Of course, Geocities decides to go down right when I take down my mirror archive. Grr. Anyway, you can reach MOST of my fics from this url: http://www.scils.rutgers.edu/~pontori2/fanfics/fanfics2.html I may update it a little bit if I can before the system goes down. Thank for for your patience :) This is why I NEED my own domain. Suggests for names would be welcome. Anyway, went to a wedding this weekend. Had a great time. There's something about when a friend gets married that's different than all the obscure relatives weddings I've gone to. I've already picked the opening song for my own: Come What May from Moulin Rouge. Ah, to hear Ewan sing it... Um, anyway:) I have lots of work to do, so that's all she blogged for now folks :) Methos has left the building at 09:53 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2002 Let's play good news, bad news. Good news. I started finally rewriting "Redemption" and planning the third and final story in the arc. Bad news. This prevented me from working on the Star Wars/Scorpion fic idea I came up with. Good news. My work project got approval! Bad news. I need to update a whole lotta webpages. And finally, took this little quiz, thanks to Elektra:
Take the What High School Stereotype Are You? quiz, by Angel. Methos has left the building at 12:49 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2002 Went to Borders the other day and picked up TokyoPop's latest foray -- 100% manga, aka English translated manga with the art intact, ie from right to left. They are translating CLAMP's Chobits, so I picked up vol. 1 of that. I also found a volume called MARS, by someone called Fuyumi Soryo. First, some comments on Chobits. It seems utterly un-Clamp like at first glance. More half-naked babes and less Bishonen than I'm used to. However, if you can get past the T and A, there is a interesting and fairly relevant story in there. In conclusion, I did like Chobits. It was intriguing, though not nearly so much as Clover or CCS. This is however, a very adult manga. Nothing I would ever show my little cousin. Now for MARS. I fell in love with this book. It's a typical story really, good girl Kira Aso falls for Bad Boy Rei Kashino. But is it really so typical? High school never looked so frightening. Soryo doesn't shy away from the hard stuff. This is a manga that definately deals with issues faced by teens everyday (including harrassment by other students and sexual misconduct by a teacher). Most importantly, this is a story with interesting female characters, a story with feeling. The art might throw CLAMP fans off at first (I know it did me), but I eventually grew used to the too-wide eyes and eyelashes. Lastly, I loved this first vol. I can't wait for the next 14. I'm so glad TokyoPop brought it over. Methos has left the building at 09:03 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2002 I have a new Clover layout, to go with the Clover fic Idea that hasn't been written yet. Go, check it out, and let me know if it doesn't work on anyone's browswer. Any one planning on going to Shoujo-con in July? Drop me a line... Methos has left the building at 07:52 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2002 Good news and bad news. Bad news is my car is at the shop and will be for like another week or so. Good news is that I get to drive my dad's VW around until then. And no internet for me. Sniffies. Damn you XP/AOL! Damn you! This would be more of a tragedy if I didn't get online all day at work. Methos has left the building at 10:44 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2002 Questions - some frivolous, some not 1. Why do people who you think are you friends totally dis you and only contact you when they want something? 2. Why won't aol work with xp? :(Methos has left the building at 02:29 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2002 1. Never ever put a processor fan on if the processor is not completely on the motherboard. Damn fan's a b*tch to get off. 2. The more tired you are, the funnier Saturday Night Live is. 3. Installing Windows XP will fix all the problems with your old computer (who knew?) 4. People will pay an amazing amount of money for food at a computer show. 4. XP is fun, but scary. Happy St. Patricks's Day for those who celebrate it! Methos has left the building at 11:28 a.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2002 reading other people's livejournals First off, got this:
Second, I've spent the evening reading livejournals of people I don't know. Quite interesting, actually. I realized that my life is nowhere near as interesting. I read a lot of comic books, and a lot of slash fiction. I spend far too much time day dreaming and not enough writing. I ignore the dog too much. Well, hopefully I'll have a new computer tomorrow, and maybe that will spark some creative interest. Maybe I'll finally color those pages of Hero Cross. Of course, that whole thing is a present (sort of) for Tom, who doesn't read Blogs. Anyway, it's only 10pm and I'm exhausted. I'm going to bed soon...Oh no, I'm missing Iron Chef. Gah! Bye... Methos has left the building at 10:12 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2002 This annoys me. I'm reading this fic and it's horrible. Why did I start? It was rec'd as a really good fic. It's apparently one of the better known fics in this particular fandom. And it sucks. I mean, the idea behind it is great. It's got some great scenes. But the characters are not only OOC (Out of Character) for the TV series, I don't think normal people would act like this! And the writing is just bad. It's like this person just wrote and wrote and wrote and NEVER bothered to reread what she wrote. And it's LONG. Did I mention that? It's bad and it goes on forever. And of course, I keep asking myself. Why am I reading this? I keep interjecting MST3Ks to myself (Intense COOKING action!) But I think I just gotta stop. Gotta get away from the computer. My big question is, why do people rec bad fics? I mean, in a completely different fandom I'm into (TPM) I've never been rec'd a bad fic. I know if it's recommended, it's gonna be good. Er, except for this really bad fic that got a good review on the ML. That's the exception. In this other fandom, that shall remain nameless, it's getting really hard to find ANYTHING good. This other fandom is NOT X. Just thought I'd let you know. My other pet peeve of the day, the hierarchy in Slash by fans and writers. I can't believe the politics, back biting, etc. I really want to write a paper on it. The subculture of the subculture. RPS people, and MPreg people and BDSM people and more, and how they don't get along. It's worse than the politics in Vampire: The Masquerade. Did I mention my head hurts? No? Well, it does. I think it was from spending all day reading this stupid fic. I am NOT going to go back to it. I can't stand it anymore. GAH. Methos has left the building at 03:44 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2002 Tom does not read blogs. He does not want a blog, because he doesn't believe in 'em. Too bad, blogs are some of the more interesting things on the net these days. He probably won't be reading this though. I have an idea for a new layout for my page. Unfortunately, it will have to wait until I get my new computer, which will hopefully be next weekend (Right, Gale?:) Methos has left the building at 09:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2002 I'm learning php. It seriously makes my head hurt, so right now I'm taking a break. Computer dies like clockwork every 2 hours. So I haven't been using it much. Consequently, no ficcing, except for bits of Highlander fic I've scribbled on (gasp!) actual paper with a PEN. Methos has left the building at 03:06 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2002 Just wanted to go EEP! Cause Kyle mentioned me in his blog. I feel so special:) Oh, and Keri, thanks for those scans they were really neat! I especially liked the one with Subaru without his shirt on:) I was having deep thoughts today about where I was when severe, earthshattering events happened. Like when the Challenger Exploded or Sept. 11. That's when I realized I could remember the exact moment when I learned that Seishirou died. My second thought was, "that's so wrong!" I was at school, on a break in the middle of class. I went to the computer lab to check my email. Read the summary real quick, then when back to class in shock and wrote "RIP Seishirou" all over my notebook. So, where were you? Methos has left the building at 07:30 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2002 the best thing about new york city... So, I was all excited this weekend, going to China Town, maybe finding some X manga or some anime subs... When Chris' friends suggest a place called Lucky Cheng's... Yes, it was a drag bar. Yes, I was terrified at first. (Picture it, me, surrounded by 6 guys, at a table, while tall, provacatively dressed transvestites sashayed by.) You know, this just might show up in a fanfic sometime soon. The best part was that John(?) had a giant Totoro plushie (easily have the size of me) that got placed on the stage. And the other John got sat on...and then there were the floor shows. Random people picked up from the audience, placed on stage and danced over. Once I got over my initial fear, it was kinda fun. Although I'd be a bit wary about letting Chris' friends take me anywhere. So, how was your weekend? Methos has left the building at 02:48 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2002 Happy Chinese New Year! (to those who celebrate that!) and Happy Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday)(for those who celebrate that!). I have fanfics. Specifically, I have a TB fic which is sitting on my laptop waiting to be edited. However, figure skating is on tonight. Oh no. Which means the fic won't be seeing the light of day anytime soon. Although, on a lighter note, I've started the next Cherry Delight Story. Methos has left the building at 03:26 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2002 So anyway, I find this stupid website, that publishes so called "Christian" comics (right now I won't dignify that site with a link from my blog, but if anyone wants to check it out for themselves, just drop me a line) and the site quoteth thusly:
Now, if you actually go and LOOK in the BIBLE, MY BIBLE, at least, says:
Ok, this is why I dislike evangelical Christianity. Anyway, the comic was called "The Truth about Homosexuality" and featured a guy who was gay who had AIDS and his Lover, who had been married to a woman, who had died of AIDS. (Of course the point was that Jesus could change the guy and make him straight.) If we're going to talk about the Truth about homosexuality, how about my professor who's been with his partner for over 30 years, which is longer than most marriages last in the U.S. What about that truth? Or does it not count? I'm taking my annoyance of the evening out on this site. Sorry loyal readers ;) Methos has left the building at 06:53 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2002 Yeah, so I taught another Library Instruction class yesterday. And there was this boy, who coulda been a dead ringer for Xander from Buffy. And right behind him sat a girl who coulda been Willow's sista. And I'm standing there thinking, I'm the Librarian, what does this make me? Giles? Methos has left the building at 10:24 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2002 Plot? We don't need no stinkin' Plot! Well, finished the next chapter of Game of You. A filler piece really, till we can get to the good stuff:) On the other hand, computer still acting buggy. Definately need to reformat. But can't reformat until I can back up my files. Can't back up my files until I reformat because the CD Burner won't work. ARGH!!!! And work is starting to get busy, y'know, I actually have to do...work! What a surprise:) But what I really need is a plot. I have all these ideas for fics, but they don't have any substance. Like my X/Highlander/Justice League crossover idea. (That's a lot o' characters to handle...sigh...) And of course, I get hooked by this really long, excellent Highlander fic. But it's got so much Angst! I really need a good humor fic right now. Sigh. Methos has left the building at 06:54 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2002 Ok, so just before my alarm woke me up this morning, I was enjoying a dream where I was starring as Obi-Wan girlfriend in Star Wars: Episode 2, Attack of the Clones. Of course, in the dream, I also played my clone and got slashed in half by Obi-Wan, but I digress. Also, as part of this weird-ass dream, I dreamt Shinri had sent me the next part of Game of You and it was a full color beautifully illustrated manga. I got all upset, because as you all know, I don't draw very well. Very odd night. Perhaps this means I should go work on Game of You... In other thoughts, I think it was You who was talking about accents? When I was in England last year with my friends, everyone thought we were from Austrailia. Which is kinda odd, since we were all American, with New Jersey accents. (Oh, except for the Tower of London guys, who, when Annie said, "Yes, I speak English," they replied, "No, you speak American:)" I guess they get plenty of American tourists there. I'm all alone at work. Everyone is out! And I'm wearing my sexy boots that make me look like either a superhero or a prostitute. Oh well. Methos has left the building at 09:39 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2002 Before I get to the serious stuff here, let me just advertise my little poll. I also started a message board type thing, in case anyone cares:) Lika, I've avoided your blog because when you said, "tearing my ideas to shreds," I took you quite literally, and being a very sensitive person, I was scared to read what you wrote. And then I read it and it wasn't that bad. What I meant by "everything good comes from God." I was trying to convey in mere words the utter horror of what Hell must be like even if it is just a state of being. And I personally don't think that if someone doesn't believe in Jesus that person is going to hell. Actually, that's a big sticking point with me. I got into an argument with a bunch of fanatical Christians after I asked a really cool Methodist preacher about it. Um, long story for another time. BTW, you want controversy? I was talking to a women this weekend who said that this whole idea of an afterlife or Heaven comes from a group of Jews who at Jesus' time wanted to believe in one, and not necessarily from Jesus. I wanted to ask her more about that, but we were at a party and stuff happened. Lastly, about the Bible being God-breathed, that's something else I've argued with some of my more fundamental friends. Let's just take ONE simple example. The Catholic bible has 7 books that the Prodestants do not accept as canonical, for whatever reason (something to do with them being originally in a certain language.) Now, if these 7 books were originally part of the Bible, are they not the same? God-breathed? Whether or not you think so, the point is, humans made the decision to cut those books out. Humans have been editing and translating the Bible. There are bound to be mistakes. On that note. I go off to do some work and plan some fics... Methos has left the building at 02:10 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2002 Yeah, I have stuff to do, am I doing it? No. And they pay me for this...:) Thank you and you, for saying you liked my new layout:) I think I'm finally happy with it:) Lika, did you get that email I sent you? I showed one of my co-workers my X and CCS manga (the real Japanese ones) and she returned the favor. I now have 5 volumes of "Spirited Away" or "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi." It looks really cool. I'll have to borrow the DVD from John... In other exciting news, Sailor Mac joined CFFML. It's weird, like having a celebrity join or something. I read her stuff a long time ago, early on in my (embarrassing) Sailor Moon phase. So, as for ficcing, it's on hold cause my computer is acting goofy and won't boot up! GRRR. This annoys me. I didn't have trouble with the stupid thing until I installed that damn CD burner that doesn't even work. Sigh, have to go back to work... Methos has left the building at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2002 Thanks Ammie for have this on your page. Look who I got! ![]() You will marry LEGOLAS from Lord of the Rings, live in an ancient elven palace in the middle of the forest, and spend your days walking on top of snow and rowing ivory boats and just being beautiful. What's YOUR M * A * S * H future? Methos has left the building at 03:19 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2002 If you love fantasy novels, if you liked Harry Potter, then run, not walk to your local books store and pick up the Golden Compass trilogy by Phillip Pullman. It's the most innovative series I've read in years. Methos has left the building at 06:09 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2002 Hey, I'm getting better at these Blog layouts;) It's about time Pitas let me change the darn thing! I was so sick of the old one... Just wanted to say one thing...Lika um, I do read original fics online...they just have to be really good, like Sahari's stuff over at the Yaoi Shrine. Um, they also happen to have a healthy dose of smut:) Haven't been to the DoS board lately. Don't know why, really. Maybe it's the same reason I haven't written any fanfics lately... I owe a chapter of Game of You, but I'm completely blanked. In my writer's blocked state I did manage to update my fanfic page, although not the main page of my site. I also am writing the script for a library instruction video. Interesting, huh? Methos has left the building at 09:39 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2002 |
