We had nice weather yesterday. Sunny, 75 degrees... not what I expected for mid-October, where flash-blizzards seem to be more the norm. And now I hear there's yet another hurri'cun headed towards the Gulf Coast. (And funky weather patterns are happening all over the world. This of course, supports my long-held theory that in order for Minnesota to have nice weather, the rest of the world must be in Hell. Think about it. Next time you hear of some horrible weather/natural disaster blighting an area, check out the weather in Minnesota. Bet it'll be warm and sunny. I'm not sure of the philosophical implications behind this phenomenon or what it means. Maybe it means we Minnesotans live in some sort of bizarro world, at least as far as meterlogical patterns are concerned. (It might explain why we choose to stay here, even though the winters here make the frozen cold Center of Hell as Explained by Dante in his Inferno seem like Cancun in comparison.) Not much to report today, except I'm planning on driving my car over to my brother's shop and having my oil changed, a process which will most likely also involve him staring at the underside of my car for ten seconds, then gravely announcing that I have something wrong with my whattchahoosit --and that I'll have to spend 800 dollars (plus labor) to have it replaced. It's happened before, and I know, it WILL happen again...

If there were any word that could adequately describe the past month, it would probably be BLARG. I suppose a month can't help but be BLARG when it's one of the busiest months of the year for you business-wise and you choose to schedule a move into a new apartment at the same time. (Although it's not like I had much of a choice on the whole time-scheduling-moving-out thing. At least the new apartment is nice and quiet--when the gun-nuts at the nearby firing range aren't blowing off their bazookas.) Another nice thing: I no longer have to deal with my insanity-causing parents, just a quiet sister/roommate who's gone for most of the day and who's reasonably non-annoying when she happens to be present. I suppose the thing which has caused me the biggest headache this past month (aside from the actual physical labor involved with the move itself-- which was mostly my fault for being so dreadfully out of shape--) was trying to get the internet hooked up at my new place. It's amazing. I only live 6 miles away from where I did before, and yet it's so remote that only one company bothers to provide phone and internet service here. Unfortunately for me, that company happens to employ an army of phone trolls who seem more interested in seeing how much they can piss you off than in actually helping you. To be fair, I did manage to find a couple of helpful, competent workers who helped to straighten out my problems and get me hooked up, but I had to wade through a lot of Stupid to get there. At least I'm all hooked up and relatively settled in now. And I managed to swing a deal with jaguarPC to put me on their GigaPlan Deal thingie, so hopefully those "Bandwidth Exceeded" messages should just be a thing of the past. (We'll see.) Oh, and I finally managed to post a few more chapters of Kevin's Xenogears Thumbnail Theater so go read it. Now.
