Wahaha! I believe today was the nicest day of my summer holiday so far! ^.^ I went to Niagara Falls, and it was absolutely wonderful. Our first stop was a town called Niagara-on-the-Lake, filled with hundreds of little shops with expensive goodies. ^^; Ahh... so it isn't as fun trying to ignore the 'BUY ME!' signs, but with my empty pocket, I didn't have much choice!

Next stop was a Butterfly Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. I know that you may think, "What's so interesting about butterflies..." though the tour was very, very good. I spotted millions of tropical butterflies and plants from everywhere in the world, (China, Australia, etc.) and all of this in a huge greenhouse! Wow *^^* Hehe, it was quite funny when this unusually large (*cough* gigantic) butterfly landed on someone's... behind... people swarmed in and started taking photos immediately! XD Poor guy. He looked so uncomfortable! And the gardens were pretty too, with roses in full bloom. ;)

Then, of course, there was Niagara Falls. If anyone has ever been there, you can understand what an amazing natural wonder it is. And even better by night too (I had never been there at night before.) The lights illuminate the Falls so that they become a rainbow of colours, and because this is a holiday weekend, the streets were filled with tourists and festive music. And the United States is just right there on the other side. *waves to New York* My pleasant day couldn't be complete without a display of fireworks though! *sighs* I had no idea about the fireworks, but all of a sudden this big bang made me turn around from eating my spaghetti, and there was this sky full of colours! ^^ I bought this huge chunk of chocolate fudge too... nearly half of it is gone already. =_=; I'm forcing myself on a strict diet starting tomorrow!

I'm tired now though (the chocolate fudge has worn off now, I suppose XD) so I'm off to bed. And I need to archive too, I shall do that tomorrow~~!

*cheers* I won that auction on Ebay... well I was the only bidder! Hopefully the seller will not be annoyed by the e-mail I sent full of questions (I think I just take a few too many precautions. ^_~)

A nice day today! I went to a Bulgarian picnic, and the thing about such picnics is that there is always a lot of good food and a number of people who are willing to chat about various things. Hmm... and there was a nice looking guy too, but I'm getting carried away now! >:D The location was a very lovely Croatian park with a nice big swimming pool; I didn't go swimming but I dipped my feet, happy to feel much relief from the burning sun. Well, at times I was a little bored as there were few people my age (except for the nice looking guy, but he was playing soccer *ahem ahem*) so I took out my book and read a little. Unfortunately, the book was Interview with the Vampire and I do believe that some of the older people thought me a little morbid. ^^; At first they commented, "Oh, what a good, sweet girl! What book are you reading?" And I respond, "Interview with the Vampire. Interesting book indeed!" Their response: "-_-; Ah... interesting taste indeed..." It's a very good book though, ne! ^_^ [And for the record, I read books of all genres, I don't spend my days secluded in my room (or closet XD) reading novels of the supernatural!]

Adeline, glad to see you blogging again! I hope that school isn't to stressful! I'll try not to blog as much about my holidays, I feel a little guilty now. ^^; *shrinks* Ah, but in a month, I will be hauling my huge backpack around again, so it's best to enjoy vacation while it lasts. *^^*

Today, the weather is much more pleasant than yesterday. When I went to the grocery store yesterday, I nearly suffocated from the humidity. I believe it was 40 degrees with the humidex. o_O; I wish I never went to the store though... in the adjoining McDonald's, (which I was just passing by) this bad fight was taking place... they even broke one of the windows of the restaurant. It made me feel very angry... though I'm not quite sure why... maybe because they didn't even have the decency to go outside if they really felt they needed to fight... or more so because I remember some of those boys from before high school, when everyone was young and little and innocent! Oh well, that's life, ne? ^_~

I don't think I got the job at the Greek place. ;_; I think the manager would have contacted me by now, and she probably wanted someone for a more permanent stay (not a summer job, as I requested.) Well, that's okay... I'll be busy with my tennis lessons, which start this Tuesday, car washes and a garage sale for volunteering. ^_^ (And let me not forget that I must also include a few more "fun" events before school begins... ^^;;)

Flipper, your drawings are so adorable! *^^* You're so talented! I have trouble drawing even STICK people, so that just shows how talented I am! =P

I've been spending the day studying for my G1 (learner's permit for driving.) I'm putting myself to sleep trying to memorize the demerit point system, and the millions of signs that you encounter on the road. ^^; But, it's one of my goals this summer to go and get my G1, and pass the test, so it's back to the study book! Hmm... and I feel like baking today too. I used to bake a lot a couple of years ago, with my grandma. If I could find that strawberry cheesecake recipe... *yum yum*

I just finished taking this interesting little Place Wizard at Concierge.com. My ideal destination (according to the wizard) is The Riviera, in France. Ahh, I agree, it looks so lovely in the pictures. Though the prices of things there is another story... I would like to go someday (maybe I'll have enough money when I'm 70 and retired XD) ~floats away~

Wednesday, August 1, 2001 -- 11:32 a.m.
Bah... I'm a little irritated today, but without any solid reason. ~_~ I fell asleep at 8 pm last night, and I think that I got a bit too much sleep! (How is that a bad thing, I don't know!) With all the errands my crazy parents are making me do, studying French, and reading, I don't feel like I'm really on a vacation anymore! Wai! It's already August... school is just around the corner. -_-; And we couldn't get tickets to the Rogers AT&T Open here in Toronto, so I must stick to watching my tennis on TV. ;_; Many people have moved their blogs too, I'll change the links soon, I promise! ^.^ (Right now, I'm just too irritated to do anything at all...)

Monday, July 30, 2001 -- 03:25 p.m.
Too many errands to do, but so little time. ^^; I bid for a Vampire Yui manga volume on Ebay... hopefully mother doesn't mind that I might have to use her credit card if I win... o_O; I slept in today and got carried away with Ebay; thus I've run out of time to do all these errands I promised my parents I would do. -_-; Well, I shall post later! Nice layout, by the way, Joey! ^_^

Friday, July 27, 2001 -- 09:57 p.m.
Wai! I might be getting a job soon at "Jimmy the Greek" (no amusing remarks, please, hehe XD). I was getting my lunch there in the food court at the mall, and the manager asked if I would be interested in a summer job there... so let's hope she likes my resume! *crosses fingers* Even though working at minimum wage isn't much, it's still something to add to my piggy bank (ahem, it's actually in the shape of a clock ^^;) especially if I choose to go on a school trip abroad! *thinks* And getting some discounts on Greek food won't be such a bad thing either! ^^

I cleaned up my computer again, this time I organized my bookmarks into all these folders and such... I have about a million folders now, but it still looks rather organized (for now). The only problem was, I must have accidently deleted some file and my ICQ wouldn't work... I panicked at first, but then re-installed Windows, and now it's a-okay. Phew. Hmm... changed the desktop as well. *points below* I think the wallpaper looks funky. Me likes!

Ahh... the alien-like flowers ^^;

Friday, July 27, 2001 -- 01:31 p.m.
I've busied myself this past week with many various things, which explains the lack of blogging. Not to mention that free Internet with its ads can become highly annoying! >.>; Anyways, every year (unless I am overseas), I make a schedule near the end of July to follow through in August, in order to be well-prepared for school. I do hope that this year, I may actually follow it! When to buy back-to-school supplies, clothes, get learner's permit, etc... My friend says that I should just relax the entire summer, including August, but my pitiful self always becomes very paranoid before the start of a new school year. ;_; She's leaving for a vacation in England this weekend though, lucky, lucky, lucky... ~_~

Gem-chan, I finished Anna Karenina a little while ago, and I do recommend it! It presents a lot of interesting ideas and the characterization is really good. You learn of how important "society" was in that time period in Russia. *nods* Indeed, it is very long... I found it a bit tedious to read through, but otherwise it's very good. ^_^ If you don't already have bad eyesight, perhaps reading through this may damage it. XD

Ah, new layouts are around! Flipper-san, I love the blue (as it is my favourite colour ^^) and the layout for Spirit is amazing with that technoish theme! *_* Phil too, with his amazing XHTML skills has a new layout! ^.^ And here I am, still trying to figure out these tables layouts. :/

I don't have to worry anymore about using too many hours of my limited Internet access; merci beaucoup to free Internet access (with the exception of those awful ads, of course ^^;) Today I'm in a happy mood, sometimes those little things that occur through the day just make you feel 'genki' even though they are little. Oi... I don't know if anyone understood that?

I was dragged out of bed this morning by my father, which at first made me a teensy bit annoyed. >.<; Then I found out that my aunt was on the phone, calling from Bulgaria, so I splashed cold water on my face in order to be conscious while I talked to her. ^_^ Aww, I miss them all so very much in Bulgaria! Apparently, my cousin, who lives in Spain at the moment, is getting married in October! I'm so happy for her. ^_^ *hugs family*

The second thing that put me in a good mood, despite being dragged out of bed, was playing with my very old NES (amazing it works, ne? ^^) I beat Super Mario Bros. 1, which I had always wanted to do, but never could before. *cheers* I know, I know... it's not very difficult at all, but I'm not a great gamer. Not at all. ;_;

Right now, I'm trying to plan a little agenda for August, in order to be a *little* more productive then than I have been this month. Hopefully, I'll gather some motivation to work on my web pages too! And study for my driver's licence? And review French and German? Perhaps some forgotten mathematics? *head spins* And how many pages long shall this agenda turn out to be, I wonder? '_'

Friday, July 20, 2001 -- 02:43 p.m.
It's not very much fun at all having such limited Internet access. Only half an hour a day is torture. ;_; I don't want to go outside either as it feels like a sauna today! ^^; Uh oh, as I speak, the time is a-ticking, so I'll keep it short!

Charlene, I received that same e-mail that you did. Afraid to open it as it looks very suspicious. I wish I understood Spanish, or whatever language it was in ... Yay, Joey, things seem to be going well with the service desk guy ^^ ... Gemangel, thanks for the compliment *^^* ... and finally, Selene, wonderful layout, the colours are so pretty! *_* Now, off I pitifully go; I've been online for 31 minutes already. *sweatdrop*

Wednesday, July 18, 2001 -- 05:29 p.m.
I've almost overused my limited Internet access (100 hours ^^;) for this month, so I can't go online for more than half an hour a day until August. ;_; Other than that, I saw the movie Legally Blonde yesterday; it was actually fun and quite refreshing. ^_^ Reese Witherspoon had an unlimited supply of perkiness in that movie. XD Today, I went to the library and picked up those "learn a language on tape" in Spanish and Japanese... after all, if I can't go on the Internet, I have to occupy myself with something else, ne? ;}

Aww, Yukino, thanks so very much for the compliments on my layout. ^_^ I wish I knew who the bishounen in it was too! Does anybody know?

Sunday, July 15, 2001 -- 09:44 p.m.
Hello again! I'm back after a busy weekend. I went, with my family, to Kingston (about 3 hours away), where there are very nice short cruises and there was a carnival going on too. I don't want to bore you with the details of my little trip, but you won't mind a few, will you?

I think the most exciting thing was going on the cruise ship... not that the sights were very interesting (it was mostly just vast amounts of water ^^;) but it was fun being with other tourists not just from Canada, but all over the world. There was a very friendly group of students from Korea, several from Germany (I didn't practice my bad German on them, thank goodness), many Americans, and even another Bulgarian family like us, except that they live in Bulgaria. ^.^ Whoo, that's certainly a long way too. What I really enjoyed was the various chatter around me in all those different & interesting languages!

I then watched some of the carnival festivities in the streets... in short, a bunch of young people doing crazy, but otherwise funny things, and eating lots of ice cream. *ahem* I also took a look around Queen's University, which almost resembled a group of small castles. I guess the architecture comes from the fact that it was established in 1841? ^_^

I'm glad to be at home though... unfortunately, I brought back a big, red sunburn on my face. Forgot the sunscreen *smacks herself in the head* Now, I just have to check my e-mail and lie down a little. My poor feet need a rest from the endless walking...

One more thing: Flipper, I'm glad we got the chance to chat a little. Good luck going back to school tomorrow. *smiles*

This morning the winners of the Olympic bid for 2008 were annouced! Toronto had also placed a bid, but Beijing won. Congratulations, Beijing! For some reason, I wasn't very caught up in the bidding although I live in Toronto, but I think a lot of people in the city had really expected to win. Apparently, there was a parade organized too. Now to be a non-victory parade though. o_O

I finished Anna Karenina. The book is very detailed, but otherwise I liked it a lot. Now, I have to read Jane Eyre because it is my grandma's favourite book and she wants me to read it too!

Flipper-san, your layouts for your weblog are always pleasing to the eye! I agree as well that designing layouts is best when you do it with passion, or with a little 'creative burst' of energy. ^_^

Wai, Joey, I feel a little bad for you! It seems your cousin is not making your life very enjoyable. ;_; Thankfully, when my cousin visits our house, he's so quiet that he almost goes unnoticed. ^^;

Ah, this morning I feel that all my worries have disappeared (for now!). I can't believe I'm up this early either. Very unusual for the summer holidays. ^^; I stayed up for a good part of the night, reading my book (I always get carried away when reading *bad bad*) but at around 5:30, I looked out the window, and saw a little bit of the sunrise... the clouds were pink and blue like cotton candy, so it was a very pleasant sight. ^.^

Oh dear, I forgot to mention that I got the courses I chose for the next school year on a 'finalized' sheet of paper. Changes can still be made, and I'm debating that at the moment. All my courses are very hard and at the University preparation level, but at least I decided not to kill myself with an overdose of science... I didn't take physics, (*insert shameful look here*) but I am taking bio and chemistry! Some of my friends almost scolded me, with, "You can't get anywhere without physics..." Oi >.< No one said I planned to major in science anytime in the future! *stomps foot*

On a side note: What a contrast there is between the end of my first paragraph and the end of my second one! ^^;;

I feel so sad now. ;_; It's just because my holiday so far has been very boring. I'm sort of in that 'make the most of life' attitude today. That sort of feeling where you want to escape for a little while and surround yourself with new things. So I checked some travel sites, but it's too late or too expensive to book anything. My parents will probably not be able to take time off for a vacation, so we might not even go to Quebec or P.E. Island. ~_~ All I want is to have a little more excitement in my vacation, but things aren't looking too good. Hopefully, I'll wake up tomorrow in happier spirits. Sorry to all the visitors of this log for this depressing post. ^^;

Wednesday, July 11, 2001 -- 03:34 p.m.
New layout again! I didn't like the last one very much, so here we are back to pastel again. -_-; I don't know who the guy is in the picture, I had the image on my hard drive for a long time on the computer so I can't remember the series it's from. I fixed a few of the links on the links page and updated the about page too. Anyways, if there are any errors in the layout, please let me know!

There was another thunderstorm yesterday, yet it wasn't cloudy at all and the sun was shining. That resulted in a big, beautiful rainbow. *^^* So pretty!! My aunt also visited us yesterday and brought me a souvenir from her trip to Quebec City, a little native Indian in a purse. Hehe, it looked kind of odd at first, but it's actually rather cute.

I finally finished cleaning out my computer. It took a long time, but at least I got rid of over 100 MB of MP3s, videos, and Word documents from the past school year. ^.^ Now I have more space to once again download a whole bunch of MP3s, etc... @.@ And the cycle continues~~!
