Multiple Posts in One

*sheepish* Well, there were a lot of things I wanted to write for the past week but I was either too busy or lazy to do so. Therefore, I am now posting this entry which will include the topics I wasn't able to post before. Bear with me coz this is gonna be quite long.

Oprah

I was able to catch 2 episodes of Oprah that really got my attention.

The first one is about transgenders. Apparently, they are quite different from gays and lesbians. I'm not entirely sure, but to my understanding, gays and lebians are comfortable in their bodies. Though gays prefer men and lesbians prefer women, they do not reject their bodies. They accept the fact that they are anatomically male or female, but they are attracted to people of the same physical sex.

Transgenders, on the other hand, are quite different. They feel that they are in the WRONG BODIES. A man feels that she is actually a woman trapped in a male body while a woman feels that he is actually a man trapped in a female body. I guess you could say that they were packaged wrong. For some reason, female brains were encased in a male body and male brains encased in female bodies.

Transgenders are often mistaken as being gay or lesbian because they are attracted to people who are the same as them, physically, that is. However, if you will remember, their brains are the opposite as their bodies. A physically male transgender is attracted to men, becuase she is actually a woman mentally and emotionally.

Now, I can totally understand these concepts. Even though I am female in every sense of the word, I can appreciate the idea of being gay or lesbian or transgender. However, I am also a Christian. I believe that God created us perfectly. What we are is how He meant us to be. Which leads me to the question? How come there are transgenders? Does it mean that God really meant to put a female brain in a male body (or vise vers)? I have no answer to this (obviously) and I don't really want to think about it much since I'm not a deep thinker by nature. Still, I think it's worth contemplating, ne?

The second episode was about women who were raped in the American Air Force Academy. And get this, they were raped by upperclass CADETS or even COMMANDING OFFICERS.

Our first reaction would be to say "She should report this at once!! She should go to a hospital and have a rape kit done on her!!" However, if you watch the episode, you'll find out that this is difficult to do in that speific environment.

It's difficult to explain but in a nutshell, freshmen cadets are supposed to do anything their upperclassmen tell them to do. They are slaves in the air force system. Also, anyone who causes trouble or calls attention to him/herself is often punished and the whole squadron (I think) is punished with him/her. So you can imagine how a rape victim would be unwilling to report an incident.

I was just so outraged at this. Oh, sure the Philippine Air Force is probably just as bad, if not worse. But still, I expected better from "The Land of the Free". Also, when courageous women actually do come forward and report the incident, the system turns on them!! They become the accused! They are thouroughly investigated and small, petty infractions are penalized upon their record. They are also, more often than not, forced out of the academy.

ARGHH!!! I can't stand it! How can human beings do this to each other? And we dare to call animals "animals". At least they don't rape unwilling mates. At least they don't kill each other for fun. Those filthy creatures posing as human Air Force Academy cadets make my skin crawl.

Sickness and Death

Cheery topics I have for this entry, ne? Hehehe. Anyways, I mention this becuase a lot of people seem to be seriously sick or even dying these days. Or maybe it's just that the people around me are getting older, and thus, more prone to sickness and death. *shrug*

First off, my aunt who lives with us, has the flu. Her nose is running like crazy and she's had this fever for a couple of days now. On one hand, this is good news as she doesn't have the energy to rant and rave now. Hehehe. On the other hand, it's bad news for me coz we sleep in the same room. Oh well, I guess we really can't have it all.

Connected to that, she can no longer stay in my other aunt's house because of her flu. My other aunt is sick as well, you see. She just had surgery to remove a tumor in her breast a few weeks ago and now she's gonna have to undergo chemotherapy. Which also means that her immune system is pretty weak. It just so happens that my aunt who has the flu was the one who stayed with her after her surgery. She certainly can't take care of my other aunt now as her flu would probably infect my other aunt as well.

My mother also has this friend who also had breast cancer. She wasn't as fortunate as my aunt, though, coz she only found out about it when it was already in the 3rd stage. She had chemo after her surgery and she's been pretty much weak for the past year or so. Just a few days ago she was admitted to the hospital coz she wasn't eating. Apparently, half of her torso is numb coz the tumore had been putting pressure on the nerve there. She can't swallow very well and her food has to be osterized.

*sigh* All this sickness is really depressing.

Web Hosting

Well, I've been working on my new site. I've already mentioned this in a previous post, I think. It's gonna be a fic archive of my favorite fics only. It's not meant to be comprehensive. Hehehe. I've already found a good layout to use for it and I've basically finished all the pages.

There is one problem though. See, the layout uses this link thingy that requires a *.htc file. Geocities won't accept it so I can't use my geocities account. I tried Bravenet. Same thing. Netfirms accepts the file but also has this ugly big banner ad on top of the page. Ugh. Popups I can deal with but banners, no way.

So if anyone can suggest a good free webhost that has no banner ads, I'd really appreciate it. On the other hand, I'd appreciate it more if someone who already has a domain offers to host me. Lolz. Well, I can dream, can't I? ^_^

So there! That ends this VERY long entry.

Ahhh... It feels good to get those issues out of my head and chest. ^_^

Till next post!

Good News

Well, it seems that I'm taking adequate care of my teeth coz my dentist said I didn't have any cavities. Yay for me! Lolz. But my pearly whites did need a bit of rough handling to get it sparkling again. I dunno, maybe it has something to do with those sweets I'm so fond of. But anyways, she has this new fluoride flavor. Hehehe. It used to be bubble gum but now it's strawberry. It tastes a lot like strawberry yogurt, but of course you can't swallow the fluoride. I'm sure you won't die if you do but you'll probably get sick or something.

I've gotten started on my archive again. Hehehe. The Pig Pen didn't really get off the ground coz I had to go study (bleah!) so I'm renewing my efforts. ^_^ The new archive will also include fics from other anime series. But that'll come later. On the launch, it'll only have the old fics I had at The Pig Pen. I only hope the other authors will let me host their fics. ^_^

The Dentist

Well, I'm going to the dentist tomorrow. I have an appointment at 9:30 a.m. along with my little sister. It's been more than a year since I last went to the dentist. Hehehe. I just hope my teeth aren't in very bad condition yet.

Also, tomorrow is my cousin's birthday. He's turning 27. ^_^ He's gonna get married soon, too. His wedding date's on July 18, that's a Sunday. I'm not in the entourage though, so I dun have to wear a gow or anything. However, I have this sneaking suspicion that I would still have to wera a dress. I'll have to find a way to get around that one.

First Day

Well, today was my first day back in school. I had 3 classes for today, and surprisingly enough, all the professors were present. Granted, those previous professors that I had who were absent on the first day were subjects that are not in my college. I guess the professors in my college are more... I dunno, concientious(?) of their jobs.

Too bad, though, that tomorrow, I have to go to the 7:30 class just so I can have the professor sign the prerog form. I'll have to wait for about 5 hours before my next class begins. *sigh* I guess it can't be helped.

Incidentally, my 191 professor had us submit a piece of paper with our info on it. I wrote down my blog address. Hehehe. I'm pretty sure she's not going to visit my blog but in case she does... "Hello, Ma'am Alava!!!" ^_^

Birthday Wishes and Other Stuff

Today's my cousin's birthday! Happy Birthday, Mike! He's my cousin who's in Spain. ^_^ He's 31 now but he's still not married. Granted, 31 isn't really that old, since he's a guy.

Now then, tomorrow is the first day of classes. Ugh. Not only that, it's been raining continuously for the past few days. It's not reallt raining hard, but still, it's annoyingly wet! I mean, even with an umbrella, you still get a little bit wet, especially if you're commuting to and from school everyday. *sigh* I hate rain.

Pardon me, I'm gonna change the topic again. *sweatdrop* Anyways, last night we went to my aunt's and uncle's house. We were there till past midnight coz my mom was playing mahjong with them. We got home at about 1:30. I was like a walking zombie by then. I swear, I went through the motions of getting ready for bed like a robot. And then I fell asleep the moment my head hit the pillow. Hehehe. And I must say it felt really good to sleep after a long day.

But becuase of that, I wasn't able to go to church. I slept till 11 a.m., you see. Our church meetings are always at 9 a.m. *shrug* Oh well, I told my small group leader about it and I apologized. I also promised her that I'd definitely go next week. I've been trying to go to church regularly since the Summer Conference, although I'm still not having my daily devotion regularly. Oh well, one step at a time.

FInally!

Registration is over! I can finally rest my poor, tired feet. And tomorrow, I'm gonna watch Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with my best friend!!! Wheee!!! I can't wait.

Hmmm... nothing much to write about. Well, except maybe the fact that I'm gonna have to prerog my Econ class. I did manage to get into the morning section but that's at 7:30 in the morning! That means I would have to wake up at around 4:30 every Monday and Thursday just to get to school on time. I can't do that for one whole semester! I'll become a zombie!

Anyways, to solve that problem, I've decided to prerog in the after noon class. Prerog is short for "prerogative" meaning, it's up to the teacher if he/she is going to accept you into his/her class. I hope the teacher will accept me. Then I'll just have to cancel the morning class.

So here ends my endless ranting and complaining for the day. ^_^

Tired

*sigh* I am so tired right now. I want to type out every single ache I'm feeling but I'm too tired to do it. *sigh*

Well, registration has started once again. It actually started yesterday. The volume of work we did for today and yesterday were in complete ends of the spectrum! Yesterday, there were only a handful of registrants so we were basically sitting around doing nothing. Today however, I only got a few minutes of rest and I ended up standing all day long. (Not including our lunch break, of course.)

To make things worse, I was wearing this new pair of boots. I wore them coz it was raining. It's way easier to clean leather boots than Skechers sneakers. Plus, the boots were bought at a discount so it was pretty cheap. Anyway, the boots has these big heels. You know the ones that have an area equal to your actual heel. And now I totally sympathize with those salesladies at SM Department Store. Those things are NOT kind to your feet when you've been standing all day. Tomorrow I'll wear my other pair of leather shoes. They don't have heels.

This Sucks...

Well, I'm still seething over what happened to my CRS results. Apparently, my friends who aren't even registration assistants got into the Econ class I wanted. That really sucks!

ARRRGHHHH!!!!

This has got to be a mistake!!! I didn't get the Econ class I wanted!! But that's impossible! I'm a registration assistant!! I'm supposed to have priority!!!

AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

.....

.....

.....

*takes a deep breath* All right, I'm calm now. Well, to some extent.

But seriously, this sucks! The other Econ class is scheduled at 7:30 in the morning! I don't know how this could have happened. I don't know whether to complain or just stick it out. Ugh.

So what the heck am I supposed to do now? This has never happened to me ever since I became a registration assitant.

*sigh*

Blogging

I've just introduced my best friend to the idea of blogging. ^_^ She's a bit reluctant coz she says she doesn't exactly want to broadcast stuff about her life. Still, when I told her that there are a lot of anime layouts for blogs, she reconsidered. Hehehe. She's such an anime freak, just like me!

I've watched Hellsing, by the way. I dunno what I can say about it. It's certainly interesting enough. In fact, it's VERY interesting. I especially love Alucard's guns. I dunno, I seem to have this fascination with weapons. I like knives too, or basically anything that's shiny, sharp and pointy. ^^;

Anyway, I didn't really understand the story of Hellsing much, but I guess I like it. It doesn't hurt that I'm also fascinated with vampires. ^^

More FLs

*sheepish* Well, I've added more buttons down there, coz I've just joined several more FLs. I guess I'm overdoing it a bit. Hehehe.

You can't really blame me coz classes start on June 7th and I'll have to start going to school on June 1st coz I'm a registration assistant. As the title suggests, I have to assist the students during the registration period. It's somewhat tiring, but at least they feed us for it. ^_^ Plus, we get to have the schedule we want. Not bad for a few days of service per semester.

I just hope there won't be any trouble-makers during registration this semester.

Whee!!!

New layout, minna!! I knew I said that I'd be updating only at the end of the month. However, I've been on another FL joining spree, thus all those little buttons down there. *points to sidebar* Even though I'm totally pleased with the new look, it does load a bit more slowly than usual. But I guess it won't be a problem to those who have dsl or broadband internet.

Maa, enough complaining about slow connections. Don't you just love the color! Hehehe. ^_^ I am so pleased with this new layout. I especially like this box-like thingy that appears with each new entry. Thanks a lot to Wood-Elven Designs!

Hmm... seems I forgot to include my tag board. Anyway, I'll put that up next time. Ja ne!
