First day of new classes. All I have to say is that I sincerely dislike General Education classes and am peeved that university won't let frosh take higher classes. *seethes a tiny bit*

On another note (this time it's B flat!) I watched the Utena movie for the second time. In a fit of insanity I bought the damn thing on DVD (mostly because it was on sale) the other day. Utena is a fun mindfuck series. The movie is just inane. Oh, it's pretty alright. Prettier than the TV series ever could be. It's just the characterization, storyline, and major plot elements were thrown out the window...All that being said, it's worth the watch for the bits and pieces (rose waltz scene, the car chase, scandalous video mix-up, etc.), not the whole.

Ficcing muses on sugar high.

Muses: *cackles* You know you want to write Fujicest!
Me: Well, yes. But--
Muses: You WILL give in to your inner fangirl! Oh, and by the way cuff links are kinky.
Me: @_@
Muses: Feel the Fujicestuous Luv!!!!!
Me: @____@
Muses: We'll bring you back to the dark side once more, no worries! ^.^
Me: Er, maybe I'll just start with slashing the Get-Backers...
Muses: That's the spirit!

++they lived in a treacle well++

Though the thought of an entire well of treacle is vaguely disgusting...

Tokyopop bought the license for the Gravitation manga...

SPLAT!!!

Never thought a shounen ai manga would see a commercial American release. Though I'm not one to complain!

Speaking of acquisitions...vaguely wonder if Shounen Jump USA will pick up PoT for English speaking market.

*still coveting Episode 64 aka The Chibi Episode of Prince of Tennis*

Treacle and chibis on the brain...that'll certainly make for weird dreams...

*shakes head* Really now. Treacle of all things...what next porridge?

++muppies and manga++

Spent greater part of the day in Manhatten and northern Jersey. Went to Kinokuniya's and bought recent issues of Hana to Yume and Nakayoshi, as well as the last two volumes of Chobits and volume six of Tokyo Mew Mew. Tokyo Mew Mew is beginning to disturb me and I'm not entirely sure why. The Chobits' ending damn near made me cry...mostly because of the Kaede death scene flashback. Chitose still seems way to normal to have been Icchan's wife, but go figure. Though the children/persacom thing was in character. I have concluded that the only reason behind creating Angelic Layer (I love it to pieces, but really nothing happens in that series) was to enable Clamp to give Chobits a Royally Fucked Up Clamp Ending(tm). But what the hey, it's a fun series all in all so it was worth the time and money.

Then bought "The King" by David Feintuch, the unexpected sequel to "The Still." Have gotten more than halfway through the book already. My mind went SPLAT! Feintuch's is a good writer, truly he is. This is not cliche fantasy fare. However, the characterisation seems a bit off...Especially for Rust and Tresa. In the first book, I really liked their characters. But in this novel I felt they lacked the depth of the first novel. Changing a character doesn't automatically mean a change in the character. Thankfully, he's no where near the 2-Dimensional Character Standard of McCaffrey and Lackey(tm) or the Inexplicable and Annoying Inconsistent Characterization of Tamora Pierce(tm). Anyway, suspect that while right now I would dearly love to throw the book against a wall, in three months time I'll come to like it almost as much as the first (which is what I went through with "The Still"). In the mean while I'll re-read Lynn Flewelling's "The Bone Doll's Twin" in anticipation of its sequel. For when all's said and done, Flewelling never disappoints.

In other news, have inadvertently gotten Mel-jyou hooked on "Princess Tutu." What a fun show! And have introduced Goldberry to the Innuendo Laden Fun that is "Prince of Tennis." Life is good. Though now the two shows have sparked more cosplay urges. Oy, Mel-jyou we need so much time and fabric. And notions. Oh, accursed tiny dorm rooms that are impossible to do any serious sewing in. Though the expression on my roomie's face if I bring my sewing machine would be utterly priceless. *doubles over laughing* Ah well, we shall see.

Followed Anne around on her repair and re-programming job in the city. Was fun. Was a trifle amused and a trifle irked at how young the people at the job thought I was. Which prompted...

Me: Anne, seriously, how old do YOU think I look? Be honest!

Anne: Fourteen. Or fifteen.

Me: Soon people'll assume me and my little brother are twins.

Anne: You'll be happy to look younger than your age as you get older.

Me: Probably. But right now it's very frustrating having people ask for TWO forms of identification to confirm my age.

And that prompted the memory of how my lil' bro got into the 18&over section at an anime convention quite by accident (I was shopping for yaoi doujinshi and my excited sibling rushed in to show me his latest bargain), much to the chargin of one of my friends...

Friend: Why don't they let me in? I can look 21 if I try!

My Smart-Mouthed Bro: And I look 18 without trying! *insert Momiji-esque giggles*

Me: Don't look at me, I'm legal!

Ah, it was a con to remember. For many reasons.

And in more unrelated tangents, DN Angel is getting its own anime series. Hope keep the yaoi undertones in, unlike what happened to the X TV series (oh the wasted potential!). If not, well there's always more PoT!

In case anyone is curious the word "muppy" was the result of shopping at Kohl's. Anne and I went to the clearence section, which was for the time being mostly Christmas related items. Among them stuffed reindeer. Only they didn't look like reindeer. They looked like a cross between a moose and a puppy. Hence "muppy." Yes, we did break down a buy a muppy, even though we said we wouldn't.

++home again++

Hurrah, back home again. *flops over* Have learned that vacation is bad for me as it is conducive to relapse. Have not seen downstate friends yet, but hope that will change soon. Now I miss my uni friends and Mel-sempai.

In other news...have now seen Two Towers twice and the second Harry Potter movie (if nothing else, Florida had nicer movie theaters than up here). Two Towers was fun except for Faramir character assasination. Aragorn had even more slash potential than the last movie. *grins* SamxFrodo scenes always a good thing. Gollum/Smeagol was an absolute scream! ^_^ He more than made up for the whole Faramir thang. Miranda Otto as Eowyn, superb! Helm's Deep didn't drag at all. All in all had fun watching it.

As for the Harry Potter movie....LUCIUS MALFOY!!! He made the movie worthwhile. Perfect for the part...and as added slash bonus was practically eating Harry with his eyes. Lockhart was foppish as he should be. All adult actors performed very well as usual. The actress playing Hermione improved a lot. Radcliffe just is so bleh as Harry. I can't even hate him, he's that boring. They made Ron Designated Wuss(tm), dunno why. He didn't come across like that in the books, least not to me. Felton's Draco isn't as Draco as it could be. Colin was so cute! Teehee, he wants to bear Harry's children! Well in the book anyway, wasn't in movie long enough for that to be established. He looks like a British Momiji! *glomps* Didn't get half as much attention as he did in the books, but that wasn't a surprise. Then again would rather have well cast actor with little screen time than suffer with bad actor with too much screen time. What happened to Oliver's hair? Still has sexy accent, so all is forgiven. ^_~ TouseledHair!Percy always enjoyable. Tom Riddle was excellent, even if he looked a tad too old for the part. Anne and I had to keep from bursting into hysterical laughter when we realized Moaning Myrtle was Shirley Henderson, who had played Marie Melmotte in Masterpiece Theatre's "The Way We Live Now." We like Shirley, she amuses us greatly.

As for the Christmas haul, was surprised by everything since I didn't ask for anything specific other than Law&Order Season One on DVD. Other pressies included new hiking boots(excellent since my old ones were worn to the ground), Law&Order PC Game(may I congratulate the sick mind that went through with making that game), and funky socks. After Christmas sales turned out to be very good this year as I was able to buy many cheap, tacky trinkets that are perfect for cosplay.

Mystery of the Day: Where did all the chapstick go? My family is chapstick and lotion happy, but now we haven't any. V. strange as supply wasn't all that low.

++slackin' off a bit++

Despite the fact that I have a Japanese final tomorrow morning...I'm still wide awake and damn near wired. Must finish assignments or face M-sensei's wrath. Sensei is funny. Thankfully Japanese grammar is similiar enough to Turkish grammar to pull me through, otherwise I would fail this final.

Sempai is incorrigible. That is all.

In light of the Chobits ending...*hysterical laughter* Long live Icchan! Though am rather peeved at Clamp because that deliberate crossover means that Sai and Kaede did not get their happy yuri ending. It also means that Goldberry and I were somewhat correct in our Icchan suspicions. Re-watched some episodes of Angelic Layer recently...'kay is it just me or is the whole S&M vibe extending beyond just Icchan and Ogata? The whole cast just...*shakes head* Oh, the suggestive lines.

Speaking of suggestive lines, nearly every line in Prince of Tennis reeks of yaoi subtext. Not that I'm complaining! ^_~ I revel in it, it's just that I have to constantly keep from laughing aloud lest I wake my roommate. This show is damn fun!

Highlight of Episode 51, Inui: "Just for once, I wanted to be on top!" Getting feisty aren't we?

Tennis, riiiiight, so that's what they're calling it these days.
