// B for Busy. // Tuesday, January 8, 2008
I know I should have already put up the entry for Sharleez's first birthday party but I have not. Sharleez has just recovered from her fever. We are still very exhausted. The aftermath of the party, it must be. Plus, I am very busy with school. I cannot even find the time to upload the pictures, what more do a proper update and a so called reflection of the party.
So later, okay?
Meanwhile, thank you to everyone who attended and made Sharleez's party a success.

// Sharleez celebrates (Part I) // Thursday, January 3, 2008
So we did have a mini celebration with our little birthday girl. It's pretty obvious from the picture that Sharleez was in a state of bewilderment. She did not know how to react to our claps and the singing of the birthday song. She did not want to move an inch when we tried to get her to blow the candle. In short, Sharleez did not exactly take pleasure in her birthday celebration. She did not know how to. It was like a totally new feel. This is quite worrisome. I honestly wonder how she will be like on Sunday.
Oh well, at least she likes the Pooh card Mama Ili made for her. She likes Pooh alright but her love for Barney is deeper. For now, that is!
Happy 1st Birthday once again, my dearest princess.

Sorry that Mummy and Daddy have to work on your birthday. :( Bummer. Bummer. Bummer. We will have a little celebration tonight, okay? You will try to blow the candle, we will try to finish up the cake. ('.')
And of course, we will have the whole of Sunday to celebrate it with you.
LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

// First Class. // Monday, December 31, 2007
I spent the earlier part of today in school. I cleaned up and sort of did up my new work space. I also did up my class. The theme this time round? Neighbourhood! Since I am taking Pri 1 Joy, I named it 'Joy Town'. I am truly besotted when it comes to the decoration of my class and anything else. I enjoy doing it. I really enjoy it. I do not enjoy maintaining it though, especially towards the entrance of the second semester. Then, you will see missing pieces, falling pieces and tattered pieces. Then, I will not be bothered to do anything much about the intentional or unintentional damage and destruction. Then, I will just leave my class as it is.
Anyway, back to my classroom decor, not classroom damage. I still cannot believe how gung ho I was, what with the newly painted classroom walls and all. Tell me, how can one not be excited over newly painted walls?! I created a welcome sign saying 'Welcome to Joy Town' and placed it at the entrance of my class. I created directional signs with values and class rules that are expected of them. I created borders made up of different vehicles. I created a typical panorama of a busy town at the back of the classroom.
In short I created this.
This.

This.

And this.
And we are only talking about my class decor now. You cannot imagine how crazy I am already about decorating the party venue for Sharleez's Belated 1st next Sunday! Lol.
Thank you dearest hubby for never failing to help me do up my classroom every single year! Thank god we both share that similar interest! ('_')
And oh kiddos, one more day to enjoy the last bit of your December break, so make good use of it. I am going to make good use of it too; by spending the whole day with Sharleez and my family. I trust I couldn't have thought of anything better than that.
3 more days, and you are one baby!

// Cutest Santarina? // Wednesday, December 26, 2007
Remember this picture?
I do not mean to brag, but I think it is only apt that I do a follow-up on the 'Cutest Santarina' contest that I participated in. Well, I clinched the 2nd prize! Not too bad at all for a first timer, you think? The prize was a makeover voucher worth over $300 at Cover Looks Studio. Oh yeah, let's not forget the Skippy hamper that we received too! Don't they know that I cannot eat peanuts yet? Oh well. We had our studio shots taken earlier today, and boy was I tetchy! The photographer called me Chareez. His assistant called me Sharleesh. Now reiterate to me the reason(s) for my tetchiness. I think the photographers and everyone else should really learn to pronounce and oh, spell names. Up till now I still have people spelling my name as 'Shahleez'. Tsk. And Mummy, school is starting soon. You will be meeting your new primary one kiddos next week. You should also start pronouncing your pupils' names at home!
Oh 2007, please pause for another month or so. I want my mummy at home with me for a bit longer! :(
Love, Sharleez
Yes, it's SHARLEEZ.

// The inviting game. // Thursday, December 13, 2007
Ooh, so exciting. My dad collected Sharleez's birthday invitation cards earlier today. I personally think they are really, really cute. And now that the birthday invites are in, so is the headache.
No matter how small an affair I hope Sharleez's birthday will be, it seems otherwise. For now, excluding friends, we have about 40 guests in total. Excluding relatives, we have 60. Combine them altogether, and we have 100 guests. Simply great. My mum INSISTS that we invite all the aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Pardon her excitement, Sharleez is her first grandchild, you see? On other hand, I have assured some friends that they will be invited. And you know how this whole invitation thingy works, right? If I choose to invite person A because I am closer to person A, and person B who is close to person A but not that close to me finds out, person B will be very, very hurt. Now, we do not want anybody to be hurt in the process, do we? So, I really do not know who to invite. Maybe I should just close one eye or better still both eyes, and invite 100 people to Sharleez's 1st! Whether or not there will be enough space and food on the actual day, let's not bother for now. I shall leave the worrying and panicking till then. How's that?
But let's look on the bright side. It's not likely that everyone invited will turn up. For sure, some will definitely report sick.
We shall hope for the best.
I really just want the best for Sharleez's 1st birthday. Period.

// Partied. // Monday, December 10, 2007

Why, hello everybody!
I thought I would not survive the two grand birthday parties of my friends yesterday but I did! Both parties were super duper fun! Thank you for inviting me dear Aunties and Uncles. And do you want to know something? I won the 'Best Dressed' award for BOTH parties! Boy, was I lucky! My mummy was so proud of me till she forgot to take a decent picture of me with my pompom! So I had to resort to going to Aunty Hana's blog discreetly to 'borrow' the following picture of myself. Aunty Hana, I will return the picture to you once I am done, okay? ('-')
You might want to go to Aunty Hana's and Aunty Julie's blogs for more pretty pictures of me everyone. :)
Anyway, guess who?!

*Chuckles*
Love, Sharleez
P.S: Mama Aan, pls leave Hong Kong. Come back to Singapore. I miss you!

// In a Super Sport. // Saturday, December 8, 2007
Oh no! Oh oh! What should we do? Two MAJOR birthday parties to attend to tomorrow. One has a 'Superhero' theme, the other a 'Sports' theme. The one with a major headache? Me! (Ili just called me a loser and asked me to get a diary.)
Now which Superhero is sporty at the same time?

// Guest who! // Thursday, December 6, 2007
Sharleez turned 11 months on the 3rd of December. Happy 11 months, baby! This also means I have about a month left only to plan for her birthday bash. Since her first birthday (and seemingly her subsequent birthdays too) will fall on a schooling day, it will be a belated birthday celebration for my poor girl.
How sad.
I am really serious about making her party Winnie The Pooh-ish. From the balloons to the paper plates to the goodie bags to the party banners to the birthday cake. Everything MUST be pooh-ish. Oh, don't you worry, I am not ordering the cake from P.r.i.m.a.d.e.l.i. :) (Their cakes are awfully nice, though.)
The biggest problem so far is to come up with the ideal guest list. As big as this whole birthday party affair may seem, Sharleez's birthday bash is really supposed to be just a simple family affair. I mean, it will be too overwhelming for my poor girl if she were to have so many strangers at her first birthday party. And like I mentioned in my previous entry, to have all these strangers combine their forces and sing the birthday song at full volume with all their might, might be too much for her (and me) to take. I can so imagine her howling and bawling already.
So how now?
Who should I invite? Who MUST I invite?
Relatives? Friends? Colleagues? Blogmates?
Or simply my family members?
Problem, problem!
It is almost as good as coming up with a guest list for the wedding of the year, I tell you.
Aiyah.
