| I thought I was someone else, someone good
I made samosas today...or rather I tried to make samosas. They were big and malformed and don't really even taste like samosas, but they're not bad. Still, I'm calling them sarosas so that innocent bystanders won't be confused ^^. That and I'm reading Ender's Shadow, and at about three-fourths of the way through, I can already tell by the end, I'm gonna be bawling like a baby. If just because it's Orson Scott Card. And Ender ;.;. Ender's one of my all time favorite literary characters, and I just want to bundle him up in a warm blanket and get him some hot chocolate. Mah poor boy >_>.

I bloody well enjoyed Seabiscuit and I'm going to go non-violent on the first person to give me a weird look. Meaning I'll cry, so just don't ^^.

*laughs* Yes, it is, in fact, markers. Damn...I owe my undying devotion to a lot of people. Would you like paper or plastic? But still, you people are silly. I got more responses to that one thang than...like...all my other pita entries combined ^_^. At least now I know how to get attention. Hey...guess what I have in my pocket, precious precious ^_~. Anyway, I updated Blue Waters and there's some extra goodies (well I think they're good ^^**) outside of the usual bloggy stuff. I have plans for BW...such as a new layout, better organization and lots of other super-coolness, but, knowing me, it'll be a while before they see the light of day _o_.

| They don't make movies like they used to
You know...with coherent plot, and all those minor technicalities. Anyway, just thought I'd mention that Triple Strike has been updated. You may notice that issue 6 shows a lot more scenery than I normally bother putting in. Hopefully I can keep up the trend, since it is a step in the right direction, but do try to appreciate it, as it's the main source of my madness and gothic poetry. The trees...they burn.
Yeesh. I can hear my English teachers from ages past calling for my blood. Anyway, I'm also posting a picture of Jack Sparrow, which I wasn't planning on mentioning till my next update, but ask and ye shall receive. My undying devotion to the first person who guesses which medium it's in ^_~.

Well today was interesting >_>. Geh. Anyway, I have to go back to Fry's on Tuesday because they gave me incompatible software again. Obviously, it's partially my fault for not checking, but I had faith that since the man worked at Fry's, he must know what he's doing. I won't be that naive next time >_>. Anyway, I kinda sorta have a new four panel comic thing called "My Inner Cynic," but I'll only do it sporadically when I feel like it/have a funny (by my standards ^^) idea. So yeah, go blatant egotism ^^.

| Been a long lonely time
Geh, it's been a while, no? *glomps Ricky* Yer the coolest ^o^. Woo! Now I have someone I can live vicariously through ^^. Anyway, I don't feel like writing down the things I've done (or not done). Instead, I'm going to talk art...more specifically comics. It's probably something as simple as I'm just a closet masochist, but I can't explain why I do comics. Why I like making comics. Because they're painful. Incredibly so. Especially when every panel seems horrible and ill-conceived and I would rather beat my head on a board filled with rusty nails that make one. more. fucking. line with God-forsaken pens that FUCKING LEAK. But then, when it's all over, the pens put away, the images compressed, and I try to look at my work detachedly to check for coherency and what-not...it's like...wow. I did this. I created this. And that misdrawn line isn't so noticeable there and this perspective isn't so off here and I did this. It's like taking a piece of myself and sharing it with others. It feels really really good. Somewhere between petting fuzzy kittens and drugs. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that even if I say I can't stand drawing and art and want it to go the fuck away, I probably do mean it, but that doesn't mean I want to stop. If it were painless and easy, it wouldn't be an accomplishment. Because whether or not my art is good, I've drawn over 300 pages of comic. This makes me feel....satisfied for reasons I cannot explain or justify. And on that note, after finishing Madness Season, which is a tremendously excellent book by C.S Friedman (think Ender's Game universe with Slavic mythology and Neon Genesis Evangelion style issues and angst thrown in for the ride), I had to draw this. <3 Markers ^^. Right, before I forget, check out VGCats, which is a funny as hell online comic, especially if you're into games or furries or both. And Gabe and Tycho make guest appearances...kinda XD.

If I seem kind of out-of-it, or tired, or broody, it is for one of the following reasons. The bed-sore on my grandma's heel may now be infected and her kidneys are barely working. My brother just received a creditor's notice saying he owes 7,000 to the College of William and Mary (plus creditor's fees), because he had been under the (apparently mistaken) impression that living in Virginia for two years (while supporting himself without outside assistance from parents) makes him a resident, so he only paid in-state tuition. My dog has fluid in her lungs. My cousin was just arrested for something she more than likely didn't do, but because she doesn't have money, she can't afford an attorney, and my aunt and uncle had to drive almost 500 miles to pick up her kids from daycare. I'm not trying to bitch or to paw for attention, but I figured it might help my state of mind to "talk" about it, and this way, at least, no one can claim I'm an anti-social introvert with extreme issues when it comes to interpersonal relationships. Or I guess you could...that's really your own business. In good news, I baked brownies for one of my fencing teachers' birthday. I like cooking ^^.

d00d, Giles is the best ^o^. He was the sole reason I had any interest at all in season...er...well, basically the last two seasons of Buffy. Spike was cool to start with, but then started to mope like a 13 year old girl, and Oz...well...went away very early on...oh yeah...and Willow became a bitch. Bitch bitch bitch. But I digress... Anyway, Giles needs far more love than he gets, so you get a <3 ^_~.

| Damn hippies
For those of you who don't know, my parents generously bought me an iMac a few days ago. It's name is "Muninn," after Odin's raven, Memory, but the name is, of course, a misnomer, as it's more RAM than RAVEN. da-dum-dum. Owch, couldn't resist ^^. I need to install emacs and Gimp badly, as well as get a three button mouse, but besides that, I'm quite content. And, it's really true about Macs. Even now, the computer calls, bidding me to use hallucinogenic drugs and watch the spinning of colored bits of string tied to a ceiling fan. o.@ Damn you, Mac!

| You can't always get what you want
Ah, kinda late on the whole selfishness argument, but it gives me an excuse to quote the (abridged) conversation between Fei and Elly from Xenogears, which is still one of my all time favorite video game moments ^^. Fei: Probably deep inside, I'm not really trying to help. Somehow, I get the feeling that all I've done I did because I wanted to be needed. That if I did something for them... then maybe, I'd have a place to belong...It might not be 'nothing', but it sure isn't the 'whole' either. Elly: It's okay...I could've just gone back. But for some reason I didn't... Probably because you said it's better to do something than nothing...It's OK not to feel 'whole'. Even if you only feel partly complete, if you repeat that enough, eventually it'll be 'whole'. A part... is better than zero. *squeaks* I lovelovelovelovelove Elly XD. And Fei and Elly are just so...kyaaaa~~ *drifts on cloud of fangirl bliss* Anyway! The point is that motivation is important, but you have to start somewhere, even if that starting point is selfish in motivation. No one gets it right the first time, but as long as you strive to perfection, you're on the right path..I think I was a Buddhist in a previous life o.@. As to the whole "sex and marriage" discussion...fuwah...I don't want to step on anybody's toes, so I'd prefer debating that face to face rather than hiding behind a curtain of words. I'll just say that, to me, marriage is a good thing. It encourages people to take the choices they'll be making seriously, and also take responsibility...at least in theory ^^. Oh, and Lyssie, love the new layout ^^. There is no such thing as too much Schala XD.

| I have a life, but only in my head
I realize I've been rather lazy when it comes to blogging my "life" events. Unfortunately, I'm going to continue this trend, because it would be far too much effort to do otherwise. First, I want to say to you...well...how about just "hell yeah" to cover everything? ^_~. And also, I enjoyed the "Wheel of Time" books immensely, but they're still coming out, Jordan is as slow as hell in writing, and they're thick, heavy and very complex. But if you do read 'em, lemme know so we can talk. You may even inspire me enough to go pick up the latest book ^^. Okay, and now it's time for Sharky's Bitchfest. Fourth Quarter 2003?. *Begins to giggle quietly and hysterically* I'm not sure whether RPGamer is publishing this shit because they know no one will believe them, or if they just enjoy putting blatant lies on the Internet...then again, IGN seems to think it'll come out in 2004, so who knows? That poster is damn pritty though...but I can't tell if it's real...doubt it >_>. And this makes me want to gnaw on something. The "anime" style of the first game was very nice, but these new graphics are exquisite, delectable and any number of other contextually obscene adjectives that would make Freud wet himself. Mmmm...the Solaris-esque uniforms *drools*...the mech designs *drools*... Although it makes me sad to see Yasunori Mitsuda isn't involved...it doesn't seem right that there's a Xenogears game without Mitsuda's wonderful melodies. But then again, Yuki Kajiura has some amazing stuff as well. Same haunting melodies combined with a Celtic-y feel, but still...bleargh...you people must think my life is incredibly sad based on what I talk about in my blog.

| The summer is here
I can't believe I forgot to play this song the last day of school o.@. Oh well, better late than never >_<. Anyway! Yesterday and this morning, were good. For the record, I am going to miss all of you guys when I head up to Boston. I would get all saccharine mushy-gushy, but I find it easier to simply express myself in the language of luuuv. j00 4ll = t3h 1337 h4x0rz 4nd r0x0r my b0x0rz. And you know what else r0x0rz my b0x0rz? Guilty Gear X. And Chipp. Mostly Chipp. Now that I can actually kinda sorta do combos/moves, he's so insanely fun to play. I haven't had this much fun with a fighter character since...er...Orchid from KI, and she's cheap as hell, so that doesn't count. Kyaa~~~ I want GGXX so badly now, and it ain't gonna happen until possibly August, if I don't buy Soul Caliber 2 >_>. Waaaahh...Chipp or Siegfried...so many men, so little time.

| On a cobweb afternoon, in a room full of emptiness...
I've been messing around with dvd ripping, and if anyone has any suggestions or comments, I'd be more than happy to hear them ^^. I'm using "mencoder" and doing two passes, since my compy doesn't like saving the audio encoding separately ;P. Anyway, not much to talk about, except my eye appointment, which reminded me why I'd never get contacts (to my credit, I didn't hyperventilate the second time the drops were put in!), so here's art. First is a picture of Samurai Jack, hastily done in a style I've never tried before. From yesterday, is Osiris, which I'm quite proud of --especially his hand. I still need to finish up the background, but otherwise...is it just me, or does he look like an undead Kurt Cobain? On that same note, here's my new online persona, Gothic-Sharky. If my theory is correct, then my art should now be getting exponentially better...stop staring at me...I swear I'll come after you with a spork *glares menacingly*. | ...can't think of creative title...
Two days ago, I stayed up...er...I think it ended up being 41 hours. I didn't do anything earth-shatteringly important, but I thought I'd mention it, because the full moon-scape at sunrise was so incredibly gorgeous. It was the kind of beauty that makes your stomach twist in pain, as the realization dawns that in perhaps ten minutes, it will be gone forever, and there is no way to preserve it. Pictures don't capture the feel of the wind, or the sound of birds. They don't do justice to that subtle shade of green that changes ever so slightly as the light spreads across the horizon, or how the blue turns to purple turns to yellow, which then goes back to blue. It was one of those life-affirming moments, where one realizes that the world is an amazingly beautiful place, and feels, simultaneously, effusing hope and love and underlying, inexplicable sadness. As I said, so beautiful it hurt. Okay, now I'm tired of being sentimental, and will cease my attempts at flowery writing for your sake and mine. In other news, I got new shoes. Rather, a new pair of the same brand I had before (converses). I was going to get shoes not made by little girls in sweatshops being paid 3 cents a week, but I have no tolerance for shoe shopping. It makes me angry and bitter and want to throw a temper-tantrum like a five year old. So my mom eventually forced me to tell her what size I wear, so we could buy them and leave. Oh, and someone tell me. Is my computer fucked, or is hanashika.com down? In either case, I can't post art, which makes me vaguely sad. I think I'm starting to become relatively comfortable with a CGing style I enjoy. And I'm improving! There is hope, yet! Although I still have an excuse to break down and cry ;_;. Yanno...if I seriously thought, for one moment, that drawing gothic/creepy subject matter would give me the ability to draw like that, I wouldn't hesitate an instant. This is where I would show you my attempt of a gothic self-portrait, but I can't access the hanashika ftp server, so it'll have to wait for another day ;P.

| Avast, mateys!
I'm back. Although, now that I think about it, most of y'all probably didn't have any way of knowing I was gone in the first place o.@. So basically, I went to the SciFi Expo in Dallas with Ginny, Yo-tan and Wedge, which was much fun ^o^. There we met Ginny's friend, Aya, who was an absolute blast to talk to XD. We got to see the Matrix twins, both Boba Fetts and that dude from the Kung-Fu television series in the question and answer panels. The guy who does PvP was there selling his stuff, and I had a brief fangirl moment where I rambled incessantly about how cool he was...which makes me wonder what would happen if I met the dudes from P-A _o_. On the buying front, I bought lots o' comics, mostly from new, up and coming comic artists (I'll probably get back into this later), because I'm all about supporting up and coming artists ^^;;;. Also I picked up a variety for sampling (The Maxx, Swamp Thing, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hellboy and, of course, a few X-Men). Wedge and I got a set of action figures...Alien vs. Predator...you can guess who kept what ^_~. My boy is named "Seymour," for your information, and he'll be joining Nightcrawler and Corin-chan on my desk as soon as I stop cuddling him ^^****. Oh right. I want to comment on "Pirates of the Caribbean" before I forget ^^. Damn good movie. Damn good! The action was fanciful and fun, the acting superb (no, seriously!) and it was silly in all the right places with the right number of pirate jokes (arrr, mateys!). Basically a fun-all-around action flick with *gasp* a decent plot! And Johnny Depp...first off, only he could make matted hair and gold-capped teeth look sexy, and damn. You have to see his performance. Words cannot capture how wonderfully he brought his character to life. Trust me; iz guuud XD.

| The bag the bag the bag the bag....
Some relatives stopped in for lunch on their road trip from Kansas down to San Antonio and back. I was expected to entertain their two sons, which wasn't so bad, because as soon as I showed them my iguana, they lost all traces of shyness and practically tripped over themselves to tell me various stories, mostly animal related. It was rather cute, and I didn't even have to bust out my SNES and copy of Street Fighter ^^***. And then I saw "Run Lola Run," which is a badass movie. It's so completely my type of movie, even though I really can't say what my type of movie is...I guess it includes dark humor, surrealism, excellent music and a plot that is not completely brain-dead. We may not always agree on music, but you have very good taste in movies ^_~. Anyway, I got doujinshi! All game, I got a FFX one I've had my eye on for a while now, a MGS2 one by a doujinshi-ka I greatly admire, and a Xenosaga one I got partially for the novelty of it not being hentai, although the art is very gorgeous (even if the artist does do hentai in some of his other doujinshi XD). Ah well...we can't have everything, no? Moving on, I drew Ascended!Daniel, because I have to admit, I'm quite fond of his dorky sweater ensemble ^^. I told you he's my boy ;P.

| This is why I don't drive
The frame of my glasses broke, and, donning a pair of an older prescription, I was planning to use it as an excuse to solder to my heart's content. However, my mom wasn't exactly thrilled with my plan and wanted to drive to the mall to get them fixed. The point of the story is this. We were driving down 360 and my mom was about to shift into I think fourth gear. The car makes the sound of it accelerating only higher pitch and with this rattling noise (vaguely like if she hadn't depressed the clutch all the way or shifted into a wrong gear). It also sounded like something was loose. We turn around to head home, and it keeps doing it in third gear, around 2500 rpm, but as we go through the neighborhood, the car seems fine in all gears (three and lower) and is purring contentedly at 3000 rpm. My mom is pretty sure the transmission is fine and that it has something to do with either the axel or muffler. I'm curious what the car buffs in the group think. I wish I could give a better description, but it's hard to explain why the noises sound wrong, save saying they do >_>. Ah well...tonight I'm going to this quasi-party Mrs. Reese is throwing, and I'm hoping to see Aaron and possibly Dras and Amanda. I haven't seen them in forever ;.;. Amanda is very elusive over the summer and while Dras' camp is going to end soon, I do wanna hang out before he goes off to college and/or is dragged away by some government agency o.o;;;.

I have to say, I like the fifth Harry Potter book best of all of them, with the first right behind it. There are so many really cool characters that are allowed to shine through. There are my old favorites like the Weasley twins and Snape, to characters like Hermione, who I liked in previous books, but now are in "Sharky's Official List Of Badasses ©." So yeah. I cheered for everyone...especially Mcgonagall ^o^. Damn. I thought I had more to talk about than Harry Potter, but I guess not ^^. Ah well. At least I'm posting, right?

| Yes, I'm a lazy bum
Wahh...a lot has happened in the last few days. It makes me tired just thinking about trying to summarize everything >_>. So I won't. However, I will say it's been great fun, despite the occasional WB-rip off teen dramas that crop up every now and then ^^. I love you guys. You know that, right? XD Today, I baked a bunny cake for my grandma's 90th birthday ^^. She was really happy about it, which, in turn, made me feel good, so it's all rather nice ^^. All in all, my day has been rather laid back. I bake. I doodle. I fiddle. I look at the long list of things I need to do and actively avoid them. Good times ^^. There's some art. My latest "project," if it deserves to be called that, is learning to use my bitchin' copic markers semi-decently. Here's a monochrome of the heads of Snake and Raiden. Snake turned out a little better, but that's hardly surprising, all things considered ^^;;. And, there's another Daniel from SG-1. Also, I tried to get a feel for how I like to draw Lupin from Harry Potter. He looks a little youngish, but whatever. That's the great thing about doing fanart from a book XD. You can't say I'm wrong, no matter how awful it is ^o^.

Ah....Thank you!!! *glomp* To commemorate the release of T3, here's a new layout...why T3 and not Matrix or X-Men? Because this gave me an excuse to use Bender, my all time favorite robot, in a layout XD. So there. Anyway, today was the last day of Nationals for me. I did rather poorly at 3 wins, 3 loses in pools and losing my first DE (I honestly can't remember the last time that happened to me XD). But, truthfully, I didn't really care. Foil I could practically fence in my sleep. Epee requires a lot of concentration and patience on my part, which makes it less fun than foil. I didn't have the concentration or patience, so it was not good times ^^. At least it's over, and I'm glad for the break, although I'll probably end up coming into the club every now and then just for socializing XD. There. Now that's out of the way, I'd like to mention that Cartoon Network is showing Cyborg 009. I've only seen half an episode, and the voices weren't bad, precisely, just kinda unexpected ^^. They did keep the closing theme which is rather fun and catchy, and I hope they kept the opening because it's a great techno-y piece complete with random Engrish. w007! Also, I'm going on a major Stargate kick ^^. Apparently Michael Shanks is going to be a full time cast member in season 7, which makes me very happy, you have no idea XD. See, while the whole cast is awesome and lovable, Daniel's mah boy ^o^. He's so adorable and geeky and drawl and puppy-eyed, I just want to huggle him. And he's hot. Mrow...=9. So here's the requisite fanart. Yeah, you saw it coming ^^. Hmm...I think I had more to talk about, but I can't think of anything at the moment. Ah well, it'll come to me eventually.
