which calvin are *we*? ~

so ryry and i decided to find out what kinds of calvins we were! :) both ryry and i showed up as:

I am Stupendous Man!
You are simply amazing, whether you are battling your arch-nemesis Mom Lady, the nefarious Babysitter Girl, or the fiendish Annoying Girl. And you have absolutely nothing to do with mild-mannered Calvin.

Which Calvin are YOU?

*but* we decided that being tracer bullet was MUCH cooler. ^_^

I am Tracer Bullet!
You've got eight slugs in you. One's lead, and the rest are bourbon. The drink packs a wallop, and you pack a revolver. You're a private eye.

Which Calvin are YOU?

so...which calvin are *you*? :)

so yesterday ryry, my mom and i went out to lunch at the benihana in torrence, where they have wicked cheap lunch boats that are yummy yummy. then we went to the long beach aquarium! where ryry and i played with the sharks at the shark lagooooon. then we finished our day o' fun by going bowling. =) that ryry is pretty good at bowling!
today, ry and i met up with jon and rj at in-n-out, where we also ran into phil and barry (go fig! in-n-out on a college campus is *of course* where you'd expect to run into college kids around noontime). then we hit up a pub to play some pool (pictures, i'm told, are coming soon) and then my family took me out to a persian restaurant for dinner for my last night at home.

tomorrow morning? i have to wake up suuuuuuper early to catch my 7.45am flight back to albany...where *hopefully* andrew will pick me up and we can go and visit ally like last year. we'll see what happens.

things to remember!! cell phone, TICKET, wallet, homework, books, alana's dvd, geoff's sweater, ally's sweater...erm, ally's tank top...um, ally's shoes, dvds, cds, kari's book, marcos's book...um...god i hope i don't leave anyone's things here...

There is no escape. Don't make me destroy you. You do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover you power. Join me and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy.
LOL.

nobody does it better... ~

yesterday: new cell phone...swimming...jerry's deli and then SW30 with alana and our moms

today: grocery shopping...burger king, where ry got a cool spongebob toy (pull his tie and he vibrates!)...cooking...table tennis...then elaine and wes came over for dinner, along with one of some of our neighbor friends...then supermario smash bros melee and catchphrase...

Good morning. In less than one hour planes from here and all around the world will launch the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind... (beat) Mankind. The word has new meaning for all of us now. We are reminded not of our petty differences but of our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today, July the Fourth, we will once again fight for our freedom. Not from tyranny, persecution or oppression. But from annihilation. We're fighting for our right to live, to exit. From this day on, the fourth day of July will no longer be remembered as an American holiday but as the day that all of mankind declared we will not go quietly into the night. We will not vanish without a fight. We will live on. We will survive.

perpetually eraserless... ~

i got a new toy today! hooray. i got my cell phone updated to the slick new motorola t720--it's tiny, it's silver, it's a flip phone, and it's very, very cute. i already love it =)

being at home is really trying...i'm placed under the most rediculous restrictions and made to feel bad about myself all the time. it's just a shock from having your own life at school...

So you lost the ability to make life. You're being offered the chance to play mother to the world by acting like one and protecting it - saving it.

Are you happy? ~

met up with elaine and rudy today for lunch at banana bay (mmmm curry), then we went to recycle cans (haha) and used our profits for boba. (...rather, we tagged along while *rudy* recycled cans, and then used *his* money to treat us to boba ^_^ hehe). then we had crepes, and played arcade games, and took pictures! so i will have new sticker pictures for my dorm room door when i go back. ^_^

hopefully, alana and i will get to hang out tomorrow night...i'm still waiting for my parents to stop freaking out about me so that i can have a life...may be waiting indefinitely...

I don't want him to die, I didn't love him when we met, and I've done so many bad things to him that he doesn't know, things I want to confess to him, but now I do: I love him. I love him so much and I can't stand -- he's going.
things to do:
--journal for film class
--sign up for summer lsat class
--figure out if lsat class will interfere with job

holy moly ~

=) well, here i am at home!! yay. sorry i haven't updated in soo long. random thoughts to follow.

literature of the moment:
- i'm still working on gregory maguire's wicked and loving it...!
- grr...haven't finished lolita yet, much to my dismay, but i haven't had time to sit down and digest nabokov. i think it may get halted till summer.
- just re-read the real thing, by tom stoppard. it's just such good reading, really quippy and smart, basically how i wish i could have my life scripted. i'd love to direct it...or be in it.
- at the airport, even though i already had tons of books on me, i broke down and bought another british one that looked funny. it's called things my girlfriend and i have argued about by mil millington. =) i just started it (i mean, like first four pages = started), but it seems fairly funny.

**still on the bookshelf that i haven't started yet, but am anxious to?
- the corrections by jonathan franzen, which i asked for on my xmas wish list but haven't started yet. (note to self...i probably should NOT read this over the summer, when i'll be wicked stressed out over the fam).
- fitzgerald's great gatsby, which i have to reread for my gender studies class.
- i'm still waiting for m to lend me fast food nation, haha, and packing in as much fast food as i can before i know i'm swearing it off.
- another stoppard play (hooray!), called travesties, which i'm told is very much like picasso! i'm excited to read this; i'll get to it this week.
- the hours, which i just got a couple weeks ago and can't wait to start as SOON as i have time. it was highly recommended to me by alana, and i just saw the movie tonight (*squeal*)...keep reading for a more indepth opinion!
- a book by margaret atwood called the blind assassin, which i bought purely on its book jacket (which sounds a lot like the premise of the hours).

okay! next order of business! the rygoo is in a play! no kidding! :) he's a pirate in the pirates of penzance, hehe, which i'll get to go see on thursday, so i'm really excited. anyone else in the area? he'd love to have more audience members! ^_~ let me know.

wow, i guess since it's been so long since i last pita-ed, i haven't talked about it yet--the "picasso" that i mentioned before is a play that i'm in, called picasso at the lapin agile! it's a really neat comedy by steve martin about what would happen if picasso and einstein, both in their early 20's, met up at a bar in paris. two winter breaks ago, gina, wes, my mom and i went to go see it in l.a., and we all really liked it, so i'm psyched to be able to work on it. plus, all my favorite people are in it (namely, craig is directing, alana is germaine, marcos is einstein, amy is sagot, etc, etc, so how could it *not* be a great time?).

all right, now, just cause i'm thinking about her--alana, i gotta tell you that i was about to call you tonight! it's true. i was driving home from watching the hours, and i was stuck in traffic for awhile on the 91, and i thought i had your number in my cell but i didn't...anyway, what i wanted to tell you was my reaction to this movie. i absolutely loved it. the interesting thing was, wes enjoyed it and appreciated it, but i honestly don't think it hit him the way it hit me--most obviously, because i'm a girl. honestly, all the resonances about motherhood, and unhappiness stemming from duty (the whole 1950's era!), and the imagery, and the f--king SCORE (damn you philip glass!)...everything just really hit me. in the modern day new york timeline, when laura brown appeared--i totally lost it. i think wes thought i was nuts. anyway, if you haven't seen it, please, please go see it. there's a reason nicole kidman won the best actress oscar this year. and i can guarantee you, that you will -NOT- feel the same way i did when i saw it (how could you? you're not me), but i honestly believe it's a movie that people should see anyway. the sounds, the images, the women. they're incredible! =)

and, there's my rant! thanks for being patient, kids. sleep well, i hope you're all doing good. ^_^

[tour guide] and, if everyone will take a look to their right, you'll find a recent addition to our location, what's commonly known as a posting forum. this particular species is called flooblus chatterboxus. please feel free to feed it with comments. [/tour guide]

in other news today, my senior project proposal got rejected. we're thinking about how to deal. more later.

it did make me feel better, though, to go to lab today, cause i got to play with power tools. ^_^ very badass. i learned about four different kinds of saws, plus all sorts of ways to secure sh!t together, from power screwdrivers to air-pressured staple/nail guns, to drilling for nuts and bolts. i feel like this is good stuff for me to know, practical and savvy, too. so that was pretty fun.

stuff to do tonight: write this freakin revision for class tomorrow.

forlorn thought of the day: why am i so tired?!

happy bday, ga-tje! ~

Happy Birthday, Gina!

ga-tje joins the proud ranks of the 21-year-olds now, whoo hoo. i hope your birthday was fun, and that you had a good time with wes and all your other friends. i'm sending you the best of wishes from massachusetts...

escrita na obscuridade ~

I'm waiting for you. How long is the day in the dark? Or a week? The fire is gone. And I'm cold, horribly cold. I really want to drag myself outside but then there'd be the sun. I'm afraid I'll waste the light on the paintings, not writing these words. We die. We die, we die rich with lovers and triumphs, tastes we have swallowed, bodies we have...entered and swum up like rivers. Fears we have hidden in--like this wretched cave. I want all this marked on my body. Where the real country is. Not boundaries drawn on maps, names of powerful men. I know you'll come carry me out to the Palace of Winds. That's what I've wanted: to walk in such a place with you. With friends and an earth without maps. The lamp has gone out and I'm writing in the darkness.

general assembly? ~

HAPPY FRIDAY, FOLKS! ^.^ the week is finally over, and the weekend is beckoning to us with open arms.

tonight: Vagina Monologues, then perhaps some drinking and Invasion, USA, under marcos's demand.

ambititous plan for today: get my butt into the drafting studio and start on my elevations and floor plans.

check out: the crazy asian kid dancing! holy cow. [footnote heath for the link, although i think lucas may have showed it to me before.]

suite theme: we all wore skirts today in celebration of bright, sunshiney weather in the 40s! today's the last day before it drops back into 30 degree territory, so we had to acknowledge it somehow.

accomplishment: i finished my short paper on--get this--jessica rabbit. for my gender and sexualities class, we were supposed to "think critically" about sexuality in a certain context, and i seriously wrote the damn thing on jessica!! lol. i find that hilarious. i read it to marcos, who replied, "that...is the biggest crock of bullsh!t...i have ever heard." *proud grin* i love it!

final thought: "Love is the blackest of all the plagues." --from ingmar bergman's persona

hey, look at that ~

three cheers for a new layout!

*sigh* procrastination, thy ways are sly and devious. :O)

okay, so a bit about the theme; my suitemate camille says that in all fairy tales, whenever someone has patches of hairs that are of a different color than all the other hairs on their head, it means they are a fairy child, and they have healing powers.

that rules.

and as always, stale pitas have been archived. and now that haloscan is working again, i'd like to take this opportunity to encourage leaving comments!! go on, you know you want to.

and now, i must do WORK! =*
