I have reached a new level of geekiness: I learned how to play the cello part of Pachabel's Kanon dur D on my bass guitar. Go me.

Hey, anybody out there who has seen Vanilla Sky? Great movie. Artsy Tom Cruise is an interesting Tom Cruise :P Unfortunately, the end and some of the characters remind me too much of the Dreamscape stuff in X...Like the Tech Support Guy(TM). He could easily be Kakyou. As a matter of fact, that's what I call him. Mister Kakyou. Anyhow, good movie. Some of the scenes are gorgeous in dialogue, actions, and/or background (like the pretty Monet skies). The soundtrack is great too (Radiohead, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, REM...).

Have reached the last volume of HunterxHunter. It's the beginning of a new story arc, one in which Killua and Gon go into the imfamous videogame Greed Island. It's okay, but when compared to the York Shin City auction/Genei Ryodan story arc, it's not as great. Plus there's a lot of things to do with casting spells with cards or making objects into cards and collecting, you guessed it, cards. With this series, it seems that the artist is trying to cover as many types of shounen series that he can. He already covered tournament/fighting manga and now he's going for the card-collecting manga. This story arc will draaaag too. It's already dragging. And there's nothing that the other characters in the series (read Leorio and Kurapika) can do, especially Kurapika, since some of the Ryodan have entered the game (and there's no sign of Kuroro coming back *sniff*). That means it will be Gon and Killua versus the Ryodan at some point. I'll still read HxH. I'm a shameless addict, after all.
....
And where the hell is Hisoka!?

My weekend wasn't half bad, sans the getting laif off part. Saturday, I saw Chicago with Cayman and Becca. The theatre was so packed that we had to sit in the front row. Despite being unable to fully appreciate the camera shots and having an obsure view of the screen, the movie was great :3 I liked the irony of some of the songs.

It was mine and Cayman's six month anniversary. He got me the Tokyo Babylon Photographs art book and six packs of strawberry-flavoured pocky (Seishirou and healthy wafer sticks covered with pink frosting- yu~umy). I bought him an LP of The Beatles Revolver (one of the reissued lps from around when the Beatles Anthologies were put together. An original Revolver records would have been nearly impossible to find) and today I cooked him dinner ((yes, I actually cooked something other than ramen noodles- roast, veggies, and mashed potatoes/gravy)). We had fun this weekend together ^_^

I bought the last volume of Wish. Haven't read it yet, but Cayman assured me that it was a happy ending- a rarity I think in most CLAMP series, sans the children series. I also bought a copy of Vertigo's Preview comic of their titles for 2003 (it was 99 cents). There is going to be a manga of Death. I have seen pictures. Manga Chibi!Morpheus is sooooo angsty and Delirium is adoreable! I'm gonna scan in some of the pictures later tonight along with some TB ones that need to be commented on- in all that it implies X3 I'm also looking forward to this series told from the point-of-view from a crazy girl who escaped from a mental institute (Shade, the Ever-changing man- it looks funny). Oh! And Endless Nights- new stories about the Endless written by Neil Gaiman, which will be available in graphic novel form in the fall. Vertigo- I love you.

La li la li. A ton of stuff to scan in.

Well, in a nutshell, I've been laid off. The official explanation (from my now ex-boss) is that his daughter was "permanently laid off" (whatever the hell that means) and he "needs to help her". So technically, I've been replaced by his daughter who is in her twenties and hasn't even bothered trying to go to college so she can get a better and perhaps more secure job. I'm feeling really pissy and really spiteful right now.

My mother said that she'd start giving me the old standard /week allowance till I find another job. Could I feel anymore worthless now? My boss could have at least fucking told me his intentions not to keep me hired when he put me on two weeks notice. That would have given me time to find a job instead of second-guessing if I was still hired or if I had "been canned". My mother told me during those two weeks to wait, then while I had my old job, try to find a new one that at least offers minimum wage. Ugh. I feel so depressed, so excuse me if I sound down for the next few days. I'm sure I won't (my boyfriend is up here, at least :) ), because I have things to keep my mind from dwelling (said boyfriend, the rest of HxH, anime, manga, supplies to draw and write and fuck with any current original characters and their already shitty existences...)

I believe you were correct when you said Hisoka's face is priceless when he finds out what happens to Kuroro. It was definitely priceless. *stiffles giggles*

Speaking of which Sumy-san's comic (Dooti and Evel- linked somewhere below) definitely makes more sense now that I know how Kuroro threoretically got there. I like how she draws Kuroro ^_^ Ah, hell, I like her artwork :P My art is okay, but it's not great for a comicbook or webcomic. My styles are great for character designs and big pretty pictures, maybe even two-page spreads. I still need to work on drawing action (I suck at putting my character into action >.<). Oohies...that reminds me...I have some pics to ink and/or scan in. I still haven't used that deviant art account I signed up for (or was it called deviart...?).

Hmmm...don't know if I can continue on reading HxH now that Kuroro is gone...He was one of my favourite characters. I want to know if Gon ever finds him dad, but it's doubtful that he has yet. Toriyama's World has scanlated up to Volume 14, and it seems the comic is still going. Then again, they are translating the French version ((I noticed on the cover of some they say "francaise")). In Japan, the comic could have wrapped up already. That's something for me to look into :P

More HunterxHunter last night. God. I love Kuroro/Quoll. He's a super-seme *_* Plus he's a different type of villain or general main-ish character from the what they've had thus far. Quiet, knowledgeable, doesn't seem to want to fight (big wow there, folks). He has an interesting character design too. There's something gothic about him (in appearance). Thinking back on as many character and designs by Y. Togashi, I can't recall a character that looked so gothic. Different characters are good character :Þ ((ack. bad generalization, je sais))

Edit: 4:26 PM: I'm up to Volume 11, Chapter 5 of HunterxHunter and it's a great chapter by far. I updated my opinion of Kuroro- He's fucking cool. Not in a badass way, though; he's too calm thus far to be badass. He's very Treize. His personality resembles Treize's- calm, intelligent, poetic, masterminds...Those types of villains are the best type of villains. If he dies before the end of HunterxHunter's run, I will be pissed.

Fox is an 18-year old voyeur. She's an anime/manga fan and draws in that style. She's a music fanatic, liking anything from classical to rock, with the exception of most rap, a lot of the country out there, and "nu-metal". She can appear to be anything from super-nice and talkative to Evil Emo Chick(TM). Her special helper is a Naked Chibi Treize with Wings who is as evil as she is, and her muse is the ever-underappreciated Bob the Virgin Incubus (who is gay).

Version Tragedy
From just reading two chapters of Ludwig II, I was hooked. This layout is a homage to that series. The picture was borrowed from scans found at Obsession, which is an excellent site for yaoi scans. The actual life of Ludwig II is a sad and fascinating one. He was the Mad King of Bavaria (aka the Dream King). When he was 41 years old, he committed suicide or he was murdered (nobody knows exactly what happened). His body was found floating in a lake. For a better, though condensed, version of Ludwig II's life, go here. Nee, isn't this a nice break from dark layouts?
