My pitas page
Well, I got my interview done today. Nordstrom will notify me within the week.
They told me (that is Ursula the girl who interviewed me) the hours were from 6AM to 3PM, Monday through Saturday.
It's $8 an hour so I said yes.
It's only 'til after Christmas, then there will probably be layoffs.
You can apply for jobs with the company and they do all their hiring within the company so that is looking up.
Ursula said there was no heavy lifting. I was concerned that they wanted to know if we could lift 75 lbs. over our head.
Nordstrom's
Hey, I passed the test at Nordstrom's and I am onto the interview! Yippie!
No flu shots 'til October 26 at Alachua County Health Department over in Hawthorne.
Mom had an earache yesterday! Dr. Gershow was on vacation but he did leave someone to take care of his patients. A woman.
Mom got in there and out pretty quick. We then went to the bank and to Publix supermarket.
I had to go to Nordstrom today for the "open house." I guess it was open house for all those looking for available work. I was really enjoying the talks, videos and tour but after all that we had to take a test. I think I am developing some kind of test panic or anxiety. I have failed some tests now that I am a middle ager and it has left its mark on me. I failed some tests at Santa Fe in programming and then I failed the A+Certification test. After that I failed a typing test for a University position, Word Proscessing was it called? I got 34 wpm on the first test, which is one wpm short and the second time I took the test I got 31 wpm. I got worse even though I had been using a improvement software called Fingers that cost about $30.
So, they told us this test would be of our simple math skills but it got really involved. I had to check one sheet of numbers and abbreviations against another plus do the math.
I ran out of time. I didn't answer all the questions. I believed I failed, but I just called and I found out that I passed. Now I get an interview.
I hope I get a job even though the days start at 7:00 A.M. and end at 3:30 P.M., because they pay $8/hr and it looks real clean, that is it looks like good working conditions.
Only thing is you can't miss any work. If you miss any more than two days you're fired. Kind of a bummer but I think it has something to do with the first 90 days of employment. There is no vacation or sick leave during that period.
I don't care, I need the money very bad.
So things are looking up.
I'm looking forward to hearing from others like INgenium, who also have seasonal jobs available.
I guess the thing is that it is seasonal. He said we could apply for other jobs available at the Distribuition Center as they come up.
That's good too.
Nordstrom is a shoe and apparel outfit. They are over 100 years old. There founder emmigrated from Sweden and went to San Francisco. He meant to go to Denver but it was cheaper to go to San Fran. Then when there was a gold rush up in Alaska he headed up there. I forget his first name but of course the last name was Nordstrom.
Taking Mom to the doctors in Gainesville today. I think it is the ear guy.
Tomorrow I have to get up at 7 AM to go to an open house at Nordstrom. Things are gettting busy.
My fitness subscription ran out yesterday. I think I am not going to renew it because the play too much country music up there.
Today I'm going to see about a flu shot and go to the Fitness Center.
I've been working out at least for a half hour at least once a week, but I am not losing any weight. Seems to increase my appetite as a matter of fact.
Seems like in our house food is the main acceptable behavior.
The Siddha Web Site
I have been applying for seasonal work, you know, so I went to the Siddha Yoga page while I was adding a link to this BLOG on my website and I saw they have seasonal sevite service.
I asked them to send me an application and tell me if they could help pay the expenses for the time I would be staying up there. They usually ask people to pay for their lodging at the ashram which is pretty expensive if you ask me (at least $25 a night back in 1992).
Ed's
Hey, dig this! I'm up and I'm on and all the rest of that stuff.
I wonder how personal I should let the stuff on here be.
I'm looking for a job currently, basically the really good job. I do have my apps in to the seasonal jobs, I need to remember that. I have apps in to Sears, Target, Shands Ingenium, Nordstrom and others. Just looking for a little work, you know?
Yanks lost the Division Playoffs.
I went to Maude's to UnCelebrate. I had a glass of white wine that looked red. Later that night I went to Cafe Risque where they have nude dancers.
Would be nice if there was a place that had nude dancing instead.
They had some really nice dancers out there. They all ask if you want a lapdance. I've had one and I didn't think it was such great shakes.
A guy in the parking lot at Maude's hit me up for some money. I gave him a 5 dollar bill.
Given that and going to Risque I am at a loss for real cash now.
I miss my friends.
