Street have filed a lawsuit against the teen boy band's creators, alleging that their children were exposed to booze, women and pornography.

The lawsuit, filed in state Supreme Court in Manhattan, alleges that Louis Baldonieri and Brian Lukow "have engaged in a wide range of conduct and activities that plainly threaten and impair the minors' well-being," according to an affidavit from band manager John Stuart.

Baldonieri and Lukow denied the charges, with Baldonieri saying the parents were the ones setting a bad example.

The adults were "teaching kids you can sign anything, then lie, cheat and defame people for your benefit," Baldonieri said. The lawsuit seeks back pay and the release of the singers from their current contract.

Baldonieri said the parents were trying to make a financial killing now that the five-member group has become popular.

In their lawsuit, made public Tuesday, the parents said they were trying to protect the youths. Stuart said in his affidavit that the executives encouraged the teens "to have sexual relations with teen-age girls" and offered them liquor.

Two of the teens received pornographic e-mails from a band investor, the court papers alleged. The mothers of the singers also claim that the executives called them "dumb housewives" in front of their sons.

Dream Street's singers are 15 to 17 years old. Their debut album contained the hit singles "It Happens Every Time" and "I Say Yeah."

Pursuing their Destiny: Trio will be back with CD in 2003, Michelle Williams tells The Sun
Source: http://www.canoe.ca/JamMusic/apr23_williams-sun.html

Tuesday, April 23, 2002

By JANE STEVENSON
Toronto Sun

If R&B female vocalists Destiny's Child are taking a break right now, what do they do when they're busy?

The trio -- who have sold 34 million records worldwide -- released a remix album in March, appeared on Celine Dion's TV special earlier this month and released their official autobiography, Soul Survivors, last week at a party in New York. Still to come is a long European tour, rescheduled from last fall in the wake of Sept. 11.

Michelle Williams, Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland had announced in December that they were going on hiatus as a group, but obviously that hasn't happened yet.

"We're like, 'We're on a break but we're everywhere still,' " Williams told The Toronto Sun in a Canadian newspaper exclusive interview. "But after we do this world tour, there will be a break. (For) Destiny's Child, there has to be a break."

DC fans shouldn't fret, though, because "there will be another album in 2003," Williams said.

'NO COMPETITION'

In the meantime, each will release a solo album.

First out of the gates is Williams, whose contemporary gospel collection, Heart To Yours, hit stores last week. Knowles and Rowland will release theirs in the fall and next spring, respectively.

"Kelly's going to do, like, an alternative (album)," the diminutive, pretty Williams said in a Toronto hotel room last week. "I know she wants to work with the producers of (the rock band) Incubus, and she loves the music of Sheryl Crow. It's going to be kind of cool.

"I think Beyonce is going to funky-soul."

Contrary to popular belief -- given the group's acrimonious splits with three previous band members -- Williams says the DC women aren't competitive.

"No. We're all doing different types of music, you know, so that made it easier so there would be no competition. We're all just supportive of each other's projects. And we do things that the public doesn't want to see, like they're shocked to see us so supportive of each other. I don't know why. What is up with that? I want to do some research on cattiness."

'OPENED UP DOORS'

Perhaps the highest profile solo project is Knowles' turn as Foxxy Cleopatra in the coming Austin Powers in Goldmember film, due July 26. Williams says she is psyched for her bandmate, who also will have a song on the movie's soundtrack.

"Kelly has had a chance to go to the set. I was recording my album, but I'm actually excited to go to the premiere. I want to sit there. I want to be the first to see it, just like everybody else."

Rowland also has done some acting on the now-defunct TV series The Hughleys, while Williams also has not ruled out taking up acting.

"I'd love to dibble and dabble, if that right script comes along, I would love to take it," she said. "(We're all) trying to do a little bit of everything. Acting, modelling, owning businesses."

Williams' week-old gospel collection is hardly traditional, with plenty of soul, R&B and pop influences.

"Artists like BeBe and CeCe Winans, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, they've kind of gone mainstream and they've opened up the doors for artists like me to come along and follow in their footsteps," she said.

Williams said gospel music was closest to her heart when it came time to decide on a solo project.

"I've been singing gospel music, being in a church, all my life," the native of Rockford, Ill., said. "I did my first real solo at the age of seven. And now that I have a chance, I chose to do what my first love is, which is gospel -- inspirational."
