mooses are called mooses 'cause they go "MOOSE" Saturday, 1.31.04 :: 07:35 p.m.

Sperm whale explodes in Taiwan! Those crazy Asians, let me tell you. Read the part about why they were so interested in this whale.

That being said,
YES, WE ARE COMING BACK!
So that was a pretty hard secret to keep, and thanks to the people I did tell for keeping my "secret." Don't ask me why it had to be a secret, but thanks anyway :) For anyone who's interested, here's the schedule that I'll probably have:

1. Spanish 4
2. Drawing 2
3. Gym/Study hall
4. Precalc CPA
5. English 3 CPA
6. Physics 1 CPA
7. US Studies CPA

In my opinion, this is an awesome schedule - I know I have a bunch of classes with some AWESOME people, but email and tell me if we have similar schedules! It's like getting schedules in the summer all over again!

Hmm, what else? Oh, I'm really tired. Like whoa. Gah. I've got way too much to do, and thank goodness we don't have school till Tuesday. Hopefully some more snow will hit and we'll get Tuesday off too. Heart snow.

Everyone better watch the Superbowl tomorrow and watch the Pats kick some southern butt! I think it's insane that the football season lasts this long, but hey, that's just me. Well, that's pretty much it, definitely call me if you want to talk, because I'M COMING BACK. HAHAHA!!!!! Oh, and if you know of anyone who's thinking about selling their house, let me know, 'cause we're in the market ;)

HAHAHA Wednesday, 1.28.04 :: 01:59 p.m.

They "waived" exams. But they didn't tell us that until this morning at 8. I really do need to learn to quit freaking out about stuff like this, 'cause it all ends up working out in the end anyway. :D It's very windy out, I'm not looking forward to driving over the Bay Bridge in this, meh. But let's see, maybe I'll see some of you guys this wkend! Or possibly in school tomorrow or Friday... I have to come talk to Mrs. Pranitis (sp?). We're totally coming BACK! I mean, what?

sigh Wednesday, 1.28.04 :: 12:23 a.m.

Am screwed. Would like to suddenly get the 24 hour flu or something. Or at least pretend to.

[EDIT]

Way to go! I have strangely mixed feelings about that. However, am still going to fail all midterms tomorrow. BUT THEN IT'S ON TO YORK!

thy mother Tuesday, 1.27.04 :: 10:09 p.m.

So. Two snow days and many naps later, I'm screwed if I have exams tomorrow. Because a) I don't have anything to study, since this school is ass backwards in the way it does things (don't ask), b) I'm a lazy bum, and c) I don't understand Math. Yes, the capital letter is back, mainly because of sheer terror. Also, I received much paper in the mail today: stuff from Davidson, Lafayette and Washington University in St. Louis. Washington has a problem with sending things in the mail, they like it too much. I've requested to be taken off their mailing list, but apparently that hasn't taken effect yet. Bah. Tree killers.

In other news, financial aid for college is complicated and silly, but hopefully good. Also, I'll be in York tomorrow night, so call my cell to see what's up ;) Oh, and wish me luck for these silly exams tomorrow. Or just pray for another snow day for me, that'd be good too.

oy, tired Monday, 1.26.04 :: 08:43 p.m.

I shoveled the entire driveway today. And didn't study for anything, or start my paper like I've been planning to! But, SNOW! I really missed it. Mom and I had a little muddy buddy mix party, and I danced with Bob. He's a happy phish. Hmm, and Bennett is kind of bad at letting students know what's up with exam schedules. Oh well, at least I have an excuse for not studying now, right?

what's cooler than being ice cold? Saturday, 1.24.04 :: 08:27 p.m.

Hey Ya Charlie Brown!

I also have to call your attention to this, in case you haven't seen it yet. Apparently people at Princeton DO have a sense of humor! J/k, j/k :) Vote for them on mtv.com, and get that video played on trl!

France, WTF?

minya zavoot awesome Friday, 1.23.04 :: 04:01 p.m.

Today I:

1. Was hit on by two middle school kids. I walked over to the the middle school so I wouldn't have to wait for Mom for 20 minutes in the high school's lobby, and on my way over these two random black guys (I'm guessing they were like 13 or 14) asked me which one of them I thought was better looking. Me, being the wonderfully nice person that I am, answered with a witty comment along the lines of, "Oh, I dunno, you're both pretty handsome." Note to self: never say anything like that to two random middle schoolers. God, I should know better. I continued walking, only this time I was followed by whistles, cat-calls, etc... Bleh.

2. KICKED MY ENGLISH EXAM'S METAPHORICAL ASS.

3. Got a math (notice - no capital letter! No more respect and awe for things I don't know!) test back, WHICH I ALSO KICKED METAPHORICAL ASS ON.

4. MORE KICKING ASS ON THE ENGLISH OUTLINE.

5. Almost broke my ass falling down the stairs. These were steep stairs, mind you.

6. Was called a mexican, and offered a bribe. Didn't take it, even though it was probably rightfully mine. Remember that rant about the gas stations stealing two cents? Yeah... Gave Faizan (sp?) MY two cents on that one.

7. Learned that "hate isn't a strong word like... KABOOM! Now THAT'S a strong word!"

;)

bah-woo! Wednesday, 1.21.04 :: 11:59 p.m.

PROCRASTINATION.
Nosedive past the 350 mark, baby. Beat that.

Duke game = yum. Redick = awesome. English paper thingy = done done and DONE. Nothing else is done though, and I still need a shower. Also, I love ESPN's commercials. But answer me this: how is it that the guy in the wing master commercial has perfectly white teeth, but has sauce stuff all over his face?

i don't FEAR the turtle, i laugh at him! Wednesday, 1.21.04 :: 03:58 p.m.

Mmm, college bball. 9 tonight me hearties. All who laugh at the turtle say "Aye aye!" Yeah, had to get that out of my system. Bad day-o... the kid who has the locked next to me must have some major B.O. 'Cause, well, HIS LOCKER SMELLS LIKE IT. Ewww. And who cares what percentage of blacks/whites were considered to be republicans in like 1972? Not me!

One hell of a lot of work to do tonight. Food, nap, WHAM - work. Hopefully to be finished by 9.

P.S. How about that State of the Union? Kinda made me sick at a few parts.

i shake my fist at thee and thou Tuesday, 1.20.04 :: 09:29 p.m.

You are 24% geek
OK, so maybe you ain't a geek. You do, at least, show a bit of interest in the world around you. Either that, or you have enough of a sense of humor to pick some of the sillier answers on the test. Regardless, you're probably a pretty nifty, well-rounded person who gets along fine with people and can chat with just about anyone without fear of looking stupid or foolish or overly concerned with minutiae. God, I hate you.

Take the Polygeek Quiz at Thudfactor.com

Well-rounded my ass. Haha, was going to crack a joke about that, but it could be taken the wrong way. And that is bad.

OMG WORK. OMG MY COAT DOESN'T FIT. Ow, paper cut. Olé!

I read, I bullshit, I eat, I sleep. I miss you!

shiz Monday, 1.19.04 :: 08:56 p.m.

I have nothing interesting to say, except for the fact that I am screwed. English exam on Friday that I kinda, uh, forgot about until today. TEH SHIT! That and the outline for my compare/contrast paper is due on Thurs, along with the revised Tess bib. Oh, have I mentioned what I'm comparing? Dante's "Divine Comedy" and Milton's "Paradise Lost." Oh for the love of Christ, why am I so stupid? Uggggh. Can't I just sit in a corner and read for a while? Speaking of reading, I have to get back to my 100+ pages to skim/highlight on Dante and Milton. That wasn't the kind of reading I had in mind.

But Celtic music is happy.

And so are ring-tones. Like Linus and Lucy, Secret Agent Man, Ignition Remix, El Scorcho... yum!

Hamlet, Hamlet loved his mammy
Hamlet, Hamlet actin' balmy
Hamlet, Hamlet hesitatin'
Wonders if the ghost's a cheat and that is how he's waitin'

Hamlet, Hamlet nae messin'
Hamlet, Hamlet learnt his lesson
Hamlet, Hamlet, Yorick's crust
Convinced him that men, good or bad, at last must come to dust

Hamlet, Hamlet, aw the gory
Hamlet, Hamlet, end of story
Hamlet, Hamlet, Ah'm away
If you think this is borin' ye should read the bloody play

Did I mention that I love Celtic music?

smells like superbowl! Sunday, 1.18.04 :: 06:30 p.m.

THE PATS ARE BAAACK!

Smackdown. Totally. This is a dynasty! Hehe, now we wait on the Eagles v. Panthers game. If the Eagles win, whatever will I do? Pats by choice, Eagles by heritage, hmmm.

"France you are my country..." Saturday, 1.17.04 :: 08:24 p.m.

Does this make anyone else angry? The whole issue is just reminding me why I don't like the French government. Jacques Chirac and all of his buddies need to get that stick out of their collective ass and realize that hey, a hell of a lot of people are pretty mad at you right now, over something that makes no sense. Maybe they got too caught up in the "veil is a jail" motto that came out of the war in Afghanistan, so now they're "liberating" their Muslim women? But wait, they're trying to ban ALL religious symbols! Way to go, Civil Right R Us. Let's just keep taking steps backwards instead of learning to live together. I love the closing sentence in that article, too: "Some Muslim leaders in France say the proposed law has already led to an increase in insults and acts of aggression against veiled women and those wearing headscarves in the street." It's not a jail until you make it one, geez.

1984's already passed, but we can still get there.

And now, back to my research and cleaning.

took her for a drink on tuesday Friday, 1.16.04 :: 07:01 p.m.

Suffering from the infamous "antsies." That's Mom speak, but hey, it works. I need physical activit-tay! Situps, pushups and free weight lifting with 10 lb weights just doesn't cut it. I need to be outside running until I collapse! Runner's high is an amazing thing, and I miss it. Considering the freezing weather outside, however, I won't get a chance to run for a while, and this is bad for a number of reasons. Need. To. Do. Something. Alright, so I'd settle for a day at the beach too, but that's beside the point.

Lura has a thing for CDs. She just got one on like Wednesday, and she got 2 the wkend before, and a bunch for Xmas, but she just asked me if I "want to go to the mall." Translation: drive me so I can get a CD. And after the way she's been acting? Pssh, sorry hon. Sometimes I remind myslef of father dearest. Scary, scary scary. Just a thought, how many of you have actually seen my dad in the last, say, 5 years? Do you even remember what he looks like?

Oh, and I think I broke my boom box. Hehe, I had it in the bathroom with me while I was taking a shower, and I think I got water on it somehow. It made this "OOOOOOOOOOHhhhhhhhhhhhhhMMMRrrrhhhhhhhftttthhhhhh" noise then died. Maybe it'll get better later, weee!

i'm sorry, that doughnut was filled with jelly, not jam Thursday, 1.15.04 :: 11:43 p.m.

Omg so windy outside. So cold, too! I'm very glad I (finally) ordered a coat, for $40 too! Haha, like I would spend $100 when I can spend $40. I rock. :) Made yet another BN run tonight, instead of doing work (haHA I hate school!) - and sat down at a table across from these SU kids, I think. The girls were plastered with makeup, and the guys were super trendy with their graphic Ts and bright green sneakers. They were very annoying, about as superficial as you can get without becoming artificial sweetener. Good example: the girls don't think that girls should wear pants, and they were discussing how they would never even consider marrying a guy who didn't have blond hair, blue eyes, and a 6-digit salary. Mmm mmm, doesn't get much better than that! Also: they had those really strange looking lines around their jawlines where their foundation stopped. Yuck, distracting. Egad, I'm becoming one of those girls who analyzes other girls! MUST STOP!

Came home to ER, a comfy couch, and a phone call from Bridget! Yay! Thailand (land of the thousand-and-one shopping centers!) sounds sooo awesome, I can't wait to see pics :)

~trying not to think too much

"leave me ALONE, I don't CARE." Thursday, 1.15.04 :: 04:09 p.m.

That's the general attitude of a certain person in this household as of late... and it's getting to the point where I would love to smack this person upside the head and scream, "SNAP THE HELL OUT OF IT." I understand, but not enough, I suppose.

June died this morning around five. She's Uncle Daryl's (on Dad's side) mom, and she was just recently told that her cancer had recurred and that she only had a little while to live. However, something was causing her throat to swell, so she couldn't eat. She'd been in the hospital for a while, but the doctors couldn't get their act together long enought to put a tube into her stomach so she wouldn't starve to death. So, this amazing woman, who's been fighting various types of cancer for a long time, starved to death in a hospital. Anger is rearing its ugly head. I didn't know her very well, but I have lots of happy memories of sitting on her lap during Thanksgiving, or listening to her play the piano or tell stories. And she starved to death. Rest in peace, June, you deserve it.

Schedule: homework, read/nap (!), homework, clean, homework, dinner, SAT shiz, probably more homework, then sleep. Come break up the monotony? <3

drab wednesday Wednesday, 1.14.04 :: 10:29 p.m.

Apparently, if I've been waiting for this for a year, a couple more weeks is nothing. Right.

Now I'm reading The Fountainhead, currently on page one. It's such an intimidating book! I mean, I did read Atlas Shrugged (good stuff), but I read the "smaller version." The one that's not a foot tall and 4 inches thick. Granted, that thing has some tiny print, is actually longer than Fountainhead, and probably helped me along on my inevitable journey to blindess through reading, but it was nowhere close to being as intimidating as this honker of a book is. I'm thinking that maybe I'll read it this year, but attempt to do that scholarship thing next year. I'll do the Dorian Gray one now. Much smaller = easier.

So! Want to learn how to swear in russian with me? Follow along, kiddies:

blin! -------------- shit!
vali otsyuda! ----- f-ck off!
dostal ------------- you pissed me off
zadnitza ---------- ass, butt
zatknis'! ---------- shut up!
kakogo chyorta! - what the hell!

And then there's I love you: ya tebya lyublyu

Yay! But apparently Pitas doesn't like russian characters. Hmm

Now I clean my room and pray for snow.

a monday night without a light Monday, 1.12.04 :: 10:40 p.m.

My computer is moving ridiculously slowly. It has the reaction time of a husky drunk man (pedo!) about to experience a near-death experience. Also, the light bulbs in both of my lamps just broke. And I mean BROKE! Glass everywhere... ick.

Nothing else to say really, except that, Mom, I don't want to sit through another do-nothing day at school. I'm far too busy reading. :)

"The aim of life is self-development. To realize one's nature perfectly - that is what each of us is here for."

"...life itself was the first, the greatest, of the arts, and for it all the other arts seemed to be but a preparation." - The Picture of Dorian Gray

"The fact is always obvious much too late, but the most singular difference between happiness and joy is that happiness is a solid and joy is a liquid." - Nine Stories

of icing and asians Sunday, 1.11.04 :: 03:48 p.m.

It was Laura's birfday yesterday... and she celebrated by mixing the icing on her plate until it was green-poop looking, and by refusing to play Rummy with Joe and me. The icing was gross, and I lost the card game to Joe, by a lot. Hehe. As I type I'm staring at one of Joe's hairs that is sitting on the top of my keyboard. It's so lonely.

Mom's smoking again. Everyone call her and give her moral support - tell her she smells bad! :)

AZN-ness!. I can't stop watching that. It's so cool.

bweedle dee dee Wednesday, 1.7.04 :: 09:25 p.m.

You know what I miss? I miss getting up at 5 AM before school in middle school to watch Beast Wars. I LOVE that show. I don't think it's on in the morning anymore (if at all?!), but I'd like to find a cartoon that would be a nice incentive for getting up early, then actually get up and watch it. While eating cereal and milk. So, that's my New Years resolution... I think it's the first one I've ever made, so go me :) Tomorrow's Thursday! And Joe's visiting! Snow, please come so I don't have to go to school on Friday...

I got a fever, AND THE ONLY PRESCRIPTION IS MORE COWBELL!

Omg the awesome. Give me a second.

point in case Wednesday, 1.7.04 :: 12:47 a.m.

I really didn't want to be in the house this afternoon after school for some reason (haha, some reason), so I left and went to Targét and BN. I heart BN, they have 2004 calendars for half price, so I bought a Lonely Planet one. Such purdy pictures! Anyway, then I (had to) come home around 7, and somehow I ACTUALLY DID MY PRECALC HOMEWORK. Some freak angel totally just got its wings. Who cares if I didn't know how to do half of it! Sidenote: I taught Mom how to play Rummy 500, and now I can't beat her. It is most frustrating.

I'm learning Russian in Spanish class. While watching Family Guy... not in Spanish. The name of the class should be changed to "Slacker 101."

Dear Neuter Weather Entity (aka Mr. Snow),
Please pay our poor snow-deprived penninsula a substantial visit sometime between 12 am and 5 am on Friday. I think a snow day is in order. Please?
Hopefuly yours,
Lindsay B. Trice

holy crapoli! Monday, 1.5.04 :: 05:38 p.m.

You know you want to sssee how pretty Ring looks on my toe, you know you do!

Pitas just ate another entry. Gah, what am I gonna do with you, Pitas?

There is a roll of toilet paper sitting on my desk for some reason. And I'm too lazy to move it, weee! I really wish my computer could play DVDs, but apparently it doesn't have the chip thingy it needs. Or something. It's seriously impeding my Two Towers extended edition viewing experience, since Mother is asleep on the couch downstairs, not to be disturbed.

Also, I ate greek food this afternooon. Well, orzo and a motzerella stick. Is that how you spell that? I'm too lazy to think about it. Yay for the effects of long winter breaks! They always end much too soon.

Live long and prosper, me hearties.

My mother is walking around with glasses on. They only have one earpiece, so she looks fairly funny. About 10 seconds ago, she attempted to break my glasses and throw me down the stairs in a jealous rage, all while cackling hideously.

Well, actually, I ran into her, popped one of the lenses out, hurt my nose, and then almost fell backward down the stairs. It's waaaaay too late. But we're going to York today! Weeeeee! At least, that's what the plan is now, it's subject to change. On a dime, at that. Or according to father's will. Or Laura's temper. Or all of the above.

Yes, buoyed is a verb.

In conclusion, it's really late, and though I'm really tired I think I'll go eat something. Because I can.

Omg. Pitas just ate this brilliant entry I had. Am v. pissed off. BUT IT'S OK! Will just bombard you with Will Ferrell-nnes, and tell you to go raid Wal-Mart for $15 Pearl Jam concert cds. Three disks, mind you. Anyhow, Will! more Will! WILLLLLL!. That'll be all. Happy New Year :)
