While I am currently in the process of listening to (and enjoying) the 1981 volume of my big stoopid QCPM project, I am at a complete and utter loss as to how, exactly, I can go about writing the accompanying article. It's partially writers' block, but also a general feeling of apathy and irritation, brought on partially by frustration with my own inarticulate writing style. I am very tempted to (at best) take a "bye" on this volume and maybe get back to things for '82, or (at worst) scrap the whole idea and just print the tracklistings for the remaining volumes sans commentary. It's more or less burnout, and not the nitro-burnin' superfast action kind that is alluded to numerous times in Ministry's "Jesus Built My Hot Rod". Consider also that in the last couple weeks the content on this site when not relating to QCPM has slowed to a miniscule trickle of two-sentence non-sequitirs and schmutz and things look sort of superficial right now. I know maybe four or five people total read this website on a regular basis and I have the feeling I'm boring the daylights out of them, so I think a re-focus is probably in order. Don't expect QCPM '81 anytime soon. But if you're curious, here's what's on it (working subtitle: "It Doesn't Look That Way To Me"):
Grand Wizard Theodore & the Fantastic Five, "Can I Get a Soul Clapp 'Fresh Out the Pack'"
Human League, "Don't You Want Me"
The Police, "Spirits In the Material World"
The Specials, "Ghost Town"
Stiff Little Fingers, "The Only One"
Journey, "Don't Stop Believin'"
Blue Oyster Cult, "Burnin' For You"
The Kinks, "Destroyer"
Psychedelic Furs, "Mr. Jones"
Siouxsie and the Banshees, "Arabian Nights"
Romeo Void, "Never Say Never"
The Go-gos, "We Got the Beat"
Joan Jett and the Blackheards, "I Love Rock and Roll"
Gun Club, "She's Like Heroin To Me"
The Cramps, "The Crusher"
The Adolescents, "Amoeba"
Minor Threat, "In My Eyes"
Agent Orange, "The Last Goodbye"
Mission of Burma, "That's When I Reach For My Revolver"

New blog what Nate likes: Wheelbarrow.
More later. Trying to figure out ESG's "Moody (Spaced Out)". Yes, QCPM '81 draws vaguely nigh. Friday? Maybe.
EDIT: I am stoopid. The "Spaced Out" mix of "Moody" is from '83 (where it will at least get to rub shoulders with Talking Heads and Liquid Liquid). There's the original mix from '81, but it's nowhere near as cool, so I will have to figure out another way to transiton from Grand Wizard Theodore to Human League. Oy.

My weekend was a world of stink. DJ Shadow played at First Ave. on Friday and N*E*R*D rocked the Quest on Saturday and guess whose broke ass had to miss them both? Blargh. I just hope I scrape up the cash to go see those zany White Stripes later on this month.
I have nothing interesting to write at the moment but maybe the new rockcritics.com Top Fives will get me going.
Did I mention that I got the Hives Veni Vidi Vicious and liked it all right?
