Interestingly, I don't feel down like I do most vacations ... this time I am pretty pumped, in fact. I guess I have been doing a good job avoiding that bad downtime pattern that I normally fall into. (No work makes Nina a paranoid wreck.) I remember the year that I was music director, I became almost suicidal during the break. Then I met John and he really helped me through that--it was good to talk to someone unbiased who'd been through it all. I guess that is what is different now--just the network of friends I have built...Hilary, John, Jodi...and all the awesome KTXT people.
I realized recently that I haven't dated anyone since last November, when I met Ellis in N'awlins at Manson. The weird part is that I don't remember missing it--the whole wacky romance thing. It sorta freaked me out, and then I called Jason to see what was up...almost like some bad delayed rebound action! (Jason being my good-time no fail Long Island permanent rebound boy.)
Bad part is Jason has a girl now...so going to Vegas for the weekend to see him was definitely out! Granted he is still a good friend, and gave me some attention and a much needed pep talk. We even talked about how I didn't call him when I went to the city CMJ before last when he was still living up there, only to bump into him in a diner off 7th Ave. at 4 AM anyway! In a city of 9 million people or so, at 4 in the morning ... he just had to walk randomly into my diner, huh?
...And people say that life has no real plan, or that there is not such a thing as destiny? I disagree.

The last couple of days have been spent sanding and painting furniture. I have no clue why I thought I could pull this off??! 10+ pieces of old institutional desks and tables. Hopefully by the end of it all KTXT will have this cool high-end thrift store look... ha ha ha!
On top of this I an doing entries for some lame radio contest, and helping to fluff up our new KTXT webpage. Seth and I have been messing with the colours and generally screwing with content. So be watching for a new www.ktxt.net in the near future.
Even better, today Jenn sent me a limited edition Chemlab promo poster!! Best gift I've gotten this year--well next to my friend Ann giving me her old 133MHZ laptop--with a bunch of bells and whistles... Gotta love my friends!

Another damn long week--just spent approx. 16 hours at the station--I got there at 7:30 AM. I have been in meetings all day...fired, hired, and generally taken care of end of semester crap!
So keeping up with this is a little harder than I previously thought it would be... but I should have some good stories at the end of it all to tell. I am just waiting to move Trent (my poseter) into our new office. He has been with me through many staff positions, and well, this is the big one. We finally have our own room!!
Too cool.

OK, this week sucked with a capital UCK! I just got back from seeing Weezer on Tuesday night in Ft. Worth with my friend Hilary, and some of our other radio station friends. This was supposed to be a 24 hour type of trip, but instead we got stuck in Abilene, Texas for 2 days!!
Basically we attempted to drive through the worst (read only) snow storm thus far this year. One of the highlights of the trip was being cut-off by a semi truck carrying squished cars--only to realize that he was just trying to avoid the car spinning in the other lane, who he accidentally clipped, and then rained plastic car parts onto our car!! Finally we get to the venue, miss all the opening bands, and catch half of Weezer's set.
Thus it is time to head back... into the storm once again. We make it as far as Abilene before deciding that our lives are worth more than the Winabago that's upside down in the ditch beside the highway. So we stop at some cheesy hotel, and decide to head off in the morning. Which is a great plan until they all out close the interstate due to massive snow the next day!! So there we are stuck on planet Motel 5 without so much as a toothbrush. We ate at Skillets for every meal, and watched way too much MTV. A highlight was seeing Carson Daly's Total Disclosure, and the worst episode of Dismissed that I've ever seen--yes we were that bored.
So here I am home once again... where the first message on my answering machine when I got back was from the FBI--yes I am serious!
What have I done to deserve this?

Alrighty, friends and random Internet drifters ... I, Nina, have officially started this neat-o web diary thing!
:::How scary:::
Actually, it is kind of funny how I decided to do this page, being someone who is really scared of the web, and couldn't code herself out of a paper bag!! See, I usually read my friend Millie's web diary: Get Lost, because she is a totally awesome writer! Lately she's gone on a bit of a diary mini-strike! So, while I've been waiting to read new cool epic story stuff from her--hint hint ... and being bored off my ass due to the holidays, I decided to start my own little rant log.
Yes, it's done on a Chemlab theme--my favorite band. (Actually, I seem to always keep coming back to Jared and friends ... so I finally decided that Chemlab is officially my favorite--R.I.P.) So, obviously, I like Industrial Music. (Just nod.)
Anyway ... enough about me.
