Ah. Welcome to the joys of Spring Break. Whohooo. It's so terribly relaxing over here. Sure, I'm not in Florida or California or some tropical place in the middle of nowhere, but I would bake like a potato there anyway. I'm fine here in good ol' MI as it is, especially now that the snow has melted, and the temperatures have boost a little bit from the chilly 20's.

I am proud to record I have done absolutely nothing over break, so far, except for going to a family trip to Toronto, Canada. Being such an intense city, Toronto was not relaxing, but simply, it was fun! I don't ever think I've been anywhere that has such a mentionable Chinese population, except for China. Toronto is bustling with all sorts of diversity. It's so nice to be out of white Grand Haven for a change. For the rest of the break, I plan on catching up with so much that I could not doing a regular school week. Emma should be coming over on Friday, if she feels better, while I am going to chat with Sarah this afternoon, if everything goes according to plan. I expect to finish my AP US homework today, in addiiton to some Science Olympiad stuff I need to take care either today or tomorrow. Too bad no one's online right now. Everyone appears to be in the hot spot for vacation: Florida. Ahhh...the sun. Kudos for now.

Wow! Thank goodness Spring Break is FINALLY here! It is such a relief I get ONE FULL WEEK away from school and pressure. It's somewhat ironic I have more homework from Science Olympiad than actual school homework. Since today was "the day" before Spring Break, nearly 1/2 the student body population was gone, away and relaxing. There are actually two student body trips going out of the country for break to Spain and Germany. Well, since I doesn't affect me, I could care less. Anyways, my break is going to be very relaxing; I feel like I deserve this break more than Christmas and Summer combined. Whohooo! Emma is planning on coming over next week too, so plan on a huge site revamp. Isn't that what they call those--revamps? Anyways, kudos for now.

Mood: Relieved!

I really should put mixed for the mood, but since I've already used that, I don't want to be redundant. I finally have the time to write. Since a bunch of students will be gone early for Spring Vacation from school, teachers are filling in some grrrrrreat last minute tests and quizzes. For example, today, I had the following to worry about: AP US History Test, CP Chemistry Quiz, Algebra II Quiz, and AP English quiz. I fared pretty well. I studied until I started falling asleep last night for AP US, and I did better than I anticipated. The curve was at 48 and I got 44. Not my best, but better than I expected. I got a 24/25 on my vocab quiz, due to a careless error, unfortunately. I believe I did well on the Algebra II quiz, and I did end up acing my Chemistry Unit Quiz. For tomorrow, I have to survive: Spanish test. Considering these are the new grades of the fourth (and FINAL) marking period, I have to make sure they stay at A's.

I am dying waiting for Spring Break. Dos dias mas! Kudos for now.

Grand Haven High School proved once again to be a regional Science Olympiad powerhouse, taking first in Division C. As for the GH middle schools, White Pines and Lakeshore took second and third, respectively. All said, I believe Grand Haven had a very good day. I medaled in Experimental Design (4th place), and since the team took first overall, I got a 1st place medal as well. It was like any other regional tournament. Experimental was not too hard...

I have to respond to a recent guestbook entry. If you find myself and my blog so terribly annoying that you take the time to not only sign the guestbook but also e-mail me, you do not have to go here. This is DENNY'S Utopia for a reason, and only people who actually have an interest in my life are supposed to go here. If you dislike to this great extent, then you do not ever have to come back. Oh, and you do not have to try and scare me. I know mighty well you are not from Grand Haven. Due to some nifty Bravenet services, I have tracked you down to New Jersey. Gloucester County College, in fact. So don't even bother coming back. You're not welcome. Scum need to be treated like scum.

Kudos for now.

Mood: Mixed

Another Friday rolls around. The third marking period came to a screeching halt. I have thankfully maintained all my grades with A's, no stinging blemishes or anything! It makes me overcome with joy. Unfortunately, it looks like it's going to be one of those weekends that I really dislike--too much work. Tomorrow marks the Regional Tournament for the Science Olympiad. I am anxious, but I do look forward to competing. It will take all day tomorrow. Although I do not really have other things to do on my Saturday, I do not look forward to it taking all day tomorrow. We have to be at GHHS at 6:30 AM in the morning! That's even earlier than a schoolday! I do have confidence that GHHS and the middle schools (ya can't forget them) White Pines and Lakeshore are all going to do well. Grand Haven is a regional Science Olympiad powerhouse.

I was talking today about how GHHS doesn't have any minority staff, except for an African American custodian. No teachers or administrators or counselors, or even secretaries, are diverse for that matter. Of course, they claim to be 1/243,465,667 of Native American, but what does that count? I believe if GH hired more diverse staff, then the students would not nearly be as ignorant. Someone said, "But GH is 99% white, so it's not going to change something." No, it will...think about it. The people we assume (most of us assume) who are in authority are white. Then, sub-conciously, you naively assume that white people are in charge. Oh, and there's that African American custodian. You sub-conciously assume that that's where the race of Africans deserve to be, cleaning-up and picking-up after people. It's so wrong. Something for all of you Grand Haven students to think about! Kudos for now.

Mr. Diederichsen has not graded the Chem tests. Eh. It went okay, I guess. There were some questions that I was like, "Wow! I know that!" and others that I thought to myself, "Eh. When did we learn that?" and glanced at my cheat notecard nervously. I just hope I secured my A for the marking period. An A- would be a terrible, drastic blemish to my immaculate record. Hehe. So, I am still anticipating my Chem grade. The vocab quiz in Shaw's AP English class will also determine my grade. I'm soooo nervous.

In other news, I learned that I am not one of few students who dislike Mrs. Shaw, but perhaps one of many! It's rather humorous. She's nice and all, but... Kudos for now.

I'm going to die from stress...

Mood: Ugh

The devil, otherwise known as AP English, has decided to threaten my grade, one week before the end of the third marking period. I have a 91, A- after a terrible timed writing I thought I actually did well on. That danged A Farwell to Arms/Hemingway and I don't mix. The paper is due next week Monday... I have a slight inclination just to put down random thoughts.

Other than that, this is the deciding week. My test in Chemistry should determine my grade on Wednesday, in addition to a vocab quiz in AP English on Friday. Being the final week before Science Olympiad competition, and the final week in the third marking period, I feel the stress pounding! All other classes are doing well; AP US History is a handful, recently. This New Deal stuff is boring. There's also a bad cold going around school, lurking in the hallways and catching innocent students. Ha. I hope I'm not a victim. Kudos for now.

Mood: The Devil

I have that nice, calm weekend-y feeling right now. I don't care if I can't make weekend an adjective; it's the mood that counts. I really should be working on an AP English paper and studying for a CP Chemistry test, but the weekend feeling took over, so I am not. I went to see 40 Days and 40 Nights. Something I personally and definitely would never recommend ever seeing. It fits the word "themeless" so well. I am much more of the I am Sam movie type. So, for all of you Josh Harnett fans, I hate to break it to you, but 40 Days and 40 Nights is just plain dumb. It is a good waste of 5.50. Just in--I'm taking my late paper for AP English. I cannot finish an A paper in one day and still study for CP Chemistry and Science Olympiad. With Regionals less than a week away, I have to get down to work and be soooo thorough in Experimental Design, the event I am competing in. The weekend mood takes over, and I don't even care that there's a preposition at the end of the previous sentence. This has got to stop soon! Kudos for now.

Mood: Calm

My homework load is huge this weekend, but I still feel somewhat good. I cannot believe it is Friday. I am relaxed. Calm. Tranquil. This weekend is going to be filled with an AP English paper. Great. I'm sure all who read this web journal sympthasize with me. Oh-just in-according to CNN, Hong Kong just took legal action against the Falun Gong group. I have much pity for the FG. Banned in China, they are still allowed in HK, but it's such a long story. HK still has their British-given rights, but it only in print. I do not think anyone actually believes Hong Kong has full freedom of speech, full freedom of religion and freedom of press. It is limited due to the Chinese handover. Depressing...really. I just hope HK does not continue on the same terms as the FG has. China accuses the Falun Gong of causing social unrest. Give me a break. Everyone knows it is not true. Enough venting! Hoy es viernes! Kudos...for now.
