A spokeswoman for Britney Spears has denied that the singer sought solace in alcohol after her split with Justin Timberlake.
Yesterday's News Of The World printed a story that Britney had sought solace in booze. 'We both went out and drank to block out our sadness but we stillloved eachother,' Britney told the newspaper. 'We both did the single thing and didn't like it,' said the star.
But now Britney's spokeswoman has denied that she said the comments.
Britney split with Justin back in March but refused to confirm the split rumours with reporters. Although when asked at a press conference for her film debut Crossroads whether she was in a serious relationship right now, Britney replied: 'I wouldn't say serious, no.'
Meanwhile Justin had been consoling himself since the break-up by frolicing in lapdancing bars with the other members of 'N Sync. The group were reported to have spent over £50,000 in a gambling spree in Las Vegas last month and Justin was rumoured to be dating dancer, Jenna Dewan.

Pop diva Pink has been extolling the virtues of Ecstasy, recommending that US president George W Bush try the illegal drug.
However, the 22-year-old singer, who also suggests that Ecstasy should be handed out in school lunchrooms, said the last time she took any drugs was during Thanksgiving in 1995.
"I just snapped out of it," she told Blender.com. "I realise you can do a lot more on drugs than you can do sober.
"You can be the biggest wallflower and then all of a sudden you can dance like a pro!"
Pink's latest single, 'Don't Let Me Get Me', entered the UK chart at number six yesterday.

Jennifer Lopez has been talking to Oprah Winfrey, and only Oprah Winfrey, about her new love Cris Judd.
She's also been speaking about her failed romance with P Diddy and how they just drifted apart despite the fact that she still loved him.
J-Lo told Oprah that she learnt from that relationship and that's why she doesn't talk about Cris:
"You know I'll only talk about this with you Oprah (laughs). I'm very quiet and secretive about that relationship because I learnt my lesson with the past relationship - when you really put it out there people kind of just watch every step and they sensationalise everything. I don't think in this life and in this world, we can ever say 'this is it', you know what I mean? You do what feels right at the time."
