Comments regained

I recovered my comments from Netcomments and pasted them into the YACSS system (in the archive). Before I go, I just want to mention that I'll be archiving on Monday. I also remembered that I wanted to mention retro-layout month...and how I don't have one as a) I don't have many layouts and the old ones aren't that great ^^; (functional yes...but eye-candy they are not).

Black, white and grey

"Grey exists but so does Black and White. It's the contrast that gives definition."

The above is Seimei's quote that's a derivative of my statement: "The world is neither black nor white, but rather should be viewed in shades of gray."

This should be an interesting entry. Once again, I've managed to waste time (reading about the fanfiction character blogwar...and seeing points of mine about posting in the public arena appear (independently created) there as well). I'll likely work on updating my blog reading list (of course in the 5th Order region here). Look...still wasting time here...

My statement "The world is neither black nor white, but rather should be viewed in shades of gray.", as people who know me know, reflects my ethos well. [using ethos isn't meant to be pretensious...I just like that word] This isn't to say that I don't believe in any absolutes and am simply a relativist though. However, I don't think that most things are that clear cut (yes, there are exceptions, but generally no). I was particularly erked by Bush's Good vs. Evil system (read black and white)...which is so over simplified so as to be ridiculous and I think that's when I added the quote since it showed my feelings at the time...but as it reflects me, I have kept it since.

This takes us now to Seimei's statement. Yes, her point seems to be valid. Without a black and a white, there is no grey. However, one can argue that black and white are simply shades of grey (scientifically, that's wrong...black = absence of colour, white = all colours) and if one thinks of a spectrum, that is perhaps valid. However, I digress from the point at hand.

This discussion becomes much more interesting if you extend the analogy that I've alluded to above to Seimei's quote. That is of course, Black = Evil, White = Good. The logical extension of this is that evil must exist in order to define good. These two bind the spectrum of everything else. [I'm reminded of the tale end of Ghost in the Shell right now]

This leads to the last question I think needs to be addressed...then what is good, and what is evil? It's very tough to define...and I won't disgrace the issue by even attempting. I'd like to think that there are a few absolutes for good and evil...but I'm not entirely confident in that. I mean...I can classify things as good/evil...but can I define it? Most things fall into that haze in the middle (where relativism can play its role (good or bad depending) making things rather tough.

Oh...in obligatory references, WMC, that plushie looks cute. Gashapon is the term for UFO catcher doll (can't remember who was looking for that a while back).

Administrivia first

Before starting to write up a larger entry first some administrivia?! and I want to address one topic I mentioned this morning a tiny bit more. Administrivia is that i) I will be archiving soon (two more posts or so from now ^^; ) [as I'm archiving in multiples of 10 for the most part...and 20 is coming up soon]. Secondly, I will be releasing a Congly State of the Union (SoU) e-mail (written about three times a year). If you want to be on the SoU list and aren't already...send me an e-mail or drop a comment off.

I want to hit one topic that I fleshed out this morning. Blogging is kind of a public sphere (unless you put a password on the blog). I still don't know how someone can legitimately ask other people to step out of a blogwar. Yes, it may not be their fight...but still, blogging is all about responding to people (well, at least that's part of it). Had the sniping been private and one person posted the private bit, then yes, I would say that the person who kept it private can legitmately ask for people to step out. That's not saying it will be effectual or anything, but they can legitimately do it.

In the current blogwar, as far as I gather [I haven't examined the order of the responses super carefully], it is the person who brought the matter out into the public sphere who is asking for the matter to be taken back privately.

Now...I admit that this returns to the question about "why blog" again. Okay...I'll note that one reason for blogging is to vent. Fine fine. In that case, having the blogwar start is a rather unfortunate consequence of the public environment. Doubled-edged sword...a place to vent, but then others can respond to the venting which may make actually make one feel worse. Even considering this point, I still don't quite think that the initiator still can legitmately request a stop commenting order. One knows that their response is public...and so putting it into public is tandemount to opening the gates.

I should say that the above comments are general...although inspired by the current battle.

Elsewhere, I did provide comments on this matter basically calling the points pedantic (re. romanization -_-). I still hold to that...as there are bigger issues that can be dealt with. Personally, I agree with Jackie on the matter of romanisation (based on liberal use of the word technically). [on a side point, I've had a similar discussion about the title "Aqua Age" and whether it should be considered an official translation (Blue-Green Years...although ironically I've never seen it o.o;) In the discussion/'blogwar' I do though agree with Lise concerning the idea of the need to design for NS 4.7 (since I still use it...for various reasons) (and it likes to ruin CSS and dynamic HTML).

Blogging (specifically as flamewar) as voyeur sport eh? ^^;; Heh...I might add a few links to read based on this discussion. ^^

Lastly...Blogging Goes Legit, Sort Of (from Wired).

Well...looks like Seimei was right...didn't get to the topic of black, white and grey. Hopefully tomorrow.

So what exactly was I going to talk about?

Drat...I don't have my little scrap of notes (that's a ways away) telling me what I was going to mention. Anyhow...from the best of my recollection:

The scheduling this week at the local concert centre was rather...interesting. Monday had Prince appear (yes, that Prince) while Tuesday had "Puppetry of the Penis" (the show where two males go and make...shapes using their genitalia (no, I have no idea how they do it...though I seem to recall the review saying that many of the "pieces" looked the same). Best quote came from the Globe and Mail reviewer when the show was in Toronto...something like "If I had known what they were going to do, I never would have shaken their hands". Needless to say, neither show really appealed to me and hence I didn't go to either of them.

Monday...we had a spill of formaldehyde at work (on the first floor; I'm on the fourth floor). That led to a discussion at lunch about the worst chemicals to work with. HF (hydrofloric acid) [yes, I note that my notation of HF wasn't entirely accurate, but you know...] won hands down...you can't get it off and it has a side effect of calcifying your blood which equals painfulness and likely death. Oh...a HF burn never heals either...hope I don't ever have to work with that stuff.

Question for me to look up...rabies shots [curiosity sake]. How many and why in the stomach. {I was saying to someone on Tuesday that it was a large number of shots required...but then a virology lecture came back to me where it's only something like 6 or so after a bite by a putatively infected organism}.

Ah...blog wars. This time on Hellsing. For the first time, I can actually fit into the circle of linkage o.o; (i.e. I know both parties by no more than a step removed of blog linkage). The major point about romanisation seems to be nothing to really get super stressed about, but that's just me. Having said that...a combatant asking people to keep out of a war that has been made public by that particular combatant that is commenting seems rather hypocritical. You put something in public...it's fair game for commentary and response. [at least the way I understand the blogdom].

The commentary about Seimei's reference will come later...I promise [got caught up on playing LORD this morning...]
Reported: Thursday, June 6, 2002, 08:46 a.m..

Just a random entry

I've been busy playing LORD so I didn't get a chance to blog ^^;; [LORD = Legend of the Red Dragon...very cheesy RPG type game...very very cheesy, yet still fun and addictive].

I have a number of topics that I do intend to discuss...but that will have to wait until another entry. I thought I had some tests hidden around, but I guess the message with the code didn't get transfered to my other account...darn. Oh well...

Quickly though...that simulation got punished by FIFA ^_^. 10 000 francs (almost 10 000 CDN)...

Waiting is a hard thing to do...

Monday night

Well well well...where do I begin this entry. A good reason for the delay in entries in the past while is that I've been pounding through megatokyo.com archives for much of my blog/random surfing moments [all 260 odd acts o.o;]. I'm caught up entirely on the comic but I have about 15 entries worth of rants to read/skim. Excuses excuses eh ^^;;

Friday night was pretty much a wash. I had been tired all the week so I crashed and took a nap...following which I did a little bit of reading (no, nothing productive at all...I think it was some Gunsmith Cats translated stuff that I got from the library ^^ for about 30 minutes. I then slept for oh....may be 10 hours then. Saturday...I felt recharged and awake and all that stuff like that ^^. What did I do with that new found energy? Well...same thing as before...read some more translated stuff, some random TV including the CBC's World Cup match (Ireland vs. someone) of the day and quickly going back to the old ways, was up rather late.

Oh...I also finished up my entries for the Ani-Ex haiku competition ^^;;; The X one Ingrid inspired (and is one that Priya thought was wrong XD) is as follows:
A strong stench rises.
Lesson: Detached heads do not
Mix well with summer.

Sunday...I was alone...so I actually a) cleaned my room and b) finished up somethings that should have been done a long time ago... some TX people should be happy at that (or something like that). The room is pretty good now...much better than it normally is (i.e. a lot of floor space is visible now).

I was a bit low in anime stores (still haven't got my next hit of Ryvius yet :(]...so I started to scrape the bottom of my store of things to watch on Sunday afternoon. Tape of choice...Genocyber Ep. 1. I bought this tape used from the video store for about $5 CDN...in its favour, it was subtitled. Unfortunately, that's about all that I can say about it that's really good. The plot was quite thin (basically two sisters...one is feral, the other can't use her limbs and has to use robotics) have psychic powers; research is being done on them by a corporation in Hong Kong in the not so distant future [research is forbidden, unethical, etc]. The non-feral girl is able to control the feral one sort of via mind control. The feral girl runs away...the non-feral girl tries to bring her back...fails and kind of kills the feral girl (I think @_@). Lots of death ensues in the pursuit...somehow both girls die and merge to form this Genocyber like monster thingie. Net result...Hong Kong gets blown off the map. Oh...did I spoil it? Oh well...thank me for the 45 minutes of your life you've saved. I have the next two episodes @_@. I'm still not quite sure if I'll watch them @_@;; [somehow, I have the feeling I will] -.-.

Ah yes...another World Cup match...yesterday was Argentina vs. Cameroon. However, while watching that game, I was flipping channels and heard the news that Paul Martin got fired as Finance Minister by Chretien @_@. I'll spare anyone still reading this entry the boredom of an explaination, but suffice it to say, Martin wanted the PM position...Chretien doesn't want to go...political in fighting, etc. etc. Current poll says that 70% of Canadians feel Chretien should now step down (I do note the error that's inherant with polls, choice of polling question and other such concerns). The Canadian dollar did take a hit today (as expected ;_;)...but they expect it'll only be a short term [Stephen hopes]. This move by the PM is going to seriously affect the Liberals...I think that the lines are likely now drawn in the sand.

Tuesday morning

Yesterday night, I was watching the tape of the Brazil/Turkey game. It was a very good match although the big faking at the end by Rivaldo was bad after the ball was kicked at him by the Turkish player -_-; [if the ball hits your arm/leg, don't fall down clutching your head]. I'm reading on the Globe and Mail site that Brazil is claiming that Rivaldo wasn't faking and that FIFA is investigating. I should hope that they do...okay, yes the player who kicked the ball at him deserved to be sent off (even though it was a weak kick)...but I would have also cautioned Rivaldo for the dive [there's a cool animation on the BBC coverage with two yellows merging into a red ^^;]. Embellishment is a bit of the game, but it shouldn't be made ludicrous. Oh yes...I actually didn't see anything wrong with the call to award the penalty shot...it was close as to where the foul occured...sort of a continual thing...could have easily gone either way I think.

Continuing with soccer...the Globe and Mail also had an article today about one of the more popular referees in the game (with his own web site. Heh heh...I'm going to take a look at the Euro 2000 video later (where he apparently runs the entire field to display the red to a player).

Ah...I'm looking for Hikaru no Go translations (text only). If anyone knows where I can find them, I'd be interested in hearing (key phrase...I do not want scanlations. I want to read my manga offline and I don't really want to print out pages and pages of manga.

Reading through old e-mail, I realised that over a year has passed since...a certain event started. It wasn't an event I was expecting to deal with...but it happened. I can't believe over a year has gone by already. Things have changed a lot since that time...all of the parties involved have been changed in some way (I think...but for some reason, I have a few doubts). I know I have. For the better or the worse? That remains to be seen as of yet...all I know for certain is that I'm different from what I used to be just one short year ago. My ethos on related matters in some ways is the total opposite of what it was last summer...however, I'm not entirely sure whether it was the events of last summer or some other event(s)[?] that helped facilitate the change.

Once again...this entry is another typical example of my standard blog formatting...where multiple topics get crammed into one huge entry. Sort of a stylistic thing for me I think...(also the fact that I usually want to mention a number of topics and have a limited amount of time usually helps). On that note, I'd like to say that Venkarel's new blog format rocks XD. That's very very classy :)

I might toss up another entry this afternoon...I'm not entirely sure yet [there are a few topics that I didn't get a chance to mention now]...including one that Seimei inspired ^_^;

In a state of tiredness

For much of the past week...I've been really tired during the day :(. I think there are a few things to do with it. Firstly...I've been going to bed lateish (but only 12 to 12:30). Still, I've gotten up at about 6:45...so I'm still getting a decent amount of sleep. That's about how much I normally get during the school year. Secondly...work is still slow right now...but I can see it starting to pick up in the near future, so that's an encouraging sign for me.

Work on my personal projects have pretty much been by the wayside this week. I've started reading through some translated manga I got from the public library (oh yes...the strike ended about 2 or so weeks ago...took me a while to figure out that it was over). I did pick up two Mixx "Chix Comix" (Sailor Moon 4, 6). The editing job was shoddy to say the least. Apostrophes, who's vs. whose...all on one page. As I made my way through it, I realised that I'm not a great fan of Takeuchi's art. I don't know...the earlier art is better than the later stuff where I think it gets sloppy. I'm reminded of my handwriting...where there are things incomplete and the mind is left to fill in the gaps ^^;;;;;; I'm going to tackle Battle Angel Alita next I think (translated manga wise).

What else to note...ah...problems in Canadian politics for the governing Liberal party. Corruption accusations fly towards them (conflict of interest, etc. etc.). It got so bad that Chretien shuffled the cabinet and demoted the Public Works guy and fired Eagleton. Eagleton's last straw was giving a $36 000 contract to his girlfriend to talk about stress in the military because she's suffered from stress...(not a doctor...don't think she's a health professional). Both Eagleton and his girlfriend claim that they've done nothing wrong...and his girlfriend said it was a courageous act to do. Ummm...no.

Oh...Mr. Harper--yes the US is an important partner to Canada, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Canada should roll over and be whim to EVERYTHING the US wants to do. Criticizing Canada for supporting the land mine treaty (Nobel Prize for Peace awarded for this project) because the US didn't...-_-

Lastly...I got my Smile.dk CD in. Pointless Eurotrash pop XD My mood has been improved listening to it ^_^. I'm also waiting for my next Ryvius kick ^^;;;;; I watched the last three episodes I had waiting for the next round to come in...it should have arrived by now, but seems to be a bit delayed...{shrugs}

So...why blog?

Kris' entry about feeling guilty about being a "boring" blogger inspired me to write today's entry. That's rather fortuitious in some way as I didn't really have anything to blog about. I wonder if this will start a theme around blogland...probably not though ^^;;;

Why blog...well, actually there are a few reasons I do so. One...it helps me remember what exactly has happened to me (not that much exciting does though)...as my memory is sometimes a bit questionable for details at times. Secondly, it enables my friends to keep informed as to how I'm doing as my e-mail record is quite...lackluster, to say the least -_-. I know I should e-mail more...but I never ever get around to it, etc. I figure that I'll likely blog more often than I e-mail...so this is probably the most fresh information about me. Thirdly...there's a bit of the social interaction aspect. Reading and commenting on others views I would say helps broaden my horizons a bit (yes, I'm aware that sounds cliché, but I don't care overly ^^; ). I've met a number of cool people from blogland who are interesting to read and are knowledgable in areas I'm not. [the latter isn't that hard to do ^^;]. Fourthly...it's a spot for me to vent...though in all fairness, I have to note that I definitely don't vent too much here for a variety of reasons...

This prelude of a paragraph rather leads me into Kris' post (23 May 2002). I see shades of myself in her comments...with planning entries, etc. I know that I usually have a small notepad that I scribble down the topics that I want to mention...a quasi-planning if you will. Main reason I do it...as I'll likely forget exactly what I want to talk about...but it does give some organisation (to the extent that these entries are ever organised o.o;;; ) [yes, I do write coherently formally]. As for boring...well, I'm sure that a number of my entries are boring to one person or another. Do I care? Well, to some extent I do...but not overly.
I know that my blogging has modified somewhat from the start where I didn't care about what I said...to a point where I wrote for the audience (i.e. things I thought you (the readers) might find interesting...to now, where it's less so. I think to some extent, most bloggers do write to their audience...selective choice of topic here and there...omission of some ideas, etc. I don't think boring others should really be a concern...one needs to ask themselves...who the blog is for? The audience, or the author(s)? Writing for an audience to the extreme [unless the blog is designed for that] seems to lose some of the author's personality. A bit phony. Perhaps I may be a bit hypocritical in that regard, but so be it.
{grins} As for uninteresting, I think that my entries are less interesting than yours Kris ^^;;

Somewhat related to this entry is the report of blog theft. That's right, blog theft. There is the passing off of "original" content lifted from Akane (the blog where the content originated from). -_-; I'll let the readers of this blog interpret what this says about the first author -_-. Here...a perfect example (in the former case) of writing for the audience rather than for the author.

Shaving and snow?

The latter part of the title topic deals with the fact that it's raining/snowing outside right now. It's going pretty hard...I think the term is sleet? [not a term I usually use describing the weather here o.o;]

Shaving. What a unlikely combination for a pair of topics. That actually was going to be the sole topic for this entry (as you can see, I do live up to this blog's title o.o;). I'd imagine that the topic of shaving arouses strong feelings among the readers of this blog (I'm guessing based on demographics and on hearing the "you're lucky to be male" speech several times).

At the beginning of this month/late last month (can't remember the actual date), I switched back to a two-bladed razor rather than the three-bladed one I had been using (Gilette Mach III) for the daily ritual (although on weekends, holidays, etc.--that's debatable ^^;). The three-bladed one had been a comp one ^^;;

When I had been using the three-bladed razor, I hadn't actually noticed a difference in closeness of shave...but back to the two bladed one, I can see the difference on my face o.o; It's also much easier to clean out the blades on the three-bladed one than the two bladed one. (much much)

What's the only thing stopping me from going back to the three-bladed razor? Simple...cost. I think it's like 4 blades/$10 for the three bladed one compared to like oodles of the two bladed one for the same price. However...I'm very tempted to say "the hell with it" and just suck it up and pay the premium o.o;;; I don't know how the Schtick Extreme blade is (it's a disposable)...don't know if I'll give them a try.

Genji blog?!

I've separated this post from the other one because I don't want it to get buried in the other entry (as some people will likely ignore it [as most of it is rather dry and what not].

I'm planning to write up a Genji blog which will basically consist of my notes that I've been making as I'm reading through my Seidensticker translation. I had to make the notes as on my first attempt through this edition (with breaks and what not)...I couldn't remember incidents from previous chapters -_-; The notes are typically plot events (pretty much most of the events that occur), other interesting tidbits and other random things I come up with. [Oh...if you think there won't be spoilers...you are sadly mistaken ^^;;;]

The question is...should I just keep using this blog for my Genji entries or should I create a new one. I plan to eventually organise all my notes together and create either one huge document or a site for it...(which will be easy mind you as I'll just be copying from my master document for the blog entries) ;) Please do comment on this.

Politically charged?

Yeah...a rather low key entry here...topic especially for Ingrid ^^;

Where do I start off...I'll go Canadian federal first. Last Monday, seven by-elections were held to replace MPs that had resigned, been appointed elsewhere, shipped to Denmark (...), etc. Expected results was that the Alliance would win the seat in Calgary (forgot the riding name, sorry)...as the Alliance candidate was the current party leader (and would be leader of "Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition" if he got elected). Also helping the efforts is that he was effectively uncontested. The other results were expected to be Liberal. However, a NDP won a seat in Windsor and a PC got a seat in the Maritimes...a bit of an upset if you will.
Currently, the federal Liberals are dealing with corruption charges...it looks to be messy. Opposition parties are trying to keep on hammering at this issue...and after the Auditor-General opening up her investigation into the matter...it could get ugly for the Liberals.

To provincial politics...^^;; One MLA is currently facing fraud charges (for something out of office IIRC)...there is aligations of members of government offices selling secret data...as well, I think one minister resigned for some reason or another (why is it that I think sexual harassment in the office)...can't remember for certain. As you can see...provincial politics here has been rather...interesting I suppose o.o;;

To the US...where questions swirl around how much Bush Jr. knew about the likelyhood of attacks on the US, etc. Blame is being passed everywhere...and people want investigations, etc. It's a difficult and thorny issue to balance...the idea of national security that an investigation might affect as well as the idea of trying to determine whether or not there was a breakdown in the chain of information passing and if so, who is to blame.
Somewhat linked to this is the claim that the US may face more attacks. I hope that it isn't true...
I do note though that some government agency or another (FBI?) has admitted that these warnings are political. Once again, this shows the power of knowledge...and I cite the anthrax attacks earlier (i.e. US knowing that it was a domestic but playing up the idea that it was foreign)...

I'm not going to really touch the world political scene (o.o) save to note the creation of the newest nation Democratic Republic of Timor Lorosae yesterday (from East Timor...a territory that used to be controlled by Indonesia).

Exciting weekend?

Nothing too exciting this weekend. Did go out to DDR for a while...came that much closer to finally beating Dam Dariam on Trick (made it about 40% through before failing out...and I'm not making that many bad steps either)...I must say that ???? Cyber (whatever that is called) is almost undancable. I can't even hear the beats or the vague sense of a melody.

I noticed only recently that I had some issues with remembering to give each post a unique number -_-;;; I was planning to do some corrections (number the entries correctly, retype the comments into the correct location...but I'm still wavering on it (however, the identity for this entry allows for me to do it [not that it's that much work...only have three comments at most to play with]). I still have to recover my comments from Netcomments...so that is probably the greater priority. Whatever...I'll see how I feel later today.

"In the Bedroom" was a pretty good movie. I enjoyed it...and the acting was quite good. I could see the characters' struggle with the tragedy and one could sense exactly where the snapping point was. I didn't think that Spacek was super great...but was adequate. However, one of the women there (Richard's ex-wife) I had issues with...as she couldn't maintain her accent all the way through (I think it was a New England accent)...it was not consistent I think.
Quick synopsis: Doctor father, teacher mother and only son. The son is planning to go into architecture and is dating this woman who has two kids and an abusive ex-husbandish Richard. One day...there's a struggle and the son gets killed by Richard. Justice looks like it won't be served...and thus that leads to the climax of the movie...

Watched some season and series finales in the past few days. I only watched the last 30 minutes or so of Survivor IV...at least one speech was hillarious (talking about hypocracy). {shrugs} They did the helicopter thing again (5 month delay)...and did it in Central Park live. Heh...I know that having the whole game in Central Park has been suggested by a few somewhat cynically...it might make it more interesting.

I also saw the end of X-Files. I haven't watched in years...but the first part was not too bad (with the tribunal)...it summarised the series pretty well...(with lots of cameos). The ending...I booed at it. Cheap and cheesy IMO...the Truth was rather...disappointing...it was anticlimatic. I thought of Evangelion when I saw the X-Files ending...o.o;;;

Politics should appear in the next entry or so...haven't decided on my scope...but I know that I'll talk about Canadian politics a bit more so...

Long weekend...

Yay...long weekend. I'm off to the arcade to DDR for a while I think...and then to see a movie at the cheapies...I was going to go see Harry Potter o.o;;...but since it only plays at 1:00 ish...I'll think I'll see "In the Bedroom"...

For Ingrid...I think the next entry will likely be politics related ^^;;;

Lastly...~now~ Netcomments comes back up ^^;;;;;;; Oh well...

Hmmm...

A few random comments right now (looks at his watch and makes a semi-sour face). Ouch...the Globe and Mail ripped apart the Star Wars episode II movie...basically, the review was saying the movie was "Plot, what plot?"...i.e. more eye candy than actual plotish. It's a pretty funny review mind you ^^;; [1.5 stars/4...which is low...]...I couldn't find their site though that archives the other reviews (to see what episode 1 got). "he latest episode in the franchise is indeed a clone of its predecessors. And you can't see the plot for all the light sabres and action figures". May be I'll just wait until it comes out on video...like I did for episode 1 (which wasn't great...but not...bad I suppose (not good either, but that's another story) ).

Next up...I'm so so glad that "American Fighter Pilot" got canned off TV. That show was very very poorly done. I lasted one episode and whimpered the whole way through it. How do I put it...every so often in some "directing brilliance", a line by a person would be repeated several times...and it'd be written on the screen in some pseudo-artistic style. I have never seen an opening so jingoistic either...I...really didn't see the connection. It was rather forcèd.

Survivor's finale is Sunday...I've actually watched a bit more this time than I did the last one. I seem to recall that the last bit is done live in New York I think (the final tribal vote or something)?...don't know exactly. Also, X-Files ends on Sunday too (in the US they compete...here, they're on at different times so one can watch both). Heh.

Conflicting schedules...one of the ironies in my life these days ^^;;. This is not to be confused with...expecting people around, not seeing them and wondering why...:P

New layout

As you can clearly see, I uploaded the new layout last night. Many of you might note that the layout is very similar to the last one with only a few modifications. I grant you that, and use a lack of skill with layouts as my explaination to the high degree of similarity ^^;; When I saw the Jubei-chan graphic while puttering around online, I knew that I wanted to have a layout featuring it...since I think it's a rather stunning graphic (looks computer generated I think?)

This layout isn't quite complete yet...I have to add a few more things (i.e. credit for graphic, list of important topics discussed in the past [as promised], etc...hope to do it today).

Whew

Okay...you may notice an archive...and no new layout...and from "Psuedo entry #1" may be wondering exactly ~why~ I archived (as in I'll lose the comments).

I'm using YACCS as the comment service now. I've had to set up two YACSS accounts; one for the archived layout and one for this one (as the numbering system for the Netcomments is rather inconvenient for YACSS...all numbers have to be larger than each other...and I was using dates ^^;;). Thus, as I want to eventually be able to access the old Netcomment entries one day (and may transfer them to YACSS)...I left the numbers as they were (made one change...may lose a few comments, but that's not too bad).

The new layout ~is~ coming...I'll try and get it up tonight or so (still a few last minute things to do with it)...considering getting rid of the Order list...(as I'm finding it tough to classify ^^;;;;;) [still haven't uploaded that final graphic yet -_-;]

... (was "Pseudo-entry #2)

A short story:

Saturday night, I and a group of friends are going to wish off a mutual friend (who is headed back to Japan for the summer). Plan...go to nightclub for a while. Okay...fine...good mood.

Problem...coming out and seeing passenger door window broken (that is car broken into). Now...very bad mood. The thing that makes the whole event so fucking stupid is that only one thing was stolen from the car. An old sweatshirt of mine that I had left in the back as I didn't want it to adsorb the smell of smoke. The sweatshirt is worthless [it was several years old, had no brand name on it and is rather small (as I'm smallish).]

Not too much to say (was "Pseudo-entry #1")

I had intended for the previous entry to be the last one of this blog layout and before I archived. I've been waiting for Netcomments to be back up before archiving (and I didn't think it'd take this long ;_;) [as if I archive, the comments on this page will be lost as the code will be incorrect]. Thus, I'll be making some pseudo-entries that will be deleted when I archive and transfered to the new layout (speaking of which, I need to upload one more graphic to my account).

Not much to say from my account. If you're expecting a package from me, and ~don't~ live in TX, I should be getting them out this weekend (working on writing up the letters [just started last night @_@]). As for those in TX, I'm still not finished what needs to get done (and I haven't even thought about writing letters yet @_@)

A lot of interesting topics flying around...take a look at some of Kristi's recent entries...quite interesting.

Oh...they recently put out a list of the top 100 books of all time (after a poll). I've read 9 of them only ^^; [though how on earth Anna Karenin made it there...:P]. Old Man and the Sea was on there (never read it)...and I know how at least one infrequent reader of this blog feels about Hemmingway. Genji was on it, as was Decameron, and Arabian Nights...(all three very good books). Let's see...other than the four I mentioned, what else on the list have I read? Ibsen's "A Doll's House", Austin's "Pride and Prejudice", Shakespeare's Hamlet, Oedipus Rex by Sophocles and Pippi Longstocking. Heh.

Jubei-chan

A stunning image of Jubei-chan, from Jubei-chan, The Ninja Girl a short 13 episode OAV. The first episodes are hysterical; it dies down towards the end, but over all, I liked it. It's a good series for marathoning (did so last year XD)
