Yuna takes aim at A Changeling's Diary

Wheeeeeeee! Angel Links DVD box set in my hot little hands. Mwahahahaha!

And I've just found out there's a chance that I may be working for the store at Otakon this year. Yowza! (keeping fingers crossed that I'll be able to get that time off from the PO job)

Thank you, Thorne and Kosagi, for the sympathy on the car situation... I found out late yesterday that my car is *not* totalled, and repairs to it may already be started. [happy sigh]

And thanks so much to everyone who complimented the kimono! It's a good thing the costumer-handshake friend didn't look too closely at the obi; I was finishing that *at* the event, had brought the wrong kind of Velcro and ended up stapling parts of the obi together because I couldn't sew the sticky-backed Velcro in place... >,< eh heh heh MacGuyver Lives!!!! ...must get it properly re-sewn before Otakon, if I'm gonna end up working there.

More figment-ary insanity, this time inspired while G-Cat was working on lyrics for a spoof song for Yuffie -- "Materia Girl".

G-Cat: "I bet she could sing it complete with all the little nuisance-dog yips Madonna had in her version."
Me: "...or substitute manic giggles for the chihuahua noises."
Cid: [grumble mumble] "...d@$#, somebody's molesting a freakin' yap dog again -- or else Yuffie's singing. Same thing."
Yuffie: [squeals] "Hey!!!"
Vincent: "...I see your point."
Seph-kun: ** [wandering through] "Guys, this isn't supposed to be one of those kind of 'fics. Geez."
...
...
...
Cid:
O,o
Vincent: o,O;;
Cloud: "...did he just say what -- oh, for Holy's sake -- Seph!" >_<

(** -- so far, nobody but my fellow Mews and these two have met Seph-kun, but I hope to beat the beginning of the story into shape to be posted on House of Mews sometime soon.)

feeling vindicated

... because the insurance people called this morning; both the police report *and* the driver who struck me have confirmed my version of the accident, and repairs to my car are being covered on her insurance. (or replacement, but I'm really hoping they'll find that unneccessary... my little car would be tough to replace, even their adjustor had to admit she was in very good condition before the squish.)

To the big, bad, belligerent he-male in the pickup truck I got shoved into: sorry, dude, but go bite yourself somewhere painful -- it was ~not~ my fault. 8 P

Is 2003 over yet...? Because with the exception of a few cool things like getting to visit friends & meet Thorne, so far this year has not been anywhere near my list of favorites.

Lost an aunt, lost my gall bladder, came very close to losing my relationship with my mother, and now, this. >_< Got rear-ended and shoved into the truck in front of me in downtown 'Burgh traffic. Worst damage to the woman who rear-ended me: my license plate imprinted on her front bumper, clearly enough to be able to read the numbers (albeit backwards). Worst damage to the truck in front of me: crumpled his license plate. Driver of truck in front of me is now trying to claim that I hit him *before* the other driver hit me, when my car had been at a dead stop before getting bumper-carred into him. RAR.

On the brighter side, last weekend's camp-out event went quite well; in spite of some rain Friday evening and early Saturday, things cleared up for the "hatching" and Sunday was gorgeous for checkout. And since I promised somebody... here's how my kimono (yukata? ...*still* not sure) turned out.

Outfit earned me my first "Costumer's Handshake" - which apparently consists of the costumer holding out her/his hand, and then when you reach to shake it, taking the opportunity to check the seams, hem & general construction of your sleeve. ^_^;; (Never even knew there was a secret handshake, before.)

Oh, and I'm very sorry to read about what happened to your mural! {{{Hugs}}} Hope the little rotters caught he** over it. Grrr!

G-Cat is hopeful that the later half of '03 will be an improvement over the first half; I sincerely wish she is right on this one.

* Club 'zines printed up for event
* Program books made
* Name badges copied and lettered, just need to be whomped into buttons
* "Dragon eggs" finished and ready to be busted open
* Costume done but for some hand-sewing on finishing touches. (Close enough for jazz!)
* Friend's tunic as finished as it can be without him present for fitting
* Art projects finished and packed up safely

What remains in the morning is to get my clothes, bedding & personal shtuff together, and figure out how we're going to fit all the gear into our cars (and whether we'll have to take 2 or all 3). Actually, we're not in bad shape -- and will even be getting to bed before 1 AM. Shocking. ^_^

Hope everyone has a good weekend, and I'll check back in once we've survived our little excursion. {{{Hugs}}} all 'round!

Social Stuff! To distract me from the insanity that is 'Fest prep....

So sorry to hear about your computer problems, Catt! Losing so many files is painful (says she who doesn't back up her HDD often enough) but it's very cool that you managed to salvage your writing. {{{Hugs}}}

But - but - Thorne, why skip the Jello mold? There's always room for Jello! X D ...And does poking at FF8 ficcage mean there'll be any more of that snippet with Laguna and Squall playing "Hide & Seek" in the training center? That was off to a cool start.

Tsaiko, I am officially jealous. I want more strange search hits like that! (Hmmm, what can I throw in here to get more... drastic naughty wombat intestine short circuit sedative. There, random words picked out by riffling through the dictionary: let's see what *that* nets.) Good call on that last one, too -- the gene pool definitely needs another shot of chlorine there.

I hope the heat and humidity in Florida hasn't made you melt or anything - and that the creativity is flowing nicely, whether it's about any of the warped things we talked about earlier or something completely different. ^_^ ...mooooore kuuuuuuja...

Twig, your CD will be going out tomorrow; due to too much spastic running around, I didn't make it to the post office yesterday. (eh heh heh) I already said this once, but the chibi Alexander is too cute for words - and you get bonus points for use of the word "defenistration"!!

Weirdness of the day... a junior version of Tabitha from BmB was in the store today. Honest. Same hair, same makeup, same goth clothing style, but about 16 years old. o_O ...her mother looked surprisingly normal and mundane, though, so it can't *really* have been her.

Competent Woman?

Cast resin dragon-head plaques, at least one in each color - Check.
Burned sound-effect CDs for the "Hatching" - Check.
Updated & double-checked club Wing information - Check.
Got tetanus shot (long silly story) - Check.

...am feeling vaguely mighty. Now I have to spend a *whole* lot of time at the sewing machine. Kyaaa.

BAD Figments --*no* figment-biscuits.

So the big Pern event starts in 5 (count 'em, five) days... still way too much stuff to get done before then. This is *no* time for the character Chorus Line to start getting so frisky on me!

Galen: "Okay, for you newer guys... I've been through this with her for 10 years now, and this is THE best time to get silly and outrageous. She's too busy to write down the crap you get up to, so she won't be able to embarrass you with it later!"

Me: "...hate you. Hate you all. RAARRRR."

...**sigh** Lunar, Twig, thanks so much for the IM giggles last night - made for a great de-stresser. ^_^ And Luns, safe journey to you... and I hope the winning streak of cartoons and snippets continues!
