I've added Parts 8 & 9 to the Nadesico Movie Thumbnail Theater That's about all I think I'll able to get done today, as I'm currently in the process of cold-calling local printshops in a last desperate push to find a job within a reasonable driving distance from where I live. I feel guilty about cold-calling, as it's an activity which has something of the taint of telemarketing about it. Here these innocent businesses are, minding their own..um.. business, and here I am, calling them up and attempting to sell myself as if I were some fabulous product, like vinyl siding. (Vinyl siding with 5 years of experience working with the latest desktop publishing software, and with a good track record for finishing quality projects on time within a fast-paced working environment.) Thus far, response to my campaign has been rather mixed. In fact, my entire job search up to this point can pretty much be summed up in the following paragraph:

"We're not hiring right now. And even if we WERE hiring, all we'd have for you to do is some boring grunt work which would make the mindless button-pressing you did at your LAST job seem like a pulse-pounding, badly CGI'd action sequence from a blockbuster Hollywood movie. All that creative stuff you like to do and went to college for seven years in order to learn? We give all that to freelancers. Because we're cheap-ass bastards. Sorry. Byeeeee."

Oh God.. I can see this is going to be fun. I think I can safely say that trying to find a new job is the worst job I've ever had. And it shows little sign of ending anytime soon. To Quote Black Mage from 8-bit Theater "What did I do to deserve this?...... (Aside from all the sinning?)"

After a gazillion years, I've finally managed to finish my Escaflowne: A Girl in Gaea Thumbnail Theater and post it online. That's about all I've managed to accomplish this past weekend. I was hoping I could color another page of Elder Star or give my site a badly needed facelift or maybe even begin answering the mile-high stack of e-mail in my inbox, but each time I sat down in front on my computer, my limbs started getting heavy, and I started feeling like I had a 600 pound gorilla sitting on my shoulders, kicking me and pantomiming the Macarena with it's massive arms and legs. These are not conditions which are condusive to meaningful work by any means.

On the whole, I'd have to say I'm holding up well, aside from the deep depression I'm feeling and the vague patina of failure which seems to taint everything I do these days. Oh, and aside from the pains in my nether regions which may or may not be of a serious nature. (The emergency insurance policy I'm taking out won't be in effect until next week. Gee. Hope nothing serious happens to me before then. Or even AFTER then.)

So then... enjoy the new content. Hopefully, I'll be able to get off my butt and do something Hamlet-related this week. (Although I highly doubt it unless, by some miracle, I can snag myself a job and get back into something remotely resembling a routine. Toodles.
