The Ridiculous and the... More Ridiculous

So the other night after Rissi got home from class, we went out for a late dinner at the local Eat & Park (think Denny's, but with a good salad bar). From two booths away, somebody's cell phone rang - to the tune of Wagner's "Ride of the Valkryies", which made me snicker to myself.

About ten minutes later, a second cell phone goes off in the next aisle of booths - and this one plays the theme song from "The A-Team." I wasn't sure whether to laugh, or beat my head against the table because of the Bad 80's Flashback Factor.

G-Cat made it safely home last night. ^_^ ...now if I can only get rid of this headache I woke up with, I'll be much happier about life.

Once again I am forcibly reminded that I can't get by on 4 hours of sleep any more. After G-Cat hit the road last night, I was too jizzed to sleep and stayed up until about 2 am. G-Cat called at 6-ish in the morning to let us know she'd gotten there safely and give us an update. As of about 3:30 this afternoon, baby had not yet made his appearance although the hospital was estimating by 5 pm or so. So far there hasn't been any further word for G-Cat.

I really hope everything's going all right over there.

Thanks for the reassurance, Catt, much appreciated. I felt like less of a hypocrite after getting to work at the store today and hearing pretty much the entire staff expessing the same feelings. We are all keeping our armed forces personnel in our thoughts and prayers, and hoping for as safe and speedy a resolution as possible. {{{Hugs}}}

Folks might not hear from GryphonCat over on Mews for a few days... remember that incipient baby I mentioned a couple of entries ago? Well, we got the call earlier tonight that her sister's water had broken, and new nephew is on his way! So G-Cat is currently hustling her bustle across the state to be there for her sis.

...and with an adrenaline rush like that, who needs caffeine? @,@ I'll be sitting up playing solitaire for an hour or three, until the jitters calm down.

What Changeling Did This Weekend:

* Got More Holes Put In My Head* - what can I say, the elves are a bad influence. (Ah, what an exciting life I lead. *yawn*) Rissicat got hers done again, too.
While at the mall, also signed one of many books due to be sent to troops in the Middle East... because I want to support them, even if I in NO way support the decision our so-called President made to send them there. (Does that make me a hypocrite? ...don't know, but it's how I feel about the situation.)
*Thought About Friends* - who were at the conventions I missed this weekend, Lunacon and Millenicon. Hope the art show went well for you, and that you enjoyed Lunacon, if you went.
*Worked On:* - the monstrosity of a plot for my poor unsuspecting elves. They ain't gonna know what hit 'em.
Also, due to IM with Lunar, started fussing around with an old picture of Galen again, which I hope to have post-worthy in a couple of days. (Yes, Luny, the thinking-rude-thoughts one.)
Oh yeah, and I poked at FF8 a little more, opened up a can of whupass on Ifrit. I really don't think the game designers intended for Squall to be at level 20 when going through the Fire Cave - but I was having too much fun collecting magic and teaching the GFs new tricks. eh heh heh... ^_^;;

Probably should work on some more art projects today (especially since I still need to get my art site moved over to its new home!), but I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be rolling a lot of dice again instead.

Counting My Blessings (and blessings-to-be)

Life could be so much worse... I watched an accident happen on my way in to work today. It wasn't a bad one - I think the worst injury is going to be the bruising that poor woman takes from her airbag deploying, for which I'm grateful. I'm also grateful for not being *in* an accident myself.

Good Thing # 2 - my headache went away. Don't know if it was the combination of Tylenol & Advil I threw at it, or the bag of skittles I just snarfed, but either way it's gone. And now I really have to get my sleep cycles back onto some kind of regular basis so I'll *stop* waking up with headaches. Blee.

Good Thing # 3 - the loudmouth surly angst boy character I mentioned a couple of entries back has been not only lightened up a little, but I figured out he fits into the huge monster brain-eating story plot I was trying to work on. Go figure. (He's not necessarily happy about this, but I am... muahahahahaha!)

It'll be a blessing when G-Cat's little sister has her baby; then I can stop bothering to answer "Out of Area" calls again. >,< (It'll also be a blessing for the sister, because then her son will stop stomping on her bladder and various other internal organs!) Dang telemarketers... they don't seem to see the hole in the logic when they say *I* have been the one selected to win a vacation (just by listening to our hour-long sales spiel in our office!). Er, hello? ...the phone's not even listed in my name. If you're looking for your "winner", it must be one of the roomies, and they're not here. 8 P

Okay, enough babble. Back to work (and trying, around the edges, to make sense out of Monster Plot That Is Rapidly Assuming Epic Proportions).

So I was talking to G-Cat about plot points for my elves, and how in working out the geography for the area I'd come up with a way to tie one of the characters' histories in with evil new plot-stuff that's in the works. And G-Cat brings up another "feature" that's on the map nearby, and mentions that something really needs to be done about *that* and *its* history...

...and suddenly there's a whole small herd of brand-new characters running around, at least one of whom is dumping his bad attitude and entire angst-wallowing history into my brain cell. [walks over to bonk head against wall]

"That's nice, dear. I don't suppose you could babble all of that into this tape-recorder, while I work on what I'm supposed to be writing right now --? And let me get back to you a little later?"

Well, it was worth a try... *sigh*

I have just discovered that I'm terrible at creating world-maps. Well, continent-maps, really... I'm not even trying to plot out the whole world. It's kind of disillusioning.

Life was much easier when I ignored things like geography, and just let the figments play.

On the bright side, it only rained here today as opposed to the snow that folks not too far north of us got hit by - and we started the day out with a rousing thunderstorm, complete with one bolt of *pink* lightning and a resulting thunder crash that shook the whole house.
