I figured out the problem last night...two of my URLs were too long. I made them links and everything is okay. Yay.
Now...to write up those labs ^^;; Just another entry

Topics of sorts
Hmm...I was planning to write up a big long blog today, but I guess that won't be occuring directly ^_^;;. Um...I had some difficulty getting the HTML to work ;_;. I shouldn't be having difficult on HTML and I know that. I did pick up some improper tag closing when I was working through the code, but even at the end, I couldn't see what was wrong -_-;;. I was using Kourin's code to try and guide me (she has a similar, but slightly different style than I do) and the code was very similar but hers worked, mine didn't (the entry section is just too big). Gah...I suppose I'll just have to run the source through an editor (or use an editor to generate the source...both will work).
Valentine's Day
Yes, today was the day that that 40% of women would vote to eliminate (according to Jane Magazine). There were some interesting articles in the paper (Globe and Mail) today dealing with Valentine's. Do take a look at WMC's comments about Valentine's--quite enlightening.
I was initially going to make a somewhat tongue in cheek post about my personal 'Valentine'--school/science. In M's words (and partially mine), I'm married to the school, but have numerous affairs on the side ^^;;;;;. Sadly, I ran out of time (only reason that I'm not subjecting the log to it)
On a similar line, there was an article about computer dating today with some interesting statistics. Let's see...in Canada, there's about 13 million single people (out of just over 30 million), a growing number of people are meeting others online...and about 66% percent of the people surveyed (who had met someone they had met online) had sex with them. Hmmm...well...I'm not sure what to really say to that. I know that there are quite a few people that I know online that I'd like to meet in person, but I wouldn't be thinking in possible mate terms--heh...that's a fair while away.
Nasty chemicals
After having lunch with S today, the two of us ran into K in the hall. (K's in the next class I have after my lunch break)...the topic got to the nasty chemical I had to work with on Friday (pyridine) in the o chem lab. The effect of it is that inhaling too much of the fumes makes men sterile, but has no effect on women. Hmmm...pyridine does stink a lot -_-;; Don't think I inhaled too much o.o;;
Anyhow, returning to my point, S and K were making comments about how unfortunately, there was no effect on women. If there was, they'd be inhaling in deeply...the next comment that S made (surprise surprise ;) was that K should go and collect little vials of the chemical and then not have to worry about birth control. Remind me not to show S where the lab is :P.
Topics to discuss
Topics for me to talk about (for my reference only): fixing HTML, exams, labs, Temptation Island popularity, use of 'We' by instructors, FY box set review, plans, skanky clothing, definition of choch, etc. Stupid log ;_;

05:37 p.m.
Well, I'm through my stretch of midterms--I just have to write up some labs for Friday now.
Not much to say now other than the fact that I want to read this week's issues of Science and Nature to see what they have about the Human Genome Project.
NB: Yes Kourin, I do read your blog. ^_^. You know, perhaps I should make critical comments about the people that I know know about this blog and see if they react--hence showing me who reads it ^O^
More blog time later. ^_^. Tonight, "The Mole" ^^;;

05:37 p.m.
Oi oi...this is going to be a tough weekend. o.o;; Three midterms next week (1 Monday, 2 Tuesday)...so I'll be really busy.
I'll finish up my thoughts from last time. The reports I received about Saturday night's brewhaha with C and J make me want to hit my head on the table a few times. The arguments were stupid -_-;; Argument 1: "Batman" the movie is horrible because it doesn't follow science. The particular scene of interest is where the Joker falls into the acid and turns his face white. C says it "could never happen ever...can't quite get her voice down in the text though". Sadly for her, she was wrong. My knowledge of acids makes it seem possible to me. Side point, when S and M (gee, that sounds good o.o;;) pointed out that C's favourite Gundam Wing didn't follow science either, she got a bit upset (she's also somewhat annoyed at the fact that the manga shows that Hero and Relena get together at the end...she's a 1x2 fan...but I digress). Oi oi...I think I've spent more than enough bandwidth on this point that it really deserves.
Ah...on Monday as well, a little mail package arrived for me that really made my day ^_^. It was the FY TV series collection (3 CDs). I'll review it next week on this blog (not that anyone reads this anyhow ^_-). Mitsukake's second song is starting to be a favourite of mine ^o^. (The songs aren't really as bad as everyone says they are)
So many other things to talk about, but I need to finish reading e-mail...more early next week.
NB: Priya O.o;;;;;. A fetish shop O.o;;;;;;;. Chibi chibi. Wai wai ^o^

05:31 p.m.
Today, I got an unexpected surprise. My chibi is done ^__^. Yay!!! I wasn't expecting it anytime soon...as it's already been almost 8 months since it was started ^_- (heh heh S...I do remember dates). I'll try and get a scan of it uploaded sometime. Really, I will (I think I'll use it on my site).
Saturday, I went out with S, C and M to the mall downtown. (It was deemed to be equally inconvenient for everyone). I did enjoy myself, though I perhaps spent a little too much time there...which wasn't helped by S restraining me physically (wow, S is stronger than I thought she was ^_^;;).
Not too much time was spent shopping by the three of us. S, C and M did make a stop in La Senza. I refused to go in ^^;;;; (that's the correct policy for any unattached male)
One may notice the extra link just added--strictly for me again.
Apparently after I left, C, S and M went to J's house where...well, C apparently went bolistic o.o;; I'll comment on this matter in my next blog, as I see it's almost time to go home. {sings} "Home time, my favourite time of day is home time." The scam is revealed

05:14 p.m.
For all us students out there, textbooks are one of the more painful things to buy. I make it a ritual at the beginning of the semester to go to the bookstore, buy my texts and bitch the entire time. It's a therepatic process.
I know that online friends of mine have been hurt badly by textbooks. K used to be the story I told every one in real life (one class, over 15 books), $400 US in text cost for the quarter (I'm usually at about $500 CDN or so (probably an underestimate)) Now, C2 [I've decided to start numbering my initials for identification purposes] takes the cake. She's at over $600 US for 3 courses, all softcover and used ;_;. That is the record thus far for publishers taking a sharp pointy object and driving it up certain orfices [though I'd imagine that there are some out there who might find pleasure in that practice--I would definitely not be one of them]
As for the scam? Well, I spent $110 CDN on my biochemistry text. For two other supplements (book of figures from the text and the study guide--both about as large as the textbook), it's only going to cost me an extra $7 CDN (tax included). Does anyone sense a problem here? >_<
Hungry now...still have a while before I can go home...drat. ^^;; Blah blah

I don't actually care that this isn't a creative title :P
Not too much to say today, though I'm disappointed that I didn't see S. I figure that she stayed up a little too late finishing up her essay ^_^;; (I've made that error once by necessity, but I've resolved to never do it again if I can help it).
A collegue (is that the correct spelling? I'm not sure here) (looks it up) nope--colleague of mine (met her incidently through S and through a whole bunch of convoluted events is actually the overall reason that I even know C, S and M in the first place [that I only found out much later]...but I digress) decided to move out of the study of science and move to religious studies at the end of the year. I applaud her for having the courage to do what she wants to do. If you can't find something you love doing, your work career will not be pleasant.
Still waiting for my package to come in ^_^
Tried on Monday to submit my essay to the Anipike, but by 8 CST (9 EST), they'd already gotten over their 750 limit a week ;_;. Do I have to get up early to submit it? ;_;
Time for class...I'm done now (kind of). Staring at books and the computer screen (reprise)

05:20 p.m.
Again, I find myself staring at the computer screen doing a search for my genetics paper. I spent the earlier part of the afternoon looking at references for my clinical biochem paper. Lots of fun in Stephen's day n'est-ce pas?
I was very very angry yesterday afternoon when I was trying to work on a laboratory report. I had a NMR spectrum for benzoic acid, but sadly couldn't figure out how to read it -_-; I spent 30 minutes looking online to find a primer on how to interpret NMR spectra, but failed >_< Damn it...it is that difficult to find a simple thing like that? >_<
Yesterday also marked the "Super Bowl". My brother and I only watched parts of it, but we both agreed that it was a horrid affair. I like the CFL much better. =P
As part of my scientific curiosity, I was masocistic enough to watch the Super Bowl half time show. My hypothesis was proven--it was bad. I shuddered through it, and at the very end. Only one good part...the film at the beginning with the line "You N-sucked" ^^. Spears looked rather whorish (like normal) and the music was bad. For the glory of science! (Now, to continue my study, I'll have to watch next year's show ;_;). (Yes, I did watch Survivor II ^^;;;;;;)
Looking up genetically modified food, I see SO SO many sites opposing it. ^^;; SO many. I'm not surprised though...
