Hiatus...
Tuesday, March 4, 2003 -|- 12:54 a.m.

Hi...blogging/entry hiatus for the next while (until my midterm on the 14th)...just a few quick points before parting.

a) Those I normally speak to via instant messaging programs...you won't hear from me anymore...and if you do...KICK MY ASS. [I'll just use e-mail...a little better]...though I'll likely unplug my modem in the very near future.

b) Married in America: Nothing like reality TV with rehearsals!!. If I was to chose a candidate for them...it'd be awfully tempting to find the worst candidate possible as a sociological study (okay...may not exactly for that reason XD)

c) Sopranos Season 3 coming on TV starting tomorrow...will tape...will be thing to look forward to after this chaotic period is over.

d) Ryvius CD...coming soon...again something to look forward to...

Later...

NB: Modified entry on LJ...also, majority of posting has been at my LJ

Blog move?
Wednesday, February 12, 2003 -|- 12:55 a.m.

Not sure if this will become a permanent move...but I've started making more frequent entries in a LJ than I do here...it may become my new blog place...or not...we'll see.

Lighter thoughts...
Sunday, February 2, 2003 -|- 08:22 p.m.

I felt it was not right to throw these lighter points with the previous entry.

First off...judged debate on Saturday (university level tournament)...two cases of note. First off..."We propose that the opposition should win this debate"..."as we have no arguments, we have a tight case [i.e. not debatable] and three, we are confusing". They had a few other points...it was a Special debate...and it was one to cause me to want to hit my head on the desk several times.

The second topic...that was...interesting...two teams that knew that they weren't in the quarters. One team decided to propose "Canada should keep peacekeeping". The opposition proposed that Canada should build up its military and reclaim its destiny. Plan...take over the US. How...mandatory conscription, funding from health care, social plans, etc. Make an alliance with N. Korea, Iraq and China...oh...and try and appear the victim...it was funny...but the opposition violated parliamentary decorum entirely.

A quick reality show remark...they want to train people so they can step into the boxing ring with the infamous Mike Tyson...joyous -_-;

I will again put off the LJ post...more pressing is my commentary on one of Priya's recent entries on interactions with patients...and working on anatomy...

Ponderings...
Sunday, February 2, 2003 -|- 07:51 p.m.

The big topic in the news is the loss of 7 individuals with the explosion of the Columbia over the TX region...people wonder what will happen with the space program and mourn for the loss of these individuals. Yes...it is a sad loss...but I also found myself thinking while watching the coverage in Canada...in my province...when the same day, 7 high school students from this province lost their lives in an avalanche while skiing. That story was buried a bit both on the TV and in the newspaper. Their deaths are also a sad loss. Who is to say which is the greater tragedy here...the loss of 7 members of the space program or these 7 youth...or the loss of many due to the bloodprice that war commands? Each and every day, there are many tragedies that occur (many occasions of happiness too just in case people think I'm a total pessimist)...is any one tragedy less important than another? I submit that the answer is no...that having being said; one cannot dwell on every tragedy that occurs...you'd be non-functional and an emotional wreck. However, one can and should perhaps spare a thought and perhaps a little sadness for all those tragedies that occur throughout the world...[I'm hoping that I'm being coherent here]

My next point is one that I would like to have hoped that I would not have to deal with. Friday night...there was a fundraiser held for a charity in town at one of the clubs...organised under the auspices of the interdisciplinary health course. I did have a ticket, but I didn't go because I couldn't make it down there (far out of the way...no bus service there at all)...however, perhaps it's good that I didn't go. At the club, the doormen were rather selective in who they let in...most everyone required just one piece of ID...but anyone who seemed to be "brown" (for lack of a better term; that's what the people who were involved in the incident used as their term) required THREE pieces of government ID...this was in fact that they had a ticket to the event and were medical students...my class is furious at the racial profiling and discrimination and will be holding a meeting tomorrow about the matter to decide on the next plan of attack. I will be there...
