My social life shall now go down the drain
I took pictures but uploading them takes time, which I don't really have at the moment. The actual National Day falls next week... Right smack in the middle of my term tests. The relatives will be coming over. How on earth am I going to study in peace?! Or even study at all?! This only means that my entire weekend is completely gone. GAH. I can't wait for school to be over! Blog post end time: 11.51pm ![]() I wish I could do that
Some of my friends might come over this Saturday. They asked a week ago but I've yet to hear if they've made up their minds to come. Ah well, whatever. I'll probably be studying (or trying to) if they don't come. Stupid tests and exams coming up soon. The end of this semester draws near, which means that I need to pick a new GEM (General Elective Module) again. Bah. I need one from the "Business" category but there are so few good ones. I'd probably need ice cream theraphy if I end up with something ultra crappy. Damn, I'm hungry now but it's too late to eat anything. Grr. Blog post end time: 1.48am Note to self: Do CRS book reviews and CT site report. ![]() SP Chess Open 2006 aftermath
The event was pretty messed up on the first day. Many people were confused or clueless and the event itself started late. There were quite a few arguments and temper tantrums, some of which I was at the receiving end of. I won't go into detail here, since there were apologies dealt out as well. The second day was smoother since we didn't have the speed games, but I was pretty stressed because I had been picked to be the emcee for prize presentation. Although I had an outline of my script already done up, I received the winners list barely minutes before we had informed the audience that it was going to begin. It was made worse by the fact that it didn't tally with my own list, but we hadn't the time to check. This ended up with me screwing up a few times (actually many, but noone seemed to care much). As usual, it turns out that my volume wasn't very loud due to me not speaking into the microphone properly but I didn't find out about it until the whole thing was already over. I didn't really have the appetite to eat anything before I started helping to pack up. There were a lot of mini cheesecake slices left over though, so I promptly packed some to bring home (mostly intended as a peace-offering to my parents for coming home late again but I don't think they really noticed). We had lots of heavy items to move back to the clubroom but too few people to make it in one trip. My seniors decided to be innovative and piled the heavier stuff into a shopping cart (which they'd "forgotten" to return to the store earlier). And then two of them got on a motorcycle and drove off towards the clubroom, the pillion rider dragging the cart along. It actually worked (would have taken a picture, but it was too dark) and they did the same thing to the rolling whiteboard. The poor whiteboard can no longer roll properly anymore. Everyone was pretty tired out by the end of the day. I can say that I really learned a lot from this whole thing but never again am I going to spend my Sunday in school. Edit: Oh yeah, the shirt was in plain black. Yay. Blog post end time: 9.01pm ![]() Heh
Friday, July 21 (11.30 am): So soon is now... I'm in school at the moment. My project group is at another computer working on our projects. I feel like I'm slacking a lot this term. One day I'll treat these guys to something sweet (noone had better say no!). I'd like to blog more, but I've yet to upload the pictures that I want to post. The Pitas.com server (the site that hosts this blog) is also acting strangely, having random downtimes with no announcements about it whatsoever. I guess it's just a problem on their end. Hopefully there won't be a sad repeat of that time when it went down for a few months. So what else is happening with me? I'm helping out at the SP Chess Open 2006, which is this weekend. I don't exactly have a choice in the matter since I'm in the SP Mind Sport committee. I don't really mind that much though, since I'll get CCA points, a shirt (albeit in a lurid colour, from what I've heard so far) and free lunch. Who could turn down free lunch? Updates: Added a link to Kaya's Blog. It's over there in the Links out - blogs section. For those wondering, I know Kaya from the Dreamtrails Forum. She's great fun to talk to and is a great artist (and by great I mean awesome). I hope she'll link me back! And now off to lunch before I help out at preparations for the SP Chess Open... The school computer is booting me off too, anyway. ![]() Mmm... Laksa
Anyway, more about that day at Bugis (when I bought my jeans). Karen brought us to eat Bugis Katong Laksa. I would assume that would be Katong Laksa, but in Bugis instead. Which is kind of strange since I live nearby to the "real" Katong Laksa.
Tired, will blog more another time. Pic hosting site is giving me problems too. ![]() I hate wearing safety boots
My plant-sitting job seems to be going pretty well so far. None of the plants are dead or dying so I take that as a good sign. I hope the other neighbours I don't talk to don't think I'm breaking in. That would be pretty awkward. I've got long days for the rest of the week... I guess I'll just be lazy today. ![]() Shopping is fun when you get what you're looking for
My neighbours left yesterday morning, so that was the first day of my plant-watering job. I didn't really have to do much today, since it rained. I met up with my cousin John to go to another cousin's surprise birthday party. It was kind of fun to actually see them for something else besides family reunions. My camera has been malfunctioning a bit lately. I think the battery chamber is a little spoilt, so it doesn't read the batteries sometimes, causing it to suddenly shut down. It'd better not act like that when I need it most. I went shopping yesterday at Bugis street with my project group. DJ wasn't free though, so he didn't go. I bought myself a new pair of jeans. I really like it because it's more fitting than my old ones. My mother didn't react very well to them at first ("Low-waisted jeans? Low-waisted jeans?!"). My father was a little surprised about it too, but it only took a few minutes for their freaking-out to be over. I don't know how my parents can be fine with my short skirts but implode at the thought of low-waisted clothing. The best conclusion I can come up with is that my parents are strange and I can only hope it's not something hereditary. Anyhow, I got myself those t-strap shoes I've been hunting for for quite a while now. They only cost me $9.90! Some day I have to go back to Bugis and stock up on more cheap stuff. I probably need to go to Far East and get myself a belt to go with my new jeans. Guess I might pop over there by myself one of these days. ![]() Plant-sitting
Looks like some morning activity is good for you. To answer the question of how I am going to get in (I'm suprised at how many people asked), they're lending me their house-keys. Yes, people actually trust me with important stuff like that. -.- I feel a little drained since I had a couple of meetings straight after school. Stupid thing was that their timings clashed, so I was super late for the second one. I ended up staying back in school with the rest of the Mind Sport committee to sort through the SP Chess Open trophies. By the time I got home, dinner had already been kept away. Being the lazy (and tired) person I was, I just grabbed any random thing from the fridge. That was about an hour ago and I'm hungry again. Everyone knows I get cranky when I'm hungry... Also known as a very, very bad time to choose to talk to me. And then I typed a very long paragraph about someone choosing the wrong time to be emo at me but I decided it wasn't worth posting. Some things are better ranted in person. Blog post end time: 1.30am ![]() Updates Updated the link to the Gambit fanlisting. Look under Fanlistings on the bottom right.
Also, as you may have noticed, I made some minor changes to the right side of the page, such as changing the font colour of some headings. ![]() Need to read
I don't have classes until after lunch, but I'm still getting up really early so I can get some stuff done. I guess I'll sleep now and leave my reading for tomorrow or something. I miss talking to Raphael. I hope his internet gets fixed really soon. At least you guys know that my going on screensaver mode in class for the past week can't be blamed on him, heh. Sleep now... Blog post end time: 11:01pm ![]() Bring me to that rainbow already
The first thing I do when I wake up is to switch my phone on. I did the same today, and lo and behold, I received a nice message that perked me up for most of the day. You know who you are, thanks a lot. :) You know exactly what I need to cheer up. Now, if only the game radio station would stop playing sad acapella songs... *turns it off* There, much better. ^^ (I swear, if I hear one more cover of Over the Rainbow...) ![]() Term test results
The MBW teacher actually hadn't calculated our marks yet. It was only after some pleading from the class that she whipped out her calculator and quickly gave us each a figure. Those standing around her desk could only stare impressed as her fingers turned into a blur on the calculator (and she wasn't even looking at it!). When she was done, a few people asked if she would teach us the skill of speed-calculating, but she simply laughed. Imagine all the time I would save if I could do that... Anyway, enough about that. Moving on to my results. ACC & FIN: 74%
I'm generally happy with what I got (I didn't fail anything this time!). Now I just have to try my best to do the same at the end of this semester (which is sometime in August). ![]() Late summary
