World's and stuff...

Today we have sketches of my two of my orichara, BoB/Terminus and an attempt at making Osiris look vaguely happy (it's not as easy as it sounds!). O-ris is co-property of WhiteCat, but I think she'd agree Osiris doesn't like being owned by anyone ^_~. Anywhoo, out of all the characters I've created, I'm most fond of Osiris and BoB, with Aaron and Weisse high up there.

Here's some random facts about Osiris that I don't think anyone besides me know...First off, when I did my first pic of Osiris I had decided I wanted to create a badass. He was going to be a blend of John Constantine (Hellblazer), Wolverine (X-Men), Ash (Army of Darkness) and Solid Snake (MGS). For his visual design, I wanted a lot of buckles and straps and a mismatched, scruffy look. The purple patches, the mismatched eyes and skunk hair were purely aesthetic. His red shirt is actually based on Zidane's, with a grungy flare, and the pants are pure Han Solo/calvary ^^. His trench coat was going to be red, but since it felt too Trigun-y and I wanted the atmosphere to be dark and industrial, I chose green to avoid that feel. The bird (soon to be Seth) was originally going to actually be of help to Osiris (unnamed until WhiteCat saw the pic) in battles by fighting/giving O-ris magic powers. As you may know, that was scrapped.

Hmm, can't think of anything else, except I thought of O-ris at one in the morning on a school night (sleeping on the couch while our wood floors were being put in) and couldn't sleep until I'd made a rough sketch. See? Even in the beginning he was a pushy bastard.

I can't even remember how BoB came around....wait...that's right. I wanted to do a tablet pic of a h4x0r and "Bombs over Baghdad" came on my mp3 player (it's almost always set to random). BoB was originally just a cheerful, confident teen, but he rapidly degenerated into an emotionally unstable, part computer, megalomaniac, self-centered virus. He is the most twisted, sociopathic character I have ever created, yet I love him so ^^.

Sorry the rant was so long today...this is why I don't usually talk about character orgins. Still, some of you might be vaguely interested; I'm personally always curious how others get ideas. For me, it usually starts with a character design or situation and expands into a universe from there. A good 80% of the worlds I create are scrapped immediately or I take the best elements (character or otherwise) and stick them in another universe. Valtra from Triple Strike was originally named Kaishin and was heir to the throne of a sea-faring people in a demon-realm. I would show you a picture of her original design, but they're all so awful even I won't post them ^^***.

Ack! There I go again! I'm going to shut up now....

Be afraid

Well, Harper liked the duct tape roll I gave him. He said it was the best recommendation "bribe" he'd received all year XD. Yanno, as much as I suck at Physics, Harper is the best. I'd take the class solely based on that.

Anyway, before I get ahead of myself, here's the "Sharky got bored and wandered around on E-bay looking at doujinshi and was reminded why she doesn't go there for doujinshi" list.

Warning, some of the following links lead to disturbing (to me) content. If you like it, that's your own business, but I still feel obliged to give a warning, as I was pretty weirded out when I came across some of these things. Also some of the pictures shown border on explicit so caveat!

1. 2001: A Space Odyssey. Actually, this wasn't so much disturbing as amusing. As long as it's not hentai or yaoi, it might even be kinda cool. Still, 2001 doujinshi...I laugh (Dave's a cutey ^^**)
2. Azumanga Daioh. Hentai. Yeah, I should have seen it coming, but still...*beats head against wall*. The scary thing was there was quite a bit of this type of stuff o.@. So not cool.
3. Powerpuff girls. Hentai. Why, dear God, why???!!! *claws at eyes* Far be it from me to pass judgement on others, but no...just no.
4. Kingdom Hearts. Yaoi (Trinity-slash). *pauses* Wait! I'm not a Catholic! It's okay for me to kill myself, right? *happily goes off to buy a shotgun*
5. Cyborg 009. Yaoi. The art's so pretty, but I don't want to buy hard yaoi doujinshi. Such nice art though, even if it kinda squicks me ;_;.
6. Saiyuuki Gaiden. Yaoi. This just makes me sad ;_;. you know why...
7. Yuu Yuu Hakasho. Yaoi. This one took me a second to figure out. Er...is it just me, or is this very wrong on many, many different levels? o.@
8. Final Fantasy VII. Yaoi. Honestly, Cid and Vincent confuses me more than anything. I mean, did I miss something when I played the game??? Damn popular couple though *shrugs*.

For those of you still here who don't hate me, there's art of Rodrigues from Shogun. Depending on how my marker coloring turns out, I may CG it. Otherwise, I'm pretty satisfied. The proportions aren't perfect, but if I don't try, I'll never improve. 'Sides, it's Rodrigues....*_*...hee...

Oh, and I'm so happy Futurama came to Cartoon Network. The time it airs on Fox is horrible for me, and I've always had trouble catching the episodes. From now on, it's beer-guzzling, prostitute-seeking Bender-action four nights a week (or until I get bored of it) XD. But how can one ever tire of Bender? Wow, for the first time in months, I'm actually planning on watching multiple shows regularly. It's kinda creepy, but not nearly as much so as the list above, I'm sure. Sorry!

Oh, and I'm glad I finally have someone else I can talk to about Penny Arcade. It's such a fun comic. Yeah, it's uber nerdy, but that's what makes it so cool. Oh, and Vimes is the biggest badass in literature ever Period XD There's only one person I know who doesn't like him, but I hate her (just kidding. She's my friend...really ^_~). Yeah, I'd better stick my foot in my mouth before I dig my grave even deeper; this was a damn long entry o.@.

Trickseyness

Heh...*head grows imperceptibly larger* If anyone else would like to pet my ego, feel free ^^. God, I'm really such a flattery-whore when you get right down to it.

Oh, and MGS2:S is coming to the PS2 on March 4 so you won't have to maintain a mullet for my own nefarious purposes ^^. 'Course, if you did, I'd love you that much more ^_~.

And I swear, I'm working on the e-mail ;_;. It's long, yanno? I'm doing it bit by bit....And I don't have Mad Skillz, not really. I draw quite a bit, so I can fake it sometimes, but really...no...this is how I'd like to draw/color. Sometimes I do pretty cool things, but they're shite compared to real artists.

But anyway! Apparently the next WoT book is out...????....dammit. Between that and Shogun, I'm never gonna finish Their Eyes Were Watching God. I wanna get to Shakespeare ;_;. "Hamlet" is fecking awesome, and I'm waiting for an excuse to go on my usual rant about existentialism when we start reading Stoppard.

Geh, anyway, I worked with Drasnor on Physics, so maybe that won't completely kick my ass. And hopefully I'll understand Calculus when I read the book, since, as much as I try, I can't concentrate on what the teacher is saying in that class. I swear I'm trying! It's just, she starts talking and suddenly I'm thinking "fifty minutes left in class; maybe if I stare at the clock hard enough, it'll move faster."

And I'm gonna do a piccy of Rodrigues ^^. Now that my wrist feels better, I'm gonna finish up some CGs I've been working on and get around to doing a real update. Yeah, I know I'm full of shit.

Thy mother..

Heh. Shogun is damn fun. Rodrigues better be a main character, dammit XD. Portuguese are the shit ^^***.

Anyway, here's a picture of Eeeyyviill Samurai Jack ® in ink. I couldn't resist. First off, it's evil Jack; add the "Army of Darkness" vibes he gives off, and I'm so there XD. And also, I did a quick doodle of miscellaneous Naruto characters, but mainly the Fourth since the Fourth is...well...sexy...=9. I was originally just practicing Shikamaru for a piccy I'm trying to do of him, but then I started flipping through volumes 13 and 14 and....yeah....distracted...hee *o*.

But damn! I itch for volume 15...I mean, this is a worse cliffhanger than in volume 3, since at least then I knew Sasuke lived. Besides volume 15, I wish I had Mad Japanese Skillz ;_;. The following questions are ones I have that may or may not have been answered already. Who's the goggle-boy that was Kaka-chan's teammate? How'd Kakashi get the Sharingan and meet Orochimaru? What's up with Kabuto? What's up with Gaara? Is the Third Hokage alive????? Eeesh...now I want Viz to translate damn fast _o_.

Er...now I'm going to be social so some people don't nag me. You always manage to find the squishiest art sites ^_^. You want skillz? I want skillz...it's really depressing, surfing the 'net; I always feel very masochistic ;.;.

*pauses* Sorry, got distracted...Apparently Soul Caliber is to come out in the first quarter...hmm...to spend fifty bucks on a fighter or to not spend fifty bucks on a fighter...We'll see.

Alexander Hamilton:
No longer just for breakfast

Gah...I'm such a dumbass...but that's an entirely separate issue than this journal. Also I had a brief locking of horns with my mom, but that's not something I'm going to talk about besides mentioning that I have nothing but respect for my mom and while we may not always agree, I know she's just trying to look out for me. So anyway!

I have two pics today. One is of Max again, simply because right after I create a character I have compulsive urges to draw them until I'm absolutely comfortable. And the other is of...you guessed it! A completely not-stylized Samurai Jack and chibi. Hurray for taking too many liberties with a character! Hey, you should of seen this one coming. I'm just so completely amused by that series. The way his hair always falls down and he always loses the top half of his robes is just too classic XD. Not to mention there is no series between here and Japan that is even comparable. Action packed with minimum dialogue and enough oddity to keep an off-beat humor without trying to be funny. It's a very strange show.

Anyway, I think I may be having a mental break down, but I'm not sure. I need to get my shit together before something entirely preventable happens and then...not important...to all my friends, don't worry about me (yeah, like any of you would anyway ^_~); any problems I have are mine alone and aren't connected to the outside world. I'm a very stable, emotionally mature person, you know ^_^.

So now I'd like to say, I'm already itching for the next issue of "Shonen Jump." While I have some doubts about "Naruto," my only experience with "One Piece" is in the magazine, and damn, but I want more. That's a really badass manga XD. "Yu-Gi-Oh" is cool, but I'm still not really into it. "Sandland" holds more interest that "DBZ" but that's 'cuz I left that particular series ages ago (is it just me, or is Rao like Vimes-incarnate with less snarky remarks?). But anyway, it's cool to get transations for "Yuu Yuu Hakasho," and it's revived my interest in the series. Yuusuke's such a badass! Er...what else? "Shaman King" is coming next issue, and that's always fun. Since I know only as much as her about the series, I'd prefer seeing more past volume 12ish than earlier scanlations, but beggars can't be choosers. ^^.

Bleargh...

No art...my wrist's feeling a little better, but I've been working mostly on "The Westlakean" and character sketches of Max. I was going to talk, but once again, I'm feeling uninspired. However, I did post on Life as a Man, which is always fun, as it allows my dorky, rude, self-centered male alter-ego to flex his muscles. But I think you may kill me...ehehe...

Oh yeah, 'twas the first day of school. Fun...bleargh....I think I'm in a bleargh mood. Not in any way emotionally distressed, but certainly not feeling particularly happy/inspired. On a completely different note, Samurai Jack is my newest obsession. It's so cool! And I love the muzack! All techno-y and cool! And apparently a PS2 game is in the works. I swear that show was made for an action hack'n'slash game XD. w00t!

Art for peeps

I'm really quite proud of these Athens ruins. I think it's my best watercolor to date, especially considering how quickly I finished. Two hours from the initial sketch to the finished product o.@. Not bad. Anyway, this'll be one of the few "other" pictures of mine that I'll ever post. Besides anime/gaming artwork, my real forte is architectural works/landscapes. See? You learn something every day ^^.

But since I'm sure none of y'all are the least bit interested in lousy architecture (I know I wouldn't be), here's a conceptual sketch for Terminus, the human half of the BoB-project. I've a growing fascination with my boy, BoB. In the initial universe, he was only a very minor character, but if I ever end up doing anything with it, I have a feeling he's going to be the star ^^;;;. Yes, I'm capricious that way.

"All art is quite useless"

I've decided that not everyone is capable of doing a comic. That is to say, not everyone is insane enough to do a comic. *pauses* I'm being incoherent. Let's try again. What's prompting this entry is that, since I'm working on issue 9 of "The Westlakean," I've had to go back and cross check a few things. And I have to say, the art I did (even for more recent issues), despite a great deal of labor and effort put into it, is Fucking Awful.

Some parts are even painful ;_;. It makes me want to go back and redraw the whole thing, because, arrogant as this may sound, I really like the story and some of those snarky little bits of humor I'd forgotten about made me laugh. I am really, truly proud of "The Westlakean." And part of the reason I won't ever go back and redraw it (well, besides my obvious lazy streak a mile wide), is that this more than anything has shown how far I've come as an artist. I'm improving. That's a good thing.

I mean, dear God, I was bad. To all of y'all who encouraged me back then and got excited about my art, thank you very much. You guys are the greatest *o*. I think having other people excited about my work has kept me excited, which, ultimately, has led to me becoming a better artist.

I'd do comics whether or not people read them. Some people write or sing to express their feelings and ideas, I draw comics. Maybe they're bad, maybe they're good, but I'm pretty sure if I didn't draw them, I'd go insane from the sheer force of reality. But it's still nice to have others like what you do ^_~.

So I guess I'll say thanks once again to those of you who like my stuff even though there are other, much better ones on the web.

I'm going to keep trying to improve, since despite how far I've come, there's still a long way to go. *cue dramatic music and leaves blowing in wind*. I'm going to do this for all of you, as well as myself. I'm going go on, through blood, sweat and tears to achieve my dreams and become worthy of the, oh crikey. Too much Kenshin, I say. Thick pieces of paper...hee *_*.

Rose Bowl: It's like football without football

So I watched the Rose Bowl Parade, and saw me bandy friends all a marching. Ha, now no one can bitch at me...and you guys are pretty cool, so go you.

This weeks been good. I've gotten to see my co-conspirator, which is always a good thing ^_~, as well as former divinity now residing in a burning swamp, and Abe, the Procurer Of All Good Things.

New Years was rather quiet, spent with a few packs of sparklers and those little spinny things that burst into flame if you do it right (*o*), and a Very Bad Person. This aforementioned person is very bad because she's gotten me back into Kenshin >_<. We were going to watch one or two of the Aoshi episodes in the Shishio arc, and ended up watching from Saitoh vs. the blind dude on. As cheesy as the series is, it holds a certain charm, and Aoshi is still ultra-badass, whatever people say about his over-angstyness XD. But now I'm tempted to complete my manga collection of the revenge arc, and pick up a few volumes from the Kyoto arc ;_;. Moneymoney down the hoooooolllllleeee~~~.....

Oh, and now that I've seen the first five episodes of Guu, I want more ;_;. Someone feed my addiction! I'm too cheap and lazy to do it on my own! Okay, enough bitching; let's get to the meat of this entry. My New Year's resolution is probably going to be to learn to draw human anatomy and do backgrounds properly, but since I've always found the whole concept of "New Year's resolutions" sort of stupid, it's more a goal than anything (If you want to be a better person, why do you have to wait for the new year?). Oh, and for people who wanna see incredibly silly LotR art and proof that the internet is full of crap, there's this and this. While it amuses me, I'm easily amused, so I wouldn't recommend wasting your time looking at it. ^^

Grr...my brother's still on the PS2...I don't want to kick him off since he doesn't have access to it the other eleven months of the year, but still ;_;. I guess I'll finish up a few health lessons while I wait.

Ah, a somewhat more coherent entry...now, I've got this overly long and boring rant, which, instead of containing a review for "The Two Towers" movie, basically explains why I like Tolkien, why I like Peter Jackson's interpretation and why you should like both of them too ^_~. So for those of you who realize I talk more than's healthy, there's this and this. Both LotR related (obviously!). All through my English final, I was like "Damn, they sure made the Harad-people fecking sexy =9" and "d00d, even she's going to like Legolas" and "Gimli 0|/z j00" and yeah ^^.

And since this is my effing blog, I'll subject you dear readers to whatever I feel like writing, so I'm now going to say what my current ideas are. Saa...I'm going to do one last review of physics then call it a night. I've made A's on the last two tests we've had....the one today and the one yesterday XD. The test today was a complete surprise to me. I was so pissed at Harper, when I walked in the door and found everyone hunched over the test. But it all works out in the end ^^. It's hard to stay mad at Harper; he's just so insane...

But anyway, today's piccy is of Jet Link from Cyborg 009. He's cool. 004's also a badass XD. On E-bay they have through episode 50, but I think there're 52 eps, so I'm kinda waiting to make sure I get the whole season, and don't get a dvd that leaves off at a horrible place o.@.

Reviews for Xenosaga range from "Nice movie; where's the game?" to "My life has been changed." So my curiousity has been piqued. I like story games. Sure, FPSs and platforms are fun, and every now and then I get in moods where I couldn't play an RPG if my life depended on it, but I always come back to them ^_~. And while the battle-system has apparently been changed quite a bit from that of beloved Xenogears, the original team is still working on Xenosaga, so I have faith. Although look how FFX turned out XP. But yeah, the plot and graphics will, without a doubt, be amazing so I'm still gonna get it when it comes out in March. And the voice actors had better have at least some talent *coughWakkacough*.

Anyway! To all the bandies, have fun in Chicago. Good luck! Same goes to all you people preparing for finals. And to those of you who've already finished up...screw you! What it lacks in content, it makes up in stupidity

You know what sucks? Okay, the phrase "Whoremonger" at first seems like a really good insult. You're calling someone a "whore" and a "monger" all in the same breath. How can it get more insulting? But! "Whore" equals a prostitute or hooker. "Monger" equals someone who sells something. A fishmonger sells fish, a warmonger sells, or condones, war. So a "Whoremonger" is actually a pimp, which in popculture terminology, is a badass or all around cool guy with all the hookups. So "whoremonger" is actually a compliment.

Never in this life will I have the pleasure of calling someone a "whoremonger." And it's such a beautiful phrase ;_;.

Really long boring entry

Okay, this rant is almost exclusively addressed to you, but it also is indirectly going to everyone out there who feels the same way. And, yes, I know I gave you this spiel yesterday, but I wanna make sure you get it through your head.

First of all, don't insult me and everyone around you by saying you're either a bad or stupid person or a loser or whatever. You're making the assumption that we, your friends, either have no understanding of what you're like, or that we're too lousy ourselves to find better friends. If you're as bad as you make yourself out to be, you'd have fewer friends than certain unnameable people.

It's okay to rant or vent your frustrations and angers. God knows, it's the only way I stay sane. So I'll do my best to listen to what you have to say; that's also part of friendship. Because, let's face it, feeling frustrated and angry are part of life just as much as fluffy bunnies and walks in the park. It's normal. We all feel it sometimes. Believe me. I'm not just saying that --that's personal experience talking.

But if you truly feel that your life is so horrible and you are such a loser, you really ought to reevaluate your life. And if, looking back, you still can't find enough happiness to counter-balance your self-dislike, then you'd better start trying to improve yourself. Otherwise you're going to be miserable for the rest of your life, and that is no way to live.

I'm not trying to sound harsh or hateful, and I certainly hope I'm not coming off that way. I've never been good at duplicity or even being particularly tactful. I'm not a writer, so I can't manipulate words to create heart-wrenching, thought-provoking essays. I call things as I see them. And this is how I see it. All people should question themselves and strive for something better. That's, when you get right down to it, the only thing we can do. But I've seen you changing over these past few years I've known you. You are growing and maturing, and perhaps you won't ever be the most prudent or sensible person on earth, but you're still smart and witty and charismatic and lovable. Why do you think I hang out with you?

That goes to all of y'all, even the people I don't know (since obviously if you're listening to what I'm saying, you can't be too bad ^_~). To me, you guys, my friends, are the funniest, kindest, most wonderful people on the face of the earth. I'm not going to say it often, but I'd hoped you'd kinda figure it out on your own. I hope you have.

So everyone, but mainly you. Appreciate who you are for what you are, even the bad things. This is the time when you first really begin to evaluate yourself, and that's a good thing. And don't underestimate us, either. We can discern who you are (maybe not entirely, but enough). We like what you see. Even Lilisin, who I'm pretty sure wouldn't have said what she did unless she meant it lovingly. *gets glared at* Er...not that I'd presume to know what Lilisin is thinking...*gets glared at more*

Right...This entry was overly long and pretentious, but as I said, I call 'em as I see 'em. Now I'm going to work on that html before I get drawn and quartered by a certain psychotic mouse.

"It appears to be a mechanical arm..."

Huzzah. I got to see Ricky and Abe during lunch, and though I'm still horribly far behind on what I planned to do for my "Computer Multimedia and Animation" class, I can probably throw together some shit for the due date.

I was going to see Star Trek: Nemesis with Drasnor and Omi, but Omes skipped out on us. Blah....blah I say. Anyway, I'm not going to mention anything spoilerific, but yeah, it's definitely a Star Trek movie. Quite a bit of fun, quite a bit of silliness, and that scene where Data and Picard escape....*grins* I have urges to play Descent II *o*. Some bad arse battle sequences, and need I mention that Romulan war-birds are the fucking shit? Dear God, the talons!!! *sparkles*

But I still have the same question that has bugged me since I first started watching the original. Why don't they have friggin' seat belts?! I mean, c'mon! Boldly going where mankind has never gone before, exploring strange new worlds, and pushing technology to its limit, and they can't figure out the applications of the seat belt?!

Oh, and the ending was...gwah. Many people are going to be unhappy.

Me? I think there's going to be a sequel, which I have mixed feelings about, but I've always been a fan of the original, so I'm not too worried. I'm a crazy wench, yes I am ^^.

Damn...there's not any good games out for the PS this winter. Xenosaga comes out in March, and MGS: Substance is still TBA, as is (I think) Soul Caliber... -- I need to stop screwing around and get work done, but I can't focus. I'm so far behind on everything. I'm so, so...'nuff bitching; gonna try to do something productive.

Calculus is officially the most evil class ever. What scares me is that the review was relatively easy, even though I honestly don't know what the hell is going on. At least the test is multiple choice...

But anyway, enough about Calc...Kiddies, it's that time of the year again, and we ought to sit down amidst all the hub-bub and frenetic gift-shopping and discuss the true meaning of Christmas.

See, once, long long ago, there was a man named "Hallmark" who claimed to be the son of God, sent down to earth to provide a wide, yet affordable range of gift cards for every event you could possibly have in your life. Now, while many saw him as a bringer of hope and cheer, the other greeting card companies were jealous, and in their anger, struck him down.

But Hallmark was no ordinary man, and after three days (and various out-of-court settlements), he and his company were reborn, providing light and joy for all future generations of mankind.

In honor of this great man's birth, we celebrate this time of year by sacrificing time and money at modern-day shrines, now known as "malls," buying gifts for everyone and their fourth-removed cousin's pet goldfish, and giving the extra change to non-profit organizations and homeless people, while ignoring said people/organizations the other eleven months of the year.

Yes, truly this is the most wonderful time of the year. Whatever your religion or beliefs, you can celebrate with all humankind by over-eating, over-spending and watching and rewatching "It's a Wonderful Life," which is somehow played at least 70 times in a given day.

..................

....Yup, that's about right. Oh, and for the record, I do actually enjoy December and Christmas, the holiday I celebrate. Although I maintain malls are fucking evil, especially right about now.

Merry "insert holiday here, because for some reason I'm choosing to be PC"!

I can think of no creative title...

Here's my orichara, BoB, looking pissed.

BoB is the first successful organic AI, created by the government to be dually a hacker-deterrent and virus-weapon. His creator programmed a virus into BoB to make him more controllable. It is unknown whether this either damaged his OS or threw his bio-electronic system out of whack. Whichever way, it led to a complete system malfunction and BoB's subsequent insanity. Vain to the point of sociopathic, BoB sees himself as the next step in evolution for both humans and computers, and a god created in man's image. He has no desires for world domination. Rather his dream is to eradicate both mankind and other artificial intelligences from the face of the earth.

Basically he suffers from some serious teen-angst. But I love him anyway, if just for his keen (read slutty) fashion sense. ^^

Now enough about BoB...I need to study for frickin' Physics. Harper seems to think I'll be fine on the final, but considering I haven't made even a B or above on any of these latest tests o.@...I wanna be good in Physics. Although I'm more looking forward to next year. Electronics! w00t! Mechanics are only fun in that it's like "Hey, now I understand where that energy's going. Yay." Next semester, we get to build stuff, and program stuff and pooch capacitors! Well, hopefully not the last part...

Oh, and hey, hey, I'm not complaining about any conversations pertaining to LotR. Most of the other people I can talk to about it are not slash-fans. But damn, rereading the books O_<. Sam <3 Frodo is canon...it's just a matter of what type of "<3" it is. When you get back, we're gonna have fuuuuuun ^___________^.

Gehh...senior scrapbook. Honestly, do they really think we have that much of a life? As John said, "Time to take pictures of my ceiling and talk about some life-changing events."

You locked the keys inside the Metal Gear?!

Hee ^^. Honestly, this is as funny as hell (assuming hell is pretty damn funny), probably even if you haven't played the games. Just thought I'd mention it, as I'm listening to it at the moment ^_^.

But anyway, I got fourth in epee...out of eight, which is just plain sad. During the semi-finals, I started fencing like a goddamned foilist! By the end of the first period, I was down 8 to 0. I managed to get 10 touches out of 15, by the end of the bout, but still! I should have corrected my mistakes before I was down zero to fucking eight. Grr...then when I was fencing for 3rd place, I couldn't even control the point. I'd lunge and completely miss. Grr some more....

I pisses me off when I fence horribly. Ultimately, I really don't care about winning. Yes, it's nice, but winning when fencing poorly is far worse than losing, but fencing well. So this time, I lost and fenced poorly. Owch...

On, a completely different topic, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is coming to San Antonio. I personally don't have the time or money to see them, but I do respect what they're trying to do. I love fusions of classic techniques with modern.

Speaking of which, someone needs to make a techno-remix of Rimsky-Korsakov's "Russian Easter." Not that it would be better than the maestro's work itself; it'd just be badass, and that song already has an amazing bass-line. Final Fantasy VI's "Dancing Mad" (the song played during the final fight), also needs a techno-remix. I'd do it myself except I have neither the skillz nor the time.

Oh, and since we're on music, Metallica needs to retire with whatever shreds of dignity they still have. Yet another new bass player? Why don't they get rid of the name "Metallica" and call it "Lars and whichever bums he can find on the street?" As both the bible and The Byrds say (not to imply in any way that The Byrds are God), there's a time and place for everything on earth. Metallica's time and place was somewhere between the birth of big hair in the 80s and the death of Napster. Why can't they just take their billions of dollars and retire to somewhere in the Mediterranean and not remain, stagnating, like a bad case of Mono?

Damn, I talk too much....But since everyone else is doing it...

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta...

Huh. That's odd; I don't even like rap...

My event ended early today o.@. I was home before 2 o'clock, which is just crazy. Last time, I got home around 6 pm, and there weren't that many more people.

Anyway, I got 2nd in the Junior Olympic qualifiers, for women under 20 foil, so I'm definitely going. In finals, I got creamed by my teammate, Melissa. Grrr...The thing is, I have no problem losing to her --she's damn good and fast as hell-- but last year, after Nationals, I made the goal of beating her. So far, I've fenced her three times in tournaments, and so far, the highest score I've gotten is 10 points out of 15.

I want to beat her, not because I have an inferiority complex or because I even want to be better than her. It's just, out of all the fencers at my level, she's the one I have the most respect for and winning against her would be a kind of post-marker to show I'm getting better...okay, so maybe it is an inferiority complex ^^.

But, on a completely different note, after I got home from the qualifiers, I hung out with Alli and Tomo (and Chris for a bit), and watched movies. I have a renewed love for "Office Space." I remembered it being funny, but I'd forgotten how utterly hilarious the whole movie was. "I don't like talking about my flares" XD. We also went to see "The Santa Claus II," which was about how I'd expected it to be, 'cept for the flaming elf who was just so....flaming XD~~. I was greatly amused.

Nwah...school needs to end now. I should probably get ready for the epee tomorrow, but first I wanna beat fucking Ramsus with his fucking water mech. Sonovabitch!

Can tongues physically do that?

Today was a good day...this is more due to my extremely short term memory, than to it actually being full of good events ^^. The highlight being, as per usual, Latin. Latin is something I can do without any real effort save keeping up with the vocab. It's almost relaxing, and the passages are interesting enough that it's really the most fun part of my homework ^^**. I'm sad, I know. But I'm still gonna share this interesting little bit of "The Aeneid." "sibila lambebant linguis vibrantibus ora," which translates to "They [the snakes] were licking their hissing mouths with vibrating tongues." I was the lucky one who got to read that out loud...John was giving me this very dirty grin, which got even dirtier when we were asked to draw pictures. -_-. Needless to say the comment "Dear God! How did you make those stick figures vaguely pornographic?!" sums up the rest of the class ^^. See why I love Latin?

Anyway, after school, Drasnor tutored me in Physics, so now I actually understand what the hell is going on *grins*. Besides, it's always nice to see people outside of school (and I'm not ignoring you!). And this week is pretty damn busy. I have a fencing tournament on Saturday and Sunday, so not much free time then _o_. Sunday'll be my first official epee tournament, so I'm kinda nervous. Not to mention I've only made it to practice on Tuesday, and that session was spent mostly repairing my weapons *does a jig of nervousness*.

Bwahaha...I never talk about E-bay items I'm bidding on until the auction is over (I'm superstitious that way), so this is what I wanted to talk about but couldn't. Heh. One's by Touru Azumi and the other's by a circle I've seen around and have wanted, but never could find *grins*. Oh, have I mentioned I've got an unexplainable, mostly unfounded Kakanaru bias? *grins more*

The money for the doujinshi was going to be for manga, but I've been cruising E-bay for just this sort of thing, so I don't feel that guilty. Anyway, I'm going to go to bed now...just wanted to share the love. Oh, and all you people I go to school with...you're going to be hearing more of this ^_^.

Fwah

Hmm...I've decided to randomly post pictures here as the mood strikes me. This'll be doodles/stuff from my notes or whatever tickles my fancy, and (probably) won't make it to even my rakugaki page. So here's a piccy of Chibi-Naruto, since he's such a cute kid in the flashbacks XD. I had the ending theme of Naruto stuck in my head all through Calculus. It's a good song --strange at first, but ultimately really cool. ^^

In other news, we had this "lock down" drill in school today, where the PA annoucer says "code red" and we're expected to hide under our desks as the teacher locks the door, in case of an armed person in the halls. I found it more amusing than annoying. It's odd to think that the authority figures at our school realize there's so much dissatisfaction with the system and highschool itself, but instead of trying to reform it and nip the problem at the bud, they instill shaky counter-measures that probably won't work in the end anyway. Then again, they did have that assembly presentation about why we should bomb Iraq why we should form common bonds with one another. I realize it's hard for a school to control the behavior of its population. That's why I'm not asking much; I just want to leave ^_^. And now I really want to see "Bowling for Columbine."

Lalala...on a complete tangent, I have something I want to post, but I'm afraid it'll jinx my luck, so I'll say it later...oh, and One Piece is frickin' awesome ^^. Sure, I've only read the first issue, but damn! I want more! Luffy's bloody cute, and Shanks is badass XD. Now I must go and do physics and Latin and learn how to do all of chapter 5 in my Calc book so that I can pass the test tomorrow XD.

Raise your hand if you've got senioritis!

Square: Yanno, I really liked the latest Final Fantasy game. That's because the graphics were amazing, the battle system "revolutionary" and because I have no taste...Oh, and the Roman numeral "X" looks cool. Let's make a sequel!
Voice of Reason: Doesn't the "Final" in "Final Fantasy" make it kind of hard to have a direct sequel?
Square: Shut up! What would you know? I can do whatever I want because I have a large fan base, and now, if you disagree with me, Disney will hunt you down and steal your soul like the worthless pond scum you are.
Voice of Reason: But....
Square: Quiet! I'm feeling inspired by the porn I store on my hard drive! In FFX-2, why don't we have Yuna get a tattoo and some guns and lose her pants, sending her on a quest with her cousin Rikku who recently became a crack-whore to find them...and Tidus...and some other shit can happen too.
Voice of Reason: ....I'm so going to Namco....

Back again...

Mwha. I hung out at Wedge's for a quasi-DDR party (I don't play DDR, and I have no intention of starting, but it's still fun to see people) and we watched various movies..."StarTrek: First Contact" and "Zoolander." I was explaining Naruto to Tomo and Abe (Ricky and Alli were kinda listening in too) during the former and was only quasi-amused with the latter. "Eugogoly" is still damn funny, though XD. And I do have a sudden urge to see "Nemesis" when it comes to theatres...worship the almighty power of the media.

But yes...I'm gaining converts to Naruto! And I can't wait for episode 9 to get translated. Kakashi's a badass!! *spazzes*. Oh, and since I've been bitching at everyone in real life, I might as well do it here. If you have any interest in shounen manga, subscribe to Viz's Shounen Jump. It's extremely reasonably priced, and has some badass manga (Naruto, Shaman King, One Piece etc). And maybe if it's popular enough, they can do it on a weekly basis *o*. So yeah, I have selfish motives ^^.

I think I had more to say, but I forgot, and now I need to stop putting it off and finish my Calc and Physics _o_. Damn thy logs to hell! Screw you, bloody COL! *sobs* My only consolation is that in 18 days, I'm going to see Helm's Deep on the big screen in surround sound. *cackles maniacally*

Okay, here we go ^^. Yes, I as well can jump on the fad-wagon and get an online journal. Anyway, there are notes on the "Brimstone" layout, but, for the record (if it isn't obvious), the name "On a plain" comes from the same-titled Nirvana song.

And that about covers it. Be warned that I'm gonna put whatever crap I feel like ranting about up here. Whether it's book, gaming or philosophy oriented, it'll probably find it's way here (assuming I'm not ass lazy and update regularly -_-). Oh, and I'm going to make a quasi-promise to not use this as a way to gossip about my friends or tell them things/try to get attention without going through the trouble of actually mentioning it in a conversation...unless it's to mention someone or something in an anecdotal way, and in that case, everything's fair game ^^.
