What I'd give for a cute female masseuse right about now...

Or any masseuse what so ever...as my shoulders are so stiff. NB: If WMC can ask for a bishounen masseur, I think I can ask for the equivalent :P That's surprising though, as school hasn't started yet @.@.

Thursday:

Thanks to everyone who has been giving me reading suggestions. I'll compile them into an entry (for my purposes) very soon. Merci ^_^

Hmmm...I think the evil one has been misleading you Tin in regard to the Doki^3 research that I did. Actually, she didn't present my comments quite accurately :P. Easiest way to clear that up is to post the log XD. Pity thing is that the conversation was on AIM, and I didn't save it (I think...it wasn't on ICQ as I didn't have it in the History). But did I talk to her on AIM back at home? I cannot remember -_-; I should also note that the original exchange between WMC and I (for the Chinese fairy tale) is now lost into the mists as well : (. I think I said though that I learnt some interesting things, but was unable to find a document that would be appropriate to send your way; that is, what I couldn't find what you were looking for, though there were a few schematic diagrams. Take a look at my citation I provided you for more information than you could ever want to know though Tin. ^^;

However, I did look at some ICQ history and found a gem from the evil one:"May flights of fangrils chase thee to thy rest, and pommel you for their bishounen's locations :P" {I should watch out for the Hibachi model XD }
I'm not entirely innocent either: "Yep...your third last message today seemed to be excreting a lot of H...so I assumed a hyperhentaiemia condition. ^_-"

I got my haircut today, and it feels so nice to have very short hair again. It's ironic...the length I like my hair (more exactly, when I think my hair looks its best) is right in the middle of the two extremes: between when it gets cut short, and when it's really long ^^; Sadly, due to the barber's hours, and my hours not matching at all, the time for hair cuts is rather limited @_@. There are so very few barbers left these days...the trend is to have hairstylists instead; unfortunately, I prefer barbers over hairstylists {sighs}

Friday:

Doh..I haven't made any progress on Project C yet ;_;. I'll have to try and get that thing going posthaste. I really want to have it out of my hands soon...and we'll see where the fates take that project. The odds of it being successful aren't that great, but what I would gain from its success is worth too much not to try. {crosses his fingers}.

I'd like to take the moment to formally wish "Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon for Neophytes" a happy third birthday : ) (yes, that's my site, but I'll still plug it here anyhow XD). It doesn't quite get the traffic of the other major sites, but I think I've made a valuable contribution to the knowledge base with the site. Now...if only I can get motivated to work on AnC for Neophytes @_@.

I'm still flogging away at the book I've been trying to finish: "Art of Genes" by E Coen. It's a good book, don't get me wrong, but it's complex reading...although it's classified under popular science. Basically, Coen tries to describe development through the use of art. It's an ingenious idea that is very well thought out. However, I have to often re-read the passage several times in order to figure out exactly what he's trying to say. For those who are willing to concentrate on the book, I'd highly recommend reading it.

My money order for the Genji arrived yesterday...it's being shipped off my direction today ^_^. The AnC tankouban will also be en route very soon, so I'll have several things to look forward to. I don't know how much time I'll have to enjoy them though...as another semester starts on Tuesday. I'll have the pleasure of having a freshly cleaned lab coat XD (how long will that last? Line up for the pool is on your right ^_- ). WMC...now that you opened the door by telling me that they exist...you've got to get me an anime pocket protector one day =P (yes, I'll be wearing my traditional pocket protector in my lab coat again...it stores my periodic table very well, as well as my Sharpies {loves the black Ultra Fine Point} ) That reminds me, I've got to send out something in the mail very soon...I also have to attempt to work on WMC's present ^^;;; (which probably won't happen...even though I promised this almost a year ago -_- )

Ah...I finally figured out 1337 speak...had to search for a glossary online...and came up with a pretty good one. I had been wondering what the number "thirteen thirty-seven" had to do with anything -_-; Forgive me, but I'll stick to Standard English here ^^; as 1337 speak is a bit too hard for me to read and write quickly.

For the amusement of WMC; someone's descriptor after seeing your graphic of me.
{deleted}: (11:36 PM) wow o_O
{deleted}: (11:36 PM) that's pretty.. freaky

I dream of dancing formally in the moonlight...

...as the haunting duet from "Adolesecence of Utena" plays in the background. The song manages to evoke a sense of pathos in me, but I've always liked the songs in minor keys.

It's been a little while since my last entry...in fact...almost a week ^^;; Not using the computer in the morning (and using a modem connection) kind have limited my entries a bit. Where should I begin...but it seems like I'm always asking this question in the blog and per usual, I don't have any answer for this.

Umm...good idea: responding to people who have responded to my points ^^; Kristina, I'm looking for pre 20th century work, but with particular interest in Heian and the Tokugawa periods (the two periods of Japanese history I have particular interest in). I've already read Musashi...not bad, but it takes a lot out of one to read. I'm scared of even thinking of challenging the other book Musashi's author wrote (sorry, I don't know the name)...it looks big and malevolent, like some of my textbooks often do. Noted about your relative lack of experience in Chinese literature. I'll take a look at Journey to the West, if I can find it at the library ^_^. Thanks WMC for your suggestion...I'll look into that as well. Where have you been online though...I haven't seen you online recently : /

Janaki: the link you provided to disturbing referrers was quite entertaining ^^; I haven't had many crazy referrers yet...most of them use "random words" or "random characters"...though I did get "Tanzy + Katie" once...{shrugs}

I discovered the graphic novels that the RPL (public library) now gets ^__^. I took out a number yesterday, and I see that there are lots more I want to read (X, Evangelion I haven't read, Tenshi, Dark Angel, Ah My Goddess, Maison Ikkoku, Lum, Ranma, Blade of the Immortal, etc. etc...and there's a lot of them ^^; Yay). What I have plowed through was Dragonball (1-2), one volume of Blade of the Immortal and two large volumes of Eagle: Making of an Asian-American President. I want more of the latter badly... Wow...I looked up graphic novels on the catalogue and was very impressed at what I saw. I may even have to create a "manga read and to read" page, just so I can keep track of everything ^^;

Venkarel: Take some plushies for having that date moved around yet again @_@. Keep up the battle.

Oh...in my hands I have something very special. Very very special (though the post office delivered it to the wrong house again...and so I only got it today, when it probably should have arrived days ago >_< ). What is it? Sheet music for "Scarlet", theme of Ayashi no Ceres XD XD. Yes, that's right...the Scarlet sheets sent to me courtesy of Nellie. I'll have to write her an e-mail thanking her for the music ^_^.
The music though is shifted to a different key (original key, G minor) in order to avoid key signatures and accidentals. I managed to figure out that there is a shift of 3 semitones upward from the original in this version thanks to the transposition function on my electronic piano. The version is not too bad, but it isn't quite the score of the piano solo on the first OST. This version has lyrics and some minimal piano accompanyment, but I'm still very grateful to get my hands on even this. Thanks again Nellie (though I know you don't read this ^^; )

Kourin...sorry for taking off on you last night, the AIM Java froze on me, and I had to kill it. I couldn't reload the page well though. I hope that you were able to get my info about the university you were hunting and its URL.

Ah...let's see...I'll be out for much of the day tomorrow for firstly a picnic, and then a farewell party for K-san (I near positive I've mentioned her before...she was in two of my classes last term, but she's decided to bid the sciences farewell and head off to something more her interest). She's off to a different university that has the program that she wants (where have I seen and heard this song and dance before? ^^;; ) so I hope she does well there ^_^. I'll of course wish her well formally tomorrow anyhow...and we'll see whether she beats me in accomplishing her life goals before mine ^_^ (mine are still not really decided upon for a variety of reasons, but I won't get into them now). There's only one goal that I have some issues with...specially something about preventing me from taking over the world ^_- I'll probably have to head out tomorrow (or take a good look around the house) to pick up an appetizer for the meal tomorrow night...hmmmm...

On a different note, I'm peeking at my telnet connection, and I saw this URL:
http://www.egroups.com/messages/EscaflowneFSML The early messages show how bad a mailing list can be o.o;; (and one or two of the readers may be familiar with this list already) O_o; I've been sniggering away at some of these posts ^^;;; (and know that people who did that on one of my lists would really regret it).

Oh...DDR one isn't too bad...I played it yesterday and managed to school Butterfly big time (only one Good...14 million and an S rating, but only 3 feet). The other songs didn't quite go as well as that (I think I did Make It Better, and then Brilliant 2 U Orchestral Groove), but I beat them except for Paranoia at the end o.o;; One day I'll make it through. Not having different coloured arrows for half beats made it much more challenging though...icky "Flat" mode -_-;

"Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home"

Title topic is a quote from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "The King and I" ^^. Obviously, as the quote suggests, I'm home again. I got back Tuesday evening, was online for a bit that evening (I think I was talking to Ryuuen for a while), and put some stuff away in the house.

I'm aware that there is just a little gap in the story from Sunday to Tuesday (well, a fair bit on Saturday too, so I suppose that's a good place to start). Saturday, as stated already was exam day. It was long and tiring...start time 8 AM, end time, 5 PM (with some breaks in the middle of course). It is done. That's about all I can really say about it...though it was such a nice feeling to complete it...I could feel the stress disappear as I left the examination room. Along that line, midway during the exam, during the first break...I had the chance to take a look at myself in the mirror under the harsh sunlight. I was scared of myself at that point...I really didn't look that attractive, to the extent that I can ^^;; Ugh...I think I've only looked worse one other time...when I was horribly ill, and still dragged my body to school one day to ask about a lab report (which was extended O_o)...that one day, I was horribly pale...and for me to be pale (for those who have seen me) is a rare occurrance. However, that's neither here nor there.

After finishing, I went home and sat and watched some TV. Ironically, a friend from the US called that particular afternoon sometime o.o;; I watched the first part of "Meet the Parents" (which is okay, but not the greatest movie I've seen)...surfed on the internet a bit, and then got ready to go out that night to a local bar (it was karaoke night...I didn't sing because a) I don't really know the songs, and b) I'm more of a choral singer than a solo one ^^; ) It went pretty well actually...though the music was a bit too loud for my tender ears o.o;;; I went home...hopped online hoping to harass the evil one, but she wasn't there ^^; Instead, I talked to Thea a while which was quite fun. I think I went to bed a bit past 2 AM.

Sunday morning...finished watching "Meet the Parents", and worked hard on cleaning the house up for the anime marathon I was hosting. There were three others in total...first we rented DVDs, got food, and then went on a 7-11 run ^^ (the 2 for 1 Pepsi Card Gulp deal is very very good). The DVDs watched were "Jubei-chan the Ninja Girl: Secret of the Lovely Eye Patch" 1-13 (all). It was surprisingly good...absurd, and well appreciated by everyone. The next thing attacked was the tape of "Adolescence of Utena" that one guy brought...it was actually pretty good. The DVD with Ikuhara's commentary is looking very very tempting to me, even though I don't have a DVD player yet -_-;. We were working on Twin Signal, but the session had to end early, as one guy had to go...he was having car troubles {he missed Utena because he had to go back to the lab...but then he realised car problems meant that he needed to get home quickly}. All in all, a very successful event. ^_^

Monday Monday Monday. I actually got up early Monday morning, as I had to make a library run (and drop off several books) to two separate libraries. I had no loonies, etc. ... so I had to go and use up all of my loose change in my wallet (which just added up to the amount I needed give or take a few cents O.o;) The main library was closed, but I was able to drop off the books there. I then headed to the Health Sciences Library to return a book, and do some research.

Ah yes...the research. I actually learnt a fair bit during the 45 minutes or so I spent. I looked in several books Tin, but I wasn't able to find anything along the line you were looking for (i.e. highly illustrated, quick easy explaination). Yes...of course I looked in multiple resources...relying on just one isn't a very good idea ^^;; Ummm...I did find one reference that has more than you'll ever want to know about "Doki Doki Doki". There's a chapter in "The Physiology of Reproduction, 2nd Ed." ed. E. Knobil & J.D. Neill. Raven Press Ltd. New York NY, 1994 1489-1506.
I'm not putting the title of the chapter down here though...since it might scare away some of my friends that I made from work who might be reading this right now. A-san...if you're reading, hope your adventure/vacation is going well ^_^ I'll work on e-mailing you...in fact, it's on the list of things to do ^_^.
I also looked up another point that S-san was asking about...but I wasn't able to find a definitive answer to that ^^;;;

After this...a stop by the arcade to play a round or two of DDR USA. First game...decided to do Double (Boys, 4 feet). Passed it with little problem, got a high score, but wasn't able to get my middle initial in : ( I then did another single game...and again was able to beat Paranoia Clean Mix (6 feet), but this time just barely, unlike Friday when I did it quite well. I then headed off to work, to go show where all of my samples, are, notes, etc and then the lab went out for lunch to the Indian buffet ^_^. Very nice. I then trudged home, sat and watched a little TV until my parents called and I went to meet them. I went with my mom to the bank, and along the main street to stop and get some things that I wanted (including Shogun: Total War...the Congly bakufu is going to crush some peasants to the ground ^^;; )

My last soccer game of the season started at 6:30 PM...though I kind of arrived a bit late...and so we started late ^^;; The game went fairly well, except I made one or two errors that I really shouldn't have (got a little too whistle happy). Of course...there had to be a controversy, but happily, it isn't mine to resolve....Campus Rec gets that fun ^^;

Tuesday morning...packing and cleaning up. My mom watched the Gladiator DVD in the morning...I only saw bits and pieces of it though. I returned the scoresheet to Campus Rec, did some laundry and eventually, we finally left at about 3 PM and arrived home at about 6:30 PM. Nothing very special.

Wednesday was the infamous textbook shopping day with S-san and C-san. S-san really got reamed this year, while it looks like I might get off easy (two classes don't have texts, one class I don't think will be using the text, and I think I can borrow a text). The one textbook I did buy I managed to get used, but it seemed to be in almost pristine condition, save for a bit of cover wear. After textbook shopping, a bit of time for idle chat, than off to C-san's where C and S worked on their Rinoa costumes for All Hallow's Eve. ^^;; Dinner, more costume work and a bit of PS playing followed before I disappeared into the night to go home. Back at home, I watched the rest of Law and Order ^^;; and then went online...and found the evil one on ICQ and talked to her for a while (although I was trying to do a few things in the background...sorry WMC ^^;;; ) Her description of the graphic is starting to get scary and I'm a bit frightened of what the desktop she made looks like @_@;; {I'll post the URL in another post : ) }

Hmm...and that pretty much brings me to today....where nothing much has happened, except that I got to sit at the piano bench again for the first time in ages {glimmers}.

Katelynne...the one day that I didn't read...you got a whole whack of entries ^_^. Kristina...do you have any suggestions for classic Japanese or Chinese books to read (in translation). If so, I'd be really interested to hear as I'm looking for reading material ^^. I tried this question on one of the few boards I frequent, but I couldn't really get a good answer, as what I was looking for is highly specialised ^^; However, I think that you're probably a better bet Kristina though due to your extensive knowledge of this area. Hmmm...have to mail off money order to get the Seidensticker version of "Tale of Genji", I'm so looking forward to reading that : )

It is done

And hence, a slightly updated look to the blog as well as a fresh start. I'll be doing my research tomorrow Tin and I have a feeling that I might be able to find some graphics, or at least some schematic drawings. ^^;;

Anime marathon today ^__^ (Jubei-chan 1-13 (all), may be Twin Signal or Utena movie...we'll see...should be interesting (a few people coming over). Eeek...I should clean...like now...as they'll probably be over in about 50 minutes O_o.

Indeed...now that everything is finished with...I can actually take a vacation to read and enjoy myself for the next two weeks.
