coupla quickie updates:

spent today with an old friend of mine from montreal, tali. she came in to town late last night for a visit. haven't spent time with her in ages. first time she's been to see me in toronto since i moved here three years ago. fun.

last night i had a great time. went for dinner then to the pub. saw tons of friends *and* mike meyers, cool eh? in true canuck fashion, i didn't want to disturb the celeb with my "you're shagadelic" cries.. but andrew did go up to him for a quick chat.

speaking of celebs, i have to admit i am pretty excited b/c i am going to see ricky martin perform at a the guvernment on monday night to a limited audience. i think the most exciting part is that my mom is jealous. heheheh.

oh, word to oneofthose.com. want to say justathankyou. wanted to cheer you up after that justatip msg you got ;-)

Friday, February 23, 2001 - 06:29 p.m.

just call me ms. supacranky. my eyes are burning, my stomach is grumbling, my body is aching... today was l-o-n-g. and i am sleep deprived because raine gave me caffeinated tea last night thinking it was herbal. in case you don't already know, being as hyper as i am when caffeine free, i seem to have EXTREME reactions to CAFFEINE. let's just say that when i got home last night i had some excess energy. i was completely wired and didn't fall asleep until after 2:00 a.m. - not late for most of you net peeps, but for a working gal who did not one but 2 workouts yesterday and had to bring her car in before going to work today, it was late. needless to say, today i feel like i have a terrible hangover, but all i really have is an extreme need for sleep... (and my bloody period.. for more on the dreaded monthly visit, read my contribution to this week's streeters on moxie.ca

anyhow, speaking of caffeine, here is an interesting e-mail fwd from oneofthose comparing water to coke: (all you cola heads take note!)

WATER:

We all know that water is important but I've never seen it described like this before.

75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. Likely applies to half the world population)

In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

One glass of water shuts down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a U-Washington study.

Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?

=================================================

COKE:

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and .......Let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a crumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, And run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

FYI:

1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its Ph is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

now i don't know if any of this is true or not, but either way i am going to go drink some water... and prob. pass out.

Thursday, February 22, 2001 - 05:43 p.m.

not much too say but haven't updated since tues... so i figured i'd better get on it. oneofthose pointed out that my dailymatic dates were all screwy so i tried to fix 'em. i finally realized the culprit, the dude's computer is set 5 days ahead.. weird.

got home early cos i went to physio.. speaking of which, i owe jeff a big up, in case he's finally found his way to my site. jeff - thanks for making working out fun. (keep in mind, if i suffer this weekend, you will too.. muhahaha..)

tonight, survivor and sushi with raine. does life get any better?

later,

e.

Tuesday, February 20, 2001 - 09:45 p.m.

grr. i just got home and am competing with the tick for the dude's attention. it's pissing me off.

oooh.. now he just saw the tick website out of the corner of his eye and is coming over to see what site it is. i'm gonna alt+tab the jerk. can you tell i am pms-ing? (more on that in moxie.ca's next streeters...)

i just came from seeing quills with the baker. i don't think we've hung out just the two of us in over a year.. it was good to see her. the movie was great too. really enjoyed it. has everything i like, perversion, violence, lust and the insane. i wasn't expecting to like it as period pieces often bore me. yes, i know, i am sooo uncultured.

geoffrey rush was excellent as the marquis de sade. it peaked my curiousity and i am seriously considering reading one of the marquis' books. it would be a nice progression.. i just finished reading vladimir nabokov's lolita. (look for a book babe link later this week..)

watched the titan ae dvd last night. surprisingly good! matt damon and drew barrymore are voice-overs for the leads, if that's any incentive?

ok. better go eat.

Sunday, February 18, 2001 - 10:30 p.m.

you know it's been hectic when i only updated my site once last week. nutty. I don't remember skipping that many days. it's all just a blur at this point.

last week i started doing weights at physio. exciting stuff. now i am working out 5 times a week. is this really me?

today grabbed some juice for life with jenn. it was good to get some face time. it's been awhile since we've communicated via anything but voice mail, e-mail and weblogs. welcome to the 21st century.

tonight, joel and noah came over. noah is moving back to montreal for a bit and then he is off to a not yet known but distant land to build websites, possibly kosovo.

bush put bombs over baghdad and the first thing that came to my mind was b.o.b. by outkast. i am part of the mtv generation and it fills me with self-loathing. i am also filled with hatred for right-wing politicians who promote war, probably because it's good for the economy. now saddam is preparing for a holy war. fucktastic.

bush claims it's part of some overall strategy. the only strategy i see is for bush to establish himself as boss. he's the man. he's large and in charge. and people are going to die because of it.
