Britney Spears says breaking up with boyfriend Justin Timberlake still 'hurts so much.' Despite talk of a reconiciliation recently it looks like the couple have split as Britney has told The Sun: 'I'm still hurting. It's a strange feeling getting used to being single again but I suppose I'll have to. The worst thing is everybody wanting to talk to me about it.'
Britney tells the newspaper she is not strong enough yet to get involved with anybody new. 'I haven't really dated anyone since Justin,' she says. 'I am the type of person who can't go from a serious relationship and then just start dating someone else straight away.'
Britney says the split came about because the couple both wanted different things. 'We are climbing two different mountains,' she said. In the interview Britney also confessed to fancying actor Hugh Grant. 'He is so cute!' she said.
Britney and Justin first met when they working as child stars on US TV's Mickey Mouse Club.
Meanwhile in related Britney news, the star had to cancel an arena performance in the US because the amount of energy required to carry out her enormous stage show caused a power failure. The princess of pop was just two songs into a show in Texas… when the power went. The arena reportedly was dark for several minutes before lights were restored.

LONDON (Reuters) - Broken-hearted pop princess Britney Spears, still hurting after her split from NSYNC ( news - web sites) star Justin Timberlake, has admitted a fondness for British actor Hugh Grant, a London newspaper reported Monday.
"I'm still hurting. It is a strange feeling getting used to being single again but I suppose I'll have to," the 20-year-old singer was quoted as saying by The Sun tabloid, before adding "Hugh Grant is so cute."
Squeaky-clean Spears describes herself in her latest single as "not a girl, not yet a woman," while the worldly 41-year Englishman hit headlines in a 1995 scandal involving a Los Angeles prostitute.
But the singer's admiration for Grant is apparently mutual. He was quoted recently as saying Spears was "special" and he would opt for a date with her over pop superstar Madonna ( news - web sites).
Spears told the paper she had not dated anyone since her five-year relationship with Timberlake ended in February.
"I am the type of person who can't go from a serious relationship and then just start dating someone else straight away," she said.
The duo blamed the rift on conflicting tour schedules, but media reports said Timberlake was unhappy about repeated marriage demands from the religious Britney.
By contrast, Hugh Grant has taken a more casual approach to relationships since his 2000 split with actress Liz Hurley ( news - web sites).
At the recent Cannes Film festival ( news - web sites) the floppy-haired heartthrob said he was keen on Sandra Bullock, his sexy co-star in "Two Weeks Notice," but that it was "just a sex thing."
Grant was arrested in 1995 by Los Angeles police after they found him engaged in a "lewd act" with a prostitute.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pop princess Britney Spears is moving full speed ahead with her movie career, signing a deal with NASCAR ( news - web sites) to star in a feature film set in the world of stock car racing, NASCAR officials said on Monday.
Writing and planning for the as yet untitled movie is still in its early stages but Spears is expected to play the fictional daughter of a successful NASCAR team owner who inspires a former driver to return to the sport.
Spears, who made a respectable screen acting debut in February in the girl road and friendship movie "Crossroads", has formed her own production company -- Britney Spears Productions -- to develop and produce the project.
There are currently no plans for the 20-year-old pop star, who is now on a U.S. concert tour, to sing in the new movie which is expected to go into production in early 2003.
NASCAR (National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing) is the second-highest rated sport on U.S. television with a 75-million-strong fan base, particularly in the southern United States. The movie will feature real NASCAR drivers, tracks and competition.
NASCAR officials said they were attracted to the project because of Spear's image as an all-American southern girl, with a strong sense of family.
Producer Ann Carli said the goal was to create a film that portrays the spirit of NASCAR. "It is not just about winning -- it's about family, perseverance and the belief that any dream is possible," Carli said.
Spears and her father are both said to be big NASCAR fans.
