I'm home for two days, and then I'm off to AnimExpo 2003. I'm bringing basically enough money for food this year, because a) I'm poor and b) anything I buy will just be more trouble for myself as I pack for college. I must keep this in mind.

. . . well, maybe I'll buy a few manga.

Dammit, I'm doomed.

Edit: Stuff we need to bring to AnimExpo

- beach towels
- blanket(s)
- pillow(s)
- munchies
- money (HAHAHAHAHA)
- cellphones
- jacket
- camera

. . . I think that might be it.

I just had a very bizarre dream involving snow, a pheonix, missing furniture, and Matthew from the Bible.

Maybe I need more sleep.

Finished the fifth Harry Potter book today, rather quicker than I meant to. There were some parts where the pacing was slow enough that I could safely put the book down and wander away to do something else, and then other bits where I cursed myself for not being able to read fast enough. Spoiler-y bits can be found at my livejournal.

There are times when I wish I were still in Chicago. Having to wake up early and sit around alertly to answer the phone and let people in is one of them. This summer's going to be very rotten if I spend all of it sitting at home in case brokers come with potential buyers.

I'm home! And now that I'm done surprising people, I shall tell the world that my hair is pink. Well, parts of it are pink, and parts of it are copper. It looks pretty nifty, if I say so myself. Dagger did a really good job.

And now, I have a gigantic to-do list. I probably won't get any of it done before AnimExpo, but eh.

- call Kristine about seling my furniture
- finish packing
- get Harry Potter books back from Linda
- talk to Gen about meeting up
- catch up on comics
- catch up on blogs
- read fifth Harry Potter book
- send immunization info/passport-size photos to Mills
- dig around in the couch for spare change for AnimExpo money
- mug people for AnimExpo money

I think that's about it. More shall be added to the list as they come to me.

RenFaire much fun yesterday. I was quite unable to buy anything because, uh, I'm out of money. I mean, unless I want to walk back from the airport or something. But it was fun even though I wasn't able to spend exorbitant amounts of money. I do plan to order a medallion and a Minstrels of Mayhem CD, though. Eventually.

I'm attending Mass today!

Today will be spent lounging around and, quite probably, passing around a piece of paper on which to RP on. We're such gigantic dorks. I love it.

I'm going to be all lonely when I go home. Wah.

Dagger wants me to move to Chicago. I'm sorely tempted.

Watched Spirited Away and the Cowboy Bebop movie last night. Both movies were muchly enjoyed, even if the CB movie kills you with symbolism and pretty cinematography. Butterflies have never been so twitchy.

Today will probably consist of shopping at thrift stores and throwing together costumes, as I do not have a costume for RenFaire.

Amber was looking over my shoulder again. Or rather, my head. Say hi to Amber.

Went to Chinatown yesterday. Felt not like an ethnic minority. Chinatown had all my favorite things in one place! Could not find durian. Alas. Did, however, buy tons of Pocky and other associated Asian snacks, including wasabi peas. Mmmm, wasabi goodness. Amber would like to mention that she's a Pocky whore, as she nearly bought out the store on her own.

Stayed up late and watched Adult Swim. The text messages between the shows are hilarious. Especially the ones for Reign: The Conqueror. Cooooodpieces!

Dagger's family is very nice. Dagger-papa has a wicked sense of humor, and my new Polish mommy feeds us all sorts of delightful food. I had blueberry-banana pancakes for breakfast this morning.

Went to the beach today. Swam in Lake Michigan. Climbing up dunes not fun. Swimming in water MUCH FUN. Kit is not actually a fox, but a dolphin. I am an iruka. Excuse me while Naruto fans roll their eyes at me.

A memorable quote from Lake Michigan (from Dagger, who does not like cold water): "These are my tits and they they hate you."

We just spent like an hour watching BoA tapes--namely, of Dagger's school. GEMR, feel shame. If I am lucky, I will procure copies and you will all feel deeply inclined to commit honorable suicide before we get any worse. Argh.

I'm in Chicago! I'm not dead! And for once, Illinois is actually hotter than southern California!

Everyone says I type fast. I think this is because they're all on crack. And also, this keyboard is going to drive me insane. And also, the is next to the shift key for some reason and I keep hitting it every time I try to capitalize something.

Amber's behind me. Or was. Say hi, everyone!

I no longer think that I am going to get lost and die in LAX, where my bones will never be found. I am now reasonably sure that if I get lost, I will not die, but will go insane, trapped in the bowels of an airport the size of a small city.

However, should I survive and continue on to Midway airport, those who wish to find me will look for a short, fat Asian girl wearing a white baseball cap, a white T-shirt with a wolf on it, and a blue Hawaiian shirt. Thank you.

My dad's asking for 420,000 for the house. He's talking about moving back to Malaysia, or possibly to China. Out of state, anyway.

I feel kind of numb. I think it's funny that people say I'm moving so far away for college, when in reality my father's the one who's leaving everything and everyone behind.

It hasn't really sunk in that I'm leaving for Chicago tomorrow.

[Edit: Three people/families have come to see the house and it's only been forty minutes. Ye gods. And I know it's stupid and racist, but I almost hope a white person buys the house, because I'm pretty sure an Asian family will tear this down and build a huge mansion on top of it.]

So, er, yes. I'm leaving for Chicago on Monday to attend DaggerCon'03.

Four bags have gone into the garbage so far. Mostly paper. Cleaning like this has the ability to make you just a little bit sad, as you realize how much exactly you really need or want to keep. So far, the only real keepers are a) my books and b) other people's crap that I need to return. Come and get your stuff, people!

Losmeiya's been invaluable. Apparently she's quite used to this sort of thing. She's watching Naruto right now. She's also acquired quite a few things from me, from old French horn music to brand-new folders and notebooks. Haha. This is what happens when you clean with me.

Most of my books have gone into boxes. I hope I won't feel any sort of great urge to read a specific title during the summer.

Hey world--or, more accurately, my RL friends--I'm packing right now. Yes, that's right, I'm packing, and school's barely ended. This is because my dad's selling the house like, this summer, so I'm packing the stuff I want to keep so my dad knows what he can sell.

Do you know what this means, world? Yes, this means I need my crap back! So if you have anything of mine--or, alternatively, if you have anything you want to give me--then give it to me ASAP, or forever hold your peace. Or, rather, risk me coming after you with sharp, painful implements of torture. Thanks.
