When approaching a topic such as World War One (or the Great War) one must consider all of the possible questions one can ask. One such question could be ‘Was World War One inevitable?’ Because the Great War is such a diverse and intricate topic, it is extremely difficult to describe in the utmost detail on how the events of the World War One era actually unfolded, or what ultimately lead to war. But one thing is for certain, people believe in one of two things; they either postulate that the Great War could have been completely avoided, or that the war was wholly inevasible and that it couldn’t have been stopped. Both sides have liable arguments. Those who believe that the war was stoppable do so, because they trust the war-prevention ideas. They assumed that if people just followed the laws correctly than the war would never have occurred. On the flip side, you have the people who prophesied that the war was inevitable. They think that with all of the bottle-up tension that had been occurring for centuries over in Europe, that the war was bound to happen sooner or later, and that it couldn’t have been prevented. History has awarded an answer to the question of whether or not the Great War was inevitable, and the answer is yes.

The tension in Europe was building, and so was nationalism. This culprit can be blamed partly for the inevitability of the Great War because it blatantly placed the idea that one's country is better than another. Don't get me wrong; nationalism can be great for a country, but only in moderation. With the Triple Alliance, and the Triple Entente you get triple the nationalistic pride and trouble, and instead of two countries simultaneously duking it out, you have six; six extremely nationalistic countries, one continent. Of course these six countries didn't see a full out world war in the future, they only thought that what they were doing was right. If one of their 'friends' were getting picked on, they would back them up. So what was thought to be a sure fire plan proved to be a seriously detrimental situation for the whole of Europe. These alliances derived from a very sticky situation; Russia vs. Austria-Hungary. There was a time where Germany was aligned with both Russia and Austria-Hungary, this cause some discomfort between the two Slavic countries. The Russians wanted to protect and give the Slavic-speaking people in Austria-Hungary their freedom. They wanted to be responsible for them, and take care of them; they wanted to liberate them. But as luck would have it, the German ruler (Wilhelm II) decided that since he was the newly appointed Kaiser of Germany, he would decide not to renew the three-year contract with Russia, he thought that Germany didn’t need Russia and would be weakened by the countries lack of resources, and weak military. Thus this leaves Russia looking for a new friend. Now France is feeling a little hurt nationalistically and Germany is the wrongdoer. The two provinces of Alsace-Lorraine were annexed to Germany as a result of France’s defeat in the Franco-Prussian war (1870-1871), and the French were ready for their revenge, they wanted that territory back, and they were willing to do anything to get it. While France was scheming to get their territory back, Russia was still scouring Europe for a friend to align itself with. Thus, the French-Russian alliance was born, and Europe was one step closer to war. It took some convincing on the part of Russia and France to get Britain to join and fight on their side, but it was done, and the Triple Entente was about to take-off. But you can’t have a Triple anything if you have only two members, so Germany and Austria-Hungary decide to recruit another country

Yesterday by the actions of a Serbian student, our fellow Serbs in Bosnia are one step closer to achieving their well deserved political freedom from the Austrian empire. What was to be a routine inspection of the manoeuvring of the Austrian troops stationed in our proud city turned into a decision that the Austrian government will live to regret. The Serbian student turned hero, Gavrilo Princip, was part of the freedom fighting organization ‘The Black Hand’, who upon hearing of the Archduke’s visit, began planning their attack. Their plan was to be executed in a series of stages. Each of the members had a specific post they were to attack from if their chance arose.

Well now, this may not seem like a tremendously big deal to anyone out there, but I don't have to work tommorow.. I am so happy. I get to sleep in. Yey. I should rent some movies tonight... Hmm...
Things I need to do this (long) weekend...
1. Clean my fucking room. This is a neverending task. I clean my room one day, the next it looks as messy as before I cleaned it the first time. Great. Maybe I should pack some of my stuff up. It's too cluttered.
2. Finish Art, and CALM module one and two. Bah, I've been putting this off for way too long. I guess I need to get a good start on it. I have the lineart done for my art, I just need to make my inkwashes, and apply them.
3. Play Final Fantasy VIII, I need to finish this before the Summer, I plan on playing Suikoden 3 then.. XD I wonder how long I've been playing FF8? On and off for about 6 or 7 months?? Oh well, I'm in Lunitic Pandora right now. I'm trying to get energy crystals to make pulse ammo so I can upgrade Squalls weapon to the Lionheart. XD XD *love love Squall*
4. Draw. I really need to get a start on my manga. I have the first page done roughly, but yeah. I've totally changed the storyline. The other just wasn't working for me. Maybe I can use that one for a co-written story thinger. Yep.
5. Make a new CD. Robbie Williams here I come... XD I need good workout music.

I say that I need to do these things now, but I know I'll just end up sitting in front of the computer for the whole weekend...

Bah, boys really suck. Recently (i.e. Yesterday) I noticed something while I was walking by mysteriouso, he looked over. We both did the same thing, I looked over and quickly looked away and noticed that he did the same... Another time, right before exams, I didn't have German class becasue it was a 30 level course and he had a spare, we locked eyes for quite a long time... Then he looked away. And almost everyday after Social I lock eyes with him in the hallway... Blah.
I'm probably looking into this WAY too much, because lets face it, he was probably just looking at the clock or something... or just looking at people that he past in the hallway. Because why would.. Meh.
This is all I seem to write about. Blub.

On another note, Naru, where have you gone??? T_T I'm going to e-mail you when I get home... I can't right now, because I'm at school... and stuff. If your even reading this. At all. People are such mean jerks, especially on the internet.
