10:17 p.m. - Heartaches

Thankfully, not mine. It's actually one of my good friends who's suffering from heartache. And it's not romantic, mind you. It's just that her older sister's gotten married last Sunday and now she's all sad about it. It's coz she and her sister were very, very close so now, I dunno, I guess she feels that her life is somewhat incomplete with her sister gone.

I'm not of much help to her, though. She's asked me how I managed to cope with my sister going to China to work. Well, it's not really the same thing. See, my sister and I were never as close as she and her sister. Heck, I only just became close to my own sis BECAUSE she went abroad. Wierd, I know, but that's what happened to us.

*sigh* I feel so useless, you know. I can't really help it coz that's my personality. I've always had this nagging feeling that I'm one of those people who don't want to feel very much, so that I won't get very hurt later on. You know, those emotionally detached people. I know I'm probably not gonna have a very, well, emotinal life if I keep on being this way. But I can't help it. I guess I'll have to outgrow it or something.

Someone save me!!!

08:39 a.m. - Internet

Well, I've run out of Internet hours once more. I'm in a computer rental shop right now. *sigh* This sucks, you know. The keyboard is somewhat difficult to use coz the keys seem reluctant to be pressed. Plus, the mouse doesn't have that scroll thingy that I've gotten used to coz my mouse has that. Argh!

But anyway, just wanted to post something that suddenly came to me yesterday. Wanted to to it as soon as possible before the idea totally deserts me. I have a notoriously weak memory, see. So, here it is.

As you know, I'm a big fan of all those forensic shows like CSI and The New Detectives (I used to watch this in the Discovery Channel). Well, somewhere in those episodes, I came across the term "mitochondrial DNA". I'm not too sure about the particulars, but apparently, mitochondrial DNA is passed on whole from mother to daughter. So you'll know if a certain female is your relative on your mother side if you have the same mitochondrial DNA. But of course, you won't know exactly what your relationship with that female is. All you'll know for sure is that you share an ancestor somewhere in your mother side.

But why the hell am I explaining this to you? Well, I was thinking about the royal families and those rich families that have to make sure of the heir's identity. In this patriarchal society we live in, it's usually the males who are the heirs, right? But if you think of it in terms of mitochondrial DNA, then it would be much easier to ascertain an heir among the females of the family.

It's still a bit vague right now, even to me. But it's still something to think about, right? ^_^ Like my best friend said when I told her about this, "Who knows, you might have something there."

Hmmm..... I think some research is in order. Even if I don't actually change the way society runs, at least I've satisfied my own curiosity.

09:18 p.m. - Ugh...

I hate it when I get pimples. I don't often get them, you see. More often than not, it's around the time when I have my period or when the weather is particularly bad that they appear.

Anyways... that's all I wanted to say. Just felt like complaining to someone. Or something. ^^;

03:55 p.m. - Procter & Gamble

Something interesting happened today. I got a letter of rejection from Procter & Gamble. Hehehe. I know it would normally be nothing to laugh about. In fact, it would most probably be a cause to become depressed. But that rejection letter came about because I applied for the Summer Internship program and not for an actual, full-time job. Besides, I knew as early as March that I wasn't accepted because no one called me in to be interviewed. The letter came as a shock more because I didn't expect them to bother sending letters at all. The content of the letter was no surprise at all.

On the other hand, I think I got my dad's hopes up. ^^; He probably thought that Procter & Gamble sent the letter coz they wanted to hire me immediately after graduation. Yeah, right. As if. Even I'm not that delusional. I know my grades are far from P&G standards. And even if I do have top marks, I'm almost positive that my personality won't fit in that company. I dunno, I feel that they're looking for leaders, and I'm definitely do not have as much leadership instincts as other people. I'd much rather be the follower. ^_^

On to another topic, shall we. I bought this really lovely pair of earrings last Wednesday. They're made of some kind of metal, I dunno what. But they're definitely not silver or gold or anything coz it was really cheap. I bought it for 50pesos. That's less than a dollar. ^_^ Anyway, it's made up of a hoop, about 1 and a half inch in diamter, with a small heart dangling inside it. I wore it for the first time today and I have to say, it wasn't as heavy as I expected it to be. I guess I got used to it really quickly.

08:02 p.m. - Haloscan... Again

Well, I'm now tweaking the CSS template for the comment box of my haloscan account. As I'm not excatly brilliant when it comes to CSS and other stuff relating to layout stuff, I've been experimenting and changing colors by trial and error. Hehehe. Anyway, it's a bit of trouble but nothing really big. I'm almost done now anyway. ^_^

By the way, I've been re-reading my Harry Potter books. I've finished with the first three books and am now reading Goblet of Fire. I really hope that Book 6 will be releasedby next year. I'm running out of books to read. ^^;

09:27 p.m. - Haloscan

Yay!! Big thanks to whoever created the layout I'm going to use starting the month of June. She (or he) mentioned something about haloscan in a text file so I've already went there and signed up. ^_^ Therefore, the next incarnation of g.spot will feature a comment link for anyone who wants to leave a msg. I might just remove the tag board. Well, I'll think about it.

In the meantime.... wheee!!! Haloscan!!!

08:42 p.m. - Haloscan

You remember the new layout that I found, right? Anyways, the creator had this little text file that went with it and in that text file, she (or he, I'm not entirely sure) mentioned something about haloscan.com. I'm actually over there right now, checking it out. ^_^ Apparently, it offers you that comment thingy on your blog or website. Well, hopefully, I'll be able to integrate it with my blog on the next layout change.

08:36 p.m. - Waiting....

I've decided to wait till the end of the month before changing my blog layout. That way, I'd be able to keep better track of layout changes. I've also changed my image host from cybertarp to IMGspot.com. Anyone who's looking for a free image host that allows hotlinking should take a look at IMGspot. You don't even need to log-in or register or anything. You just upload your image and the url is given immediately to you. Of course, you'll have to take note of the url to the image coz the site doesn't allow you to view them again. On the other hand, if you forget the URL, you could always just pload it again to get a new URL. Problem solved. ^_^

Now then, my current plan is to change my layout at least every 2 months and at most, every 4 months. Even though I don't make my own layouts (coz I admit that I have absolutely no talent for it), it's still somewhat difficult to find one that suits my mood at the moment. I can be very picky. Hehehe. I've been looking for a layout with a bishie or bishies in it and that has a cheerful look to it. I've finally found one but, like I said, I'll put it up at the end of the month or on June 1. ^^;

07:14 p.m. - Troy

I have to say, I was disappointed by the movie. I was looking forward to seeing Orlando Bloom's acting again but it turns out that his character here was, for lack of a better word, 'bleah'. There was really nothing much he could do with his character Paris, who was a cowardly piece of sh*t. Oh all right, so he had some good points but Orly definitely didn't exercise good judgement by agreeing to be Paris. Throughout the movie, I was able to discern only two facial expressions that really stood out. One was the "scared shitless" look and the other was the "adorably bewildered" look. Watch the movie if you wanna know what these two expressions look like. ^_^

Brad Pitt was another story. He really aimed to please. Aside from the fact that he was playing a way more interesting character, Achilles, he also managed to expose a delightful amount of skin and body parts. This from a PG-13 movie. *waggles eyebrows* Hehehe. Not that I'm a lech or anything, but I know a good thing when I see one and I'm not afraid to say that I do appreciate the good things in life. ^___^

Now, Troy was saved from being a big disappointment by Eric Bana and his character, Hector. I went into that cinema not expecting anything at all from Eric Bana since there wasn't anything spectacular about him in the movie Hulk. Boy was I was pleasantly surprised by his portrayal of Trojan prince, Hector. There was so much depth and emotion in his eyes, and it was enough to make you forget that this is just a movie. *sigh* He's not as cute as Orly but he's definitely as buff as Brad. And I do like buff men. Not muscular men, mind you. There's a big difference between the two. Buff men have beautifully defined muscles without being bulky. Muscular men, on the other hand, bring to mind those heavy and bulky wrestlers I used to watch on TV. But hey, that's just me. ^^;

Let's move on to other topics now. I've just noticed that I didn't have a single entry for the month of April. Not a one. Which is pretty... lazy of me since there were 30 days in that month and I didn't even update my blog. *sdrop* But I am planning on changing my layout pretty soon. In fact, I'm looking for a suitable one right now. I'm thinking that I'll use a happier layout coz this one is just a tad bit too gothic and dark. Time for a change. ^_^ Wish me luck on finding a new layout!

08:04 p.m. - My Life as a Bum

National Elections

This is the first time I've been able to vote. And it's a national election to boot. ^_^ I voted for Lacson, even though I know that he's not going to win. Not with GMA and FPJ running as well. For those people fortunate enough not to know who these two people are... don't ask. Just rest assured that you're not missing much. Go on and live a happy life. ^^;

Of course, no election in the Philippines will be complete without the requisite mudslinging, rallies, vote-buying and cheating. Several candidates are already protesting that they've been cheated and that votes are not being counted properly. I don't wanna go into detail but it's definitely not pretty.

Speaking of not pretty, everyone who votes is required to have indelible ink smeared on his or her right forefinger. The ink is initially the color blue. But after a day, it turns into a sort of purplish color that will definitely remind you of a bruise. And then it becomes sort of reddish-brown, like rust. I was getting so annoyed coz my finger looked like it had been smashed with a hammer until I got the brilliant idea of buffing it away. Nyahahaha!!! Now the only evidence left of the damned indelible ink is the ink that managed to get under my nails. Nothing I can do about that but at least it's not as noticable anymore.

Dan Brown

EEEEEEEE!!!!!! This guy is definitely one of my favorite authors now. I've actually wanted to read his novel called The Da Vinci Code for a long time now but at the time, only hard-bound copies were available. They were too darn expensive so it was only very recently, when paperback copies are available, that I've been able to snag a copy.

Anyway, I really, really, REALLY love The Da Vinci Code. I was definitely not disappointed by my expectations that it would be a page-turner and that I'd be tempted many times to read the ending before I actually get there. I didn't give in to the temptation, though, and I was greatly rewarded for it. ^_^

I'm not gonna babble any more about the book coz I might unwittingly reveal stuff that could ruin the surprise for those who haven't read it yet. But I tell you, READ THIS BOOK. If you can't buy the book for whatever reason, then borrow it from someone. You won't regret it.

Oh, and before I forget, Dan Brown has 3 other books aside from The Da Vinci Code. The titles are Angels and Demons, Deception Point and Digital Fortress. I'm too lazy to tell you more about the other three so just go to Dan Brown's site to know more. ^_^ Three guesses as to what the URL is.

Van Helsing

OMG. Memorize these three words coz you're gonna find yourself saying, screaming and laughing them out all throughout this movie. This movie is an 'in-your-face' kind of movie and all that begins with the background music. The first time it blasts from the cinema speakers, you'll find yourself backing away instinctively. Hehehe. But you'll get to like it after a while. In fact, it's downright addictive, if you hear it long enough.

Hugh Jackman. Look up the word 'hunk' in the dictionary and you'll see his picture there. Oh all right, before you go searching frantically for that book you haven't used in years, I was kidding. =P He really is a hunk but I doubt Webster would really put his picture in there. On the other hand, it might just actually happen if enough people want it to. But looks aside, his acting was really good in the movie. And hough there wasn't that much elaboration about his past, his character was really interesting.

Kate Beckinsale was also very pretty in this movie. In fact, she was breathtakingly beautiful. Kudos to the make-up artists and the costume designers. I don't mean to say that she needs those stuff to be beautiful. What I mean to say is that they managed to enhance her beauty even more. Her character was awesome! Imagine being in a family of vampire-hunters. And not just any vampire, mind you. They're after THE vampire, Count Dracula.

All right, so here ends my ramblings for the moment. Tomorrow I'm gonna go watch Troy with my best friend. I just wish I won't get disappointed coz I've been waiting for this movie for a long time now. But with Irlando Bloom and Brad Pitt in there, I'm sure I'll at least get my money's worth. ^____^

10:46 a.m. - *yawns*

Gadz, I truly am bored to tears. I've been a bum since summer vacation began and if it weren't for my trip to China and Baguio, I'd be a baked corpse by now. I say baked becuase it's too damn hot in this country!! I swear, if I were to close all the doors and windows in our room, i could rent it out as a sauna room. I'm serious!

Anyways, to break the monotony of my summer vacation, I'm gonna go watch a movie with some friends on Monday. We haven't decided on the movie yet but at least I'll be able to get out of the house. Plus, the mall is air-conditioned so I won't have to roast myself in this heat while at home.

Oh, I almost forgot, I went to the beach with my high school friends last April 17-18. We swam in the late afternoon 'til night and we had a barbecue for dinner right at the beach. It was so much fun! I wanna do it again except that the price tag associated with it is giving me second and third thoughts. Lol.

On another note, some friends of mine at UP are planning this huge project concerning a group cosplay and short film of battle royale. It's gonna be an entry for this year's C3Con. I myself have vowed never to participate in a cosplay but I promised to help them via the filming itself. I'm more of a behind the scenes person anyway. ^_^

Speaking of an anicon, it's wierd that Questor didn't have their annual Anime Quest this April. I mean, if they did, I never heard even a whisper about it. Usually, it'll be advertised during the anime hour of GMA and even in AXN. Is it possible that onlt C3 will hold an anicon this year? I hope not. I think some research is in order....

08:32 p.m. - Going... going... gone

No, it's not an auction. It's just that I'll be leaving on March 31st for a trip to China. Shanghai, to be precise. Anyway, that obviously means that I won't be making entries until I get back. Not that anyone reads my entries but you get my drift. ^_^

I'll be back from China on April 5th. However, I'll be leaving again for Baguio on the 6th. And then I'll be back home again on the 10th. This trip to Baguio, however, is not a vacation. It's a summer conference that my church organizes every year. We go to Baguio for a few days to renew our faith and then come back to this mad, evil world to see if we'll remain steadfast in our relationship with God. Unfortunately, I can't say that I've been successful. I've been going to this conference for about... 4 years, i think, and I'm still not growing spiritually. I guess I'm much too preoccupied with the "world", material world, that is.

Maa... enough talk about faith and God. I guess I'll have a renewal this year and pray to Him that I'll be able to maintain it this time.

07:56 p.m. - It's over!

Nyahahaha!!! Finally, all my exams are over!! Wheee!!! Now I only need to finish my term paper and I'm free for the rest of the summer. Bwahahaha!!!

I know, I know, I sound like an idiot but I can't help it. I've ben slaving over these subjects all semester and I have to tell you, it feels darn good to finally be done with them. Frankly, I didn't learn much from my subjects this semester. For some unfortunate reson, I got stuck with a lot of idiotic teachers. Idiotic in the sense that they don't know how to teach. They seem intelligent enough, but they don't know how to share that knowledge with us in a way we can understand.

Anyway, we'll be going to China on the 31st and we'll get back on April 5th. The actual tour was only for 4 days but my parents decided to add an additional two days so we could go out with my sister. She works there, you see and hasn't been home all year. This is her third year working there. And she's only come back home twice, if I remember correctly. She was supposed to come home last Christmas, spend the holidays with us, but then our parents planned this summer trip. So she decided to save the money and not come home after all. She's not planning on renewing her contract, anyway. After this year, she's gonna come back and look for a local job. ^_^

Speaking of a job, I've given up on A and C. (Kindly refer to one of the previous entries for clarification.) A has already told me that they've filled up all available OJT positions and C hasn't called me up again for an interview. I guess I'll try my luck with S. S is an auditing firm as well. But damn, to think I gave up that generous allowance. *sigh* Oh well, I guess I'll just have to chalk it up to experience and move on.

07:15 p.m. - Archive

Well, I've just archived the previous entries coz the page was getting to be too long. I still haven't changed the layout because:

[1] I wanted to see how long I'd last on one layout wihtout getting bored, and

[2]I'm just plain lazy.

Hehehe. Well, you can't really blame me as I've only just finished with another final exam today. Thankfully, I only have one more to go, the accounting exam on Thursday. Oh and I still have to do the paper that's due on the 31st. Well, that's basically just analysis and summarization so I should be ok. A couple of days should do it.

Ok, gotta go now. For some reason, I feel compelled to look for, and read, as many Gundam Wing fanfiction as I can get my hands on. It's really weird, considering that I've never even seen Gundam Wing, except for a couple of episodes shown in Cartoon Network that's dubbed in English. And I'm telling you, it was bad. I know this even though I've never heard the actual Japanese voices of the Gundam Wing charcters. What can I say, I have my instincts.

Ja!
