had hoped to get here earlier this week to put an entry in, when I had time, but the server was down, or the connection just wasn't happening.. now I don't have the time to elaborate... i've upgraded my home computer to a new Dell 600 MHz dealy, with DVD player.. that was 3 weeks ago.. but the modem didn't work out of the box, and after tech support on the phone, and on site in person, they weren't able to fix it, so I upgraded to a name brand internal modem, which came in less than 3 days, and it worked out-of-the-box after installation. it makes a big difference to be connected.. this weekend I'm going away with the wife to an undisclosed location to celebrate our 5th anniversary.. we've made it this far, and we'll continue the journey!

web: Cradle of Christianity
Right in the heart of Israel, at the Israel Museum, they're showing an exhibit called the
Cradle of Christianity, where artifacts are on display showing historical aspects of how Christianity started. Heard about this on NPR, and it is intriguing..

I've been in California for most of the past week, have enjoyed a relaxing time in a very mild climate, hittin' the beach several times (and getting my shin scraped a little due to my initial clumsiness), and seeing my son Jeremiah ecstatically enjoying the tide rolling over his little toes(!).. we also enjoyed
Jamba Juice several times, and over the weekend, ventured down to San Diego to soak in the sight there, and spent yesterday at the world famous
San Diego Zoo (yes, we saw the baby panda Hua Mei, and got lots of pictures of the polar bears). It has been a good week to rest, and to cruise around in a Jeep Cherokee rental.. and I also drove cross-town to UCLA, hoping to find a friend there, and to have my hopes dashed when I found out they were on spring break.. but it was a nice campus, and I treated myself to a smoothie. God has been most gracious-- breakthroughs often seem to be preceeded by excruciating pain and struggle.. our home church is in the tail edge of a transition, changing from founding pastor to the next, changing worship space and office space, changing from pastor led to elder led.. these are certainly exciting times.. and the adventures continue.

there is so much happening all around now.. just have to stay strong in faith even tho' i don't feel like it right now.. being drained and brain turned to mush, i still have to press on and persevere.. i don't like not having the heartfelt nurture i want to have to get back to "normal", but i don't seem to have many choices.. i'm still going on with a full-plate of 2 part-time jobs, family life, ministry life, and preparing for a mission trip half way around the world in mid-May.. and as you can see from the timestamp, I'm up in the middle of an unreal hour.. have been up a while, playing chess online (click link above), if you're a chess player, email me, maybe we can play some time.. comin' off a weekend that shut me down (or it can be said, i chose to shut down), and now playing chess, it seems unfair that i still have to go strong regardless of how i feel.. the saying goes that the best defense is a strong offense.. and tho' i don't like that saying, that seems to be the challenge of faith for me.

by a gracious turn of events, God has been miraculously and powerfully in my church, and in some of my key relationships.. recently I read a quote that really resonated with my soul: Life in Christ is all about relationships, with God, with each other, and with myself. With the latest things going on, life's adventures continue.. my church was featured in a
Washington Post article, and God is providing various ways of confirmation as we hit a time of transition this month.. and if you were here, you can see for yourself what else is happening.
