Arista Records to Release Major Artists on DataPlay

Pink, Sarah McLachlan, Outkast, Usher, Adema and More To Be Available This Summer

BOULDER, Colo., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- DataPlay, Inc., developer of the new portable music format, announced today that it has finalized an agreement with BMG to make releases from some of the industry's top-selling artists available on pre-recorded DataPlay digital media. As a result of the deal, BMG's Arista Records will release albums from best-selling artists such as Pink, Sarah McLachlan, Outkast, Usher and Adema on DataPlay digital media.

DataPlay music players and digital media are scheduled for retail introduction this summer at which time consumers can expect to purchase pre-recorded music by some of their favorite Arista Records artists. Universal Music, EMI and Zomba Recording Corporation have also announced plans to make their best selling artists available on DataPlay.

"DataPlay is an innovative and secure way to expose our artists, their music and more to their fans in an affordable and highly portable fashion," said Jordan Katz, Sr. Vice President Sales of Arista Records. "Retail is looking for quality artists for this summer's launch and Arista is proud to be a key ingredient."

About the size of a quarter, DataPlay digital media are single-sided 250MB and double-sided 500MB micro-optical discs that support both user-recorded and secure pre-recorded content. One DataPlay digital media can hold over 11 hours of CD-quality music, hundreds of high-resolution photographs or dozens of games.

"DataPlay lets consumers enjoy their favorite Arista artists on a new universal format," said Pat Quigley, Chief Marketing Officer of DataPlay. "With the support of BMG and leading retailers, DataPlay will play a major role in how the music of America's favorite artists is listened to, recorded and purchased."

In addition to its content agreements with leading music labels, DataPlay has deals in place with device manufacturers Samsung, Toshiba, Evolution, Digisette, MPMan, iRiver and Pretec in addition to others.

The DataPlay solution includes three primary offerings: DataPlay digital media, DataPlay micro-optical engine and ContentKey(TM), a content distribution, marketing and e-commerce tool.

Celebrities Place Personal Bicycles Up For Bid In Auction To Benefit World T.E.A.M. Sports; Jim Benson, Peter Kiernan Ho

NEW YORK, May 14 /U.S. Newswire/ -- World T.E.A.M (The Exceptional Athlete Matters) Sports today auctioned bicycles from some of the most notable names in sports, journalism, entertainment and public service at their Sixth Annual Celebrity Bike Auction. The event was held at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. Proceeds from the auction will benefit World T.E.A.M. Sports' "Face of America 2002" bicycle ride -- a three-day, two-night, 270-mile journey from New York City to Washington, D.C. to honor the lives of those killed on September 11 and to inspire hope as the nation moves forward.

Actor and advocate Christopher Reeve, Sens. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and John Kerry (D-Mass.), music producer and rap artist Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond, Firefighter's from Engine 33, Ladder 9 and record-setting swimmer and sports reporter Diana Nyad attended the event.

World T.E.A.M. Sports Co-Chairs Jim Benson and Peter Kiernan, the organization's founder and founding director respectively, were honored for their vision and leadership of the organization. World T.E.A.M. Sports also honored the five firefighters from Engine 33, Ladder 9 who biked across the United States to thank the country on behalf of their fellow firefighters killed on September 11.

Celebrities and notables whose bicycles were auctioned included Christopher Reeve, Robin Williams, Yoko Ono, Tom Brokaw, Paul Newman, Britney Spears, Paula Zahn, Cal Ripken, Greg LeMond, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, The Honorable Rudolph Giuliani, NYC Firefighters Engine 33, Ladder 9 Team, Evander Holyfield, David Halberstam, Nelly, Wynton Marsalis and Campbell Brown.
