Tuesday, January 20, 2004

So I had classes today... boo! But it looks to be a busy-but-not-terrible semester. Hmm. I should call my parents about money etc. However, I don't feel like it, money is depressing and if I actually get my act together and apply for this research oppurtunity I'm gonna need money to live here over the summer. Because for 8 weeks I'm going to be researching pretty much full time during the week, and that means no job. Of course the stipend I will recieve the next semester is tempting enough to make up for the extremely poor summer I will have if I am lucky enough to recieve this oppurtunity...

But I can't count my chickens before I even finish the application...

anywho other than that it's back to the grind as per usual, School, work, and varied attempts to accomplish something beyond either.

Again, I'm doing alright. I'm having a bad day today, but tommorow will be better.

pic?

Yeah!!!! I have webspace!!! so I can put pics online!!!! Oh yeah, I'm back at school, trying to amuse myself, playing Kingdom Hearts (I'm at the end of the world, almost...), and looking into this research oppurtunity I was offered over break. I'm attempting to work on my novel, read, and, of course, yoga as often as possible.

Also today I put something together today without injuring myself! Woo hoo!

I'm doing alright...but well, yeah. Anyway time to go do the yoga I speak of.

I'm pretty bored...but no school for like another week and a half....what am I going to do with myself?

(Shrug!)

I think I'm going to try and enjoy it because soon enough I'll be studying my brains out and wishing for a little bit of peace.

Kingdom Hearts!!! ()=D

So...one final left. It still sounds pretty scary, but I think I'll be all right. and if not, then I'm done. I get to go home this afternoon. annnnnnnddddddd..... SEE RETURN OF THE KING TOMMOROW!!!!!

()=D

So freakin' excited! I simply cannot wait! My plan is to after arriving home, unpack, eat, go pick up the tickets and find out when the theater will start letting people get in line for seats. Then after that we'll see how I feel. I was up till 2 a.m. studying for this final today and I'm been pretty sleep deprived all week, so maybe I'll go see some people before I crash or maybe I'll just crash, we'll have to see how I'm feeling later....

Will our hero pass her final??? Will she be able to stay awake long enough to socialize???? Is this the end????

Yep. It's the end of a really long semster.

Two exams down, two very scary ones to go. I may not have my next final until Thursday but I still have to study today even though I am feeling the increasing urge to be very very lazy. Along with that I'm becoming overwhlemingly excited about going to see Return of the King on Saturday. So far it looks like Me, Sarah, Ashley and Kevin are going. All and all it should be a fantastic time. All I have left to figure out is who else is coming, and when we should go get in line for seats at the theater. I don't think we need to be the first ones there but we need 6 seats together so still we'll have to get there early... anyway can't think too much about it now or I will simply get too revved up. My roommate is going to the midnight show tonight and I must tell her not to tell me ANYTHING. I don't want to know I just want to see it for myself.

Alright, now I'm going to be completly lazy until I have to go to work for four hours.

Ok well, so far my weekend has been pretty cool, Thursday, I relaxed, Friday, I worked for two hours then had a breakfast/lunch, went christmas shopping with Adam, studied just a bit then watched Pirates of the Caribbean and the Fifth Element with Adam and Deb and Kris. Yesterday we got about 6 inches of Snow here in Columbia, and after watching it fall for a bit after I woke up, I got a call just as I was about to hop in the shower before work that---NO WORK!

too much snow, without plowing equals a day off for me. So I studied and got all my productive work done, then went for an evening walk in the snow with Adam, I made a snow angel on the quad and in the Brady fountain, which of course was empty except for the snow. Then I went to Walmart with Adam and some of his friends from his floor and bought 'ready to bake' cookies, while they bought gloves for the scheduled snowball fight at 9pm. I participated in the fight as well, but mostly I threw snowballs at Adam, why? cus it was fun! Then me and Adam went to my apartment to watch Elijah Wood host SNL, which was ok, mostly it was just funny to see Elijah Wood sing. ()= )

Oooo plus they were showing new trailers for the Return of the King movie yesterday which got me all revved up to see it on the 20th! so excited! but I still have 4 exams to get through before then and it will remain my light at the end of the tunnel, motivating me to kick exam ass, and study as much as I should.

Which reminds me I should go do some of that studying, I have my first final tommorow and I already have plans for this evening so I should get cracking.

WOO HOO!

No more classes for the rest of the semester! (Jumps around happily) only 4 ...more...finals... wait, I should have saved the jumping for later... oh well. Still at least I don't have to get up for class, or read, or write any more papers until next year. () = D

Friday, December 5, 2003

ahh Friday the happiest day of the week. Well this week has been mostly a struggle between me having to do my work and wanting to do my work. I've gotten almost everything I wanted to get done so far and yet so much left to do. I can't wait until this semester is over.

So lets see Tuesday I worked and had an EMU meeting about the final decisions on E.P.I.C. and worked on an overly angry Women's Studies essay topic. Oh and I depseratly wanted to buy Pirates of the Carribean, but no such luck yet. Wednesday Again work, WST paper, practiced my speech for Shakespeare, I got to do a solilioquy from Twelfth Night, and I didn't bomb it on Thursday! woo hoo! hmm I also got to spend some time with Adam, which is always nice. oh Wednesday was our 27 month anniversary, but we are going to celebrate this weekend.

Yesterday I felt generally unwilling to do my work, but I did pausing only to watch a TV special on The Return of the King, with lots of nifty behind the scenes stuff. Adam was nice enough to watch it with me, but he didn't watch the movie scene that they included at the end.

So now it's Friday and I'm glad, only four more days of school and four exams then home, and Return of the King. Which reminds me, anyone who's interested in going on the 20th, email me or IM me of blog your reply and do it soon because Me and Sarah are going to need a head count soon to buy the tickets, actually I'll be buying the tickets but we're orchestrating it together so contact one of us to express your interest in going and what time you're available on Saturday the 20th.

Alright I think that's all for now. I have to go to work, but only for 2 hours(dances about merrily) usually the schedule me for about 4-5 hours on my free friday, so that means I get to go to walmart and buy some food! My car broke down on the way back to school and is still malfunctioning so I haven't been able to use it and have been surviving only on what food I had left before Thanksgiving break. So yeah I've been hungry.

Sunday, November 30, 2003

So, I'm back. and I got a lot done over the break. Not everything but most of the stuff I needed done, and OH MY GOODNESS, I had some fun and relaxed too! (Falls down from shock!)

Anywho I had a great lunch with Sarah and Kevin on Saturday, we ate grilled cheese and chicken noodle soup and watched MU trounce ISU. Also I spent some time with Joyce and Sarah the night before, and went to see the very sad hockey game on Saturday night. Oh and I also got to bother Sarah on Wednesday to watch Finding Nemo and Office Space. Hmmm I saw Adam a bit, poor boy he was so tired this break.

Last Sunday I got to meet my cousin's fiance at my Grandfather's birthday party, he's 94 but the party overall was kind of morbid because my grandfather talked about his will, and my grandmother was in the hospital (she has congestive heart failure and she was having trouble breathing, my Uncle Steve, who's a doctor, said the fluid could be coming from one of her internal organs but they didn't get the tests done because even if that were true my grandmother wouldn't get the surgery to get it fixed.) But there was also a baby born in the family. My cousin Alan and his wife had a baby boy, named John. Such a cutie! Thanksgiving was great, it was nice to see my family including my brother, who has officially moved out now.

I also got almost all my Christmas shopping done. Woo Hoo! oh and there was much sleeping and tv-watching done over break. It was great...now I only wish I had about another week of it....

Friday, November 21, 2003

Ok well, This week has mostly been a blur, but I did have a fabulous time at Shakespeare's yesterday, and I really got to know all of my classmates a lot better, which was a whole lot of fun. The best part was .... No work! I had absolutly no homework to do yesterday and it creeped me out. And later this afternoon I get to run away home!

():) Woo hoo!

okay now breakfast with Adam, Work, lunch, then pack and close up the house. I'll be back in a week at the beginning of December!

Monday, November 17, 2003

Goodness gracious it's been a long time since I've updated. Obviously I'm not dead. Yea! I got better, but it took longer than I would have liked. I worked my bum off last week and now I'm trying to slow things down for Thanksgiving break. I still have so much to do before the year is over, which of course my teachers constantly remind me of. Also I've started looking for the perfect gifts for one and all for Christmas, which is not an easy feat for me, since I always want the person to love as well as use whatever it is I get them.

Ok I'm going to try and highlight what's happened to me in the last week or so, assuming that I went to my classes and worked and did homework too: Well I was properly sick over the weekend of the 7th though I did go see Matrix revolutions on Friday and had some fun feverishly delicious dicussion about the ending, Last week, I researched and wrote a paper for Com 104 about same sex marraige and how it should be allowed in our country if we were goign to stick to our democratic prinicples as a country. Ashley, it may please you to know I used that article you showed me over the summer from Time magazine as part of my support materials. I went to an E.P.I.C. editors meeting on Tuesday where I did my best to help the group decide on which stories to cut or keep, having not read all of them myself(there were about 40 ranging from 4 pages single spaced to 34 pages and beyond). I had a Com 104 test and kicked ass. Over the weekend I took Adam to see his movie: Master and Commander: the Far side of the world. It was suprisingly a lot better than I had expected. Saturday I did lots of homework and then crashed, Last night I had dinner with Deb and watched the hockey game with Adam.

That's really about all it. Oh! I had my creative writing workshop, and success! My story actually made people think. But didn't get as good of a grade on it as my last story. Oh well.

Coming up on Thursday I get to go to Shakespeare's for Creative Writing class which should be a blast, and of course there's Thanksgiving Break to look forward to.

Ok now I have to go read some fabulous Shakespeare (merchant of Venice) and then go to work.

Frances' brain died at 2:51 p.m.

Thursday, November 6, 2003

And I'm dying, ok not literally dying, but I am sick, pretty darn sick and I can't really be sick right now, lots of work to do and no break coming up. We all know Thanksgiving break isn't much of a break because teachers use it as an excuse to give you lots of homework because you'll have more free time when really you need to sleep. Sorry ranting, I just really wish I wasn't sick. I don't like it, it's stinky, I'm crabby, all around it equals no fun.

I wish you could postpone sickness like a doctor's appointment, if you could I'd schedule myself to be sick sometime in early January, when I'm home from school, and the weather encourages time spent in bed. Anyway, what got me sick, or at least made it worse, was the fact that Tuesday I had to walk home in the cold pouring rain. Now that seems like a stupid thing to do, and it is, but that morning when I went to class it was 70 degrees and cloudy but not raining, so I didn't wear a jacket to class because it wasn't cold and didn't bring an umbrella because it wasn't raining. Well I was in class from 9:30 til 2, then work from 2 to 5, and by that time it was 40 degrees and pouring rain, soo, bascially I just got soaked walking home, and now I'm sick.

Hmm I also bought and watched Finding Nemo on tuesday night after I dried off, and earlier that day I turned in my short story, which turned out okay, but I'm still not looking forward to the workshop. and basically I've been working and going to class and taking lots of cold medicine to function. Now I'm goign to go take a shower and see if that helps me feel a bit better.

WOO HOO!!! I finished my creative writing story, the non-editied version of course, but still cause to celebrate. Now I have 2 days to edit and revise. Oooo and it's just a little bit more that 12 pages, which is excellent considering I still have to edit. Anyway, now I have to go yoga and get dressed, we're going out to dinner tonight for Deb's birthday. Olive Garden, yum!

Monday, October 27, 2003

Alright, so it's Monday, commonly known as the saddest day of the week, and I'm exhasted. Why? Well I didn't sleep much last week with midterms and all, and I went home this weekend intending to rest and I did (when the clocks changed over I think I slept something like 12-13 hours after the wedding reception) but it didn't really help.

The weekend sums up like this: When I got back Friday night I went out with mum, we ate dinner, shopped and talked, good fun had by all. Then Saturday, the big wedding day was cold and rainy. The ceremony was beautiful, it was nice to see my whole family. I even got to see my brother, who has dropped 50 pounds in the past couple of months ( I suspect he hasn't been eating because he doesn't have any more muscle tone, just less chub), and who has finally moved out of the house.

Anywho, after the wedding, we had family pictures, then we went home and hung out for a bit. Then Adam came over and we went to the reception. By this point I'm really really tired for some reason, so I'm not really up for reception fun, but we go. The food was okay, cake was excellent ( I got the biggest piece) then the music is to lively for me to dance with my dad or Adam :(. I also got to introduce Adam to all the rest of my family who hadn't met him yet. It wasn't bad, just a bit awkward. Then Sunday I slept in and packed up my car, I went down to SLU to visit Ms. Sarah, which was a blast. I got to see her and Stephanie's apartment, along with Stephanie herself! :) We hung out and talked for a while then I drove Sarah around in my new car. Then I had to go back to school so I went by Adam's house and he followed me all the way home. Sweet boy.

Now I'm relaxing after a yoga workout, and considering calling Adam about dinner.

Friday, October 24, 2003

Well I'm going home soon, I'm gonna catch a quick yoga workout and throw my homework together but then I'm out of here. I hope MU kicks bum this Saturday in our homecoming football game, and that everything will go off smashingly. Anyway I did finally get my liscense plates for my car on Monday, and I've been studying very hard all week and I think my midterms went pretty well. Hopefully I'll get a chance to work on my short story this weekend cus it's due a week from the upcoming tuesday and I only have a couple of handwritten pages... Also a chance to rest would also be very beneficial, I'm tired.

Ok then, time to get stretchy!

Monday, October 20, 2003

Grrr...stupid pitas broke, but I did recover my last entry so it;s all good.

So, I've been doing that whole school thing, and this week I have another two very fun midterms coming up Tuesday and Thursday which I must study loads for and I also must keep working hard on my next creative writing story, even though a nap sounds very good. (MUST NOT SLACK!)

Anyway, I saw Kevin the other day (Friday) in Brady before I got my hair cut which was cool but a bit awkward because they were leading a school tour in the area at that time and it felt like we were on display... "And over there you'll see two live college students.." It was nice to see him cus we haven't really seen each other in a while, and I heard (from his away message) that he gave blood for the first time last week for the Homecoming blood drive, very cool. I did get my hair trimmed after talking to Kevin before his class, and it looks pretty cute, if I must say so myself.

Will, a friend of mine from lovely Cramer hall, came into town this weekend, he moved back to finish his education in Chicago becuase of tuition costs here. So it was nice to see him as well.

Highlights of the weekend: Going to see Runaway Jury with my honey. Going for a walk and seeing a tiny itty bitty puppy at Rockbridge park as well as playing frisbee and being assualted by ladybugs, some of which I ended up taking home with me. Then a vicious money and property stealing game of Monopoloy, and finally sunday walks and snuggles again with the honey.

Not to exciting but it was nice. Right now I am impatiently waiting a package from the U.P.S. man which will allow me to hopefully go get my car liscensed today. (fingers crossed)Until then I will pace.....

Monday, October 13, 2003

Alright, so I haven't updated in while so, hmm what has happened in the last week or so...

Well last week I had two midterms, both of which included more writing than I thought they would, in both cases I think I did okay. Um, I had my creative writing workshop which was a bit awkward, because I couldn't talk for a whole fourty five minutes while people talked about my story, overall it went well. The comments were helpful as always but it's hard to take them seriously at first because at that moment that story is your baby, you've worked so hard on it and it's difficult to accept that it does still need some work. My teacher gave me a an excellent grade for the story though so that helped with the emotional chargedness of the class period.

hmmm, I've been working a lot. which isn't a bad thing, but it does make me tired, and very anti-homework. You know, most of the time after you get out of class you don't want to do your homework, and then add about 3 to four hours of work on to that and you just don't want to do anything when you get home. Oh well, that's life.

Ok this weekend, Friday night I went shopping with Deb. We tried to find me a dress for my cousins wedding which is in like two weeks, no luck. I wanted something that's NOT black and all the cute dresses were black...or poufy for homecoming. Anywho I ended up buying 3 pairs of shoes, 1 for work and the other two because they were hot! I also bought a halloween t-shirt and helped Deb look for costume pieces. Saturday, I actually slacked off for the first time in the whole semester, I'm paying for it now, but it was a good day, I hung out with Deb in the morning(the Buffy musical episode was on Tv, it was good but it was cut short in places...). Then I ran some errands, I'm still trying to get my car liscensed before I go home again and I have to request a bunch of forms from the DMV and stuff, so I had some letters to mail. Then Adam and I went to Quiznos for lunch, we saw Kevin in his car on the way there, he was driving, silliness. Lunch was good! Then went back to my house and had more food, Kris' relatives were in town and her mom made lots of food for them and us.

Then I went to the awesomest foot ball game I've ever seen! I was right next to some shirtless painted Nebraska fans and they were quite attractive, about halfway through the game after it was done raining they were just half red- wet shirtless guys. There was some awkwardness with Kris' mom trying to set up Kris with one of the Nebraska fan's with her ex- boyfriend, Tony, sitting right there. Back to the game, I was right behind one of the end zones and got to see many amazing touchdowns from only twelve rows back, thanks again for the ticket Kris! I also got to see a frantic camera man rip down an expensive camera from the goal post mintues before the game was over and Mizzou fans rushed the field. Kris, Tony, and I waited to go down to the field until after the goal posts were completely down. Adam rushed the field from Tiger Lair, and actually had a beer on Saturday, I'm so glad he had a good time tailgating ()= D ! Anyway we won 41 -24 and had a big pizza party at my house afterwards.

Sunday, not so exciting, had a reading marathon and I'm still not caught up yet...but I did get to see Adam for a bit which was nice. Well now it's Monday and I'm not feeling well, so I skipped my first class and must now have breakfast and start reading.

well I'm going to go eat, my tummy is grring at me.

Thursday, October 2, 2003

I now have my very own cute little car,but it's still in STL being inspected and should be here when I bring it here in a couple of weeks, I wish I had a picture but when I do I'll attempt to put it online. Anywho this week we got a new refrigirator, and I mean new new not just another old refrigirator that works, from our landlord. So it rocks except that it is taller than the last one so I have to use a step stool to get anything down.

Right now I'm putting off homework, I have to put together a Works Cited page for one paper and start a new one. I went to Creative Writing class today and just laughed my ass off. Everyone has done a retelling and today we talked about a retelling of Cleopatra, and one of Rupunzel. We just basically made fun of the nonsensical logic of fairy tales, and the ways in which they cause problems in the retellings. In fact, the quote of the day is,
"If the price actually climbed up Rupenzels hair in this story then the author would have had to somehow explain the amazing scalp strength of Rupunzel."

I also heard from my discussion leader that he thinks my story is very good, which means that it doesn't suck. ()=D Yea!

Friday, September 26, 2003

Alright folks I'm going home to buy a car! This whole lovely week I've been working on my creative writing story which is supposed to be 15 pages long and yet I have only ten, I've also been writing a research paper and trying to live! Oh and all week our refrigrator has been slowly deterorating, delicious fudge pops were melted and yummy left overs lost. But next week, we get a new fridge, yea! Well I'm hungry and have to pack up my computer now, so ta!

Sunday, September 21, 2003

Alright, so I'm pretty much decided on being lazy for the rest of today. I was supposed to go to a play tonight to see my Advisor get killed by his son. (The play is Hamlet and my advisor, Dr. Dawson, plays Polonius, and his son plays Hamlet) however it poured down rain and now we cannot go because it's playing at an outdoor theatre.

So instead I'm watching Fellowship of the Ring on TV and sitting around twiddling my thumbs. I could yoga or work on my creative writing story, a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, but I just feel like I deserve some laziness. Especially since this week will be very busy.

Let's see, hmmm I talked to Ashley yesterday, () = D Very exciting, I wish I had more fun stuff to tell her but I have had some exciting things happen this week. I got a job, my refund check was sent out, to my parents...so that should be here in a few days, and I'll be buying a car next weekend.

Mostly this weekend I've been doing homework, which sucks but whatever, I have to get it done eventually and if I left it all till today I wouldn't get to have any fun all day. I did get to go to Burger Madness at Boone, so yummy and filling dinner for only $3 plus whatever a soda costs. And since it was raining, me, Adam, and Deb got to walk single file under our umbrellas like ducklings, with less waddling.

Now that I'm done rambling, I'm going to go relax for a bit.

Saturday, September 13, 2003

Ok, I just finished all my homework for today, and this whole cloudy, dreary day does nothing for my self-motivation skills. When it's cool and cloudy and dark and quiet because everyone in Columbia is either at work or at the football game, I just want to sleep.

Let's see...Yesterday Deb and I went to the mall, and then to see Matchstick Men, which is a good movie over all, I just didn't like the ending that much. I spent the afternoon saying goodbye to Adam, he went home this weekend, and may be bringing back more info on my* car.
(* it is not my car yet and I have my fingers crossed that it may soon be mine.)

Pretty much, I filled out applications to get myself a job and did homework this week. I didn't get the kick ass job I interviewed for on Monday. I'm pretty sure it's because I couldn't be here over Christmas break.

Seriously though, my family and most of my friends will be in STL this December (especially Miss Ashley who's abroad in Japan right now) and I'm not going to miss out on seeing them and spending time with them just for a job. Plus, unless I were to get that car I have my fingers crossed for, it would be improbable besides.

So, right now I'm kind of bummed and tired. My financial aid money still hasn't come, and I talked to them on Friday about why I haven't gotten the money when the letter from my lender says it was dispersed on the 28th of August.

Apparently it's got to go through some other system, some middle man and it may still be a few more weeks. Which is causing me to freak out, because in another few weeks I'll have to pay rent and all my other bills but will have no money to pay them.

I mean, I could always use my savings, but if I get the car there won't be much left of that anyways. Also, it’s my freaking' money for the semester and I should have it by now. (grr, sorry about that rant.)

Hopefully things'll straighten out. At least I have Conan O'Brien's 10th anniversary special to look forward to tomorrow.

Monday, September 8, 2003

Well, things are starting to settle down at the apartment. We have actual channels now ( before we had fuzzy NBC and nothing else ) which is good for the occasional session of brain cell killing.

I've been doing a lot of homework lately, mostly reading. and I'm not sure any of it sticks any more cus there's too much info up there right now.
Oh well, just gonna have to squish some more in cus I still have about two more years here before they'll let me out of here with a degree.

Let's see, what have I been up to lately besides homework....

Well I'm been looking for a job and interviewed for a kick ass one today (12-16 hours, $7 an hour, could do my homework a little bit). Only problem is I'd have to take a bus there and home cus it's too far to walk all the time, and I don't have a car (yet).

I also volunteered on Saturday night with Deb, Kris, Tony, Kevin, and Adam at the MS 150 Bike Tour which I spent most of my summer publicizing at my internship. It was pretty cool but they didn't really need us to work the snack stand we volunteered for. We did get to do a whole bunch of other stuff though. Only thing that sucked is I kept getting dirt in my sandals because I didn't think the floor of the dinner area would be a sea of dirt.

Oh well, stuff like that happens. So pretty much right now, my life is relatively uninteresting. Give it time, I just haven't gotten settled in yet....

Friday, August 29, 2003

Ok so I've decided I suck at this whole Htmling thing, cus I'm out of practice and short on time so here it is: My silly little blog which will only really interest those of you who know me.

So as for me, I started school this week and well let's just say I'm going to read so much this semester my head will explode. But what can you do?
As far as interesting things I 've done this week, I finally got hooked up to Broadband internet service and managed to get the whole router/network thing set up for the apartment so me and my roomates only have to pay for one hookup.
All it took was a few hours on hold with Microsoft and several thousand day dreams in which I happily threw the whole thing out the window.
Also my apartment was furnished with A/C, for free, and when it arrived me and my roomates had an interaction that went something like this:

Me: Did we ask for an A/C?
Deb: [Shrugs]
Kris: I don't know.
Me: [Shrug] Okay.

Not very interesting I'll admit, but its not everyday two men show up at your door with a free air-conditioner. Later it was revealed that Kris' mom had called R.E.M.I. for us, and that's why we got one. Having an apartment is a lot more complicated than I thought it might be, but it's worth it to have your own bedroom. Anyway that's it for now I've got to make some phone calls to try and get myself a job.

Hi, This is my first entry and as I'm just starting and have no internet access at my apartment yet this will have to do for now. More updates and fun stuff later.
