Atomic Kitten will team up with Phil Collins and Canadian rocker Bryan Adams at the Queen's Golden Jubilee concerts at Buckingham Palace in June. The girls asked Collins to team up for a version of one of his songs and were chuffed when he agreed. Kitten Jenny Frost told The Sun newspaper: 'I can't believe it. I won't be able to stand up without going all gooey. I'm a huge fan of Phil's. I know that sounds sad but I couldn't believe it when he agreed to work with us.'

The Kittens are also hoping to perform a version of Bryan Adams' Everything I Do on stage with the Canadian rocker.

Source: http://launch.yahoo.com/read/news.asp?contentID=208501

(4/12/02, 5 p.m. ET)

-- Superstar rapper Nelly will release "Hot In Herre"--the first single from his upcoming sophomore album, Nellyville--to radio on April 16. Nellyville, which is due June 25, features appearances by *NSYNC singer Justin Timberlake, Trina, the St. Lunatics, and Jacob, as well as production by Basement Beats and the Neptunes.

Nelly told LAUNCH that he was going to stick to the same formula for his latest effort. "Producer wise, you know, I pretty much stayed with my same fam--Basement Beats, you know, I don't want to change the sound of my whole album. I ain't one for having a lot of guest appearances on my album because I like to go and I like to do whole songs," he said. "If I want to do my whole album, I should be able to get on stage and do my whole album, and not be able not to do something because somebody ain't here."

'N Sync with the future: Boy band expects to bash out rock 'n' roll in coming years

Can you picture 'N Sync as a rock band? The guys can.

Asked where 'N Sync will be in 20 years, Chris Kirkpatrick mused that the members of the biggest boy band in the land just might be in the garage.

``I think the good thing about us is that we all play instruments so we can, eventually, when we stop dancing, become a band,'' said the eldest member of the group, who is joined in slick pop harmony by Justin Timberlake, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass and JC Chasez. ``Maybe we'll be a garage band that just tours around theaters.''

Before the Orlando, Fla.-based quintet says bye, bye, bye to the teen idol life of multiplatinum hit records and fancy footwork to start bashing out its version of ``Louie, Louie'' in climate controlled carports, however, it has the pressing business of a tour to attend to. The group plays the FleetCenter on Monday and Tuesday as part of the second leg of a tour for its quintuple platinum third album, ``Celebrity.'' And they got on the phone with several reporters to talk about their plans.

The group's spectacle- and pyrotechnic-filled ``Pop Odyssey'' stadium tour, including two shows in Foxboro, was the second highest grossing of 2001, right behind U2. Not surprisingly, there was a mandate for a second round of shows. But not just for monetary gain, of course.

``It was real important that we go out on tour again,'' said Kirkpatrick, ``because we were three-fourths of the way through the stadium show before the album was even released. So this is basically a good musical enhancement of the album now, where people have had time to sleep with the album and then come in and say `I know these songs now, I'm ready for the 'N Sync show' rather than `I can't wait to go to the show to hear what the new stuff is.' ''

Chasez said the two parts of the tour differ greatly in terms of song selection and staging. ``There's none of those illusions in this show,'' said Chasez of previous set pieces such as conveyor belts, mechanical bulls and Velcro walls. ``It's just the band and us - no dancers - and it's a very raw show, and there's something special in every song because we've actually gone out of our way to do different things to the music to change it up.''

The show also includes a Beatles and Temptations medley, which Chasez calls ``a tribute to our heroes that we've looked up to and learned from.''

One thing the group claims it has learned from bands like the Beatles and Aerosmith is the need to take musical risks and avoid formulas.

``There's no formula,'' said Chasez. ``We just do what we do, and if we like it, we hope that everybody else does. It's funny how people think `Oh, you've had success, you know exactly what to do.' We don't. We just do what we do. I think that's what any artist does.''

Other qualities the group has adopted from its elders include humility and humor. Back in January, when 'N Sync bested U2 for Favorite Band on the American Music Awards, some in the crowd booed the group as it took the stage. Timberlake cracked - quite good-naturedly under the circumstances - ``Quit booing, U2 will get the Grammys.''

Kirkpatrick loved his bandmate's tongue-in-cheek remark, but has nothing but praise for U2, who, he said, has ``paid their dues. We're still paying our dues, we know that. We've been out for six, seven years, which in this business is a lot but it's not U2, it's not Aerosmith, it's not the big groups that deserve what they get. We're happy with where we are, we're happy with what we're doing, but we wouldn't ever put ourselves in front of those groups.''

They do hope to become one of those groups someday. Whether or not that happens, and until it's time for the boys to head into the garage, they're content with their place in the world.

Says Kirkpatrick, ``We're five guys that are best friends having a great time with what we're doing, trying not to step on anybody else's toes but trying to change the face of music.''

'N Sync plays the FleetCenter on Monday and Tuesday. The first show is sold out. Tickets for the second show are $38.50-$110.00. Call 617-931-2000.

Cupid's Spears?
Source: http://www.grammy.com/features/riffs_0409.html

After weeks of denials, Britney Spears hinted that she and boyfriend Justin Timberlake may indeed be on the outs. The conflicting reports has led Congress to suggest that a full investigation may be in order to sort out the facts. "A hearing could answer this important question once and for all," said Henry Hyde (R-Ill.), chairman of the House International Relations Committee. "The American people want clear answers and they ought to get them. I don't know which committee this hearing belongs in, but one on relations makes sense to me, and many of my constituents follow the lives of these young people very closely and spend a lot of money on broadband connections so they can download their music for free, so I'm determined to get to the bottom of this."
