Ahhh. I'm at complete peace with myself. For actual homework purposes, I have a paper and book report due before break ends, which is January 7, unlike many other school districts. That doesn't sound like it's going to be too bad. Emma's coming over Wednesday, and there should be some Science Olympiad "party" (no, we don't just sit around talking about atomic structure) sometime soon before school starts. I am so glad I got to chat with Sarah yesterday. It's very relieving and comforting to talk to her. She seems to find humor in just about everything, and thankfully, it's not mean humor or anything like that. Ahhh. I'll be so sad when break is over. Life is just too relaxing. Today, we went shopping. Glory, glory, glory. Personally, I don't know how Abercrombie can charge so much! Since their clothes are made at places like Hong Kong and Peru, (not even US made) how can they charge like 40, 50, sometimes 60 dollars for a shirt? It's simply strange. Do people that wear expensive clothes need a self-esteem boost? Personally, the style isn't that great. No offense to any of my friends who like shopping at Abercrombie. I just disagree with the prices. Anyway, it's terribly late. I wish everyone a Happy New Year. Kudos for now.

I love break. I have sooooooooo much time to space out all of my homework, even though I believe I shouldn't have any homework over break. I love being online, actually having conversations longer than a half an hour with my friends. I love sleeping, sleeping, and napping. Snore, snore. All is good.

Wow. All these close call terrorist attacks are getting really annoying. What's with this shoe bomb thing? What I really don't understand is WHY. I know that these terrorists are against the American government. Doesn't that mean they should attack the American government, not innocent American citizens that...could be argued...don't make the decisions in our government? After all, it's not like every citizen in the states voted as to whether or not our nation should send troops over to Afghanistan. It's all this huge puzzle that really doesn't make any sense. It seems to me that the more we provoke the al-Queda and the Taliban, the worse off our relations will be. If the American government truly values a peaceful world, then our troops shouldn't be there to fight, only to monitor and ensure the security of the new Afghanistan government. Provoking bin Laden is like throwing food at a neighborhood bully. It will result in nothing but more violence. Puzzled.

BTW, Emma's coming over on Wednesday. Finally something not as boring as lame judge shows. Hoping your Holidays are wonderful. Kudos for now.

Happy Holidays, everyone. I don't have a bunch of high tech gizmo stuff to take webcams or anything so unfortunately, the people that actually DO visit the blog won't be able to see my bright, glowing, smiling face. I absolutely love Christmas break; as boring as it may be, I don't have to worry about anything like Algebra II tests and AP English timed writings. However, I actually have stuff to do this break. Besides family get-togethers (oh jolly Aunt Rosie), I have academic things to worry about. Ooooh, update: despite that 83% on that stupid quiz in Algebra II, I aced the quiz on Friday (hehehe), and I have a 97 as my class average! All my grades are looking SUPER great recently. My Chemistry grade is at an all time high: 99.6%. YUM! Emma,I don't care if your brother comes over or not, unless you don't want him here. All he ever does is play with our old toys. BTW, I agree: I love Christmas as well! Free presents.

For Navidad, I got a bunch of "expected" presents. As usual, like every Christmas, I got books, clothes and computer games. All of which, by the way, is fun stuff. In addition, I got CASH this year. It's enough to make me happy. :) Sorry I haven't been posting recently. Although it seems like I have tons of time with break, I have been playing Civilization III, a new, innovative, cool, realistic computer game. It's wonderful, and it was one of my Christmas presents. Over Christmas eve, etc., I have been seeing family. Of course, I don't see family often...it's not like we have a family get-together EVERY week, but for the past few days, we've had one every day. It gets annoying seeing relatives at twenty four hour intervals. Thank goodness we don't have a "party" today. One of my relatives in particular--not named--is a grouch, and this relative is picky too! Ugh. However, all my family relatives are very generous, and I got some even more clothes from my aunt, uncle and cousins. They're from GAP and Abercrombie. Not exactly the PERFECT gifts, but they're okay. In fact, they are very expensive clothes, but they're comfortable...kinda preppy for my style. Anyway, I gotta jet. Everyone, enjoy yourselves this Holiday season. Hopefully-to everyone that visits this decrepid site-I haven't droned on too much. Happy New Year and kudos for now.

Wow! It's already Christmas Eve! Christmas break--what else is better but summer? I'm in an excellent mood. I've been to so many family get-togethers, enough to make one dizzy. I was in the car today and thought of this GREAT word: egad! Isn't it perfect? Your mom surprises you with bountiful presents: egad! You get an F on a test: egad! It's perfect in nearly all situations. Oooh, I didn't tell you guys that on Thursday, guess what I got on my Algebra II quiz: 83%. I was so upset. It nearly killed my day...well, it actually did. I was so disappointed. It's not like I don't study, because I really do. Egad! Yeah. Emma has moved her site, and on Saturday, I actually got to talk to Sarah! I was so happy, chatting is such a rare event in our busy lives. She should be going to Iowa soon. I've been doing a lot more shopping recently, more than I'd prefer. Actually, it seems like we've been to the Lakes Mall twice in the last day. Okay, maybe it isn't that bad, but I'm telling you-shopping this season is hectic. I actually have tons of work to do this break, but I am SO putting it off until last minute. What?! I am almost done with my Algebra II project! In case I don't get an opportunity to say it, "Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Feliz Navidad, Gong Hay Fat Choy...whatever." Kudos for now.

Wow! I surprisingly had a good day. Unfortunately, Hotmail and Microsoft aren't working, so I can't type any e-mails. In AP US History, I got a 47/48 (curved from fifty), and I thought I did really bad! Thank goodness. Tomorrow is the essay portion, which has known to be really killer to grades. In addition to that, there are tons of quizzes for Friday-Vocab, Spanish (aquel, esa, esta...), and Algebra II. Ick, all for Friday.

Wow! The Parent Internet Viewer, where Grand Haven students can view their grades, is up and running. For once, the server isn't broken. Let's see...so far, All A's! Do you ever visit the PIV, Emma?

One last thought: SOLAMENTE DOS DIAS ANTES DE LAS VACACIONES DE NAVIDAD!

I would babble on and on about how I loved the timed writing in AP Comp over Their Eyes Were Watching God and how I did poorly on my Algebra II quiz, but I don't have time. So, I can sum up my attitude in three words: THREE MORE DAYS!

Den wrote on Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at 03:48 p.m.

It's a late Sunday night post. Nothing wrong with that. Wow...I have not entried in a huge, gigantic period of time. That's probably because there isn't too much to say. I met with Mr. Reed, Science Olympiad Coach for GH, on Friday, and I am doing the following events this year (or at least practicing for them): Chemistry Lab, Experimental Design, Science of Fitness, Write It Do It, and Disease Detectives. Fun stuff. I have done Experiental Design and WIDI in the past, but wwe actually weren't tested over those; I actually scored well in Science of Fitness, Chemistry Lab and Science of Fitness. Thus, that compiles my list of events for this year. I just hope I haven't overloaded myself, like I felt at the beginning of this year.

This weekend was fun. I went shopping for a bunch of people, not myself, because I am not that conceited. No, I went shopping and got stuff for my Secret Santas, JT, and too many others to count. The mall was jam-packed. Despite the fact that America is currently "at war," it seems like all the locals have certainly been in the Christmas spirit! Also this weekend, as those who read Emma's blog know, I went to a weekend. Yes, the pastor did drone on for a rather long period of time. In fact, he did a lot more of the talking than anyone else! I didn't mind the references to love in the Bible, but everything else seemed irrevelvant. BTW, Emma: Thanks so much for the cookies. They were definitely yummy and definitely not burnt! Thanks again, they were wonderful.

I would love to write more, like about the AP Book Review (I'm doing The Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs), and the two Algebbra II quizzes this week. Yet, only five days more...until CHRISTMAS BREAK!!!! Kudos for now.

Apologies for not writing so much over the weekend. I really didn't feel like it, and when I don't feel like blogging...well, then I get entries about the size of M&M's. Emma: To help diagnose your problems with A and B...I am kinda confused when you wrote your entry. Was A the popular girl or B? Who was the "fat" one? Anyway, you can e-mail me back with some more info. But, from what I have heard from you and your blog entry, I would just think back in history. Have you done anything to make them mad? Some people are just the "Hey, Miranda" and don't claim to saying that type of people. The problem might not even be a problem. In fact, maybe they were just simply joking, and whether you may like it or not, they didn't mean anything by it. Anyway, keep us updated.

Enough about Emma's problems, and on to mine! I am starting to despise Chemistry and AP Comp with passions. I normally take criticism very well, especially if I believe it is needed. However, according to Mrs. Shaw, my Antigone paper apparently lacked "zest, emotion" so I was actually thinking to myself--should I just add exclamation marks at the end of each sentence? Is that enough emotion, pizazz for you? Anyway, our paper is due Thursday, so I can still spruce it up. If I can make one of my really stupid connections: It's like I just finished the cake (the basic ideas and content of the paper), all I need know is some REALLY good fudge frosting. Wow. I hope this cake is an A. Anyway, in Chemistry, Mr. Diederichsen grades like every single one of our assignments on accuracy! Come on! Even my Algebra II teacher doesn't do that! I also think Chemistry is really confusing. Besides Algebra II, that is my lowest grade @ a 98.6 or something. I was at 99 until that stupid homework assignment dropped me one percent. I'm not going to worry about it--instead, I have a Chem review, Chemistry test, AP US reading, AP Comp paper sprucing, and Algebra II problems from 7.2 to worry about! Kudos for now!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. My sister: she is the most irresponsible person alive! All she ever doesa in our family is complain about this, and whenever she gets mad, she starts taking out all her anger on me! Can you believe it? Talk about an outrageous freak. Recently, our family has restricted children's Internet access since my sister, again, was playing too much. So we each get like two hours a day. Not a big deal...until she starts accounting for every SINGLE second I am online. Among other things, she is just this horrible person. I am like the nicest brother in the entire world, but she doesn't see that. Okay, maybe I'm not the nicest, but every morning, I set her spot at the table, and get all her stuff. I don't ever complain when she wastes all our parents' money on clothes, accesssories and everything she needs to look like a supermodel. However, when I spend ONE DOLLAR of our parents' money on clothes, BOOKS (AKA EDUCATIONAL), etc. she always gets mad. I don't even complain! GRRRRRRRRRRRR. Writing this reminds me of Emma's problems with her mom! Anyway, that felt really good. I really don't hate my sister; it's just she gets REALLY annoying sometimes, especially with her new Michelle Branch fad! Kudos for now!

I don't really feel like posting. It's a Friday, and I love life on Fridays, like nothing in the world could do you harm. I have quite some homework this weekend, now that I think about it. I have a paper in Comp, along with some reading for History. The Algebra II test was absolutely horrible. It was so hard. Other people who took it agree with me that the prolbem was justplain icky. When graphing one of the polynomial functions, I forgot to put the stupid fraction in parentheses, and so I did not have a local maximum. -1 right there. Plus, one of the problems was factoring a polynomial with x's and y's. That was horrible, indeed. I just took out a 4x^2y and that was all. All in all, an Algebra II test ruined my day. Today was also the first meeting of the Grand Haven High School Science Olympiad team. I love being surrounded by smart people. But, there was this one annoying freshman on it. Anyway, time to jet. Kudos for now.

It's late! But, I'm rather sanguine about life right now. Can you believe it? I actually got a 100% on my Algebra II quiz. Our test over polynomial functions is tomorrow. Sorry for not posting frequently, but sometimes when I hit the "done!" button, I get this error message. Something's wrong with Pitas and my computer.

Anyway, I made the Science Olympiad team. I was thrilled! Many of my friends, who possess boundless intellect, are also members. However, the size of the team at eighteen worries me. Apparently, that would leave only three alternates, making the team way too unflexible when scheduling conflicts occurred. I doubt, unfortunately, that GHHS will do great this year in S Olympiad. Anyway, for AP History, we're covering the Civil War, and it's all gooped up in my head, and there isn't any distinction between battles. Gettysburg? Glorieta Pass? Fredericksburg? All just sitting there, I need to look over my notes this weekend. I have been putting everything off until the weekend. It's just that I'm so busy during the week and all with tutoring and practice and Amabassadors. Well, maybe not with Ambassador Club, but... And, when I get to the weekened, all I want to do is enjoy. Unfortunately, I put so much off that I should really be doing tons of work! Well...wouldn't it be WONDERFUL if tomorrrow was a snow day? That's what we need, a small break in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Sleep. Need. Kudos for now.
