Mr. Hammett, my government/economics teacher, was in a car accident today. And he came to school anyway, because he said there was no way to get someone here to teach us what he needed to teach us on such short notice. I believe he is in some pain.

I think I will let this statement speak for itself.

And amazingly enough, I did not bomb my Economics test. It was, in fact, much easier than I expected. This is good.

I am almost done studying my allotted chapters for the EcoHunt. This is also good.

I finished my outside reading book logs and the deadline was moved to Monday. This is good.

. . . things are going far too well.

On the bright side, I have finished reading and logging Obasan, the logs for which are due Friday.

. . . but I have an economics test tomorrow that I'm so not ready for and four chapters of botany to study.

I weep now.

Arrrgh so hungry. I read this website about the difference between British, American, and Egyptian pancakes and now I'm even hungrier. And crave pancakes.

And also, ARGH!!!

I foolishly volunteered for the EcoHunt about two weeks ago. This means that for the past two weeks, Dr. Jang has owned my soul. The three AP Bio student "volunteers" for the EcoHunt are now, uh, somewhat behind. Not because we're focusing solely on studying botany for the EcoHunt, although that's part of it. We're behind because Dr. Jang is not letting us take the tests. The class took the chapter seventeen test yesterday. He kicked us out and made us study in the library. They're having a test tomorrow. We will, again, be kicked out and made to study in the library.

If we get first place, I think Dr. Jang will probably just pass us on the tests or something. If we don't? . . . heads will roll, my friends. Heads will roll.

So my dad's having a mahjong game. This is fine. I don't mind it except that, uh, it usually means that I don't get dinner until really late because they forget to eat. But that's fine. I can scrounge something up if I'm desperate enough.

I finally get dinner around nine o' clock. After a frenzied eating session (I'm eating in the computer room), my dad asks me to clean up the kitchen and throw out the garbage. I say, "Okay!"

When I actually saw the mess they left, my only response was "Jesus Christ." At least I didn't have to mop the floor. It could probably stand it, but that would have taken too much time.

To make matters worse, someone has been smoking in my bathroom. I do not endure cigarette smoke well. It irritates my lungs and makes me cough at best and makes me gag and feel nauseous at worst. To make matters worse, whoever it is leaves ash on the toilet seat.

So, today I watched the first two episodes of Rose of Versailles. It's. . . quite excellent. I was a little surprised. I'm not much of an old sk00ler when it comes to anime, although that may be because most of said old sk00l stuff was dubbed on TV. I went into Rose of Versailles not really knowing what it was about, although I knew it was what they called a "classic." After the first episode, I was hooked. The animation, of course, is not "ooo wow gorgeous," but it's not particularly painful to look at. The characters are well-done. I particularly like Oscar and her friend André. Their dynamic works really well. I have the half-hope that André will fall in love with her, but if it doesn't happen, well, they're perfectly good friends and that's the way it should be. Unfortunately, now that Oscar's taken the job of Marie Antoinette's protecter, André seems to have fallen into the background.

And boy, now I know what they mean when they say Utena was heavily influenced by Rose of Versailles! I'm hit over the head with it every three minutes. Besides the obvious similarities between Oscar and Utena, there's the whole fencing thing, and one of the guys--I forget his name--reminds me forcefully of Touga in his arrogance and bearing. Then there's the clothes; Oscar's uniform is almost exactly the same as Utena's dueling outfit.

Marie Antoinette needs to jump off a cliff and die. I didn't expect her to be half this annoying. I mean, the real life Marie Antoinette said, of the rioting peasants, "If they have no bread, let them eat cake," so I didn't expect her to be likable. But still, that doesn't mean she has the right to be such a ditz. I can't imagine the above quote coming out of her mouth at all, she's such an airheaded ninny. Gah.

Wow, that was the worst rehearsal I've ever had. I may decide to bury myself in a hole in the ground simply out of shame.

For one thing, we were arranged differently. Usually the strings are on the floor, and the wind instruments on the risers. But instead, today Mr. Fulbright put all of us on the floor and himself on the risers so that we were facing in a different direction. I couldn't see him very well because of the oboe player in front of me. >_<

There were two horns today. Mr. Fulbright dragged in the fourth horn from PYMA to "boost" us or something, as well as a bass player, another cello player, and some random flute players. The cello player was funny. He made wry remarks. And he had a floppy hat. Melody, the other horn player, was lost half the time because she was sightreading all the music. ^^;; I wasn't much help because for some reason, today I just could not play. To make matters worse, my lips gave out way before they usually do--I don't even know why, it wasn't as if I'd played anything particularly difficult--and I couldn't hit half the notes in the last piece we rehearsed. **sigh**

I think Mr. Fulbright jinxed it. Apparently there'd been some oddness going on before rehearsal (I didn't see it, as I came in five minutes before rehearsal began, later than I usually do), and then we bombed the first piece we rehearsed--argh. Then he said something to the effect of, "Well, it can't get any worse!" and you just know that it will get worse. Murphy's Law dictates it.

I'm going to put this down here so I don't forget. Next week, rehearsal begins at 4:30 and ends at 7:00!

I do believe that a great deal of anime/manga fans are currently very pissed at CLAMP for what they're doing with X. I wasn't among them before, because I, er, wasn't really paying attention to X. ^^;; But today I visited tsuriai.net and caught up on the Asuka installments, and now I am ideed very angry at CLAMP. It seems like after they killed off Seishirou and had Subaru switch sides, they completely forgot what they were doing. "Okay, so now Seishirou's dead and Subaru's on the bad guy side! . . . what were we doing again? Oh crap, we're almost out of tarot cards, I guess we'd better get this wrapped up. Let's decide who dies by drawing names out of a hat!"

Grr. And yet, out of some sort of perverse masochistic pleasure, I know I'll continue to follow X. I'll just. . . stop buying the manga. I still don't know why I bought volume nineteen.

Although admittedly, I want the March Asuka simply because it has a card of wet Kamui. I wonder if I can still find it?

MIDOU BAAAAAAAAAAAANNN!

Ahem. **just finished watching episode 8 of Get Backers**

There is het in Get Backers. No het really involving Midou Ban or Ginji yet, thank goodness, but quite obvious het involving Shido and Madoka. They're kind of cute, although I find Madoka to be something of a twit. But it could be worse.

ARRRRRRRRGH. I canceled going out with Rachel's family because Jean said she wanted to work on our Science Fair project this weekend. Then when I called her today, she said this weekend we could do research on our own and meet next weekend. **pounds head against desk**

. . . oh well. It's probably for the best.

Holy shit, it's March already? o_O
