| Girl, born in SG, lives in SG. I enjoy listening music (coldplay, U2, white stripes, rhcp, badly drawn boy), watching movies (das experiment, gangs of ny, matrix, lotr), reading (vonnegut, raymond chandler, tolkien, cs lewis, italo calvino). My tastes are vulgar and middleclass, but i would really like to be an poet,;) ok, you can LAUGH now... |

Every Joke is a tiny revolution Merging both definitions of jamming with culture, culture jamming can be seen technically as the innovative and alternative ways in which people are offering a form of creative, non-violent resistance against the way we view the world, either for the sake of the interruption or for getting an alternative message across. A less technical, and more general description of culture jamming is that it is an eclectic collection of sub-cultural practices ranging from various forms of media sabotage, billboard alterations, media hoaxing, subversion, computer hacking, and elements of graffiti... |

| My thoughts- Movie: Pirates
of the Caribbean
A fairly enjoyable outing from the big honchos of
Hollywood, POC makes the cut on the list of movies to watch.
Going there with fairly low expectations helped. The movie
kept me interested throughout with interesting play of CGI effects and
some good old cinematography. The set and storyline reminded
me a whole lot of RPG and adventure games- of which 'Monkey
Island' is a name that springs to mind.
Johnny Depp's captain Jack Sparrow enlivened the
set with his dandy off-the-kilter persona. In spite his wearing
black kohl, dreadlocks, a ugly goatee complete with a swarty complexion*-
Depp looks like a sexy bastard - and he stole the show right under the
nose of Orlando Bloom (there u go! haha) and Geoffrey
Rush. Then again, maybe it's just me- heheh..;)
Comic at moments, with a few references(Addams
family, trojan, aztec gold, guv'nor daughter meets nice poor young man
with a past and a some necessary gung-ho fighting by Kiera-yadayadda)
the movie does not require you to undergo any brain surgery.
The pirates were the nicest I ever saw on big screen- luckily Depp
brought an edge to the movie with his comic-tragic Jack- the
captain disowned by his men, the unlucky ladies man- the eternal fool
and outsider whose head the authority is itching to hang. Don't bring along your brain to scrutinise anything- just enjoy. Disney fodder. ***/5 *(Depp modelled the character of Captain Jack Sparrow on Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones) |

What a perfect day! There couldn't be a perfecter day.. somehow the weather held up, nobody's pet goldfish died (and had to attend funeral), and everyone had a lovely tan.. except me... and poor tino.. haha. We looked more like escapees from a tribe of cannibals cooking pot-
Anyway, as van said, we had sushi, pasta, chicken curry, hotdogs, samosa, brownies, bee hoon. I think Ika or Saj, after tasting Huiya's sushi, booked her for her wedding banquet..ohmi..10 years later! We were all joking Huiya would be so busy with orders we all had to advance our orders by a few years. We are such a corny bunch. We also found out Huiya's other fetish (apart from Sean Connery) is Dog and bone- wait, fetish-isn't the right word right? oh, u should see her with the victory fists. She gives new meaning to the 'fan' and 'natic' in 'fanatic'-haha:) ok, huiya dont kill me..
Yes, basically we just swam in the lagoon like nobody's business and stayed out there from 12 to 4pm. Then Van, Val and I made Ika wear seaweed on her hair. And I made her play Malay princess. (I think we all had sunstroke..) The boys played volleyball- well, it was a good effort-hehe-and we honestly tried to cheer every ball that went over the net by our boys(even though it when off to the sides)- Awwww...
Then I started becoming crazy about frisbee and played it(abeit-terribly) with nick, tino and mike. Then with huiya- who somehow managed to get thru my peanut brain tt a frisbee could be thrown straight. So I owe her one... ;)
Shower was quite funny because van was so sleepy she put bath soap on her hair
instead of shampoo. Later, mike took a pic of saj in her turban-towel wif a
freaked out look. We ended up at the hawker center at harbourfront where saj
and I had a hilarious incident with chicken mutubark and 'chao tar' involved
in it. And, oh yes, our sips of 'blood and rust' bandung, thanks to anaiz..
Saj, zuan and val... zuan, be nice to the camera..;P
This two bathed the fastest- the rest of the guys were taking their own sweet time that was why they were not in the picture..haha:)
4 of a kind- king, naiz, zuan and nick
yah, this was us lazy people (val, van and 'extra' at the back) taking a monorail instead of walking. As u can see, i had the worst tan- if u can call it a tan.
Tino, mike, saj and huiya- everyone was quite tired from staying up to write
essays but they still managed big lovely smiles
mike stayed up e whole night, huiya was up quite late, van finished only at
5+..
ahh.. got everyone in the pic xcept for ika, rockey, priya and siewzhi who all had to go off early. There's our 'blood and rust' bandung. Fifi, all the drinks our class takes are spiked! I'm sure our fav peach tea has cocaine or draincleaner inside... Oh yeah-it was a fabulous day- we should do it more often. Mr Tan, Mr Wong and Mr Siew can join us next time-haha..
