Hoo boy. I really shot myself in the foot now... Not literally, but I might as well have. For some now indecipherable reason, I tried installing DirectX9 onto a computer that was 6 years old and with a harddrive that was full of holes. You can guess what happened. My compy goes into Code Blue and starts crashing everytime it starts up (and every time I try to open an application.) I can tell I'm getting close to the end with this thing and will have to do a complete reinstall of my system. So. Now I'm wondering. How does one make a startup disk for Windows 98? I've read a few online tutorials, but they all seem to be under the mistaken impression that I have a PhD in computerology. I don't. Hell, I get lost just trying to find the damn "On" switch. Does anyone HAVE a startup disk for Windows that they could send me a copy of by e-mail? Or any advice on how to keep my Hewlett packard from crashing every time I want to empty my recycle bin (other than "Go back in time to the time and place that you bought this buggy piece of crap and buy a Macintosh instead?")

I'm leaving for Minnesota the day after tomorrow (that's what my PLANS are, anyway. I'd like to get this resolved before I go but I realize that's probably pretty unlikely.

God, why do I do such stupid things at times like these?! Ach!

I'm making final preparations for the drive back to Minnesota. I don't know how long it will be until I can go, since I was planning on buying new tires for my car (and Kate was supposed to help me by letting me use her Costco card, but an emergency has come up and now I don't know when I'll be able to buy the tires. Anyway, whenever I DO get the chance to go, there's a good chance I'll be offline for about a week or so. Perhaps longer. It depends on how fast I'm able to drive. Then I've got to work out how to re-hook myself back up to the internet. (I am SO going to miss DSL. *sniff*)

I've posted some more artwork to my Elfwood Gallery if you want to take a look and comment on it. (New pieces: Cosmic Angel and The Queen of Wands)
