Britney's Fan Excitement Turns to Anger

It was one of the most anticipated concerts to ever come to Lubbock. People were expecting to see Britney Spears at her best. But, all the fans got, was just a glimpse of the pop idol and a sorry apology.

"She doesn't care about all the flashy lights and all the booms and bangs. She just wanted to see her sing," says one mother. And so did everybody else.

Just minutes after Friday nights concert began, it was over. "There were little kids crying, they only got to watch her play two songs. My cousin was crying and she is 17," says one fan.

Thousands of fans were left confused and disappointed after they were told the Britney Spears concert was cancelled. A man came on stage with Britney and announced that they had lost power for the show and it would be unsafe to continue the concert. Fans say they are unhappy with the way Britney handled the situation.

"She laughed about it when she went off stage. She said 'don't boo' and then she just walked off, we thought it was a joke."

"She just gets out and says don't boo. She didn't even explain herself."

So without an explanation fans were left searching for answers. Some people said they thought a transformer blew out. Others say Britney's show may have been too elaborate for the arena.

"One of the boards, when it kept exploding it melted. It was very hot. One man said its happened before. So if it's happened before you would think they'd have a backup board to prevent all this."

NewsChannnel 11 contacted Kent Meredith, the manager of United Spirit Arena and he said a transformer blew out in the building and he is trying to figure out why it happened. Kent Meredith also said Britney's production manager made the decision to call the show off. No one ever talked it over with United Spirit Arena officials before it was called off.

On Monday we expect an announcement as to whether the concert will be rescheduled or if you'll get your money back. Until then, hold on to your ticket stubs.

Eminem Death Threat Hoax
Source: http://www.pollstar.com/news/viewnews.pl?NewsID=1891

From religious groups to gays and women's rights activities, Eminem has angered them all with his lyrics and blatant disregard. So when several U.K. news outlets reported that the rapper received death threats from supporters of Osama Bin Laden, well it didn't come as much of a surprise, especially considering his latest video, "Without Me."

The clip, which was allegedly cited as the offending final straw by the Al Qaeda, Eminem dresses up as a character called Bin Shady. The video shows Bin Shady dancing in a cave and closely resembles real footage of the actual Bin Laden.

The press claimed Eminem was taking the Al Qaeda death threats very seriously, even going so far as to hiring extra bodyguards and security, and consulting with counter-terrorism specialists.

However, all the claims have been declared bunk by Em's representatives. In a statement issued June 13, they said, "Contrary to a fallacy reported in a British tabloid newspaper, there have been no threats made against Eminem. Any earlier reports of such are untrue, irresponsible, and inflammatory."

There has been no word on who started the rumor.

Eminem's Anger Management tour heads out July 18 for a run around the States.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) _ A power failure ended a Britney Spears concert after two songs Friday night. Spears used pyrotechnic effects and explosions while performing "Oops...I Did It Again"' and "(You Drive Me) Crazy." Arena power and lighting worked after the failure, but Spears' stage shows require additional power. A member of Spears' management appeared on stage with the entertainer and told the crowd the concert was canceled because of safety concerns.

"I'm just so sorry," Spears told the crowd at a Texas Tech arena, before being met with boos. "Please don't boo," she said, then walked off the stage.

Spears' U.S. tour began May 24 in Las Vegas and ends July 22 in Dallas.

NEW YORK (AP) - Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears said bye, bye, bye to each other after three years together, but it wasn't easy. Less than six months later, Timberlake says he still can't say the words "break up."

"It hurts too bad to say it," the 'N Sync ( news - web sites) member told People magazine for its June 24 issue, in which he's named among "America's Top 50 Bachelors."

"You get to a point where you're crying yourself to sleep at night," he said. "I feel like I'm in the middle of a soap opera. I honestly know what it's like to have a broken heart now."

Timberlake, 21, says he's not ready to date again because he's focusing on his career; he's recording his first solo album at a studio in Virginia Beach, Va.

"I want to enjoy the simple things," he said. "I want to take three days off when I want to, not when it's on my calendar. I want to go run in the park with my sweats on because I can. That's where I am right now."

Also on the magazine's list of eligible men are Ben Affleck, George Clooney, Olympic skier Jonny Moseley, "Survivor: Africa" winner Ethan Zohn and Los Angeles Lakers guard Derek Fisher.
