watched a preview of Almost Famous wednesday night with Adam. Three letters: LOL! A loose autobiography of cameron crowe's life, i really related to all the music/journo content.. except for the wild parties, sex and drugs ;-) full of one-liners, i haven't laughed like that in awhile. go see it.
off to montreal today for anat + darrell's engagement party. wild!

holy updates batman!
introducting: the nihilistic spasm band. once your hear them, your lives will forever be changed. i learned about them via a documentary on the band directed by zev asher that premiered at the toronto film fest last night.
referred to as the fathers of noise, they're all the rage in japan. a canadian band, they have performed together every monday night in london, ont. for the past 30 years. they build their own wacky instruments and have no musical training. i know we're not supposed to have favourites, but i loved vocalist/spoken word master bill exley. he has one of the most listenable/commanding voices i have ever encountered. one of their first albums was released on vinyl as an insert in canada arts magazine years ago. it was recently auctioned on ebay for $900!! unbelievable.
if you live in toronto, check 'em out. they're performing at the clearspot on college st. (by markham) tomorrow night.
in other music news, rumour has it radiohead are planning secret gig in toronto on october 18. for details and more deviant rock gossip, visit chartattack.com

ok. busy at work but i had to expose this work of art that poor cold-ridden raine wrote me yesterday. she's a sick word poet. it's called pillow:
I'm going to put my PJ's on and lounge in the apt.. then i'm going to go to bed at 9:30 - 10:00.... i can almost feel my pillow...
soft
warm
blankets
chai tea...
i can feel my cozy bathrobe as it engulfs me
flick
flick
flick
67 channels and nothing on..
flick
flick
soft
soft
pillow
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
well, hope raine feels better soon! check back later today for updates on the nihilist spasm band an facsinating flick i saw at the film fest last night, tons of new links and more!

woohoo! managed to score a ticket to the mmva's.
saw nurse betty the other night. rene zelwiger plays a woman who is in love with a soap opera doctor. gary kinnear, chris rock and morgan freeman also star. good acting, funny plot... overall entertaining but too much unexpected violence. one scene in particular was just brutal but i won't spoil it for you.
tonight, running errands, trying to go to my relaxation class (don't think i have time, oh the irony!) and possibly a film fest flick.
ta! ta!
