W00t! The Land of Given is back up. Sadly landofgiven.com was never released even though everything says that the ownership of it has expired. (Damn NameZero for stealing my domain name). So now it's landofgiven.net. And since both squirrelman.com and squirrelman.net are both taken (again NameZero and the stealing) Squirrelman is just going to be hosted at landofgiven.net/Squirrelman.

Ok so last night my friends and I did our present exchange since Joseph finally got back yesterday. OMG my friends are the coolest ever. They all got together and bought me a lightsaber. Darth Vader's non-the-less. It's one of those cool ones that's replica realistic and lights up and makes lightsaber noises when you swing it and hit things with it. It's the greatest thing ever. So big GLOMP to Joseph, Jen, Katie, Joe, and Sam, I love you all. Sam I'll bring your present by your work when school starts. I think that'll be the easiest way to get it to you. Sadly the lightsaber didn't work last night but we aren't sure if it was the batteries or if something happened during shipping. So we're going to try new batteries later today and hope that it works. If not I'll have to wait a few weeks to play with it but I think the wait is worth it.

Ok so for a place that isn't supposed to get a whole lot of snow, it's sure snowing a lot. This is the third day this winter that it's snowed and stuck. The first time (in November) it snowed for 2 hours and there was only a light dusting on the ground. The second time (just a few days ago) there was probably an inch to an inch and a half on the ground. Much to my surprise when I woke up in the morning. It actually stayed around all day too, and managed to melt and freeze just enough to turn all of Eugene into a big spot of black ice. That was a whole lot of fun. Just walking to Safeway a block away was an adventure in slippage. So this morning I get up and look out the window and there's not one, not two, but at least three inches of snow on the ground. That was an interesting adventure to Safeway too. Oh well, at least I'm nice and cozy inside now and I can enjoy the snow from my window. Not that I don't like snow, I love snow, I'm just not built for it. At least not this kind of snow. Skiing I can do just fine, but the daily walking on snow covered sidewalks I'm just not used to. That and I don't really have any good shoes for walking in snow. It's also kinda sad cuz I don't have any friends to play in the snow with at the moment. Their either at work, not in this country, or on their way to Portland. Or they haven't come back from break yet. One of those options. Such is life.

Due to the holidays I haven't blogged in a while so I'm going to blog now. Had a good Chirstmas with my family. It was nice a low key, just the way I like it. I dragged my friend Jen along too so she was unfortunate enough . . . er . . . fortunate enough to meet my family. Or at least part of it. Anyways it was good. Finally got some of those things that I've been needing for my apartment. I also splurged on myself with my Christmas/Birthday Money and picked myself up a DVD burner for my computer. I needed a new CD-rom anyways and I figure while I'm at it I may as well get a DVD-rom too, heck, why not just get a DVD-RW? So that's what I did. I picked up FFX-2 as well. Yeah it's different and I know people who don't like it but hey, I don't really care as long as I enjoy it who cares right? Besides FF6 will always hold the place in my heart as best RPG ever and will remain there probably forever. Anyways I'm going to shut down my computer now and install my new DVD-RW and the new graphics card too. (Did I mention that I've been playing Knights of the Old Republic on my computer a lot?) So yeah that's about it.

Quick response that I forgot. Wow Meg that looks awfully pink to me. Well pink and purple, maybe extremely light purple, and purple, I don't know. It's a nice combination, but honestly it hurts my eyes. Then again it doesn't take much to hurt my eyes after I've been staring at a computer screen all day. That and it's your LJ, you can do whatever you want with it.

Bleh, it's interesting how unentertaining your computer can be when you don't have the internet. Ok so I'm not completely without internet, but it's sooooooooo slow. I'm using dial-up thats running at 28.8k right now. Man this sucks.

Saw LOTR:ROTK early, early this morning, like 12:01am this morning. Went in costume none-the-less. Damn that was cool. The ending, while being a little longer than most people would have liked was also kinda nice at the same time. Kinda relates back to the books a little more. I was happy with what they cut out and what they kept in this one. Granted it was a little strange to have part of the second book take up a lot of the third movie, but that's besides the point.

Moving on, I'm very happy right now because I just saw my grades and I actually passed all my classes, even Enclosures. Considering the hellish term I just finished I'm both surprised and astonished. I didn't think it would happen but I must have gotten a good grade on the final or something. Go me!

Well that's enough of that. Been playing KotOR too much lately. Spending all day in front of my computer being evil and gaining darkside points while the lightside jedi with me goes "You shouldn't do that" and then doesn't stop me. Even when I lied to the Jedi Counsil about killing a bunch of people (she witnessed it too) she said nothing. It's kinda funny that way. I'm also amused by the fact that on your character portrait when your good the background is blue and you take an angelic stance, while when your evil (me) the background is red and you take an aggressive stance. The color changes over time too, it starts greyish and slowly changes to one color or the other. It's a really fun game. I'm surprised. There are a lot of sidequests too that you can do, which is nice. And you can be either sickeningly sweet, or totally mean and evil. Usually you have either option when taking on a sidequest.

I think that's all I have to say for the moment. Hope everyone out there is enjoying their vacation.

Mmmm . . . the joys of dial-up. God I hate this, slow connections suck. Anyways for those of you who care I have made it back to Stockton alive and well. Oooooo Ahhhhhh . . . so exciting I know. Not a whole lot going on here, played some Feng Shui and Mario Kart: Double Dash yesterday. That was fun. I now have Knights of the Old Republic too that I can play. Apparently it takes up 3GB of hard drive space though (eww). Good thing I have enough free.

On a sadder note, my kitty isn't doing so well. Apparently she's sick and actually died once at the vet. Fortunately he managed to bring her back and she's doing ok right now, but she's really skinny and not really eating. I'm saddened by this ;_; granted she's 15.5 years old now, which is old for a cat, but it's still sad to see her like this. I'm just glad she's still around right now. Makes me happy.

Ok enough of that. Well there isn't much else going on so I'll leave it at that and get off this crappy connection. It makes me cry.

Yay done with finals. Now I just have to work until 5 today and I'm good to go. Hopefully tonight I get to see The Last Samurai with my friends. If not I shall be sad. Come to think of it I should probably check movie times for tonight so that I know when I'll be going. Since I do have one little thing I must take care of. Namely complaining agaist the asshole cop who pulled me over for not wearing a seatbelt when I was in fact, wearing one. Shitty Eugene police. Anyways lets not think about that, lets think happy thoughts like, I'm done! Doneness is a good thing. However I forgot to bring a book with me to work today and it doesn't seem to be as busy as it was yesterday. Oh well.

Taken from The All Benevolent Dictator because I haven't honored his prescence lately.

Which Historical Lunatic Are You?
From the fecund loins of Rum and Monkey.

You are Gaius Caesar Germanicus - better known as Caligula!

Third Emperor of Rome and ruler of one of the most powerful empires of all time, your common name means "little boots". Although you only reigned for four years, brief even by Roman standards, you still managed to garner a reputation as a cruel, extravagant and downright insane despot. Your father died in suspicious circumstances, you were not the intended heir, and one of your first acts as Emperor was to force the suicide of your father-in-law. Your sister Drusilla died that same year; faced with allegations that your relationship with her had been incestuous, you responded, bafflingly, by declaring her a god.

You revived a number of unpopular traditions, including auctions of properties left over from public shows. When a senator fell asleep at one such auction, you took each of his nods as bids, selling him 13 gladiators for a vast sum. You attempted to have your horse, Incitatus, made into a consul and hence one of the most powerful figures in Rome. It was granted a marble stable with jewels and a staff of servants. At one point you forced your comrade Macro to kill himself - in much the same vein as your father-in-law - accusing him of being his wife's pimp. You, of course, were having an affair with said wife at the time.

Things went from bad to worse. When supplies of condemned men ran short in the circus, you had innocent spectators dragged into the arena with the lions to fill their place. You claimed mastery of the sea by walking across a three-mile bridge of boats in the Bay of Naples; kissed the necks of your lovers, whispering sweet nothings like "This lovely neck will be chopped as soon as I say so,"; dallied with your sister's lover and made her pull her unborn child out of her womb prematurely. Towards the end of your reign, you had a golden statue of yourself made and dressed each day in the same clothes you yourself wore. When you eventually died, the terrified people of Rome refused to believe that such a cruel reign could ever end, and believed you to be alive for years afterwards.

Some amusing humorscopes for the day. Especially this first one:

Virgo
Good day to ponder the parable of the itsy bitsy spider, and the futility of climbing up water spouts during spring weather. You'll be able to apply this lesson to one of your current relationships.

Sagittarious
Time heals all wounds, yes. But that's not really intended to mean that you should tie Time magazine around your sprained ankle. It's a figure of speech, you see, not meant to be taken literally. I have heard, however, that Newsweek is good for gout.

Capricorn
It's time to stop beating around the bush. Move on to beating around the ornamental shrubbery.

Pisces
Your popularity is on the rise, at last. People think of you as warm and fuzzy, and have a secret desire to hug you. Don't let them see you during a full moon, however.

Wow it's so weird to be almost done with this hellish term. The sucky thing is I have very few finals and I don't really need to study for them much so here I am with not much to do and all my friends busy with studying for finals. Such is the life when studio is happening. Next term will be easy and I'll be able to work more so I can get some more money. Money is good, especialy since iTunes broke my crappy cd-rw that came with my formerly Dell computer. Apparently because it's a Dell cd-rom drive it has extra frimware that I can't find a fix for unless I want to take the damn thing out of my computer and look at the serial number and search for it. I wanted a dvd-rom anyways so this is just a good excuse. Damn Apple for breaking my Windows machine, and damn Microsoft for trying to rule the world. How do you pick the lesser of two evils when they're both equal in evilness? Although I guess the fact that I can't stand the apple operating system kinda helps me choose. But soon, very soon at least one of my computers will give me a third option, bwahahahahaha. *ehrm* You saw nothing. Nothing I tell you.

Damn what kind of mood am I in right now? I can't even figure it out. I just got done with playing SWG and now I'm just doing random stuff until Jen and Joseph call. Granted it's midnight, but I'm not even tired. I've developed this complex where I take a nap from 5 to 7ish simply because I'm bored and can't entertain myself well enough. So tiredness (which is what usually causes this) is not a factor.

So I picked up The Soddit today by A.R.R.R. Roberts. I was trying to find Bored of the Rings but I couldn't. The bookstore supposidly had it but after searching the 3 possible locations it could have been in I couldn't find it. Murray couldn't find it either and he works there, nor could the other random guy that works there. Oh well. At least I have a Hobbit parody to read in the meantime. It'll give me lots to read when I'm down in Stockton since I still have to finish The Ligh Fantastic and Call of Cthulhu and Vector Prime. *sigh* too many books to read and not enough motivation.

Ok I should probably end this now since I've been babbling for a while now. This is a rather long post and if I make it too long then people won't read the other post I made not too long ago proclaiming that I, infact, do, read Meg's blog. Ok, there it is, I admit it, I'm a blog reader. *sob* now you all know my not-so-deep, not-so-dark, not-so-secret secret.

Wow I really am in a weird mood today. Or at least right now. Ok, I should end this, really, I should.

LOL, my humorscope for the day:
Due to your supreme skill at an obscure video game, you will be abducted by aliens, and asked to save their race from anihilation at the hands (roughly speaking) of evil creatures from between the stars.
I wonder which obscure video game it'll be?

Thanks to Meg I now have an interesting book called "Would you rather...?" It's kinda funny so I think that I might share some of it with you.

Would you rather...
be able to communicate with the dead, but have to converse solely in jive
OR
have a "save game" function in your life?
Ok I would totaly go for the save game function. As it is campus is filled with Save Points so it would be easy. (The save points are actually these call boxes for emergencies if your ever attacked on campus with no one around. They have phones on them and glowing blue lights that look exactly like any save point in any RPG at night).

Would you rather...
be able to successfully avoid doing chores and facing minor relationship problems by hiding under some coats for a little while
OR
be able to bake chicken pot pie in your pants?
Chicken Pot Pie anyone?

Would you rather...
belch the sound of a gong
OR
sneeze the sound fo a bowling strike?
Depends on how often I go bowling

Would you rather...
have terrible gas on a first date
OR
be playing kickball at a new school, and not know the lingo, and so when they ask you how you want your pitch, you mutter in a shaking, trembling voice, "Soft and nutty," and you should have said, "Slow and smooth," and so they laugh at you and the girls hate you and Ricky Ordonez beats the crap out of you?
What?

Would you rather live in a world...
where everybody's speech was badly dubbed over like in Chinese kung-fu movie
OR
where golfer Craig Stadler was hailed as our overlord?
*sings (badly)* Everyone was Kung-Fu fighting

Would you rather live in a world (nerds only)...
where computer gaming was a lucrative and respected sport
OR
where it was legally enforced to have your Dungeons and Dragons statistics on your drivers license?
Wow a tough one, but I think I'd have to go with the computer gaming. I'd be a professional computer gamer by now.

Would you rather...
be able to clearly elucidate the differences between Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian columns
OR
have all the people who do that be rounded up and destroyed?
But, but, I already can elucidate the differeneces between the columns

Would you rather live in a world...
where all verbal exchange and written expressions were conducted in Haiku
OR
where a man's sexual prowess hinged entirely on the length of his mustache?
That's a nice mustache you got there...

Would you rather...
never be able to complete a thought
OR
