Someone got himself killed today. It started out by breaking tradition and hugging the drug addicts, embracing the prostitutes, having mamak sessions with the loan sharks in the area...

Later on it got larger and spread to local communities and everyone began to follow this man who dared to even call himself the king. When standing before the Prime Minister, he said that his power didn't come from the general election votes that happened every five years.

It soon got him in trouble though. His closest aides were having the usual meal of roti-canai and some sirap bandung when he said outloud that they were going to leave him or betray him because of the presssures. They all pledged allegiance but in a blink of an eye, his treasurer sold off information of his own leader's whereabouts to the nearest police squad.

Was anyone near him when the sirens got nearer and nearer? When the policemen came with their guns drawn, his followers all took off running. Cuffed, with a paper bag over his head... they led him to the court to be accused and spit at by the locals who didn't understand why this hippie was doing with their country. He didn't even have a lawyer to defend him in court.

The jury was bought over by prejudice. Their verdict and sentence:
G-U-I-L-T-Y... D-E-A-T-H

So they nailed him like a rat ready for a typical biology experiment. As blood flowed down his arms and legs, he gritted his teeth against the pain and the long heaves of breaths that he took became increasingly labourous. His heart screamed in agony as it struggled to pump the depleting volume of blood that was racing out of the wounds instead of circulating in the body.

As he breathed his last... He looked at the crowd of hatred and animosity and said...

"Father forgive them... for they know not what they do!!!"

His name is Jesus Christ. He's the Son of God and if He were to ever live in our times, I believe He would still go through the same treatment, the same pain, hurt, disappointment and eventually be put to death by His very own creations. Ironic that we would rather believe in the worse of life than to believe that there is a God out there that could really love, care and save.

Yes, today is Good Friday and He died today 2000 years ago. But the Good News is that Jesus didn't stay dead. He rose again on Sunday and that is the reason why we celebrate Easter this coming Sunday. NOTHING to do with the Easter bunny, thank you very much!

Just one thought... Shawn went to heaven on Friday too like Jesus. Guess they have ALOT in common then.

Happy Easter, Shawn. Make sure you give Jesus a great hug for all of us, will ya?
